I made the switch from gas powered weed eater and leaf blower to battery powered.

      Very happy with the change.

I will completely change over at some point, but those two were top priority.

I dont think I've ever used a leaf blower to blow leaves before.

I've used it a few times on grass clippings but that's it.

I dont see difficulty in just sweeping or taking things up. Then again, most of yard isnt surrounded by pavement so not much to clean.

If you lived in my house you'd likely think differently. I love trees and we bought our house in the autumn where the entire backyard was filled with all sorts of pretty leaves. After we moved in I didn't realize the amount of raking...omg the amount of raking. Two solid 8 or 9 hour days of my wife and I both raking. Raking until we had blisters. Raking and then baggging and transporting, it was terrible.

Fast forward to the next year and I spent $300 at Home Depot to get a backpack, most powerful leaf blower they had. Got it home, gassed it up and 5 hours later all leaves done. No help from my wife.

And most importantly, I enjoyed blowing all the leaves, it's kind of zen-like. And no blisters!

Now that I've been doing it for a couple of more years I can do the entire yard in about 4 hours. I've learned the ins and outs of how to better control and direct the leaf pile.

All I know is whoever invented this backpack leaf blower is at the top of my list of people who should get into Heaven if there is one, LOL

Yeah, if you have more than one big tree in your yard I can't imagine using a rake to get leaves up.

We used to live in the woods and you just couldn't win the battle with leaves. I had a backpack leaf blower, but it wasn't enough. I eventually just started mulching them with a lawnmower.

Biggest problem for me is a pine tree that's on my neighbor's property and a sweet gum tree on another neighbors property. I like them, but the brown balls that sweet gum trees drop are annoying. You can't run them over with a lawnmower because it's not good for the blades and it sounds like you're trying to mow pieces of metal. I'm going to get one of those sweepers to help with that stuff by next year. I'll probably wait until the winter when I can find it cheaper.

There are what I'm talking about:

We have one huge water oak tree in our back yard and just suck em up with my riding lawn mower and bag them. I can fill up 6-8 of those large lawn and leaf bags in about an hour. The only place I have to rake is around the flower beds and between our storage shed and fence.

I enjoy riding on the riding mower, its therapeutic for me. But running up and down with a push mower. No thanks CB lol.

Yup, a sweeper is the way to go. I have a sweet gum tree in my yard. The first year I had my zero turn, a sweet gum ball blew up and got my drive belt and deck belt at the same time. It totally sucked.

I wonder if theres something unusual this year in the air(east coast at least).

Seems like allergies are worse this year for people than usual.

I never had allergies before, but this year at times I can feel it in my throat, almost like allergic reaction.

Ironically, when doing yardwork I'm fine. Mowing the lawn and all that, I'm fine with. It seems like if I'm upstairs and especially if window is open, that's when I feel it.

There were plenty of news reports about how high the pollen count was this Spring. Considering all the rain we got last year it makes sense.

That would explain it. I looked at pollen report and seems like a few things are high(Pine,Fir,Spruce in my area). Not sure if it's normal or not to be high this time of year.
