How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Aston Villa Career Mode Update
SpoilerOctober Results
Aston Villa 1-0 FK Austria (Europa League)
West Ham 0-2 Aston Villa
Norway 2-1 Wales (European Qualifiers)
England 1-1 Norway
Aston Villa 1-0 Swansea
Aston Villa 1-0 Inter Milan (Europa League)
Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa
Aston Villa 5-3 Arsenal (Capital One Cup Round of 16)
An excellent, undefeated month.
We're now causing a huge shock by leading the pack by a point, about one third of the way through the season.
No worries of second season syndrome. Let's keep it up.
November Results
Aston Villa 2-0 Norwich
F.K Austria 0-3 Aston Villa
Stoke 0-3 Aston Villa
Aston Villa 4-1 Sunderland
Norway 1-3 Germany (International Friendly)
Peru 0-2 Norway (International Friendly)
Aston Villa 1-1 Chelsea
Arsenal 4-0 Aston Villa
A good month that saw us keep first place in the table. An excellent showing against Chelsea where we were unlucky not to win. I really don't know what happened against Arsenal, I'm hoping it's just a lacpe, not the start of a bad run. We'll find out in December.
December Results
Aston Villa 1-1 Norwich (Capital One Cup) (Villa go through 5-3 on penalties)
Aston Villa 2-0 Malmo (Europa League)
Aston Villa 3-0 Crystal Palace
Southampton 2-2 Aston Villa
Inter Milan 1-1 Aston Villa
West Brom 1-1 Aston Villa
Aston Villa 2-0 Hull City
We carried some of the bad form from the Arsenal game into the new month.
Surprisingly we didn't drop down the table too much, we sit 2nd at the half way stage. The table is shown below: (after 19 games)
1st: Chelsea 44 (points)
2nd: ASTON VILLA 43 (13-4-2)
3rd: Man City 42
4th: Liverpool 41
5th: Tottenham 39
Wow, I never would have thought we would be in this position at the start of the season. We can't afford to go on another run like December if we are to lift the title. At the start of the season the board's objective for me was to qualify for the Champions League, or Champions Cup as it is known in the game. We are certainly in line for that. As always Sturridge has been on fire as has the rest of the team. On a different note Carrdif, Norwich and Crystal Palace occupy the relegation zone.
Thanks for reading, any feedback appreciated.
You've done a great job with Aston Villa just 1 point away from the title. What formation are you using?Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
I'll be crushed if I cant beat PAOK. It's at their stadium, but we should still be better than them. A loss will be truly depressing. I took care of business and won all 3 of my home matches after dropping the first two. So close! This next update will be a big month with possible advancement in both the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Two CF and Sturridge just above them as a ST.
I usually have Weimean and Kozak as the CF.
In midfield there's 3 CMs, which usually consists of Westwood/El Ahmadi, Delph and N'Zogbia. I'm thinking of tweaking it a little bit to suit N'Zogbia's needs, seeing how he is now 77 rated.
Ronaldinho got ruled out for 5 months in the first few games of the season, it's a shame because he played brilliantly in pre-season. I've tested out other formations, including one with wingers but they didn't work as well as 4-3-2-1.
The formation has bought a lot of sucsess, but is unfortunately the reason Albrighton left due to lack of playtime.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
So hi! New to the forum and my first post will to present my current Southampton FC squad and what I've accomplished so far. Im currently in February 2015 having just finished the the winter transfer window.
First the squad. Positions listed as how I use them, not their actual position.
1. ter Stegen GK 82 (I bought Ali Ahamada 75 my first season to be my future #1 but ter Stegen had 6 months left so i offered £ 4.5m and Ahamada)
2. Abate RB 79 (end of contract 2014)
3. Shaw LB 76
4. Wanyama CDM 79
5. Lovren CB 82
6. Dier CB 78 (was 3rd in scoring last season, such a monster)
7. Lallana CAM 82
8. Rode CDM 79 (end of contract 2014, really offensive minded CDM, amongst the leaders on the team in assists.)
9. Rodriguez CAM/ST 76
10. Wickham ST 79
11. Gaston Ramirez CAM 83
12. Gazzaniga GK 69
13. Fer CDM/CAM 77 (next Yaya Toure, beast)
14. Morata ST 78 (bought for £ 7m. Teams are offering me 14 now after half a season)
15. Rabiot CDM 74
16. Ward Prowse CDM/CAM 75
17. Chalobah CB 75
18. Lescalles CB 73
19. Benzia ST 70
20. Wellington Silva CAM 73
21. Kelvin CAM 75 (The two brasilian wingers turned CAM. usually sub in both around 60 minutes and they create havoc!)
22. Chambers RB/CDM 73
23. Menez CAM 79 (Free summer 14)
24. Yoshida CB 71
25. Andrade ST 67
26. Reed CDM 69
27. Mayuka CAM 72 (Like the guys from Brasil he often gets subbed in and creates havoc. Cup hero this season)
28. Clyne RB/LB 77 (really too good for the bench)
29. Choupa-Moting LB/CDM/CAM/ST 76 (what we in Norway call a potato: works with everything. Or in the football way, works all over the pitch.
31. Targett LB 67
My first season I finished in 4th place in the BPL and managed to beat City in the FA cup final. Don't remember who i beat in the League Cup.
Now in the 2014/15 season im currently in 2nd place 1 point behind Arsenal and im still in all cups. I advanced in the Champions Cup in a group with PSG, Basel and Sevilla.
I play a very narrow 4-2-3-1 formation where theres 2 CDM's and 3 CAMS. The fullbacks are more like wingbacks and are involved in about 40% of my goals. My starting 11 is currently:
..................................ter Stegen.........................................
.....Abate..............Lovren.............Dier... ...........Shaw...............
.........................Wanyama...........Rode... ...............................
..................Lallana...........Ramirez.....Me nez.............................
....................................Wickham....... ...................................
As you can see I have a very broad squad, and probably too many midfielders. But I feel i need so many for the team to be fit for every game.
What you guys think? Would love some feedback and suggestions for what positions to improve this summer.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Thanks, I've stuck with Villa's default system. Which is 4-3-2-1.
Two CF and Sturridge just above them as a ST.

Ah yes I've seen their default formation. I've used it a few times with other teams except I've changed the CM to CDM. I like it but I was never really able to enjoy it, you know? Bad news from ronaldinho! That kind of injury at his age, and seeing as his stats were already decreased when he joined, then that's pretty much the end of his career. His stats will just continue to decrease during these 5 months and even when he's 100% he'll be unplayable. Man that's why I hate long term injuries on older players in the game. In real life they could still come back strong, but in the game it's for sure that he's done.
Yep not much room for offensive wingers in that formation just for attacking fullbacks.Comment

I would use a CDM but Westwood seems to drop back naturally and El Ahmadi never does too do well there.
I found a hidden jewel in Okore. 23 years of age and he has already grown to 78.
He is usually now starting ahead of Vidic mainly because of pace. The kid's got a bright future. Too bad he's Danish not Norwegian.Comment

Press Conference
Q: Great results in the Champions League this month. You have moved into the top 2 with one match left to play. Do you feel like you can take the 3 points in this match and advance into the round of 16?
A: Our destiny is in our own hands at this point. We still have to go on the road and beat a good team in PAOK. Every game in this league is tough, and we are going to go into this game 100% mentally prepared and ready for anything.
Q: You are sitting in a Europa league spot right now after fighting the past few months to get into the top 6. Where do you see Deportivo being at the end of this season?
A: Europa League is great, but our sights are higher. Anything short of a return to the Champions League will be a disappointment. We were up to 3 before the last match against Barcelona, and we are only 2 points out of 2nd as the table stands. I think you will still see us rising through this table as the season goes on.
Q: Through the first leg of the Copa Del Rey match up against Villarreal you won 3-2 at home. What are your thoughts going into the second leg?
A: Getting the win was great, but it definitely hurt to give up 2 away goals to Villarreal. We need focus on going into their stadium now and coming away with either a win or a draw. I am still optimistic that we will be advancing in this match up, but Villarreal are a great team and can certainly take down anyone if they come to play.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Great work getting those UCL results that you needed! The league is starting to shape up for you as well. I'm most impressed with the 1-0 win against Arsenal... how did you style your play against them? They always seem to tiki taka their way to a goal or two every time that I face them, I'm impressed that you were able to shut the door on them.Last edited by texasbum06; 07-14-2014, 05:26 PM.Comment

Well done qualifying for the Champions League in your first season.
There's not much for you to do in the transfer window.
You've got a great team and depth. Maybe go bargain hunting or expand your youth academy. Good luck and enjoy your adventure in making Southampton the best in the world.Last edited by cathal; 07-14-2014, 05:41 PM.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
I decided to play with Lazio. I accidentally saved over my Atletico Madrid career anyway. My first game against Juventus was in the SuperCup. I won 2-0 and won the SuperCup. Klose scored a header early in the game to take the lead.Comment
