    ultimately, I probly won't, anxiety/fear is too in control, but the idea of drinking less and having fewer sleep/anger problems is enticing
    You may have tried or already do this but a suggestion: Reading Google reviews with pictures of the places you haven't been may help ease that anxiety. That way you know what the facility looks like, know the layout, store hours, etc before arriving.

      I have, but that's a great tip to bring up for anyone in a similar situation, google street view especially, you can zoom in and see the parking situation, the door locations, helps you visualize and prepare before you head out

        I'm not sure it's exactly the same but since I work from home I have noticed that I began to have apprehension and anxiety about going out, esp to places I have not been to before. My therapist's advice is to go out more, she gave me a homework to go out 2 places each week and 1 of the 2 should be a place that's unfamiliar, which you can revisit the next week or week after.

        It's helped me out a bit using this tactic. I really don't have much anxiety anymore going out now.

          yeah that's the face fears tactic, it's never really worked for me. Like, instead of facing the fear and coming away thinking "I did it! I got this!", I'm more like "thank god that's over, I never wanna do that again!"

            Please don't take that I am dispelling the notion that going into a public place isn't attributed to anxiety, but could it be a by-product of the disposition of shyness?

            Remembering back as a child, I was uncomfortable going into the store with my mom or grandmother, often choosing to stay in the car. When I got older, I would send my brother or sister into the store, while waiting in the car. Now, as 50 50-something adult, I wait in the car while my wife goes into the store.

            Just a thought.

              31st year in my profession and this is exactly how I am. I know my business, I can talk my business's game well, but meetings involving the entire staff is uncomfortable.

                Our bodies have a plethora of pressure points. In a matter of seconds, I could quickly disable someone without causing any disturbance. I say that to recognize how important it is that we respect this knowledge, giving it to others that need it but will not abuse it. Pressure points can benefit all of us in so many ways.

                One pressure point between your eyebrows is known as the hall of impression point, or yintang. Applying acute pressure or massaging in circles can relieve anxiety, sinus issues and pain. Look at the area between your thumb and pointer finger on your left hand. With your free thumb and pointer finger, feel into the web and find the muscle in the thumb. This is the adductor pollicis muscle, but it is also the union valley pressure point.

                Measure three finger lengths on the inside of your wrist. That is known as the inner frontier point. Applying pressure there will ease anxiety and pain.

                I used these and other pressure points when I was going through self-therapy and bringing myself off of all pain medications after I messed my neck up. I still use pressure points regularly during yoga and enjoy teaching others when possible. Our bodies offer us so much that we don't take advantage of, only because it is more profitable for pharmaceutical companies to keep pushing pills instead of teaching people to care for themselves.

                Google the heavenly gate, great surge, and shoulder well pressure points as well.
