I was hoping that the fact that the year had been removed from the title of the thread would be enough of a hint that we weren't starting new OT threads every year anymore since the thread doesn't see anywhere remotely close to the same amount of activity as it used to.

Anyone else watch the yearly Twilight Zone New Year's marathon on Syfy?

I have the Blu-rays so I could watch them whenever, but there's something kinda nice about just having a marathon on too and throwing it on between games or other shows.

Yes - I learned the last few years to record them though because inevitably due to the nature of the marathon some of the best episodes air when I’m sleeping so I can kind of pick and choose which ones to watch. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve seen every episode by now.

Yup, I could watch any Seinfeld episode if I wanted to but I don't want to, but if I'm switching channels and Seinfeld is on any episode TBS chooses will do.

This is an odd phenomenon that everyone is aware of but it seems like it deserves a name. Like you guys, I love when a SyFy Twilight Zone marathon is on, even if I could easily watch any episode I wanted any time I wanted to, but I never do. But if the marathon happens to be on, I'll watch it. Ditto Seinfeld or the Simpsons. Why? I have no idea. I guess it's some combination of laziness, lack of inspiration, and maybe the fact that it's usually a secondary channel to whatever ball game is on and I can't easily switch back-and-forth between Netflix and a football game (or 3) the way I can between channels.

I don't know but this is a definite thing.

Right? I don't know what it is and it sounds a little dumb typing it out, but there's a difference between choosing to pull a DVD out and pick an episode vs just flipping through channels and going "Oh, this one's on..."

I feel the same way. Even streaming things too. I can watch any episode of specific shows whenever I want, but if I see a rerun airing on TV somewhere, I'll just tune in there, restart it from the beginning, and skip commercials.

Maybe if they had a random select option for those series on streaming services. All I know is there is no way I am watching a sitcom on TV in 2020 and sitting through those commercials. That ship left the dock a long time ago.

Hulu gets annoying with the constant 2 minute commercials.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

The thing they're best for is channel flipping. In the middle of a game if theres a commercial, or intermission/halftime then you can always just check out some other show for a bit.

This is me with movies. I've seen and have become interested in so many movies I'd never pick on streaming services or DVDs by randomly flipping channels, watching a bit because it was on.
