Yep, she hadn't even met Harry yet. Meg Ryan was kind of a proto-Drew Barrymore imo.

Heard “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer,” this morning. All of these years and I didn’t realize that she was actually KILLED in the song. I guess that’s why we didn’t sing the second verse in school. #MerryChristmas

I need some kind of crunch in my chili but yeah, onions check the box too.

I think the third verse even mentions she was a floozy and a gold digger. Then theres the fourth verse about grandpa pushing her in front of that reindeer in a fit of jealous rage

Geez! That song got REALLY dark. Lol! Our music teacher shielded us from that. Guess it would have made for a pretty depressing Christmas program.

He may be joking, but I don't know. But even the 2nd verse alone seems rather un-Christmas-like with the grandma actually dying.

This revelation about the song makes me question my family's decision to get all the young cousins together when I was a kid to sing the song together as some sort of tribute.

It was meant to be in good fun!

I always thought the song was a parody song. Not like of a certain other song, but just of seasonal songs.

I never took it seriously nor have I heard it in full. It was always just too hickey and hokey for me.

I don't think it's a parody, but it's definitely not supposed to be taken seriously.

Same thing with that hippopotamus Christmas song.

Speaking of Christmas music, sad admission. I never listened to the home alone soundtrack before today. I knew the music in the movie was good, but never thought to listen to the soundtrack.

Speaking of, there are 2 kinds of people in this world,
those who didn't realise Home Alone and Die Hard are Christmas movies
and those who didn't realise they aren't.
