I know nothing about weather, but it looks like there is a 100% of at least 100 MPH winds at minimum in Yulee. Is it worth sitting in that, then possible having no power or clean drinking water for days? Not to mention if it becomes a category 5 and doesn't let up as much going north.

Re: Hurricane Matthew
No its not worth it. If I had my way me and my friends (who are also my 2 roommates) would have packed up and left. I asked them to evacuate with me today (after seeing how serious the storm has gotten) but they are staying put. I am not as confident as they are that everythings gonna be just fine. but leaving them behind wasn't really an option i considered - they are like family to me. tough spot to be in. just hoping for the best.
This is how bad endings start...
If you have the means, I'd be out. You can come back in a few days if everything is still standing later. But once it begins, there's no turning back. No one thinks it's gonna be them until it's them.
I know it's easier said then done...NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Hurricane Matthew
After a few minor ones I was starting to get used to these storms in Florida but this hurricane looks like the real deal. The comparisons to Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Katrina are terrifying, as are the statements from officials saying if you don't leave "you will die". Lots of people here in my county just north of Jacksonville are evacuating. My friends, who I trust, insist its gonna be fine so I'm sticking with them during the storm. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. Depending on how the storm moves, it could barely hit us or it could mean absolute devastation. We will probably lose power for a few days or longer even, so I may not have the means to let people know I'm ok until its over. Please put everyone here in Florida in your thoughts. Hopefully everyone will be safe. I guess I picked the wrong year to move to Florida.
Are there mandatory evacuations for Jacksonville? I haven't seen how bad it's supposed to be there. I just know they aren't telling anyone in Orlando to evacuate.
Edit: I just looked at how it will impact Jacksonville. Looks like it will hit you but be down to a category 3 or even 2. If there. Are no mandatory evacuations and you live in a solid house or apartment you should be ok.
But I'm not a meteorologist so don't take what I'm saying as a sure thing. Do what you think is best and what emergency services are saying to do.
Good luck man.

As far as I know only jacksonville beach and those areas right on the coast have been told to evacuate. im about a 15-20 minute drive from the coast
and yeah I am in a very nice apartment complex so we are counting on it being able to hold up during the stormComment

Hurricane Matthew
I'll never understand why people stay for hurricanes especially for one this large. I have to stay for my job but I always evacuate my family beforehand. I got to New Orleans after Katrina but some of the people at my station were there when it happened and some of the stories they have is quite scary.

Re: Hurricane Matthew
It passed by ft Lauderdale, didn't cause any trouble at all as the eyes was still off the coast. It's in west palm right now. My family is in Palm Bay which is getting a direct hit from the eye around 2am. Gonna go into work then around noon hit the road to palm bay

Re: Hurricane Matthew
Checking in from just outside Orlando, ready for the cray cray stuff tomorrow morning. More rain than expected may end up being a bigger deal than the wind for my area.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: Hurricane Matthew
It's moved north and east a bit which may end up sparing some deeper inland peeps. It's still going to be just an insane storm surge either way.Last edited by ChaseB; 10-07-2016, 12:29 AM.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: Hurricane Matthew
Where near Orlando are you? I'm a bit southwest so I'm hoping that helps.
