Re: 2020 Fitness Adventures
Lucked out with TS Cristobal and got 2 MTB rides in over the weekend. Back to the gym today.
Decided to stay with my current gym. Really wanted to give crossfit a go but with my my job and them not having a full schedule right now it just wasn't going to work.Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur

Re: 2020 Fitness Adventures
I did a good job of avoiding burnout by running for a mile or no more than 1.5 miles several days a week. I would typically do 2-3 longer runs (3-6 miles) each week as well. Certainly could've done more mileage, but I also ride my bike a few times a week and didn't want to completely fry my legs. Doing a mile run after riding your bike for 2-plus hours is tough. Due to the weather, there were several runs that consisted of me literally running laps in our basement (we don't have a treadmill), but I can't say there was a single day that I thought not to run.
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. I absolutely noticed a positive difference in my overall mood and work focus/productivity during this time; I took a couple of days off once the streak was over and yeah, was already stressing out more than I had the previous 6 weeks. It was nice to have something goal-oriented to work towards since there's no road races happening anytime soon.Currently Playing:

Re: 2020 Fitness Adventures
I've slowed my pace of running/week for a while. I'm only running once every 3-4 days. Normally I'm just doing a 3-mile run.
On Sunday I decided to do the little bit extra in a 5K (just over 3.1 miles, heh) and got 19:58. That's good, I just wanted to make sure I could break 20. I was going to do a 5K the time before, but I was running mid-day and it's been 100 degrees outside. By the time I got to 3 miles I was already at 19:44 or something like that, so I said "Screw it, I need water. Won't break 20 minutes anyway."
As a plus, I'll be doing more than just running now. One of my old softball players posted a video stating how she was doing some "22 push-ups each day for 22 days" thing, and since I haven't really done any push-ups in a while I figure I'd start with this and then increase the load after those few weeks. I'm also going to help out my godfather a few times a week with some boys doing baseball workouts starting tomorrow morning, so it'll be good to get out there again.
Right now, between running days I'm just sitting on my ***. I really should have been at least walking or something. Wish I could get my damn stationary bike to function.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Some shots from my Lincoln Parish Park trip a couple weeks ago. Only got to ride one day since they were closed on Saturday but man what a cool place, wish I had stopped to take more pics but was having too much fun.IMG_20200628_151931_616.jpgIMG_20200628_151931_612.jpg

Re: 2020 Fitness Adventures
Last Friday I ran a 35:33 five-mile. I think I can break 35 minutes by the end of this month (which would be sub-7:00 mile averages).
I also ran a 5:19 mile last Wednesday. I think it's going to take a little longer than just through August to break 5:00 again. The good news is my last lap was my fastest lap at 1:17, though the bad news is even at that pace for every lap I'd still only be at 5:08. Shaving seconds is a lot more difficult at lesser distances like this, especially when you are pushing yourself a lot harder.
I finished the "22 push-ups in 22 days" thing last week, and cranked it up to an extra push-up every day so now I'm at an even 30. Now I'll start developing more push-up exercises as if my arms are capable of doing much more since I've been laying off of them. I'll probably update this bit in September, haha.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: 2020 Fitness Adventures
The 5-mile is a charted route on a trail (cement path) right by my neighborhood. Going from my house to the end of the trail is 1.25 miles exactly. I have to complete it in two round trips.
The mile is done on a track at my high school, yes.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: 2020 Fitness Adventures
5K time today was 19:48.70. Better than my last time a couple of weeks ago, but my knees and shins are really feeling it now.
Besides washing two cars tomorrow lol I’m taking tomorrow completely off, then I’m working with some baseball kiddos Sunday, then back on the track again Monday. Hopefully my legs can get that little bit of repair work this weekend.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Do you ice down or use foam rollers/massage guns?
They really help me with recovery

Re: 2020 Fitness Adventures
I use the foam roller 3 to 4 times a week and stretch nightly before bed.

Re: 2020 Fitness Adventures
Did a three-mile track run last Friday and got
I was supposed to do a timed mile run today (was hoping to get under 5:12), but the Napa wildfires have come over here and... well... I don't much want to breathe this air in.
Going to try and order yet another battery for my exercise bike and see if I can get it up and running again in a few weeks.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Definitely best to keep it indoors for a while, Blzer...it's pretty nasty out there. Like holding your head over a campfire.Comment
