Ya, I've yet to see an AI teammate go for a loose ball on WC or Legendary. Yet on Pro they fight for them all the damn time. It makes no sense. Also my teammates don't cut out passes that pass directly by them. Yet on Pro they stick a foot out and either intercept or deflect it. I really don't understand why the game doesn't play the same on all levels. Its like they only updated the AI scripting for pro.

I think I might have found some middle ground on WC. But who knows how long it will last. Legendary seemed good for a handful of games too. Then it wasn't.

I have been reading a lot of the problems people having on FIFA I and I just want to give my view.
First of all I play on legendary with default sliders except:
CPU:
Pass error. 60
shot error. 53
FT. 60
I play on normal speed and 10 min halves, the reason for normal speed is that thats the only way to get the nice reaktions and animations, the game is made for playing on normal speed.
Sliders are only there if you finding the game to hard or easy. You can change the gameplay with sliders but why do you wanna mess with the programming, and if you do how can you complain on the AI?!
EA have made a great game with a very good CPU who plays in different ways every match depending on their and your tactic.
Next thing is that I have seen many complains about that FIFA is scripted.
Of course its scripted!! Its a videogame and EA wants us to have matches that not look the same every time. I say thank you EA for that! If it wasnt you would find a weakness on cpu and then you could use that every time.
And when it comes to actually playing on legendary its all about your tactics and approach. When CPU have the ball, Pressure them with your strikers, when they are in attack, be aggressive but hold your positions, its take a lot of training and the thing is to not tackle until you in the perfect position to do so.The reason that you players dont react the same when a ball get right next to them is that it would be to easy to defend, now you have to be in control and cant rely on AI.
In attack you have to mix it up, and change tactic depending on who you up against. When you have a palyer with a lot of pace, make sure that you get 1on1 situations against a slow player, same goes with strenght. Play smart and mix up the tempo to get them confuse in CPU defense.
I have played almost one season with southampton this way and its been a fantastic one, I am not fully learned yet and are in 6th place at the moment.
The CPU plays with big variation. Chelsea are extremly hard to score on, and when you meet Sunderland you know that you can attack.
I have having three 0-0 games and some 4-0, all in all real life stats and goals.
So dont mess with sliders to much, use them to make the game easier or harder and you will get a great game!

I've gone back n forth over whether Legendary plays better than WC, but I'm definitely in the Legendary camp now.
Last night I was up till 5am playing the same match, over and over again. I mixed between WC and Legendary, all default sliders.
By the end of it, I scored more goals in the Legendary match than in the WC matches, by a decent margin. I also swear I saw more CPU errors and poor decisions. Overall, they were much, much better matches.
No idea how the patch might influence this, but WC is dead to me this year as it is.Comment

Interesting thread. I played a few games on world class and it just felt stupid. The CPU was just ping ponging the ball around. Ran one on legendary a lot and the CPU played a much more interesting game. I'll give it a few more runs to see it it continues, but so far so good.

Any news on a patch and some difficulty adjustments?
-> Professional is way too easy
-> on World-Class the AI plays Barca Tiki-Taka even though they're just a 1* team
-> legendary is probably what legendary should be like, a very hard and unfair mode.
For me this imbalance destroys the game. Sometimes I have really good games against top-teams on world-class but then somehow a 2nd league team crushes me because AI goes into cheat mode, has 97% passing percentage etc.

- Play the game on default WC, 15 min halves and be patient. Keep your position, do not chase the ball.
- Pass accuracy stats are broken. Do not even look at them.
- Almost every team on real life BPL and many on Championship also is capable to maintain possession of the ball.Comment

- 15min halves is too long for me. Dont have enough time for that if I wanna play career mode. 8-9min should be enough to see some action and still feel more like a sim and not to arcady.

- well they may be able to pass around in the back, have no problem with that except that with tactical defending its nearly impossible to put real pressure on the AI.
What I dont like is when AI goes into cheat mode and teams like Malmö, Gent etc. with 3* start playing barca-style in my half (against the best defenders in the world) and you can do absolutely nothing against it because the pressure system on tactical is totally broken and passes are too accurate.
Say what you want but difficulty-balance is totally broken in this.Comment

What do you think pressing is? Being able to run and chase the ball so fast that the oponent can´t think? Well, it´s kind off, but if you don´t change your players tactics, you´ll never be able to do it.
Want to press high? Go to formation screen and position your players way higher in the picth, without puting them out of their roles. On instructions, set your attacking players to "stay forward". On team tactics, set your pressure slider up to +75. You can choose a high agression too, but not exactly necessary. That´s it.
This is how you press high in Fifa. You don´t actually run all over the place. This way, your players won´t comeback when they loose the ball. Instead, they stay up in the pitch, and you can protect passing lanes right in their own deep half. Keep in mind though, they will try long balls, and if your defense is slow, the outcome is obvious.Comment

All of you guys are right really. The game is definitely poorly programmed in some key areas. The AI is way too good at keeping possession and playing out of the back than it should be. Tactical defending sucks. The difficulties are screwy.
Example, in my Fenerbahce CM I'm cruising through my league on WC, all default. I'm averaging more than 3 goals per game and conceding about 1. Then I go up against Aberdeen in the Europa League equivalent and get crushed 3-0. A team rated 1.5 stars less than me absolutely crushed me. It was just silly. Their ability to keep possession was a mockery.
On the other hand, there are ways to play the game that mitigate some of the worst of its programming. Tactics are a huge deal if you want to press high. You have to be patient as hell this year if you want to beat the CPU on WC and Legendary. Playing at default settings is totally doable but takes practice and you gotta be on point pretty much 100% of the time or else the CPU will take advantage of you. You can force the CPU into making glaring mistakes if you learn how the game wants to be played.
All that said, I'd be overjoyed if they patch the single player gameplay to adjust some of the most bothersome aspects.Comment
