Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
Going to try and claim an exercise bike for free from my high school that they are getting rid of. Now it's mostly a matter of transporting it to my house and finding a place to put it.
Hopefully it will be nice to be able to multitask in, either watching TV, playing Rocket League, or heck maybe even grading. Just keep the legs moving is all.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
How do you guys know what diet is right for you? Keto is interesting but seems more like a quick way today to drop weight. I almost feel like just counting calories and eating cleaner is a better option for me. I don't know.

Side note I've finally started going back to the gym (been doing at home bodyweight stuff for about 4 years). Jumping back into the 5x5 Stronglifts program that I had a ton of success with when I was last going to the gym. Really motivated right now which is a good thing. Bodyweight exercises are solid but man I miss actually lifting weights. I'm gonna start off slow but hope to see some good gains in a few months.Comment

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
I've never been one to follow one diet strictly. When I started wanting to be healthier I looked at what I was eating and made necessary changes. Cut down/out milk. Cut down on pasta. Stopped eating out as often. Basically things I know I could change and live with - not for 6 months, but 60 years.
To me that is key. Eating and being healthy is a lifestyle and not something that should be slipped on for 6 months and revert back to bad habits. Of course it's easy to say and harder to stick to. Some people can limit themselves and moderate with great success. I'm the type of person where if it's in the house I will eat it so I try to keep my pantry clean.
Every so often - especially if I feel I am plateauing - I will review my food intake and look at what I shouldn't be eating or should be eating less of.

^ Do you have cheat days/meals on occasion, though? Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
Just completed my registration for the Rock 'N Roll Half-Marathon in PHX that'll take place in mid-Jan. 2018. The course, and more importantly, start/finish lines are right by my office, so that's huge for parking and can also stash away water/Gatorade in my fridge for after the race.
I'll have to add another running day to my schedule, so likely will cut down my spin classes to 1x/week. Goal is to run 4x/week with 1-2 days of strength/cross-training. I'd like to finish a little under 2 hours, but likely will be in the 2:00:00-2:10:00 range.Currently Playing:

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
Just set this up. Legit power rack for some heavy lifting. Been going back to the gym doing the 5x5 Stronglifts routine but with my work schedule and family activities it was hell trying to get there when it wasn't stupid packed. Broke down and got the garage set up to fit this in. Just waiting on this badboy to get going:
Super excited to get going. Been doing the 5x5 for a little over a month now. Starting slow but making good progress and now I really have no excuse. My goal by next year is to be pretty damn jacked. Kids want me to be Green Arrow for Halloween so I can't let them down. Gotta fill out the suit lol.

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
I was able to fit in my wedding suit but gained about 15 pounds after that. Started doing insanity about a week ago. Goal is to complete the first 30 workouts for the first time after owning for 2 years December 25th.
So far I've done 4/5 workouts on time. Missed one day but should be back on track Friday.

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
They're intense for sure.
I'm on the last week of Hasfit's 90 Day Hero Routine. I'm not sure it reaches the intensity overall of Insanity, but some days have been challenging. The major difference is that those videos are no-break routines whereas Insanity gives you 30-40 seconds between sets.
They have a lot of great workouts and I've had noticeable toning in my abs and arms. There's some really good recipes on there, too.
After this week I plan to hop back into Insanity for at least the first month while complementing them with various Hasfit routines and hopefully tackling a 30 day challenge of some sort.
For next year I would like to do the Couch to 5k App. I've always wanted to a race/mudrun/etc, but have never had anybody to do it with.

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
Down 4 pounds since starting Insanity last week. In addition I've made some diet adjustments.
I work 10 hour shifts sitting down in a office building downtown Atlanta. I was eating chips and candy as snacks through the day and indulging in fine trash cuisine with the bevy of takeout available at the foot of my building. Happy to say I've been abstaining from the trash like fried foods and French fries and eating salad when I don't have my lunch.
I didn't have one bag of chips or candy and had the discipline to skip the vending machine all together. Not one soda. Made my breakfast for the most part every morning.
Pretty proud right now, but I'll be prouder when I hit 30 days and get my wife to start exercising

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
Great job. Changing your food lifestyle can be difficult and is so easy to fall back into. Like I said previous Hasfit.com has some good healthy recipes for meals and snacking. Some of the ones that come with Insanity are pretty good, too.
My in-between snacks usually consist of greek yogurt, some kind of fruit (typically in the morning or at lunch), or a mixture of nuts/raisins. Chips are always my downfall, but they stay at the house.
