I always start with this when trying to explain it; our closest neighboring star, Proxima Centauri which is 4 light years away, would take 81,000 years to get there with current propulsion technology.

That is almost unfathomable considering getting to the edge of the observable universe is over 46 billion light years from Earth.
I like the way Cosmos explained it. Basically, you stand on Earth and fire an imaginary arrow into the sky and it sticks into an imaginary wall. You go stand on that wall and fire an arrow and it goes into another wall. Basically you do that for eternity and never reach the end.

I thought the universe could only be around 14 billion years in size according to wmap radiation?

On another note, I'm in the market for a somewhat decent telescope. Nothing crazy expensive, fairly idiot proof, and a view finder that isn't a pain to setup. Any suggestions?

Speaking of which, every time we get one of those new discovery articles I just sit there thinking there are several people at NASA using telescopes just to look around until somebody hollers that they found something, and then they tell us about it.

This will explain it better than I can off-hand. https://medium.com/starts-with-a-ban...e-7a95cd59c605

And Amazon is a good place to look for a telescope. The reviews seem to be trustworthy considering they are left by people seriously into the hobby.

Also, I'm gonna leave this here. Very interesting and proof we've been lied to by the government when it comes to this subject. And by lied to, I mean them saying this stuff was no longer being investigated.

Yeah, you'd have to be awfully naive to think they haven't at least been looking into it over the years. Even if you're not fully fledged into the whole UFO/Alien Contact deal you just know the government would be doing everything they can to determine what exactly is going on.

Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything but that's the same video PV linked to right? Or is there another one.

No worries, just wanted to make sure. I watched an interesting document the other day that showed a bunch of encounters various pilots have come across.

Here's another article with a little more text. http://bloody-disgusting.com/videos/...o-filmed-2004/

The pilot talks about what it looked like and said there was a whole fleet of them.

And I'm sure the program is still going on in some capacity like the one guy said.

I enjoy reading stories about UFO sightings and abductions, but I usually err on the side of caution when doing so. It's not something I just automatically believe. I think a lot of people make stuff up or they actually believe what they have experienced, but it's something more mundane. But when you see stuff like this it lends a lot of credence to some of these stories and I do believe we could possibly being visited by something out of this world.

I think it's good to keep an open mind at least.

If anyone is interested, here is a youtube channel I watch that has a lot of good UFO/paranormal stuff on it. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW9...9IdCjGpf1U74GQ

I like it because the guy who presents everything is basically just presenting it to you without trying to influence your opinion and only presents the perceived facts of each case. Basically sticking to the original story without going off an any tangents.

The video is from 2004 though. So if it was aliens, they did their thing and bounced. Or are taking an amazing nap.

                              Interesting stuff nonetheless.

But I'm sure this stuff is still going on. It's not like that was the only example. They talked about interviewing pilots and civilians who've had sightings.

There are sightings all the time by credible people.
