He's going to call me at 8:30 AM for the next update.

She's made progress, for sure. So thank God for that. He said she was even drinking water. Good girl!

Had I not left work early to check on her she'd be dead now. I'm not sure why I'm stating that other than to pass along to my OS brothers: "Go with your gut." Me listening to mine might just very well have saved her life. We'll see.

Thanks for the support. I'll update in the morning. Good night everyone. Give your animals some love for me. They deserve it.
Unfortunately, I know all too well what you're going through. Just think positive thoughts and pray that she continues to improve.

Maybe she's turning a corner now that she's drinking. Hopefully, things get better from here.

Re: My cat might not make it through the night...

I hope your situation ended up better than mine yesterday.

I got to work and was in a standup meeting when I get a call from my wife. I text back that I'll call her up after. I call and find out it's our cat Callie. She can't move her back legs, and she's only like 9. She gets the baby up and takes Callie to the emergency vet hospital.

I get a call where she puts the doctor on speaker...apparently Callie had heart disease and a blood clot has gone to her back legs, blocking them and shutting them down. Even if we threw money at the problem, most likely there was nothing we could do. Had to put her to sleep to end the future pain.

So freaking sad, and we had no notice, no clue she was sick. Apparently this is normal for cats with heart issues, they don't display murmurs or anything.

She was my first cat on my own...she moved with me from Michigan to Arizona...She was the most loyal cat ever, never mean to anyone.

Sucks so bad to lose a pet out of nowhere, just need time at this point....can't wait for the weekend.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry.

My cat is only 11 and it sounds like they had the exact same problem - heart disease. My fiancé and I looked it up this morning and apparently blood clots are extremely common with this diagnosis. I guess we dodged a bullet there.

I will say a prayer for you guys. We've had a few animals before but this one is is my fiancé's baby. All she wants to do is cuddle and it's especially heart breaking when such an innocent animal gets sick with absolutely zero warning.

Our vet told us heart disease in cats is especially lethal because by the time most people recognize there's a problem, it's too late for treatment. It's much easier to recognize in dogs.

My vet told me this morning that she's beginning to eat and if all goes according to plan, I can actually pick her up and take her home tonight. But we're not out of the clear yet.

Again, I feel your pain so much man. My fiancé went to work at 2:30 and the cat was fine. I came home early (6:00) to check in on her simply out of paranoia and she was literally curled up in a corner underneath the entertainment center to die. Like the snap of a finger. If I had come home at my normal time (8:00) she would have been dead when I opened the door.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We could still lose our's too and it hurts so much to watch an innocent creature suffer so badly.

Siamese! And true to the breed, she's constantly talk talk talk talk. It's pretty cute.

What the hell is a Tonk??? LOL!

Could you share a photo. I'd love to see!

A Tonk is a cross breed of a Siamese and a Burmese cat. They look closer to a Siamese but you can still see the difference pretty easily if you look closely.

Your girl is definitely a Siam.

Yeah, it is crazy. I'm glad you could identify it before it got too bad. We have a dog on meds for heart issues, but just couldn't find out early on the cat sadly.

I hope it all works out....what are the odds we had a similar issue the same day, insane!

                            I know, right?

She's home now (thank god) but she's acting very odd. The vet thinks it's because she's exhausted but can't rule out other diseases (he didn't want to run a blood test I guess to keep the cost down.)

Had I known that was why he didn't I would have okay'd it. What's a few hundred more at this point!

$651 and counting (he discounted from over $1,000). But she's worth every penny. You can't put a price on love, you know?

I'll say a prayer for you my friend.

Went through something similar last year with my girl's cat. It was cancer.

We didn't have a clue until bringing him to the vet after his diet changed and he became sluggish.

I'm hoping for the best for you. Cats are beyond special. Let's hope she pulls through.
