I haven't had Gatorade in awhile. Ashleigh will buy the blue, but every time I have one anymore they're too sweet.

If I buy any sports drinks its the Powerade. The only normal flavor I will drink is twisted blackberry, but even that is a little too sweet. Most of the times I'll buy Powerade Zero in Grape or Blue.

So I'll be coaching HS Football this year for the first time. I'll be an Assistant working mainly with WRs but I'm definitely excited for the opportunity.

Anybody else here Coach or has coached in HS? Anything I should keep in mind but I do know this is a different animal from coaching rec league ball.

Also, there's a Gatorade flavor, I believe it's Tropical Blend, and it's the WEIRDEST flavor I've ever tasted.

For me it's Powerade Zero or get out. Blue is my fave, then orange and grape. I stock up when they go on sale for like 59 cents

I get the big variety packs on sale. 16 for like $12 or so. Probably works out to around 60 cents US when factoring in conversion rates.

2 signs I happened upon the last 2 days.
one was in a dollar general mens rest room. sign says do not throw femimine products in the toilet.
the second was a sign that said "all employees must wash hands when done". under it said the same thing, in braille. now who's gonna read that?

I coach HS girls softball, so I don't have many recommendations. Guys coaching boys and ladies coaching girls is a vastly different experience than coaching players of different sex.

Only suggestion I can make is keep them hydrated (toughness can be measured in plenty of other ways), and don't let others haze in any ways that you wouldn't do yourself as a coach. Also, if you're an assistant, don't step on the toes of higher coaches.

Gatorade, Powerade both taste way too damn salty.

I've read that Gatorade tastes sweet when you're dehydrated and salty when your well hydrated.

Can't confirm because both brands always taste salty to me.

I think Shiz coaches middle school football

HS sports in USA are obviously diff than they are here so I'm sure things are likely better over there but still...One thing I hated back in HS were how the coaches had no idea what they were doing. Just generic drills for most of time, and the part that made me quit....Lack of notice on practice(they literally called practice the moment school ended on a Friday...through the PA system. I got fed up with that and quit, and they lost every game that year without me lol). You're an assistant so you probably don't need to focus on schedules, but just make sure everyone is aware/ok with when practices are happening.

In HS especially, make sure if people can't come/have other things going on(part of other teams/extracurricular activities or just extra homework help), make sure you at least attempt to meet them halfway and take off the stress of them trying to figure out how they'll manage doing everything they want.

So what day do they usually play high school football games in Canada? Because in the US they'd virtually never have practice on Friday afternoon because that would be game day.

Random Google Maps question, and I'll use an example to ask it:

Say I'm driving from San Francisco to San Diego and I leave at 5:00 PM. I understand that Google Maps knows what the current traffic at that time is, but when it is estimating the time I take to get there and I have to drive through Los Angeles on my route, is it using the current LA traffic as part of its time? Or does it realize that I wouldn't get there for another six hours, and that closer to midnight the traffic would be significantly lighter by the time I get there?

Hope the question makes sense.

LOL the question was whether Google Maps estimates the time it takes to travel based on current traffic, or based on the traffic they expect you to have by the time you reach that certain part of your route.

I would assume they account for future traffic.

I think it accounts for future traffic too.

Waze is good. Real-time tracking and rerouting, and it takes you around traffic if need be.

It's about 4:45 from SF to LA and about 2 hours from LA to SD, so....
