Dorado and Pompano are the two species of dolphinfish, Dorado being known as Mahi Mahi in Hawaiian. I'm sure they put them as dolphin to draw attention, a Dolphin sandwich will catch your eye more than a Dorado sandwich.

Well, to **** you up even more, there is a whole family (scientifically) of fish called Pompano, Pompano dolphinfish is unrelated and just looks similar. Pretty much any fish, related or not, with that similar shape are called Pompano.

How do you know so much about fish?

I went to a fish school where you learned to identify fish among other things like measuring nets and I don't think they went over that. They just said mahi-mahi was the dolphin that's on the menu.

The Walgreens W is the same as the Nats symbol. Learned that like 2 months ago.

LOL, funny because this was the thing I first thought of when I saw this thread! Although slightly different, it took me way too long to realize the distinct similarities, until my then 5-year-old son said the Mets were playing the Walgreen's team on ESPN... Mind. Blown.

Until a few years ago, I never realized the Milwaukee Brewers old logo was an M and a B in the shape of a baseball glove. I always used to think it was just a baseball glove.

My initials are MB (MLB actually), but I had to constantly explain the Brewers hats/jersey I wore to people, because they didn't realize that.

I know I have droves of examples to mention but the first big one to come to mind comes courtesy of my 19-year-old brother, who learned just two days ago that Yosemite National Park was pronounced "Yo-sem-ee-tee" and not "Yoze-might". In his semi-defense, he said he'd heard of Yosemite, but just thought it and Yoze-might were two different regions.

I eat too damn much, and I remember random ****. So 20 years ago on vacation I see dolphin on a menu and look it up, that I remember like it was yesterday, but in high school even using a mnemonic device I could barely remember the English monarchs. Thanks brain for remembering the important stuff.

Ha. The difference is when I hear it, I'm spelling it as "Flow Ryda." No wonder I never saw it.

In fact, part of me thinks I used to believe it was "Flow Ryder" and the rapper just didn't know how to say his R's.
