I'm sure he issued himself a citation and self-reported to his insurer.

Seriously, the way traffic laws are weaponized in this country to serve as a source of forced revenue for municipalities....I better just stop now.

I figured he would report that he had his lights on and that the motorist didn't move as they should have thus causing the accident.

Just watched that Michael Larson documentary about his time on Press Your Luck and the actual episodes he was on. He was the guy who had spent hours at his house studying the movements on the board, made it to the show, then ended up winning $110,000+. It was fascinating to watch him do it. I know some will disagree with me but I respect the hell out the guy for what he did. It must’ve taken him days to tape, watch and recognize the pattern from the show. Especially because it happened in the 80’s where he had to get tapes and manually record it every time and he couldn’t have every episode taped in 3 clicks on his TV remote.

The fact that a guy essentially hacked a game show in the 80s has always been fascinating to me

Yep I had the story before but never watched the episodes or the documentary. And I definitely feel bad for the two other contestants. That had to be brutal watching a guy win that much and then find out later on that he manipulated the game.

Never knew any of that stuff before or anything about that guy, but definitely sounds ahead of his time. Especially nowadays seeing people trying same things, some actually having success at it. Harder on gameshows since I'm sure they randomize things alot more than they used to, but on Survivor I remember one contestant knew the show so well he was able to manipulate things to his advantage and basically changed the way they produced the show.

That's a very ambiguous description in comparison to Michael Larson. Care to elaborate on your Survivor story?

                I haven't heard about it.

They had a contestant(Russell on season 19) where a main goal of his was simply showing people how easy it is to play Survivor. One part of the game is how they hide immunity idols at camp where those idols can be used to save yourself from being eliminated. Up until this season, people needed clues(usually from winning a challenge or being selected by the other tribe) which would help them find it.

So what Russell did was that he watched the show enough and realized where they were hiding all these idols(usually up a tree, or by the water well, etc.), so he went out and almost instantly found the idol without even getting a clue. He would do his multiple times. Basically became his trademark on the show. So the show had to get creative in future seasons with people realizing it's possible to find idols without clues. Some you couldn't "activate" its location without getting a clue first, others you wouldn't even realize it's an idol without a clue.

He basically changed the way the game is played/produced because of showing people what you can do by studying the game. Sure, seems like common sense, but it really never occurred to others before.

and yet this season a dude found an idol 3 straight weeks without intervention... supposedly

instead of allowing a player to crack the code, they just crack it for them now

He found them because his tribe was stupid. Nobody bothered watching him so he had all day to look each time. And nobody bothered looking for it themselves.

It can't be rigged or scripted or else the shows would get in alot of trouble.

But from watching these types of shows, my theory on them is that they get asked leading questions which helps them. Big brother specifically. In the diary room, if they constantly get asked whether they can trust a certain person, that doubt gets in their head. So it might not be scripted or rigged, but things could be steered in certain directions. No surprise that some of the best players didn't seem to tip their hand in the diary room,so not even production knew what was happening.

Yeah, I know there is a huge market for reality tv shows, but I just don't get it. And I honestly believed that its all staged.
