That's awesome. I have both the UCS Tie Fighter and X-Wing in the box that I got pretty cheap. When I re-do the basement, they are going to make excellent book ends.

The X-Wing is my second favorite of all my sets. The only thing wrong with it is that it doesn't come with a Luke minifigure, but that isn't hard to remedy. The seat inside the cockpit is a little big for a minifigure (which is probably why one didn't come with the set) but I easily modified it and put a plate in there that a minifigure can attach to. What's great about that X-Wing that the non-UCS versions of them don't do, is that R2D2 fits in it properly. All the other X-Wings he always fits in at the wrong angle.

That UCS Tie Fighter is huge too! You've got to get the Slave I as well, that ship is awesome.

        Re: The Lego Thread

The Millennium Falcon one has a special spot in my heart. When the first set of it came out a few years ago, my nephew wanted it so bad and saved up his money for it. He knows that I am a HUGE Star Wars fan and called me from my sister's cell the second he walked out of the store with it and asked when I could come build it with him. That was like a Monday and he waited almost a full week for me to be able to make the trip down. I was amazed that he could hold off that long but, sure enough, he did.

Glad to see this thread taking off.

Next up for me is The Beatles Yellow Submarine set next week. Also thinking about picking up the Wall-E set. Reviews of that one have been very good with many saying how fun it is to build.

I was thinking to myself the other day about how cool it would be if Lego came out with sets of all the MLB stadiums. Probably a pipe dream but I would love that!

            Re: The Lego Thread

One of the funnest things we do is go to the lego store and maximize the number of logos we can get into the cup. The store in Detroit is laid back and will tape the lid on for you. So we put all the blocks together first and then put them in there. Always feel like we get good value out of the cup and we have a lot of fun choosing the bricks and getting them all to fit.

Going through this thread has made me want to go and order a bunch of lego kits. Good stuff fellas.

I could bring some in to work. Kids still love legos

There's some sets I really want (Kwik-E-Mart and Ghostbusters firehouse), but I just cannot justify dropping $200 on something I have nowhere to put.

Yeah. I really want that Ghostbusters firehouse as well but I just have nowhere to put it. At least the smaller sets I can display on a shelf or a case.

I really like the pop culture franchise IPs they've been adding over the last 10 years - especially since it usually leads to a video game of some kind, but if they ever bring back some of their classic lines I am in deep trouble.

                      I'm talking things like:

                      Forestmen

                      Islanders
                      Spoiler

                      Pirates

                      Western
                      Spoiler

Seriously - I want a game with all that in it.

Going to stop at a Lego Store in New Jersey after work today and check out the holiday sets if they have them. Would like to make a Christmas village complete with holiday train this year.

My current Lego project is my Christmas village. I have it placed out with plenty of room to grow over the years. I have a post office, toy shop, cottage, bakery, Santa's workshop, market square, and a train. Right now I'm working on creating a ski slop for my new holiday train to go under. Here's a pic of the village under construction..

                            Amazing man!

Where did you find the white base plates and street markings?

Let me tell you, baseplates are expensive, there's no way around it. Lego sells the street baseplates are $12 for two patterns. One package has a straight and an intersection, the other package has a curve and a T-junction. I've never seen them at Target, maybe ToysRUs has them, but I just buy them from amazon. Lego sells 32x32 (10" x 10") tan and green baseplates for $8 each, you can get those at Target. They also sell a really big gray one that may be 50x50 or something like that.

As for the white ones, I buy knock-off ones on ebay. Some Lego fans would never do that, but it doesn't bother me, it's the exact same thing just in more colors. They still cost about $5 each, but Lego doesn't sell plain white or black ones (I use black ones to put my minifigures on). For this village, I think I'm using 25 white baseplates, pretty expensive huh?

Holiday Train and Winter Toy Shop sets bought! Got a free 250 piece holiday set with my purchase too. Can build little holiday related items. Next up is the Santa's Workshop set on Amazon. Luckily that set is on sale. May have to get building on them now. Haha. 3 sets at almost 1,000 pieces each.

Snagged this little set on sale for $4.99 there. Pretty cool Dracula and bat 150 piece set for Halloween.
