I am watching the news about this whole laundry pod eating challenge. I am always amazed at the new levels of stupidity this young generation seems to accomplish. Also the amount of effort in public service announcements to tell people not to eat poison is mind boggling.

        I'm worried about our future.

I look at kids these days, damn I feel old, and I just think...what the hell is wrong with you?

Maybe my elders did the same thing to me when I was younger, but I don't remember doing some of the stupid stuff that today's youth does.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

If they had social media/Smartphones/internet and reality TV, you bet this could have started earlier.

But yep, I really see the dumbing down of today's generation, specifically in this country.

That being said, it's not all of them. It certainly seems to be many of them, though.

There is no doubt I did stupid stuff when I was younger. Hell, at times I do stupid stuff now. I just don't remember the things I did ranking up there with eating Tide Pods, and I certainly don't remember settling my differences with guns. You had an issue with someone, you met in the schoolyard, park, parking lot, or somewhere and you settled it with fists.

I think the thing that bothers me the most about today's youth is the apparent lack of value for life.

                re: Off-Topic

I think what's different is that all these new technologies have allowed people to get "famous" - even if only for a few seconds - on a scale that was not previously possible historically. Coupled with a celebrity-driven media that glamorizes fame for the sake of fame and new generation of internet "personalities", and kids are just taking their historic idiocy and applying it toward doing whatever/whenever necessary to get famous.

So basically: kids are stupid (same as always throughout history) + social media + concept of "viral" = seemingly new levels of stupidity.

When I was a kid, worst I ever ate was probably sand shaped like ice cream in a cone.

Laundry pods..... What's wrong with people?

Sad part, this and many things companies have to warn people about are because it actually happened. Like those ridiculous warnings like "do not put bag over your head" or "do not spray in eyes" and other stupid ones.

When I was a kid my idiot friend told me that brushing my teeth with liquid hand soap would help polish them. That's probably the worst I've come around ingesting.

The reason I call him an idiot is because he did it then and there with me.

If people are now voluntarily ingesting laundry detergent it just shows that Darwinism is failing

Last night was one of those rough nights, where I kept dreaming of my late mom. I don't know what triggers these dreams, but they are rough to deal with. I fall asleep dream and then wake up, upset. Try going back to sleep, do, dream, and wake up upset again. Rinse and repeat.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I'm sorry. I do have to say that I dream about my late everything's all the time (father, pet, couple of friends), but often when I wake up I convert those moments to pleasant thoughts. The only way I wouldn't is if I relived the moment of their death, in which case I never have experienced that yet.

I suggest you post them in CMH's dream analysis thread and we can open up a much bigger dialogue on these encounters, their meanings, and our interpretations of them. That is, if you are willing to speak about it.
