Sounds like, thru inference, your dad was living with you and you were trying to help him? I don't know the situation but I can only imagine coming home from work and seeing the SWAT team block off my entire neighborhood, to learn it was MY house and MY dad.

Such a sad depressing situation...I'll be praying for you, Psy.

I was home as things unfolded. He got home at 2:00 AM the night before, drunk, and pulled a gun on my mom. She managed to get out sometime between 9 and 10 AM; this occurred while I was sleeping. I was woken up around 12:30 Sunday afternoon to the sound of a policeman on a loud speaker ordering my father to exit the house with his hands in the air. I promptly checked my phone and discovered numerous missed calls and texts from my mom. I called her and learned of the events from the previous night. Knowing he was still in the house, I immediately feared for my life, to the point where I got dressed as best I could, opened my bedroom window, tore the screen, and jumped out into the bushes, whereupon police escorted me to safety.

What ensued was a 7-8 hour standoff as the police shut down the street and surrounded my house. Their goal (and the goal of any police in any similar situation, I guess) was to get the subject to peacefully surrender and come out; basically exhaust every option before going in with armed men and risk a lethal encounter. They tried to reach him by phone almost 50 times; he never responded once. They tried using some sort of robot to get in, and it couldn't fit through either the front or side door. They essentially destroyed our front door breaking it in, and sent in a K-9 unit, which also produced no results. Finally, around 8:30 PM Sunday night, the SWAT team breached the house (while filling it with tear gas), and found him dead in his bedroom (the circumstances of which are morbidly fascinating to me).

Time of death hasn't been determined yet, and toxicology report will take 6-12 weeks.

I've legitemately thought about your situation multiple times throughout my day after reading your posts. I tried to put myself in those shoes and it's mentally impossible so I can't possibly imagine what you're going through.

I doubt I can type anything out to improve anything, but just know you're really in my thoughts man.. OS might be too quick to diagnose people sometimes and lend advice that's not necessary, but as you all ready know with several more years here than me, it can be a pretty good outlet when you can't really put into words to those close to you IRL what you can type here.

I cleared this beforehand with Millennium and Steve, so I wanted to let you all know that one of my older brothers and his girlfriend set up a GoFundMe account to collect donations, not just for my father's funeral (we're likely going to go the cremation route), but also just to help my mom out with bills around the house. Our financial situation was already precarious; as one might expect, the events of Sunday will increase that burden.

Thanks for posting that, I'll donate something later today. One thing my wife suggested is going to Suicide Counseling sooner rather than later, she wishes that she would had done that and not waited until later...

Just offering a suggestion... I'm sure this would get more traffic if you created a thread. Only if you wanted too, of course.

Thanks for posting that, I'll donate something later today. One thing my wife suggested is going to Suicide Counseling sooner rather than later, she wishes that she would had done that and not waited until later...

I completely agree with this... My grandfather's suicide was very similar to Psy's fathers. I won't go into details because this isn't the time or place, but happened almost 40 years ago (before I was born) and I feel like my mom is still affected by it.

Psy, seek consulting, talk to relatives, vent on OS, etc. Just do whatever you're comfortable with, but just don't let it weight you down.

Just curious how you guys view OS...Do you do OS Real Time, Participated Threads, Today's Posts or just jump forum to forum? I used to do Real Time, but got tired of spoilers not being hidden, so now I just do Today's Posts..

On Tapatalk I go to Participated, then Unread post. I'll go to individual forums if I'm looking for something specific. On the desktop I usually just jump from forum to forum.

OS UserCP is my bookmark, and normally I don't view any threads outside of the ones that pop up in there already.

There is really zero reason to visit the cesspool that are the official games/sports forums. Rarely I'll go on tapatalk and view by unread and scroll through that. Other times a post will get pointed out for me to read/laugh at.

I'm sorry to hear the news Psy, I haven't been on OS since last week so I've been a little out the loop. I got some bad news also this weekend, my sister (31) died Saturday so I've been dealing with stuff similar to you. It's been a rough couple of days for both of us man......keep your head up man, time will make it better.
