Re: Anyone else enjoy doing yard work?
One day we'll have VR so advanced, this will be a reality. All I can picture is a game free roam style. You drive from location to location mowing peoples lawns, trimming hedges, cutting down trees lol.
At times I feel like I do too much yard work, but it's really only weekly things. Probably just because people around me don't do much (some would only mow their lawn every other week if even that, or trim hedge once a month), so it seems like I do alot.
Trying not to make it look bad when in the span it takes neighbors to mow their lawn once, I probably did it 2-3 times. I'm sure people probably are like "you're mowing the lawn AGAIN? Didn't you do it last week already? Your neighbors lawns are way worse off, I don't think yours needs mowing".
Same goes with watering lawn. In summer, especially if it's not raining, you'd need to water it or else it dies/gets burnt. I'm there watering lawn, while neighbors never think to water anything. So I'm basically watering grass that already looks better than everyone elses. I'm not trying to rub it in.Last edited by Majingir; 06-03-2019, 11:31 AM.Comment

Anyone else enjoy doing yard work?
Picked up a new chain and a bottle of oil for our electric polesaw. Trimmed and shaped up (as much I could reach anyway) all the trees in the back. Cleared up the dogwoods that were starting to crowd the side of the house and get touchy with the roof. Trimmed up the black maple and cleared it away from the roof and over the deck and got down some dead limbs. Our neighbor has a giant oak tree that has grown over. I got as much dead off of that and trimmed it back from overcrowding our trees. They also have an elderberry tree on the line so I cut off all the droopy branches.
Things are starting to look good. Grass is growing in from where we seeded last week. The weeds we sprayed are starting to die back so those spots should be ready to plant grass in a week or two. Things are already starting to get dry so might need to keep the sprinklers out all summer unlike last year.
Anyway. I'm curious. How many of your guys' neighbors maintain their yards? My average seems to be 1/3 or 1/4. We have neighbors across the street that are fairly active outside. In the back we have neighbors that were renting their house and now they're living in and fixing it up. So they've been outside fairly regularly. Outside of them I only ever see people outside to mow. There might be a weekend where the bushes against their house is trimmed, but largely nobody else does much to do their yard.
My neighbors on both sides SUCK when it comes to maintaining their yard. It's almost to the point where'd I offer to take care of their yards for a relatively small fee. One side will cut it on a semi-regular basis but their lawn is almost weeds. The other side doesn't cut it that often and it's infested with weeds. I've invested a decent amount of time and money into keeping my yard weed free (still have a few spots here & there) but when you drive by house the difference between my yard and theirs is night & day. Let me grab a pic:
My yard is on the right and as you can see, not only does their grass suck but they also must have mowed their yard drunk smh. This is the first time they’ve done that though and they’re pretty nice people in general.Last edited by KG; 06-03-2019, 07:14 PM.Comment

And on topic, however much I might enjoy working in the yard, the real enjoyment is when the job is done for the day. nothing much like sitting on the porch with lemonade admiring the fruits of laborOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Anyone else enjoy doing yard work?
Lawn care simulator would probably work lol, people would compete online for mowing pattern championships, make your yard look like your favorite ballpark, or create your own design! Then there would be DLC for sprinkler upgrades and lawn feeder boosts, so your grass will grow greener and faster and you can quickly kill more weeds and create more designs. Earn tokens to purchase an edge trimmer, lose points for not cleaning up the clippings, not churning mulch, not raking leaves.
And that's just summer, snow removal simulator brings an all new element to the game!Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Anyone else enjoy doing yard work?
Picked up one of these a few months ago, and it's been great. I've actually gone full Ego Electric for all my yard tools. Mower, trimmer, hedge trimmer, leaf blower, pole saw. I've been very impressed with all of them. I love how easy they are to start, how quiet they are, and just the convenience of not needing to fill up the tank. Get a surprising amount of life out of a single charge too. I can mow my full yard and trim/edge on one battery. I have a 2nd battery just for those days I need to do more than mow/trim.Comment

Re: Anyone else enjoy doing yard work?
A house not too far from mine never mows their lawn. Someone comes every week to do it. No matter how much it may or may not grow. They don't even have a big yard. Probably takes under 30 minutes combined to do everything including set up and pack up.
Anyways, I saw a different kind of lawn mower. Looked almost like a toy. It was like those Segway scooters but it mows the lawn. Now that's a sign you're doing good business. My neighbors on both sides SUCK when it comes to maintaining their yard. Re: Anyone else enjoy doing yard work?
I have some neighbors down my block that are kind of like that. Half the time I just want to run down there while they're out and mow it myself because it looks terrible. They also happen to have tall trees with hanging branches in front of their house, so whenever I walk down that way there's always that few seconds where I go from a nice walk to being in the frickin jungle. One of reasons why I can manage living in a house VS condo. Especially living in the city, so many get accustomed to the condo life. Never putting out garbage, shoveling snow (though this at times is annoying), mowing lawn. I can't imagine not doing it. Even growing up I used to help with the little things before I could use mower or snowblower. So I've been doing this type of stuff in one way or another basically since I could walk lol. Condo would feel too confining.
At times I feel almost like I could handle the country lifestyle. Ironic since I live fairly close to downtown and Jurassic park.Last edited by Majingir; 06-05-2019, 01:40 AM.Comment

In this case, theirs doesn't actually look bad. Who knows, maybe someone takes care of it too, but I only notice the ones mowing it because of the noise.

How does someone in a condo not have to take out garbage?Comment

Re: Anyone else enjoy doing yard work?
I don't miss trying to keep the spot in our old yard that'd never really grow grass well alive....Our new house has the desert rock landscape and some fake grass in the back yard that's actually much better for our kids vs. the hard ground you end up with here. Back in Michigan I'd have dealt with grass, but AZ it's just harder.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
