Re: We need a little Christmas!

This Christmas season is flying by. I have watched more Hallmark Christmas movies than I care to admit and we have started making plans if we have to have Christmas dinner by ourselves. I don't think it will be necessary since my sisters and parents are isolating until Christmas. The only way we won't get together is if the government makes a law that we can't (don't get me started) and/or one of my family members break their isolations. We are fortunate to be able to do such a thing, I know most people cannot. I just pray that this time next year everyone will be able to be together. Now that would be a great group Christmas gift.

I hope you guys are all making the most of your Christmas season. 11 more sleeps.
I am the lesson after the fall.

I know governments want people to stay home, but if people honestly try, I think they probably could make it work.

Think about it. Last day of work/school for many is Friday. If by Friday evening you stay home and don't go out or interact in person with anyone, you have a full 6 days of isolation. Closer to 7 by time Christmas comes around.

No large gatherings obviously, but I'd think immediate family at least could trust each other to isolate for a full week beforehand to make things work. Nobody here would lie to each other about not actually isolating or having as much as a sore throat.

Just my opinion on the matter.

Simpsons did a pretty good parody of Hallmark movies this weekend. I don't know if anyone still watches Simpsons in season...29? 40? 65?, but if you know Hallmark movie structure I think the episode is worth a watch.

I think you'll be fine. Taking reasonable precautions beforehand and keeping it limited to the core family sounds nicer to me than having to make small-talk with random cousin #12. I'm also not a doctor, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Hope your plans all work out for you guys.

Simpsons one was funny because of how similar every hallmark movie made is. I still honestly can't believe you can have the same people acting in the same kind of movies year after year and people continually watch it. You can't get lazier than that when it comes to producing movies.

Speaking of small talk with random cousin #12, that's a small part I'm glad about not having any big thing happening. The same old "Hey, hows it going. So what have you been up to? Where are you working? What do you do with your time?" questions I have to answer multiple times during the day, every year.

I look forward to the meals and anything fun that might happen. All the small side talk and downtime, not so much.

Usually depends on who is hosting stuff. Some peoples houses has small spaces so you're basically all grouped together on couches or at tables. Other places has more room to wander off to diff parts and see what's going on in diff areas. One in particular has kids who have a playstation (I wouldn't be surprised if they have a ps5 by now) so theres an easy excuse to wander off for most of that time and "bond" with them, aka just play games.

7 days out from the big day. That means 6 more nights of coming up with ideas for Elf on the Shelf. It is hard to keep coming up with hiding spots for the little bugger. My daughter finds him within seconds, no matter how well I hide him. I've also gone on line for some ideas. There are some good ones, but Mary is only 4 and some of those internet ideas are way too old for her.

The next 7 days will fly by, especially now that Chapter 16 of The Mandalorian is over. OMG was it amazing. Hope you all are enjoying the season as much as possible.

              Something I never knew existed.

Netflix has some documentaries called The Holiday Movies That Made Us (and The Movies That Made Us). Basically docs showing how those movies were made. I haven't seen it yet but it sounds good.

Some movies include Elf, Home Alone, Nightmare Before Christmas and others.

4 days to go. I bought myself a little early Christmas gift. I bought a pair of Jordan 11 Jubilees. Not like I need more shoes, but it's their 25th anniversary...so, I had no choice. LOL. I think my wife will buy that excuse.

                      breakfast was yum! nom-nom-nom

                      and merry Christmas Eve everybody

How did we get here already? It is part of the reason I start celebrating Christmas so early. The holiday season just flies by. Our household is full of energy and I'm looking forward to putting the kids to bed. Then my wife and I can put all of the gifts underneath the tree. I'm excited for the kids to see the tree in all it's glory in the morning.

We are going to have a White Christmas in Toronto. It has been raining all day, but at 4pm it turned over to snow. Just like I ordered. They are calling for 10 to 15 cm this evening and 2 to 4 cm during the day tomorrow. I love when it snows, especially on Christmas Eve.

Well gentlemen, I'm looking forward to hearing how all of you Christmases went. I hope Santa is good to all of you.

                        Merry Christmas my friends.

Re: We need a little Christmas!

Crazy how fast this time of the year comes. Feels like the time from end of Halloween to December goes by so slow, but that final few days before Christmas happens so quickly.

We actually have snow outside! "I'm dreaming of a white christmas, just like the ones I used to know" ironically never applied to many places in Canada since we don't get much if ant snow around now. We have way more Green Christmases.

One thing they have this year is drive through Christmas events. Decided to take some family to that. Wasn't expecting much, this was more for kids, but seeing (moreso hearing) one little family members reaction to everything was the best present this year. Talk about excited. I've never heard them react that way about anything in their entire life. You could even see the staff for the event having that "this is why our job is rewarding" feeling, especially on Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas OS! I’m here at work today. Did a work buddy a favor this year. His mom passed away recently and he’s got young kids so I decided to work Christmas for him.
