Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
I remember when she first started. Used to think she was cute, now we've both kind of grown to the point I don't see that side at all.

Got a random off-topic question (good thread for that, yea?):
Are there cars of this that don't allow you trunk access without the keys, permitted that you can at least get into the main area of the car? I can't think of any that wouldn't have at least one of the following:
- A lever/button inside the car to pop open the trunk.
- An "unlock all" button in the car where you can then proceed to the trunk & lift its handle, should it have one.
- A keyless way to fold down the back seats and get to the trunk from the inside.
Don't know if a car such as that one would be lacking all three features, but maybe someone can prove to me otherwise.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
Thought this would be a fun discussion to open up. A site did a poll asking Canadians about how they refer to certain things. Everything from what they call a carbonated beverage to what you wear on your feet. I know Canada and USA are diff when it comes to stuff like this and I'm sure there's things that are called diff things in diff parts of USA, but I'm sure people might find some similarities here too.
This is the article in question:
From pop to toque, cottage to pencil crayon, it turns out that there is a surprising amount of diversity within Canada when it comes to how we talk and the words that we use. We surveyed ten thousand Canadians to see how we talk around the country.
Using the poll, I answered:
Spoiler
Couch (though I usually just call everything "chairs")
Pop
Running Shoes (I mostly just call them "shoes")
Remote/ Remote control
Utensils
Soccer baseball(kickball sounds so much better, but I grew up with gym teachers always calling it soccer baseball)
Take a test(either one here could work for me)
Grades(again,both could apply)
Toque
Pencil Crayons
Markers
Washroom(Washroom or bathroom I'd use,but probably washroom more)
Hoodie
Hydro bill(here I think is diff for diff people because hydro is water/electricity)
Garbage disposal
Bristol Board
Chocolate bar
Eavestroughs
Track pants
Mac and cheese(it's like Jacuzzi/hottub. All Kraft Dinners are mac and cheese, but all mac and cheese are kraft dinner)
I don't use spendy
Grocery store
Dee-cal
Care-a-mel
Sher
pi-jam-as
toronn-oh
Pylons
Elastic band
Cranky
Prah-cess
Fall
Dinner
Corner store(interchangeable with convenience store depending where it is. Me for example, there literally is a store at the corner of my street so I call it a corner store. Other stores like that in diff areas I'd call convenience store)
Cottage
Never realized how diff the country is on things you'd think were just basic names for stuff. Can't imagine how diff it'd be just comparing counties like Canada vs USA. Guess it really is obvious to spot 'out of towners' just by how they refer to basic things.
Majority actually call it Kraft Dinner(Kraft is the mac and cheese I have, but I just call it mac and cheese). Outside of my area, mostly everyone calls it 'Supper' over 'Dinner'. East vs West coast shoe battle lol. West coast with 'Runners', central/east with 'Running Shoes'. People here call summer houses 'cottages'. Most used term is Cabin and ironically, the place that gets labeled "cottage country" actually calls them 'Camp'. No surprise on the 'Toronto' pronunciation since it's more of a city thing(how people from here pronounce it vs everyone not from here is diff, which is true of many cities).Last edited by Majingir; 08-29-2017, 11:51 PM.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
Not quite Rent A Spoons but still interesting nonetheless
Sports fans may soon have access to all different kinds of jerseys in a way that's never been possible before.
A new company called Rep The Squad will give fans the chance to rent a different jersey each week for a monthly subscription.
The subscription allows fans to pick a jersey they want to wear and it's then sent to them one at a time. When the jersey is sent back in a prepaid envelope, the next jersey in their queue gets mailed out, just like the early days of Netflix DVDs.
The cost of a monthly subscription is $19.95 for adults and $16.95 for children, but not all teams and sports are part of the service just yet.
Brian Watkins, who came up with the idea for Rep The Squad told the Daily News his company would help fans who may find buying jerseys expensive and can solve the problem of what to do when your favorite player leaves town after you buy their jersey.
"I was a big Marshawn Lynch fan when he was on the Seahawks, but now he's on the Raiders, the enemy, so I can't wear that jersey anymore." Watkins said. "I think this idea really helps deal with the issue of access vs. ownership."
When the company launches Wednesday there will only be jerseys for fans of the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions. The company bought thousands of jerseys with every look and every size, including different Russell Wilson and Barry Sanders tops.
Watkins said he hopes to expand to the east coast in the near future while the company looks to break into other leagues like the NBA, MLB and NHL.
"We're going by city and by sports franchise, but our goal is to cover all leagues and all teams," Watkins said.
Rep The Squad will also offer different packages in the near future. Some ideas Watkins has are for seasonal deals, family packages and specials on certain collections.
When each jersey is returned, it's dry-cleaned with no additional charge. However, if a jersey comes back damaged, the customer will be billed
Rep The Squad is based in Seattle and already has investors like Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin and Lions receiver Golden Tate.

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
This poster is so boss, but I'd have to wait for Episode VIII, the Han Solo film, and Episode IX at the very least so I would have something slightly more complete.

Yup, she's great! Though I haven't seen last week's episodes yet, and I believe this week's are happening tonight or they already happened so I'm going to have to remain spoiler-free for a bit.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I'm sure this is great advancement.

scientists led by Nicola Pugno at Italy's University of Trento have succeeded in combining spider silk with grapheme and carbon nanotubes, producing a composite material five times stronger.
Remarkably, the composite is produced by the spider itself, after first drinking water containing the nanotubes.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks
