Well there are 3 sides to every story, your side, her side, and the truth, but it would really appear like she has the issues to leave a man that cares about his family and provided a nice home to live in to go be on her own and take care of a special needs child and a newborn by herself.

Just curious, what are her grievances?

She can't be with me due to my bipolar depression.

I paid to have a new home built, tried to adopt my step-daughter, and provided as best I can. I truly don't know what her true grievance is, because she knew about my illness.

That's rough, man. I feel for you. Can she cite any examples, any specifics? Because by all accounts you mention you have it under control.

As long as she can't cite any violence or erratic behavior, you shouldn't have a problem getting joint custody of your son and I would imagine that is the first primary focus here.

I really hope you can gain some custody rights for your son or even outright custody without a sharing arrangement. I can't imagine how hard this is for you and the kids too.

When you try and think or figure out why a woman makes these kinds of decisions, you just confuse yourself even more. Just from my experience, most women are pretty irrational and a bit crazy

No. She was over that very quickly.

Then when it goes to court what is going to be her angle? Unless she can site specific instances, she can't just say she doesn't want to deal with you and expect to get sole custody of your son. You should be golden.

I agree with you. CB should be ok when it comes to the custody of his son. Expect her/Lawyer to badger you but keep it clean and follow all the courts ruling to a T and listen to your Lawyer and you should be ok in that regards.

My heart goes out to you with the divorce part. It's never easy but you will get through. Lean on whatever faith you believe in or family/friends to get you through. I'm living proof. Was married almost 10 years the first time and next month I will be celebrating 11 years with my 2nd wife. Not ashamed to say I got it wrong the first time down the aisle.

things are going to get worse before they get better. I am having to pay out of pocket to do a Psychological Evaluation in terms of taking care of my son before anything else will move forward.

Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get my son, but I should at least split this with the ex.

Unfortunately, the woman has the upper hand when a divorce starts, at least on paper. So you're going to have to prove you're stable, which means she has no reason to pay half the bill. She's claiming your illness is the issue, you have to prove otherwise by whatever means necessary.

I scheduled the evaluation prior to going to court on advice from my attorney to show that I care about taking care of my son by taking care of myself.

Total amount out of pocket $3,642.

I feel as though I'm paying financially for the right to see my son.

Don't feel that way CB. There is no amount nor mountain I would not climb for my children. It's unfortunate but we have to do what we have to do. Listen to your attorney and follow his advice which it seems you have done up to this point.
