West Ham United - Episode #93: Aaron Pirlo!!!

In this episode we see some of our big players from seasons 1 and 2 possibly on their way out of the club due to some tempting transfer offers. We also take on Newcastle in a hug fixture in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi final. Who will be on their way in and out of the club?

I have a difficult decision to make. I've been the manager at Stoke City for two or three seasons now and I'm starting to build them into a power. Have Paul Pogba, Giovani Dos Santos, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and some other good young players. I just signed Marco Reus for after his contract expires.

But I just had Barcelona randomly offer me their manager job. I've grown attached to some of the guys at Stoke, though I'd assume I could probably buy them with the massive budget you get at Barcelona, and it would be cool to expand my horizons to another league.

            What do I do?

Re: *The FIFA 15 Manager Mode Thread*

Just got back going with some career modes since I have more time with the end of the semester. Been a while since I've been on here but excited to use the OS Community Sliders with these two sides.

              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3wXonw1zp10" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Excited to use this side but I do need some depth and am thinking of trying to get Viktor Kovalenko who can play CDM and CAM. Think I'll be fine there. Would like to find a really good Target Man or false nine so I can move Vela to Right Wing. Great offer for Agirretxe that I think I'll have to accept. Could give Finnbogason a shot but I was thinking of going after maybe Llorente if he's affordable, Jorge Molina who is a really nice target man. Could maybe go after a center forward type but I'm not sure who else to look for. Got some suggestions for Alexander Mitrovic but not entirely sure if I'll be able to afford him.

              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-33HTAASp14" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Never played a career mode in the Eredivisie so this should be fun. Excited to use Tommy Oar, Rubio Rubin, and Ayoub. Some nice young talent on the squad. Could maybe improve at fullback a bit even though I have some depth and would like another winger or right mid in place of Verbeek since he's just on loan. Think I might move to a 4-4-1-1 rather than that very offensive 4-3-3 I was using in this episode.

I know exactly how you feel man. I had the same dilemma, funnily enough also with Stoke City but it was PSG instead. It is a really tough decision but in the end I decided to leave for PSG because I felt like my Job at Stoke was done (I'd just come second in the league for 2 years running and got to the last 16 of the champions league stage.) You've just got to ask yourself "Have I taken this team as far as I can" and decide weather you want to go for a new challenge or try and take it to the next step.

The only problem with buying players from a previous club is that, while they may be good enough for Stoke are they good enough to be in the first team at Barcelona? I had to make the tough decision to leave 2 or 3 players at Stoke which would have played little to no part in my PSG team.

                Hope this helps.

Thanks. I ended up making a new save where I took the Barcelona job so I have some time to decide on which I want to continue with at least. I feel like Barcelona might just be TOO good though. Over $100 million budget plus all their starters are about an 85 or higher, and if I were to join Barcelona, it would take away one of the teams I love playing against, so I'm thinking I might wait for something else to come along. I also have an offer from AS Monaco in Ligue 1. They're pretty good, but not really one of the major teams that I like playing against, but they just had a financial takeover so they now have a $100 million budget as well, but not nearly as strong of a roster as Barcelona.

With Stoke, I was able to squeak out a premier league title and I'm currently 3rd or 4th in the tables through 23 matches. I'm not too attached to many of the players on the team, but there's 3 or 4 guys that I've brought up through my youth squad that I've grown fond of that I might bring with me if I leave. Their overalls aren't great, but they play much better than their ratings suggest because they're out of position.

I think I'm ready to try a new league, but I'm not as educated about leagues outside of the premier league. I don't really want a league that's extremely top heavy, but I do like the fact that I'd have to beat out PSG in Ligue 1. That would be a hell of a challenge.

Honestly I think LIGA BBVA would have been great if you were a team other than Barcelona. Trying to catch up to the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid and the different tiers of teams behind them in Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao, and Villarreal would have been very interesting.

I switched to AS Monaco in FIFA 15, and found it was a fun team to manage (mostly because they had Falcao and James Rodriguez). Ligue 1 is a pretty good league outside of just PSG. Marseille, Lille, Olympic Lyon, and St. Étienne provide good competition. The great thing about AS Monaco is with that large budget, and no real star players, it is relatively easy to create a team that plays your style of game, filled with players you hand select to purchase, and you will always have the funds to be able to compete against Europe's best in the Champion's League. The other good thing about Monaco is in the game they often under perform and finish somewhere around 5th-6th in the Ligue 1 table, so if you ever get bored of your current club, they are usually available if you check the "browse jobs" section regularly.

2019-20: From Viking FK to Union Berlin

I feel that I accomplished all I could at Viking FK. After you start to attempt to sign players who are over 75 OVR, they refuse to sign with you unless you ridiculously overpay for them (ex. $70,000/ week to $130,000/ week). I have also figured out players over 80 OVR will not sign with you period as they are all “top players at their clubs” even if it is not true. Also the competition in Norway was getting far too easy. If I put my best team against a mid-table club or lower, I would always destroy them 4-0 or worse. I would never fight to win games, and the worst result I ever get is a draw in the Tippeligaen. The only challenging games were in Europe against the best clubs in the world.

Essentially I took Viking as far as I could, so I felt it was time to switch clubs before the game became to repetitive and dull. I had a good run winning 5 consecutive Tippeligaen championships, 4 Norwegian Cups, making 2 Champion’s League Quarter Finals, 1 Semi Final, and winning a Champion’s League Final in 2018, giving the club a European treble.

My new challenge is to manage Union Berlin into a European powerhouse. Currently in 2019, Union Berlin were a mid-table 2. Bundesliga side that was aging, and needed new life if it was going to stay competitive.

Why Union Berlin? I wanted to choose a club from a country that I never played in before, and I chose Union Berlin because Berlin is one of only a few major European cities that does not currently have a strong Champion’s League competitive team (Hertha Berlin is not good enough). Also Union Berlin is a former East German side, and there have not really been a competitive club from East Germany since the wall fell.

My goal is to get promotion in the first year, reach the DFB Pokal final in my second year, and receive a Europa League spot. Wish me luck.

West Ham United - Episode #94: MASSIVE OFFER COMES IN!

In this episode, we face Arsenal in a massive clash that sees goals flying in the nets at both ends of the pitch! We then sell off a couple bit part players before a massive offer comes in for a member of our starting XI and threatens to shake up the entire lineup! Who might it be on their way out of the club?
