Re: *The FIFA 15 Manager Mode Thread*

Ok I am looking to start a new manager mode because I had one with Chelsea where I was at the May Update and the game keeps freezing every time I try to enter the Academy, just to even look at. So I created a poll of who I should start a new one with. I am going to post it in the lat gen forum. Here is the link I will leave the vote open for another half hour. So you have sometime to vote.

West Ham United - Episode #41: Points Dropped or Deserved?

In this episode, we sense a bit of tension and unrest from the players, while we show a wealth of gameplay. We host Legia Warsaw in the Europa League before Premier League contests against recently promoted sides Fulham and Norwich City.

        Jamie Winfield* - 8
        Korey Smith - 7
        Marley Bishop - 6
        Riccardo Basso* - 6
        Luke Freeman - 5
        Harry Maguire - 4
Several others with 2 and 1.
        * - Academy Player

I sold Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (who was my highest rated striker) at the January window, because Everton gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. They initially offered me $3m (he is valued at $4.2m). I didn't really want to sell him, so I countered back with $7.5m. Well, sure enough, they accepted it!

So I have a little bit of a bankroll to work with going into my first Premier League season. I might spend it on a veteran defender, maybe a RB/LB, just to give myself some depth on defense.

My Academy players are really growing into a nice, young core that I think I can do OK with in the EPL. Basso at LM, Winfield at RM, and Raglan at CDM. They are pretty much the pillars of my team, all are rated in the low 70's now (the best being my CDM at 74).

Very happy I was able to convince Harry Maguire (the CB I bought from Hull) to play in the Championship for a couple seasons. He is rated 76 now, and he is 24 years old, so I would think he's still got some time to develop. He'll be my rock on defense, which I will need against all the great clubs in the EPL.

Really looking forward to diving into my fourth year!

West Ham United - Episode #43: Who Wants Out?

In this episode, we head to snowy Leicester City for a Capital One Cup tie before leaving to Portugal to take on CD Nacional in our fifth Europa League group stage match. Also, we see some potential rumors about players potentially on their way out in the January transfer window.

My apologies for the Leicester footage, the PVR had some minor issue causing the footage to run slowly.

LONDON -- Juan Mata was able to sneak past Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy in just the 12' to give Manchester United a 1-0 lead over the host Gunners.

Chilean International Alexis Sánchez was able to provide Arsenal with an answer in the 39' off a stellar pass from Danny Welbeck who was more than pleased to provide a scoring answer vs his old mates.

The draw was able to keep Arsenal 2 points ahead of Manchester United atop the Premier League table with just one match to play before we head into December. Arsenal will host Anderlecht in the 5th Match Day of the Champions League, followed by a road match at West Brom on 29 November.

                  Preseason Wrap-up

The preseason screeches to an abrupt halt with Luton Town finishing with 1 victory and a pair of defeats in what was largely a spectacle for the youngsters of the squad. In his first game as manager, Tyler Zupan conceded a 1-2 decision to Alfaisaly FC and rebuffed the lineups, moving players about in a hope to bring forth some synergy from the youngsters as it appeared to work, as four days later, they defeated Brann 1-0 in a friendly away from their home field.

Returning to home however, the team fell apart, with almost all youngsters playing, Tigre ran roughshod through the overmatched lads and produced a 1-3 result. It was hard to consider it too much of a defeat as several top players took a seat and allowed the younger ones an opportunity to play in front of a crowd.

The team has made no moves to date in the transfer window but has definitely been active, especially in looking for a replacement for Mark Tyler who at the age of 37 is very likely calling it quits after the season, especially with an expiring contract. The veteran goal tender will likely be phased out as the season progresses if a replacement is found.

There was an injury in practice when center back, Luke Wilkinson collided with Ross Lafayette in the box and collapsed to the ground holding his knee, he would walk off the pitch on his own will and while it was ruled out that there was a break or fracture, the area is wounded badly and he will miss at least a week of league play. With the injury, the starting XI looks as follows.

The team will want to address an average at best mid field, the striker position needs an upgrade and depth across the back end is an issue, naturally League 2 teams aren't typically very talented but this is a team devoid of a "top talent" and will need a joint effort to live up to expectations of fighting for a playoff spot come the end of the season.

                    Bristol City, English Premier League
                    October, Year 4

                    TRANSFERS OUT:
CB Derek Williams (age 24, 73 OVR), Bristol City --> Aston Villa: $6,000,000

                    TRANSFERS IN:
CB Winston Reid (age 29, 78 OVR), West Ham --> Bristol City: $9,500,000

After being promoted to the EPL, our 2nd CB, Derek Williams, shocked the board with a transfer request. We were forced to sell him to Aston Villa. He was valued at $3.4m, but we were able to get $6m from Villa for him, so it didn't end up being too bad of a deal. It was a good thing that we sold Emmanuel-Thomas to Everton. The funds from that transfer, and the $6m from Reid's transfer left us with quite a bit of money available.

With that, and with a sense of urgency due to our lack of depth at the CB position, we scoured England and Italy looking for a first team quality CB. We put in bids on several players, but ended up working out a deal with West Ham for 29 year old Winston Reid. He is rated at 78; he is paired with Harry Maguire, who is rated 76. I feel pretty good about having my 2 best players both being my CB.

Now, onto the season. It's been a rough start, we're currently tied for last in the league. Only 5 games in, though.

                    TABLE:
                    1. Chelsea: 5-1-0, 16 pts.
                    2. West Brom: 5-1-0, 16 pts.
                    3. Manchester Utd: 4-1-1, 13 pts.
                    4. Arsenal: 3-2-1, 11 pts.
                    5. Southampton: 3-2-1, 11 pts.
                    ...
                    15. Hull City: 1-2-3, 5 pts.
                    16. Stoke City: 1-2-3, 5 pts.
                    17. West Ham: 1-2-3, 5 pts.
                    18. Cardiff City: 1-1-4, 4 pts.
                    19. Sunderland: 1-1-4, 4 pts.
                    Bristol City: 1-1-4, 4 pts.

It appears as if I will be in a relegation battle. Although I think I will be able to win a few more games as the season goes on and I find my groove.

                    FIXTURES:

                    vs. Liverpool, L 1-2
                    @ West Ham, L 1-2
                    vs. Aston Villa, W 1-0
                    @ Swansea, L 0-4
                    vs. Southampton, D 1-1
                    @ Newcastle (League Cup), L 1-4
                    vs. Norwich, L 0-1

Delph and Noble offer the stability in midfield, while I have Cresswell and the Ox set to bomb forward and assist in the attack.

                        Reserve XI

A similar set up to my first lineup, with Kouyate as the ball winner and Rabiot starting the attacks. Morrison has tons of potential, and Wickham and Sakho offer a similar pairing to Carroll and Valencia in terms of player styles.

                        Other Notable Squad Members

                        Kevin Nolan, CAM, 72
                        Carlton Cole, ST, 70
Thiago Caeiro, LM, 70 (Youth product)
Francisco Rodriguez, RM, 71 (Aged 20)

Let me know what you think of the squad. Obviously, it is very deep at each position, but we don't have any true superstars, though the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Carroll, and Cresswell are well on their way to that capacity. Morrison, Rabiot, Delph, and Kouyate also offer exceptional room for growth.

The January transfer window is just a week away, so let me know what you think of my possible transfer targets (at the end of the episode) and also who you could see me shipping off or what position that you think I should address!

^^ Love that team Moose. You have built it well.

I actually haven't played any Fifa in a month or so but thinking of starting a South Hampton Career if I do play again. As always, great vids! Keep up the good work!

Edit: My question is though...Why keep letting downing take those free kicks? I know I've seen atleast 3 times where Cresswell has put them into the back of the net...Seems like he would be a better option...I dont recall downing scoring one

Downing scored a pair last year against Aston Villa and someone else that I can't remember, but he's similar to Cresswell in that they have similar FK stats but Downing is a bit better in the stats department (82/75/81) compared to Cresswell (75/76/74) though Cresswell has been scoring them lately so maybe I should give them to him.

Re: *The FIFA 15 Manager Mode Thread*

I have enjoyed reading these posts for a while now and feel I should share how my Manager Mode career is going. I chose to manage Viking FK from the Norwegian Tippeligaen. Why did I choose Viking? I wanted to play as an average team from a mid to small sized league with no obvious power team such as Ajax in the Eredivisie, or Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. I wanted to play in a smaller league to try something different as it seems that everyone chooses a team based on one of the same few scenarios: an elite team with a ton of money (Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, Arsenal, etc.), a Premier League or Championship team with lots of potential (Southampton, QPR, Derby County), or a League 1 or 2 side to bring up through the ranks into the Premier League. Basically I wanted a different type of struggle where I could never make a ton of money without European success, get elite players, and there is a “glass ceiling” on what could be accomplished.

I usually use a 3-4-3 formation because I like offense, but I do occasionally switch to a 4-4-2 if I’m up a goal late in the game. I play on professional (don’t judge me too hard, I only started playing on FIFA 13), and I don’t use sliders. I don’t have any “house rules” per say, but I usually only scout in Europe, and my youth scouts only scout Norway, and the other Scandinavian countries, with one or two trips overseas per year. I don’t spend a lot of time buying players during the transfer windows, I try to save money by using free transfers as much as possible. I’m Canadian, and admit I don’t know everything about soccer (football) strategy, but I’ve picked it up as I played the game, and watched it on TV (we only get BPL, Champions League, and Europa League games for some reason).

Anyway I hope you enjoy reading about my path to Manager Mode glory.

                                2014-15 Season

Canadian managing prodigy Martin was chosen to take over as manager of Viking FK, a team in the Norwegian Tippeligaen. The expected upper mid table side had a mix of young up and coming players as well as a group of older players in or just past their primes. The 3-4-3 formation is not familiar to most at the club, but the players seem to embrace the change.

As the season began, the results came in slow starting with a draw against Rosenborg. As the weeks went by, and the players started to gel in Martin’s new system, results began to improve. By Christmas Viking were second in the Tippeligaen, leading the league with only one loss to Lillestrom who were the league leaders at the time.

During the winter transfer window, no players were bought, however ST Sandro (OVR 67) from Barcelona was brought in on loan for an offensive boost. Henry Chikere (59 OVR) was sold for $200,000.

The second half of the season went well. With the team going on a long winning streak, Viking were able to gain first place in the league. They managed to hold on until the end, winning the league with 66 points! ST Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (68 OVR) lead the Tippeligaen with 17 goals, while RW Yann-Erik de Lanlay (71 OVR) along with Sandro provided an offensive spark every once in a while to lead the team to the top. CDM Joakim Jorgensen (70 OVR) and CAM Makhtar Thioune (OVR 70) also played notably well this season. In the Norwegian Cup to end the season, Viking completed the double over ODD in a successful opening season for Martin. Apparently Real Madrid won the Champions League, and Borussia Dortmund won the Europa League (The European leagues didn’t show up so I have no idea who they played in the finals).
