Really want to love this game but 90th minute goals/scripting are killing me again

Anyone else feel the same way? I really do love a large part of this game but in manager mode, I can pretty much tell if I am going to draw or lose before game ends. Same old stuff - phantom penalties, terrible passing by my ai players, goalies not moving, etc.

Just played a game. Was up 1-0 in extra time and had possession of ball. Passed it ahead to player on wing who was wide open but pass inexplicitly went way past target right to cpu. They brought it down dribbling through all my guys and shot but I was able to block it. On the other side of the box, a CPU player ran into my ai player, tripped, and fell. Penalty, goal, and 1-1.

This has happened earlier more times that I care to remember. I won a previous game 2-1 but only because CPU missed a wide open net at end of game. The ball was crossed in from across the field to a wide open CPU player near the goal who was uncovered. Instead of going to get the ball out of the air like any goalie in the world would do, mine stood there and did nothing. Only in extra time though. The rest of the game, he's playing like any goalie would.

Why oh why does ea always have to do this? It is SO frustrating.

Yup this is why I haven't bought FIFA yet. In FIFA 14 the scripting was insane, there was one time when Barcelona scored 3 second half goals to come back when I was about to clinch the Liga BBVA at the Nou Camp. On those goals my defenders stopped moving correctly so Messi and Neymar were able to run in unmarked despite the fact that I was controlling the defenders and it should have been easy to tackle them.

To be honest I haven't felt that much scripting in this year's manager mode...the only time it's happened is a game I was winning 4-1 at half and the team I was playing scored three goals in the last fifteen minutes to draw. I can usually tell I'm about to get scored on, but it's only when I play legitimately terrible defense.

If you're talking about be a pro, I already stopped playing. I got my striker to an 89 after two seasons and was averaging more than two goals a game. I thought the computer AI was terrible because I think it's generous calling myself an above average Fifa player.

Re: Really want to love this game but 90th minute goals/scripting are killing me agai

The last 15 minutes depending on who im playing I park the bus and try not to panic when the cpu has it above my 18 yard line. Its funny how when in this situation that the cpu makes great runs but when I have the ball in the same scenario my AI teammates make terrible runs or get in the way. I wish ea would make our AI teammates play like the cpu because playing basically 1v11 is so unfair. Also the goalies are terrible at reacting. For instance, I played a game against swansea city tied 1-1 in the 72nd minute, bony makes a run gets it I send rojo over makes a great slide tackle to block the shot, the ball stops between bony and De gea and I slam the Y button to bring De Gea out and he literally just stays at his line and bony scores in the bottom left corner and I lose. I wonder why EA programs it this way because its definitely not fair to the human player

Yeah its been there for so long, but its trying to replicate real life. You will only understand it if you watch lots and lots of games. Try to check results for a whole week in several countries, and you´ll be amazed with how much goals are scored in the last mins.

What if you score one late goal against CPU? Think CPU will say "bah I´m tired of this... won´t play no more" ahahah. It happens in real life, and its only a way to feel the pressing in the end of the match when we´re ahead.

Funny though because I´m finding this game to be quite balanced. I´ve suffered goals close to the end, I´ve scored late winners as well, I´ve had matches where CPU just gave up after the 2-0... all sorts of outcomes, pretty cool.

In the other hand, I do confess I already switch off the game a couple times, when I am seeing reaaaaaaally stupid things, like impossibly stupid things in CPU behaviour.

There's no scripting in FIFA, you're just not good at the game.

If you're up 4-1 on a team, of course that team is going to go all-out attack to try and make a comeback. If you don't play good defence then yes, you will be scored on... multiple times.

I've had the CPU come back on me like that, but it's usually because I keep pressing and trying to score more when I have a big lead.

I agree so much with this post. The majority of the people who claim their scripting don't seem to have an actual grasp and understanding of the sport. There are more late goals in soccer, look up the analytics, it's fact plain and simple. Watch the games this weekend, it's very realistic for a soccer match to have 1 goal for the first 80 minutes then have late equalisers or insurance goals or even winners as teams adjust from a conservative approach to try and steal a late draw/win against bigger clubs. United drew on the 93rd minute this weekend. 2 weekends ago Liverpool and Swansea traded 4 goals in the final 5 minutes + stoppage time.

Goalies get rooted to the spot and make mistakes all the time, players miss open nets, especially headers even if they're unmarked. What do you want a game that plays the exact same for 90 minutes and players never make mistakes?

if you're up 4-1 and blow a lead, sorry you aren't good at killing off games. if you're up 4-1 bring on another midfielder and hold possession and only counter attack. Don't keep throwing men forward or you will get burned by a team that's throwing caution to the wind.

This will be closed, and rightfully so, if you aren't good at the game adjust your play style, it's not scripted, sorry.

Yea this game is really frustrating, but find a style and stick to it. Possesion and counter attack is my game. I feel as though If I press too hard I'll be ran by pacey players. Last minute goals seem to happen a lot more this year. I drew against Swansea just yesterday in the fa cup. Scored 2 goals to beat Atlético in the last few minutes and still lost on aggregate in the Uefa. It's frustrating and is something the game sees often. Matterfact Liverpool won their game yesterday on 2 goals the last 15 minutes yesterday one being in extra time. So it's just part of the game and it sucks when it's against your team lol.

I really haven't felt any scripting this year in my manager mode. I definitely feel it when my opponent ramps up their attack but this is where you have to adjust and play smart.

I personally think that too many people try to stick with what got them in the lead instead of realizing what the CPU is doing and adjusting accordingly.

I've been very pleased with my MM this year.

Thank you so much. It is awesome to hear from a FIfa expert like you. I now know I just suck. It's my fault the pass that I point directly one direction goes the exact opposite. It's my fault that my Ai guy runs the exact opposite direction of where the ball is late in the game. It's my fault CPU players dribble through my entire defense like Messi late in the game. Thank you so much for enlightening me.

                            Yes, there is.

                            Does it make predefined results?
                            No, it doesn´t.

Does it dificult some moments on specific matches?
                            Yes, a BIG yes.

Is it impossible to fight teams in those moments?
                            No, not at all.

I think what's really interesting with this FIFA, on next gen, is the realism towards actual football gameplay.

The way I've treated this game, this year, in career mode is by watching top teams every weekend play, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Southampton etc. And, it doesn't even have to be top teams. The way they play the game is all about possession and creating chances. In past FIFA titles it was so easy to sprint everywhere with the ball and score easy goals. This year it's a lot harder, which is good! How many games on average end up 6-1 or even 4-0. Not that many. Most games end 0-0, 2-1, 3-0 at the most.

I just think you have to adapt to how difficult the game is. Is a team is pressuring you at the 90th minute, what would you do? Park the bus, maybe even switch to a 5-3-2 formation if you wanted and then score on the counter attack. Or, try and hold up possession or just kick the ball as far down field as you can to use up the time.

Every time CPU has tried to pressure me with a flood of attacks, I park the bus, remain calm, defend and if they score, they score, if they don't, they don't. There's always another game, another season, another win.
                              Three Time Super Bowl Champions.
                              New England Patriots.
