They're so much more advanced than us that the selfie has finally run its course in their pop culture. I don't think we'll ever get there.

Re: The Astronomy and Physics thread. And things of the like.

News making the rounds about NASA shutting down the International Space Station feed when an unidentified object was entering Earth's atmosphere on July 9th.

Could be anything, and I know it's standard protocol for the public to only be on a need-to-know basis, but come on.

I saw a comment that summed it pretty well: maybe if we knew there was advanced life outside of humans we'd stop killing and hating each other as much.

        Doubtful, but maybe!

There would be straight pandemonium if the government admitted that we have been visited by aliens.

They were probably just playing Pokemon and bought the expansion map for planet Earth.

First in-orbit photo of Jupiter. Not spectacular by any means for many, but a good quick test to see if there was any initial radiation damage. Was taken about 5 days after entering orbit. First hi-res photos will be taken at the end of August.

It may not be spectacular from some abstract artistic perspective, but the fact that it is in-orbit makes it absolutely extraordinary.

I know this would be the belief of officials too, but why do you assume that?
The sad truth is you'd still be going to work everyday because you have bills to pay and a family etc... You can't just stop everything because aliens have visited and "storm" the government which is useless and impossible anyway.

More like pandemonium on twitter lol

It's mind boggling to think those are all galaxies. Full of stars and full of habitable planets around those stars.

It's amazing to think how insignificant it makes us. I don't mean that in a bad way. It's just that we aren't even a speck in the grand scheme of the universe.

And as always, my mind goes straight to thinking what other kind of life must be out there given the almost infinite places it could develop.
