Curious to know what you call a "hot dog."I know it only got its name because of the city in Germany but I refuse to call a hamburger a hamburger because it lacks ham.
I'll call it either a cheeseburger or a cowburger.
Edit - I know some burgers lack cow but I refuse to eat a soy burger or a tofu burger.

Something I've been trying to figure out for the last twenty plus years, and I think about every time we change our clocks around...
..i used to work with a guy who would show up late for work EVERY single time the clocks needed adjusting. Didn't matter if we lost an hour or gained an hour, he would always show up late that Monday morning. So I understand how you show up late when you lose an hour but how do you show up late if you gain an hour? I could only figure he was trying to take advantage of the excuse but I've also heard since that there are plenty of people who show up late this time of year because of setting the clocks back. But how???
Which bring me to my next thought about Daylight Savings. Why don't they compromise and set a new hour mark at the the thirty minute mark between the Daylight Savings time and the Standard tume and not move it ever again. Because really, whats thirty minutes extra of daylight anyway? Recalibrating every thing to the thirty minute mark between hours is the best thing IMO.Talk about things nobody cares.

Definitely used it as an excuse if it happened that often.Something I've been trying to figure out for the last twenty plus years, and I think about every time we change our clocks around...

But I can understand people in the spring forgetting to do so since it goes ahead an hour (I'm already looking forward to that. I already hate it getting dark by 5pm and it's only been 1 day). Your phone automatically changes, but people might still forget (if they work on Sunday), but those who don't use their phone or computer much if at all and don't have a physical calendar, they might actually be unaware enough to know the clocks changed.
As for the permanent change, that's one thing that has been talked about for decades it seems like, and one of the things I actually believed when the US government was saying that during this term they wanted to get rid of time changes. This is only the 2nd one of the term (and first clocks going back), so maybe by the spring they'll introduce some Bill to get rid of it? Though if that's the case, it'd make me think the current time we have all be permanent rather than a "we're changing clocks forward and then that's it", which would be worse because then peak June would have sunrises before 5am and sunsets before 8pm and who even needs that?
I hope it happens sooner rather than later. Today for instance, sunrise is around 7am here and sunset around 5pm. If time didn't change it'd be 8am sunrise and 6pm sunset. Given the world runs a lot on a 9-5 schedule, isn't that the more preferred hours of sunlight? Or do they just prefer this change for schools (since by December you'd be having sunrises closer to 9am)?
I can't wait until late January when the time change starts getting more noticeable the other way and it gets dark after 5:30 again.

To get away from the Seinfeld references for a second and actually answer this - there is a bill that was passed by our Senate in 2022 but it didn't pass in the House of Representatives. The Senate just tried to pass it again thru a quick method, but using that method was opposed by one senator, so now it'll become a longer process with the usual debating back and forth, etc etc. Still no guarantee any version of it will pass the House, but that's where things are at here.As for the permanent change, that's one thing that has been talked about for decades it seems like, and one of the things I actually believed when the US government was saying that during this term they wanted to get rid of time changes. Some states have passed their own legislation regarding changing the clocks but I don't know if any have actually gone into effect.Comment
