I like the idea! Have to ask though, why not just do it with Arsenal? :P

Nice! Another good looking Real Madrid career. The 3-5-2 formation is certainly different for them though. What kind of 3-5-2 formation are you using?

        2. FC Barcelona - 64pts
        3. Valencia CF - 62pts

        6. Athletic Bilbao - 46pts

        7. Malaga CF - 45pts (30 GP)
        8. Real Sociedad - 45pts
        9. RCD Espanyol - 40pts
        10. Villareal CF - 38pts
        11. Real Betis - 38pts (30 GP)
        12. Getafe CF - 37pts
        13. Real Zaragoza - 35pts

        17. RCD Mallorca - 26pts (30 GP)
        18. Elche CF - 23pts
        19. Rayo Vallecano - 19pts
        20. Sporting Gijon - 19pts

I said in my last update that I needed to get 6 points in the first 2 league games and I did just that by beating up on Gijon (I forget which one of you is a fan of theirs but I'm sorry, beating up on SOMEONE felt good) then doing something I haven't been able to do much of this season which is turn a game around. THAT felt good too. I went into the Barca game not overconfident but sure of what my guys could do but unfortunately Messi is just ridiculous. He got the ball in the box with Gonzalez in front of him, stepped the ball over a couple of times and got open for a bullet that Navas had no shot against. Later he shook off a couple of defenders and actually got Navas to make a pretty sweet save but Alexis drilled the rebound from the air into the back of the net. The friendlies were cool, Hungary was tougher than I expected while Mexico was easier than I expected.

Overall a pretty good month in La Liga. I'm actually one more point behind my goal than I was a month ago so any hopes of getting into European competition are probably over but we are putting ourselves in good position for a top-10 finish now only 4 points away (as opposed to 8 points a month ago). This season is starting to remind me of my first half season with the team when the club was near the bottom of the table in Liga Adelante and we were able to finish strong in 9th place. We will definitely have a pretty good idea of where we'll finish after April since 6 of our remaining 9 games will take place then. Road games at Valencia, Malaga, and Zaragoza; home games vs Sociedad, Sevilla, and Real Madrid.

Of course the next update will also be exciting because of the academy. The second reports from scouts in Netherlands and Cameroon resulted in some additions to the academy. Here's the Youth Squad:

        - Badile Salawu (LW, 67-71 OVR, 89-94 POT): Our top prospect is this 16 Y/O kid from Nigeria. We're hopeful he won't request a call up this season but he will see significant minutes right away whenever he gets the call.
        - In Sung Jo (RB/RWB, 59-63, 81-87: The fastest prospect in our academy (88 acc, 87 speed) is this 16 Y/O from South Korea. He'd be a backup on our roster right now but if he waits in the academy until the end of the season he could end up being the starter at RB next season.
        - Maximilian Knoll (CAM, 60-64, 83-89): 17 Y/O kid from Germany who we hope will remain in the academy for the rest of the season. Could be Paredes' sub next season.
        - Andre Meirelles (CM, 48-50, 87-93): A recent signing from Brazil earlier this season, this 16 Y/O kid should be ready to contribute in a couple of seasons.
        - Juan Morientes (CM, 53-37, 87-93): Similar to Meirelles, this 16 Y/O kid from Spain was found earlier this season and needs to work hard in the academy for a while before he'll be ready to get the call.
        - Florian Nickenig (CB, 53-57, 75-81): 16 Y/O from Germany who has spent nearly a year in our academy. We would like to see how he progresses by the end of the season.
        - Patricio Estrada (RM, 56-60, 74-80): The oldest member of our academy is this 18 Y/O from Peru. We're in no rush to call him up but we're expecting him to demand a call up any time now.
        - Hiroya Imada (CF, 56-60, 74-80: 18 Y/O from Japan has spent a couple of seasons in our academy and has requested to be called up to the senior squad. We're currently negotiating a contract.
        - Hiroya Tamazaki (RM/RW, 58-62, 73-79): 17 Y/O from Japan who like Imada has spent his time at the academy.
        - Adam Lee (CDM, 54-58, 73-79): 17 Y/O from England with nice height (6'2") but will probably go on loan once he's called up.
        - Markus Goretzka (CB, 53-57, 73-79): 16 Y/O from Germany who needs to spend at least another season in the academy.
        - Lansana Afrani (DEF/MID, 48-62, 78-94)*: 15 Y/O from Cameroon is one of our new additions and someone we're really excited about to monitor his progress in the academy.
        - Kyle Buwalda (ATT, 45-57 69-89)*: 15 Y/O from the Netherlands could be a winger, strikers, or centre forward.
        - Jens Stevens (LM, 41-51, 68-86)*: Another 15 Y/O from Netherlands that has been recently added to the squad.
        * Denotes recent addition to the Y.A.

So I'm really excited about this upcoming month. I would like to get at least 10 of the 18 points I will be playing for and I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing how the academy progresses, especially considering I'll get a final report from the scouts in Cameroon and Netherlands a few days before the end of April.

I think it's good to see a top team career mode. Obviously, if you start with such a good team, you could get bored very soon.

For me the ideal career is starting with a 2nd division team (League 1 or 2 in England is too far in my opinion), or with a 3.5 or 4 star team maximum in one of the 1st divisions. Then, you can arrive at a top team, but because of your performance in your first team, it's what's more like in real life.

I'd add the same I do for me, that's make restrictions that the game don't have, to make it more realistic. In my case I can't have too good squads, I don't use the way of precontracting players, that I see too much and there're mid-table teams with an incredible squad in 2 seasons, which make managers getting bored. I only use it once per season and with low value players. This not only makes the game really challenging, it also makes it real, I've seen Lewandoski, Gundogan, Fabregas, Thiago Silva or Jordi Alba in a few seasons in Everton, for example, not real at all.

And of course, try to play fully manual if you don't do it, it's a totally different game and you feel that it's only you who play, no game help, so you enjoy it most. I play World Class with sliders, I tried Legendary but I see the CPU doing things like if they're supermen, World Class is the perfect level in which you see a real game.

If you do all of this and still win easily, well...you're the new Guardiola, congrats!! hehe

Thanks for that, And yes, i dont feel like Real Madrid should be my only career mode, since playing with gods is fun and all, but i need a bit of that..... manager excitement? if u call it that, with real Madrid i only feel good when i win a big match. Im probably gonna Pick a Team in Mid-budget if u will, so they are not richest (Like arsenal, Real Madrid etc.) But they have a descent budget with Descent players (Everton, Lyon etc.) I dont know wich team im gonna pick tho, Suggestions are always welcome!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

So while working on a Real Madrid CM Update, I have come up with some choices for my other CM, Toughts?:

-Newcastle : Has OK Budget + Players, But needs alot of work to become to my liking, Wich could be fun.
-Liverpool : I dont know about this one tho, since alot of people already do Liverpool and ofcourse i can sell Suarez and Sturridge for around 100M all together wich makes it a big spender team aswell.
-Lazio : Good Team with OK Budget, doesnt need to much work.
-Inter : Has enough Budget and Has players that can sell for alot of money, but i would need ALOT of change in the players because they are getting old and not to my liking, This could be a very interesting challenge, bringing them back to their old glory.
-Lyon : OK Team with Good budget, It would be fun to challenge for the title but, I HATE the Ligue 1, I dont know if its that i dont know the players/teams that play in it or something else but i just do.

I will see what everyone wants to add to the list and narrow it down to a few choices later today!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

IMO Everton is a good option in England, and I'd consider Aston Villa (not sure if there's a Villa's career now) or Sunderland/Swansea/Southampton.

In Spain good teams for that are Real Sociedad, Valencia, Sevilla or Villarreal for example.

Italy, where you have Inter, which is now a mid-team and needs a lot of changes in its squad. You could try to return them into a top team. Also there's Cagliari, Fiorentina, Parma...

                    Hamburg, Bayer Leverkusen in Germany...

Take a look at them, that my opinion

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I would suggest Hull City or Swansea from England and Hellas Verona from Italy. Verona would be a real challenge with their really terrible budget but they have lots of young talent. Swansea has a good squad and an average budget and they are an interesting team. Hull hasn't got that good of a team and they don't have almost any squad depth.

Speaking of Real Madrid, I'm taking them and Hertha BSC as my teams for Fifa 15. I'll first do a fun career with RM to get used to the game and because they're the best and when I get bored (probably after a season or two) I'll do a career with Hertha. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as the one I did before.

And because there are all the new things put in the PL, my first Premier League career will be with Everton, Arsenal or QPR.
