Depends on where you live really. Up here where I am lawn mowers, air conditioners, etc. don't go on sale until December, January and February. They really hold their prices until Black Friday passes.

Form me, getting an electric one that can also be a mulcher would be nice.

Best one I've found so far. Even full price isn't so bad, but would be nice to get a sale, or if it goes on sale after I buy it, hopefully the price match after purchase(if they allow it) isn't too much of a hassle(some people act like it's most complex part of their job and make you spend 30 minutes waiting for them to finally figure out how to honour their 'price match guarantee')

When you live in a city where it can snow in November, you have to get rid of summer stuff by October for the latest.

Speaking of snow, I've wanted to get a new snowblower(one I have now is only a foot high, and many times, if snow is less than a foot, I just shovel it myself anyways), but might just suck it up one more winter and once the winter is done, replace it.

Re: Anyone else enjoy doing yard work?

It's that time of the year again. Long weekend coming up, time to start getting things ready for the summer.

Probably have to accept I'll never get rid of my raccoon problem

From reading online, sounds like using a lawn roller might not be best solution to the "bumpy lawn" problem. People seem to suggest just laying topsoil in the lower down spots.

Also time to start thinking about planting things. Potatoes are ones which can be done earlier, but I'm thinking more about where to put each thing (I've heard planting things in same spot every year is bad), and what would be best option for soil/fertilizer.

          I absolutely doing yard work.
Throw in a dip and put on some head phones and could mow and work in the yard all day.
Funny thing is a have lived in a condo for about 9 years now so I have no yard work.
When I was married we lived on 4 acres and I moved 3 of them and loved it.
My current gf that I have been with for about 2 years has a decent sized yard that she gladly lets me take care of.

That's one thing I don't mind. People, especially in bigger city, like the condo life. No shoveling snow, no grass to cut, none of it.

I cant imagine living in a condo and not being able to do any of that. Mowing the lawn is ironically peaceful.

              Same here, minus the dip.

I have a little over 3 acres and I absolutely love taking care of the yard. What shocks/stumps family and friends is that I mow it all with a walk behind mower. I'm just not a fan of riding lawnmowers.

I'll mow the lawn with the walk behind and then trim.

              Great exercise.

My parents didn't understand my request to do their yard (4 acres) with a push mower instead of a zero turn rider they have. They convinced me to use to rider and I ended up leaving divots all over the yard

I would've been fine just spending a whole day push mowing that sucker

Yeah my friends/family tell me that I could cut it quicker with a riding mower, and I'm like how? How fast do they go?

Besides with some of the cutting in and all around different objects, I'd still have to get the walk behind(push mower) to cut it or the weed eater. So in my mind, that adds time.

The beauty about living out, is that I don't have a next door neighbor so I can get started as early as I want. I usually start cutting around 6:30-7:00 in the morning. I'll generally start by weed eating in the front yard (which is smaller) and then make my way around to the back where there is less weed eating to be done. Then I grab the mower and away I go into tranquility and peace.

I hate it all. I'm currently in the process of finding someone to clean up our flower beds. I'm ready to pay someone to handle cutting and weed eating too but I'll probably wait one more year. After being in our house close to 10 years and dealing with the Louisiana heat, I'm just ready to be done with it.

The cutting is too bad, it's the weed-eating that I hate.

I'm currently formulating my summer strategy. I hope my neighbors don't mind me cutting grass at 6am or 8pm because it's happening.

I have about 1.25 acres to cut and weed eat, but I'm also working on a flower bed for my wife, have a few french drains to dig, and I'm fighting my Great Pyrenees because she keeps digging holes in my backyard. I'm about to square up with her.

Because the larger deck. How wide is the deck of your walk behind?

Yah. No thanks. I have 2.5 acres. I'm not cutting it with a 22" mower. I'm glad you like it though. When it's July and August in Texas, I'd prefer to shorten the length of mowing as much as possible.

It's cool that you can do that though and that you enjoy it.
