That said, you can get ebola FAR easier than you can get AIDS. Not even close to a good comparison there, man.
The difference between Ebola and AIDS isn't in their transmissability so much as their virulence. They can both be transmitted by infected bodily fluid. AIDS has a much lower virulence in that the infection typically progresses very slowly and the infection can remain undetected for years after infection. Ebola on the other hand is extremely virulent with the virus reproducing rapidly and the infection progressing rapidly.

Do you want me to? Did my point go over your head or should I have named a different virus which would then clearly show "I was NOT joking".

This is pretty much my point
Ebola has killed nearly 1,000 people in Africa, but health experts say other viruses pose a bigger threat to U.S. citizens.

Go ahead with your snide remarks and I will continue "joking".

            Re: Ebola

I saw the news about that nurse earlier this afternoon and I was floored. The authorities now have a herculean feat having to track down 130 passengers than i'm sure they're going to have to track down any person they've had contact with just to make sure it hasn't been spread.

While it's not quite "worst nightmare scenario" level. It's getting pretty damn close. How the hell can you be so shortsighted, selfish and stupid to go on a plane after treating someone with Ebola and you have a fever?!

It just completely blows my mind.

I think we all understand that it CAN become serious, but right now it isn't. That's the point we're trying to make. At this point we all face many more every day life dangers than contracting Ebola.

I mean.. what do you want us to do? Until it becomes THAT serious, I have bills to pay and a life to live. I'm not going to stop living my life and be in fear that every person I come in contact with has Ebola.

                  Re: Ebola

The plane she travelled on made 5 more flights before the CDC informed the airline. It's now been disinfected twice and is flying again tonight. I would be furious and very afraid if I had flown on that plane or sat in the same seat she was in after her flight. The virus does not live that long, but it's still scary.
I am the lesson after the fall.

One person on one plane was all it took to go from Rise of the Planet of the Apes to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes if you saw those movies. I know those are movies, but this lady has got to be smarter than this and think.

I don't think the article makes your point entirely. You can take it as a snide remark, but that's not how I meant it (though I can see how you did).

This article speaks more clearly to the comparison: How Ebola Is (and Is Not) Like HIV/AIDS

I don't really know what your last sentence means.

Plot twist: This Ebola strain is actually a plague of nanobots released by aliens in order to pave the way for the slavery of the human race.

I can't remember the name but this whole ebola thing reminds me of the movie a couple years back where a wife went on a business trip to Asia, and caught a disease by eating pork contaminated by a bat. They had to track down everyone she came in contact with and that's how her husband found out she was cheating on him.
