    I think it's state by state. I live in Colorado, and any professor that teaches at a public university/college has to abide by the same rules. It could also be a matter of enforcement.

      I like athletes speaking on topics, specifically racial topics. Being that so many NBA/NFL players have went through what we deal with, its great to have them speaking up. Though I don't look at athletes as leaders in the black community, they are role models so them speaking on something will help the youth see that its more than just basketball/football.

        Humans are much more interesting when the Carl Everett's of the world speak out on such diverse topics as dinosaurs, the Apollo moon landing, and Adam and Eve.
        Much better than that "take it one game at a time" and "I'm just happy to be here" drivel.
