Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
Nope, it's not possible. I started a career with 2nd league side Karlsruher SC in Germany and the RB in the starting formation was a CDM so I just left him there. Technically you can put anybody anywhere and train the attributes that are relevant for this position. The only thing that doesn't change then is the official position. But I agree. Would be more fun if you could switch the official position, too.Comment

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
I have a career going with NYCFC in MLS. In my last game against the Montreal Impact, we managed to secure a 2-0 lead at the half on some pretty sweet goals. At the 72nd minute, our defense fell apart and they knocked in an easy goal to close the gap to one. For the rest of the 90 minutes they hit us with a brutal attack. They went all out. When I saw there was 5 minutes of extra time, I was like, "OH NO!" Lol. Thankfully we were able to survive and get out of there with a win.
That was huge for us because it moved us to 2-3-4. We're in 9th place, but not terribly far off from the front of the pack. Hopefully I can string together some wins and keep this thing moving. Currently playing with OS Set #3/World Class. After losing a couple where the CPU was able to score late on us, it felt good to keep it together this time. These games are so intense!
When the transfer market opens, I plan on picking up my guy Lee Dong Gook from the K League. I'm also eyeing a couple of more.
Sounds good. I started my player career in the MLS because I found it quite exciting to make myself a name in the US and then get transferred to the US. You said you are in 9th place now. Doesn't really matter as long as you finish at least 8th, right? Since there is the playoff system...Last edited by cholle89; 10-17-2016, 06:28 AM.Comment

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
You're probably right. Not really familiar with MLS playoffs, so I was thinking of it like Barclay's. If it's 8th place it will definitely give me a better shot lol. I hate that there aren't really any changes to the mode this year, but running in MLS has been good times.

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
I'm trying to edit all 20 Premier League teams so that they start the correct players. It's virtually impossible and this is causing a big part of the issue. It makes zero sense that we can't make anyone just a straight CM and it's the second year in a row it's happened. They won't answer you on twitter, the phone number I tried isn't in service anymore, and when I reported the issue on their website, I got a generic response back, basically saying they didn't have an answer. So, the most infuriating part of this or ANYthing about this game is that they DO NOT COMMUNICATE. The FIFA "team" is by far the worst group of developers when it comes to this. Last straw for me. Unless there is a complete overhaul for '18, I've purchased my last FIFA game.
If you want to edit them then do it. For me that would be too time consuming but indeed it is a nice ideaComment

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
Finally had a chance to put some real time in over the weekend. Started a career with FC Koln in the Bundesliga as Italian gaffer Vincenzo Di Stefano. Playing 15min on World Class with manual controls and personal sliders (which I'm sure will change as I go). I follow the community sliders closely, but I can't get on board with the high height style, so I'm left to find something that works for me.
Played the preseason tourney in Holland, losing 2-0 to the hosts, Ajax, in the semis after a win, draw, and loss in the group. I rotated my small squad as much as I could, and tried a few different formations -- 3-5-2, 3-4-2-1, and 4-4-2. Pocketed about 4M for my efforts, so I bought a top-notch youth scout and set up shop in Germany.
I opened the Bundesliga season with a win over Darmstadt thanks to a late winner, lost to a better Wolfsburg side, drew with Freiburg, and lost to Schalke, again a better side and it showed. CM Milos Jojic went down for 3 months with a broken ankle, forcing me to shift Jonas Hector inside, only for Hector to go off against Freiburg and miss the Schalke match. I'm still feeling my way with the squad, but I'm starting to settle into an approach of getting behind the ball and looking for longer passes to launch attacks, particularly against stronger teams. My offense isn't quite clicking yet, but I played two upper-table teams fairly evenly, just lacked some quality to produce results.
I started some GTN scouting looking for creative promising center mids, pacey dribbling wingers, and strong box-to-box defensive mids. I don't have much squad depth at all and finances will be tight, so I might look for some bargains or a bosman or two in January. And I put Lukas Podolski on my shortlist with an eye to a potential reunion with his beloved hometown club. Not sure I'm in a position to bring him in just yet, but figure I'll keep an eye on him just in case.
I'd love to bring in youth players, but I think that will take a season or two to pay dividends. I did use the level 4 catalog future star (sue me :P); got a German LM (Zimmerman IIRC) who could develop into a replacement for Hector if I sell him on. Signed a youth keeper as well from scouting; my GK Timo Horn is already an 83 at age 23, so I'm not sure I'll be able to hold onto him. He's valued at nearly €30M already and still growing.
Overall, I feel like I found a nice little project for me to build in Koln. This is the earliest I started a CM in a several years, so I can see sticking with it for a few seasons. After that, maybe a change of clubs and/or leagues could keep me going... we shall see.
PS - I streamed all my Bundesliga games on Twitch as King_Oskar. Unfortunately, I didn't have auto-archive turned on. I fixed that, so if you're bored at work, eventually there will be some matches up.Last edited by Qb; 10-24-2016, 12:43 PM.Comment

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
Team: Arsenal
League: BPL (Finished 3rd last year)
Season Record: 5W-0D-1L 11F 2A +9GD
All Time Record: 38W-15D-13L F99 A51 +48GD
Trophies Won: FA Cup
Settings: 10 Min Half, World Class, Matt's OS community Sliders, Normal Speed, Manual controls, custom tactics for all opposing teams
2016/17 Recap
I started at Aston Villa. Managed them for 22 matches, knocked out Man City in the Capital One Cup and had a 10w-8d-4L record. Wenger got sacked, Arsenal was 7th and I got the job.
I signed Varane in the winter from Real Madrid. I signed Renato Sanches as well on loan for 2 years with option to buy.
We finished 3rd in the league. We won the FA Cup. We got knocked out in the last 16 by borussia mönchengladbach. Getting knocked out was my fault, first time being there and we played to much of an attacking style. Learning from that really helped me in the FA Cup and I expect to do much better in the UCL Knockouts next year.
Giroud had 21 goals in the league, 25 overall. Cech won player of the Competition. Diego Costa won the Golden Boot with 25 league goals. Cristiano Ronaldo won player of the tournament in the UCL, Bayern beat Real Madrid in the final.
I would give Coquelin Arsenal player of the year. He was irreplaceable.
finished the season with Arsenal with a record of 23w-7d-8L 64F 33A
pre-season
Wenger is out, Arsenal will now spend money and act like one of the worlds biggest football clubs.

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
Was going well until I lost interest and decided to say "**** it". Took over Southampton as I usually have the rule of only taking over teams that had a manager change in the offseason. Was able to wheel and deal a lot of players and turn the 56 Mio starting capital into well over 100, invested in a lot of youth, this was my team:
GK Donnarumma 81 rated (for 7 Mio)
CB Kurt Zouma 82 rated (bought him for 5 Mio plus Sedar Tasci as Chelsea had bought Varane and Martinez pushing him to fourth CB)
CB José Maria Gimenez 85 rated (bought him for 15 Mio, why they sold him like that I have no idea)
LB Grimaldo 80 rated (9 Mio)
RB Joao Cancelo 82 rated (in exchange for Cedric)
CDM Leon Goretzka 83 rated (11 Mio)
CDM Renato Sanches 82 rated (got him on a loan from Bayern with the option to buy for around 15 Mio after they had bought Verrati)
RW Leroy Sané (for around 15 Mio)
LW Gabriel (17 Mio)
ST Marcus Rashford (for 7 Mio)
ST Sanabria (for 5 Mio plus Shane Long)
as you can see I brought in some players in the Winter. My second unit, if you want to call it that, was this:
GK Alban Lafont (4 Mio) 77 rated
CB Timothy Fosu-Mensah (got him on loan from ManU with an option to buy for 4 Mio) 76 rated
CB Reece Oxford (1 Mio) 71 rated
LB Federico Matiello (on loan with an option to buy for 3 Mio) 77 rated
RB Lucas Klostermann (on loan with an option to buy for 3 Mio) 76 rated
CDM Lewis Cook (bought him for 3 mio) rated 74
CDM Corentin Tolisso (11 Mio) 82 rated
LW Charlie Musonda (got him in my second season for around 17 Mio) 81 rated
RW Gelson Martins (17 Mio) 82 rated
ST Iheanacho (got him on loan with an option to buy for 8 Mio) 80 rated
ST Breel Donald Embolo (got him on loan with an option to buy for 12 mio)
Obviously loads of them have improved quite substantially. I finished first in my first season, won the FA cup against Arsenal (who seem to have sort of a bookmark for it in this CM) and the Euroleague. Liverpool struggled massively for much of the season and spend the first 20 games on a relegation spot. They managed to go up to 15 by the end of the season. ManU hovered around 10th. Chelsea played well under Conte and came in second (around 10 points behind my team). Arsenal clinched 3rd in the last game of the season. Tottenham came fourth. Man City managed to push Leicester away from 5th in the last game of the season. I sold some players (Koziello for around 50 mio and Bouffial for around 55 Mio) and got myself Dembéle for Martins otherwise the starting 11 basically stayed the same. Won the Premier League 25 points ahead of the second which was Arsenal. Chelsea came in 3rd, Man City 4th, Tottenham 5th and ManU 6th. I beat Barcelona twice in the CL group games, went on to draw Bayern in Munich and beat them in St Mary's in the Round of 16. Had to take on Atletico next who I hammered 3:0 in Southampton and 3:0 in Madrid. Took on ManU in the Semifinal. I managed to hold on. I beat them 4:2 in Manchester and just held on to the win by losing 3:2 at home to them. I then played Paris in the final and it was a cakewalk... I simply took them apart 5:0. Rashford scored 3 incredible goals and Sanabria another 2.
I do have several good young players I scouted in my youth team. I have a CB I signed aged 15 who I trained up to a 78 from a 60 before he wanted to be promoted. High defensive workrate, defending all on 80 and above, I trained his dribbling and agility to an 80 as well, his speed is around a 75 and atm I'm working on rounding him out with passing and heading (unfortunately his heading accuracy is only 58 even though he is 6'3). I have a winger who is 17 atm and still in my youth team rated 81 atm. Dribbling skills of 90 and above (which I trained), stamina of 80 and hopefully his work rates will be great. I have another one of those who is 16 and 72 rated plus a leftback which shows promise and another centerback. So all in all I'm happy since I might be able to sell off Zouma and Gimenez the next time the offer comes and is around 60 mio.
The reason I'm getting annoyed is precisely that though. I would like to sell players of and enjoy the fruits of training them up. I turned a profit of nearly 400 mio and won the CL however, the next season I start at a budget of 60 Mio for transfers and only get invited to the most ****ty of pre-season tournaments valued at a mere 8 mio. For crying out loud I won the last two championships, FA cups and won the Euroleague and the CL yet I have a transfer budget of 60 mio even though the club turned a profit of 400 mio???? No thx... not having it. Besides I'm pretty bored with ManU having bought all the fancy strikers and even though none of them play more then a handful of games yet they don't get worse and they don't force transfers. They got Dybala, Kane, Lukaku, Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Martial, Lewandowski and some other dude. That's obscene. So why should I sell them back Rashford for 60 Mio when I can't even enjoy the money? I can't bring in big names for fun because the big clubs have completely snatched them up. Bayern has Coutinho, Mata, Rodriguez and Coutinho, ManU has all the strikers, Chelsea has Martinez, Varane, Umtiti, Bailley, Laporte and who knows who else. ManU has all the CM's on top of that. ManCity seems to have all the wingers. I mean what the hell is the point?
I can't use a small club because that would mean that I only get the commentators saying the away team or home team 99% of the time plus I would have to adjust my own transfer budget via Cheat Engine and have no PL badge and no stadium that is really mine oh and no proper fan chants. I can't take a small club in the PL because if I make it to the point where I am able to spend obscene amounts of money all the goods will be gone. So I decided to go with Arsenal. Sell off all they hold dear (Özil, Sanchez, Ramsey, Walcott, Koscielny etc.) and just do what ManU does and splash. Buy Kane and Dybala in the first season, get Martial, Sterling and anybody with talents I can get my hands on and then just rape and pillage my way through CM. Or maybe I'll use Liverpool... not sure yet. Probably more likely Kane would come to Liverpool me thinks but I probably won't get Sterling back which would suck.Comment

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
Working on a West Ham career mode that is going very well in my 3rd year. Sold Lanzini in the offseason for 60 mil to Barca. They offered me more than my house rules would let me say no too.
One of my other house rules is that I only bring in players after they have fallen out of favor with their current team (played less than 10 league games) or am forced to way over pay. I brought in Oscar after the first season then this offseason I bought Bale for 70 million. Of course as soon as I bought him his overall started to drop.
I won the EFL cup in 2016 but haven't won anything since. I am currently 2 points behind Man U in the Premier League with 10 games left in my 3rd season
The only thing that bothers me is that Man U is collecting strikers. They currently have Zlatan, Griezmann, Benzema, Aubameyang, Dybala, Kane, Rashford.
Zlatan, Benzema, Dybala, Kane and Rashford haven't played a single game for them.Comment

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
I started at Watford as my hornets side played with courage we finished 5th falling out of 4th on the last day as United lost to palace at old trafford. We have won the efl league cup were in the fa cup semifinals and are top of the league with 11 games left we could just lift that title but anyways here's my side
Gk Sommer 85 (30 million)
Rb Hydaj 82 ( 24 million )
CB De Vrij 85 (already here when I joined)
CB Van djik 81 (bought to Watford was so solid I brought him with me 12 million
