 re: Off-Topic

Crazy story and good they were able to get him help. I've actually read/heard a few stories like that on the news over the years.Around 2am-ish (East) this morning some friends from my Battlefield clan were playing together and were in a party chat when one of them started having a seizure while playing the game. Luckily someone in the clan knew about his past medical issues and recognized something wasn't right.

They went straight to our GroupMe looking for personal info for him because he lives alone. Someone had his name and someone else had his phone number + they were able to track his IP through some clever PSN snooping. They were able to track his approximate location and call the local EMS who then used his name, phone number, etc. to find the right address and said they were dispatching someone.

So they were still in the party chat and his headset was on so they could hear the paramedics arrive, treat, and say they were taking him to the ER. This morning someone in our clan called and confirmed he's in the ER still, but obviously they couldn't tell him anything more than that.

Just an incredibly scary thought and amazing how resourceful some guys in our clan were to get him some help ASAP.

Yeah, seriously, NCAA 14 is the only reason I even still have my PS3. Actually just bought a wired PS3 controller so I could continue my Pitt dyansty (in year 32) as my PS3 will no longer recognize/stay connected to any wireless controllre.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

 re: Off-Topic

Like I said before, we could have an entire grind my gears thread devoted to driving.

I don't get those peoples logic at all. Get in and drive off. Especially when pulling out of a driveway basically stepping hard on the gas to do so.

And the ones who have engine on and just parked up, and pull off in an instant are so bad. You think they're just stopped, but they decide they'll go without even looking. I've seen that more as a pedestrian. I'll get to a stop sign, see a car 10 feet back pulled aside, cross, and suddenly that car drives off and almost goes past the sign too.Next year? His Will is probably instructions to a location on a map where you must dig 12 paces from a tree, find the key, then dig 25 paces away, find the map to a storage facility, and use the key at said facility. Once in, you'll find Christmas gifts for the rest of time.Mikes already got next years Christmas presents bought and wrapped lol

 re: Off-Topic

 I used to think this.

Then I've subscribed to a Honda forum and learned about how vulnerable direct-injection vehicles are from a cold start, especially when the engine isn't well-lubricated throughout before you start driving. So if I'm at a cold start, I'm waiting 30-60 seconds before heading out, and driving at low RPM's up to a few minutes after my engine reaches operating temperature. I just hope nobody is waiting for me all the meanwhile.Last edited by Blzer; 10-16-2019, 08:52 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

That's diff. In winter especially you better have engine on for at least a few mins before you go, assuming you haven't driven it in at least a few hours and the engine is cold.I used to think this.

Usually that'd just happen when leaving home or work. Not so much if you went shopping somewhere for like 30 mins or even an hour or 2.

There's a reason why some of these newer cars let people start up their engine before even going in their cars(both so they don't have to sit there for a few mins, and also for security reasons for those who leave car on and go back inside for a few mins)Last edited by Majingir; 10-16-2019, 09:38 PM.Comment

Unless you live in extreme weather conditions letting a car idle for more than a minute or two is excessive.

 re: Off-Topic

I had a lady honk at me at Wal-Mart one time because I was situating myself in the car and apparently she decided she was holding up traffic to get my spot when I left. She stopped and waited from the time I was loading groceries in the trunk and I saw her, but didn't get in any special hurry. Then I checked my phone because my wife had texted me and was about to put it in reverse and she started honking her horn.
