Press Conference
Q: West Ham didn't seem like it was prepared for the kind of match you gave them. In the end they walked away with the win, but it was much harder earned than expected. Do you think they overlooked you and assumed they would be advancing?
A: Every year you see some upsets in these cup matches. There is always a Premier League team that isn't quite prepared for a lower league team to come and have one of their better games of the season. I think we did a great job of fighting hard and forcing the game to go 120 minutes. Unfortunately we weren't able to finish the job. It seems like their manager, Moose141, was able to rally them together and let his players know they needed to wake up. Once we went into extra time their Premier League quality was evident.
Q: The results were a bit more favorable this month as you saw yourself climb a few spots in the table. Do you think there is still room to grow for this squad?
A: Absolutely. I think we have a lot more to accomplish as a team. I think that bottom half of the table is a position that we would be disappointed to finish in. Of course, promotion is the ultimate goal, but we still have some work to do as a squad to get into one of those spots.
Q: You're switch to a new 4-1-4-1 formation has seemed to be the cause of the better results. Is this a formation that will be featured the rest of the season?
A: This is a formation that is likely to be our main one going forward. The defensive midfielder has been instrumental is helping to hold up that back line, while the outside midfielders combined with the link up play of the central midfielders have done a great job of providing service to the lone striker up top. It helps that Sampson has been a great front man at not only getting chances for himself, but setting up his teammates as well for goals. We will have other formations for situational moments, but the 4-1-4-1 will the the key one going forward.

So I've been tinkering with some formatting things, trying to figure out if I want to keep the match banners like I have them, or if I wanted to sort of style them up...so I'm going to ask you guys. Do you prefer the original style (the orange brushed metal banner with Brisbane Roar FC vs/@ other team) or would you like to see this:
I sorta like the new one because it more closely resembles a sports ticker like you'd see on broadcasts...also I can put two matches on the same line so my updates wouldn't be quite so long, vertically speaking. But I leave it up to you guys: Which do you prefer? Is the new one easy to read?

How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
AFC Wimbledon
Mid-April 2016 Update
Wigan Athletic 1 - 2 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Hanson 39' 57'
WIG: McManaman 53'
The first match of 10 for AFC Wimbledon and luck was just barely on their side. As expected, Wigan played a great match and didn't give away the 3 points easily. Seems like James Hanson has finally woken up after being transfer listed by Wimbledon this past January, and has been on a great scoring run after being one of the most disappointing players in this Wimbledon squad earlier in the season. The former youth academy player, Kyle Shelvey, has unfortunately suffered a sprained knee after fighting for a header, and is expected to be out of action for 4 weeks.
AFC Wimbledon 3 - 0 Huddersfield
WIM: James 11' Hanson 33' Sainte-Luce 66'
Huddersfield goalkeeper Alex Smithies had perhaps the worst match of his career as he was only able to grab 1 save in this whole match. Internet memes are rapidly going through twitter, with the most popular ones saying something similar to: "If Sainte-Luce scores on you, you need a new keeper."
Europa League:
AFC Wimbledon 1 - 0 Dinamo Moskva
WIM: Gornell 17'
The Russians only needed an improved shot accuracy to defeat Wimbledon in the first leg, but the second time around they couldn't even get shots at all! The Moscow club were only able to get 2 shots on goal in the whole 90 minutes, which is more of an appraisal for the Wimbledon backline than criticism for the Russians who played a great match in a very difficult stadium.
Nottingham Forest 1 - 2 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: James 27' Midson 31'
NFO: Gilberto 80'
Midson showing that he still has something to offer this club even at age 32 after shooting a very powerful, low shot to the Nottingham goalkeeper's near post. Some will say it was Midson's trademark shot, while others will say the goalkeeper gave the goal away.
AFC Wimbledon 0 - 0 QPR
The most anticipated match of the week between two clubs that are fighting for the auto promotion spot. A very interesting duel between the goalkeepers as well who are the league's top two in clean sheets. Ross Worner (WIM) with 15 clean sheets and Julio Cesar (QPR) with 14. Both keepers gave an outstanding match and were able to stay alive not only for the Golden Glove, but also for the auto promotion position.
FA Cup Semifinals:
Newcastle United 2 - 2 AFC Wimbledon
NEW: Martinez 13' Tiote 87'
WIM: Gornell 33' 76'
An extremely tense match at Wembley where Newcastle's Jackson Martinez was able to shake off some pressure by scoring early. Terry Gornell was able to get his team back into the game and eventually in the lead until Newcastle equalized. The match went to extra times and eventually penalties. The penalty shootout was very tense as well as it went into sudden death, but in the first shot of sudden death Newcastle's Ferguson hit the post, and then former youth academy player Diego Ortiz scored his penalty to become the hero of today's match. Wimbledon remain undefeated in penalty shootouts.
FL Championship League Table
1. Fulham - 98 points
2. AFC Wimbledon - 85 points
3. QPR - 80 points
4. Wigan Athletic - 78 points
5. Reading - 74 points
6. Bolton - 72 points
--------------------
22. Barnsley - 30 points
23. Bristol City - 23 points
24. Peterborough - 15 points
Youth Academy
Adam Cowie (GK) 40-56, 64-90
This 16 year old from Scotland has recently signed with Wimbledon and therefore we haven't been able to see much of him.
Jason Clark (GK) 41-51, 64-82
This 16 year old from Scotland signed at the same time as Cowie. We will be following both very closely.
John Southway (??) 36-44, 67-83
The 6'4" 16 year old from England has still not made up his mind if he prefers playing as a wide midfielder or in the backline. The youth staff has been trying to convince him to choose defense as his height will give him a huge advantage.
Luke Draper (CB) 37-45, 67-83
The English 17 year old hasn't shown much with Wimbledon's U-17 squad, but he is very strong for his age.
Matthew Saah (??) 37-47, 68-86
The youth staff have experimented with this 16 year old English player all across the pitch but have yet to find him a fixed position.
Nathan Mendez-Laing (CM) 52-56, 72-76
This 16 year old playmaker from England is about to complete his 2nd year in the Wimbledon youth academy, and may be promoted at the end of this season.
Scott Wilson (GK) 47-51, 71-77
The 17 year old Scotsman's future will be evaluated at the end of this season.
Shaun Vincent (CAM) 56-60, 86-92
The 16 year old playmaker from England has shown to be the most exciting player in Wimbledon's U-17 squad. He is about to complete his 2nd year in the youth academy and is very anxious to finally get a chance to shine at the senior level.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fulham have mathematically secured this year's FL Championship league title and will return to the premier league basking in glory. The newly promoted Peterborough has mathematically secured their return to League 1, having only won 2 matches out of 42 so far and carry a -57 goal difference. Everyone will be pointing at their board of directors, who made approximately 3 million USD from selling Nugent and Baldwin, two key defenders, only to bring in Callum Kennedy for 200 thousand USD. Where did the rest of the money go? Hmm...
AFC Wimbledon have eliminated Dinamo Moskva and progressed to the Europa League semifinals where they will face arguably the strongest side from Russia, Zenit St. Petersburg. Tottenham will face Athletic Bilbao in the other semifinal fixture.
Wimbledon have entered the FA Cup Final for the first time in their history after defeating Newcastle United. We are still awaiting the result of the other semifinal fixture between Manchester United and Tottenham.
Veteran Jack Midson has been offered a 1-year contract extension which includes a 100% salary increase, a 5% bonus per goal, but a lesser squad role. 26 year old goalkeeper Seb Brown has still not heard anything regarding an extension for his contract, but with the recent additions to the youth academy and Brown's minimal play time it appears his future will not be with this club.
Well that is all we have for you today. We hope you enjoyed it. As usual, this has been ChicoBass for HYFCMG. Thanks for reading.
I like both man. You have a point that these new ones looks more realistic, but your original layout is awesome and I actually never thought they were too lengthy. If you like these new ones a little more then give them a try with your next update and then decide which looks better. I'm sure you can make either layout look just as awesome as the other!Comment
Amazing results there in every competition! Especially in the Europa League. Who would have guessed that Wimbledon was going to fight for the Europa League title only three years (?) after appointing Chavez? Great work on becoming a strong team. How many games have you got left and how many stars does your team have?
It will be interesting to see how you'll do in the Premier League since usually the budget is really small in the first season. But don't worry, I believe in Chavez's skills to secure a midtable finish.
No contract extension for Seb Brown? No? Really? The hero of Wimbledon who got then to the Football League will have to leave? You monster!-Simppu12-
We have 2 league matches left and only 1 point is what's keeping us in auto promotion. QPR are right on our tail and don't stop winning! What's worse is that one of those two games is against Fulham, the league leaders. We also have the 2nd leg against Zenit and the FA Cup final against Spurs. Spurs are in the Europa semifinals, they're defending Europa champions, they lost to Chelsea in the Capital One final, and are the FA Final with me. Those guys have been killing it!
We're currently only a 3 star team. I rely heavily on tactics because of that. Can't wait for the premier. I might change the formation so that I don't get bored since I've used the same one this whole season.
I know! It's really hard not to extend his contract not only for that but also he joined the club at a really young age as well. Unfortunately he has no potential thoughHe's been stuck at 60 overall all season. My only other option is keeping him, but just loaning him out every season. The reason why I've kept him so long despite his potential is actually because that penalty shootout against Luton. At the same time I don't feel too bad about possibly letting him go because in real life the club just let him go and Jack Midson and Luke Moore too. Couldn't believe it when I read it. New manager said they had to get rid of some dead wood -__-
Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Well, last week I started my Everton Career Mode - Best DECISION EVER!!
Im into Season 2 already and I LOVE my team!
I still have Howard in goal - he is a rock! 82 OVR at 35 Years old - no stat has decreased.
Fullbacks ofcourse couldn't be replaced - both sitting at a brilliant 83 OVR - Seamus at 26 and Baines at 29 - both racked up 8 assists each last season!
I bagged myself Kouyate from Anderlecht at the start of the first season and he is a rock, growing to 78 OVR in one season - and to partner him is Musacchio who I picked up at 81 OVR for a January free transfer on 25000 a week - a very tidy transfer!
Due to me coming 5th - and winning the FA Cup - I got a steady 30 million, so this is where the team gets interesting!
I'm running a 4-3-3 attacking, and my two Centre Mids interchange between Thiago who arrived from Bayern for 13 million and Osman - and James McArthy / Dos Santos - these two are fighting for a place in the team and I'm undecided, because Dos Santos' passing is incredible! My CAM ofcourse is Barkley - with a tidy 16 year old 72 OVR CAM sitting on my bench with the tag - An exciting prospect - HE IS AMAZING!
Right wing is a set placement of Kevin Miralles with Dealoufeo on the bench who I picked up for 2million start of the second season (BARGAIN - he felt homesick in Spain for BARCA LMFAO - was gunna buy him anyway) and left wing is for THE OX who I straight swapped with McGeady who just didn't cut it for me, always missing chances and played all season and got 1 goal and 0 assists - awful player. The OX is 81 OVR at 20 years old - brilliant player and is English - perfect!!
Anyway - for some reason I kept Lacina Traore, although I asssumed he would leave for Monaco?!? Ah well, it worked out wel as I sold him to Monaco for 32 million - and bought Icardi who is 80 OVR - and a back up Jermain Defoe - a prolific striker who won't be needed much, but in the off chance I know he can come up with the goods!
I've won all 4 Europa League Games in the group so far against Werder Bremen, Olympiakos and Aberdeen - and also unbeaten in the league from 4 games - 2 win 2 draws - and my next game is City who are ahead of me by one point on 9 - I'm gunna wrap them up!Hopefully anyway, although they have Iniesta and Silva playing behind 87 rated Jovetic and 90 Aguero
**** - anyway, if you's want to hear more just tell me please so I can make notes etc!
Also, Green - Centre Midfielder, 18 year old or something 64 rated after one season from being 58 - 87 short passing!!!! WHAT THE HELL!Last edited by Petch98; 07-29-2014, 08:11 AM.Comment
Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Cohen announced as Forest captain.
July 27 2013
Just 6 days of being in charge at The City Ground, Jake Gaspar has appointed long serving defender Chris Cohen as captain. The announcement came on the club's website this morning with a statement from Gaspar: Chris, I think will be a legendary captain at this club for the future and that's why I am delighted confirming him as our new long term captain. Cohen who signed for Forest in 2007 is taking over the captaincy from Welsh defender Danny Collins, who was captain for only a season. Collins resigned from the captaincy duties after last season ended will still be apart of the leadership group as well as Andy Reid and new signing Kelvin Wilson who originally played for Nottingham before moving to Celtic.
Fawaz Al-Hasawi tweeted after the confirmation of Cohen's captaincy tweeting: I am really excited about the stability this clubs is building #PLherewecome.
The Nottingham forest players are currently on a 3 week training camp in the United States and come back on the 10th of July.
TOON TO THE TOP
SEASON 2
Williamson to Everton
Newcastle centre back Mike Williamson has joined Everton for a fee thought to be £1.6 million.
Ramires to Newcastle
Newcastle have grabbed a bargain deal for Brazil international Ramires. He has left Chelsea to join the North East outfit for £5 million on a 3 year deal. Jamiec47 has said "He is a class act who commands the middle of the park and he can drive forward as well as defend."
Netherlands Striker Joins Permanently
Luuk de Jong has signed permanently for Newcastle for £6.5 million after spending last season on loan at the Tyneside outfit. He said "I thoroughly enjoyed it here last season and when I was told that the gaffer was trying to get me permanently I was desperate to arrive."
Depth in Defence
Schalke defender Felipe Santana has joined Newcastle for £2.5 million. Jamie said in a press conference, "I was looking for defensive depth and I saw that a move to Mainz had fell through so I pounced."
A World Class Signing
Dortmund left back Marcel Schmelzer has joined Newcastle in an attempt to strengthen the side for Champions League football. He has joined for a fee of £8 million.
Marquee Signing
Newcastle United have completed the deal for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in a £14.5 million deal from Borussia Dortmund. This has thought to have paved the way for an exit for Mikel. A fee had already been agreed with Chelsea to take Andre Schurlle for £12 million + Sissoko, but Aubameyang's arrival has deemed that deal unneeded, and with Sissoko staying, Mikel can leave.
Goodbye Mikel
John Obi Mikel has left Newcastle after just one season to join Bordeaux for £6 million.
Post-Season Interview with Rangers TV
Q: How was your first campaign at Rangers for you?
A: Well, I thought we could have done better points wise. But we did finish second in the league, which isn't bad, but we did finish behind Celtic. And for me now, and the supporters, that one fact is going to hurt for a long time to come.
Q: You did qualify for Europe again, do you think we'll have a better run next year?
A: I do think that we'll go farther next year, it was being drawn against Dortmund this year for us that was unkind and they simply out-classed us on the pitch. If we can top the group, I don't see how we couldn't get past the Round of 32 next year.
Q: Expectations for next year? Certainly beating Celtic a few more times! (Laughing)
A(Laughing) Yes, well obviously that is priority number one for us, is to beat Celtic. This year, being first year in charge of this great club, and with the new tranfers it was difficult to get them on the same page. However, we made progress throughout the year and I do feel we will be much more improved over the year and next year we'll be the team to fear!
Q: We've got time for one more question, anything to say to the supporters?
A: Thank you all for standing behind the club this year. I know we had some bad moments, and yet you all were still there backing the lads every weekend. We will improve and we will start bringing silverware back to Ibrox starting next year. Remember, never give up hope on our lads no matter what, No Surrender.
Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
TOON TO THE TOP
SEASON 2
Match 1
Swansea 0-4 Newcastle
Aubameyang 20
Ramires 30
Depay 35
De Jong 90
Aubameyang got a debut goal when he used his blistering pace to escape the defender and smash it into the top corner. Ramires then got a debut goal of his own, driving forward and smashing it hard and low into the bottom corner. Depay made it 3, tapping in at the far post and De Jong capitalised on a defensive error to make it 4 late on.
Another Exit
Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga M'Biwa has joined Inter Milan for £9 million on a 4 year deal. It is thought that Mapou was unhappy at being behind Vlaar and Rojo in the pecking order.
Backup Strikers
Nolan Roux of Lille has signed for Newcastle for £3.7 million. He is thought to be there as depth for the many fixtures Newcastle will have this season.
Match 2
Newcastle 3-1 Tottenham
Ameobi 9
Sissoko 16
Soldado 19
De Jong 69
Ameobi cut back and smashed in to open the scoring. Sissoko then drove forward and fired in from the edge of the box to make it 2. Soldado got one back, firing in from distance. De Jong made sure of victory, controlling it with his chest and then volleying into the roof of the net on the turn.
A Powerful Defender
David Luiz has signed for Newcastle in what many are calling a bargain of the summer. The defender cost the club £6 million to sign on a 3 year deal. When asked about the transfer Jamie said, "I was looking for a replacement for Mapou so I enquired about Luiz. Chelsea said £50 million so I laughed and offered 6. They accepted it. What kind of idiot would agree with £50 million for anyone other than the top 7 players in the world, Ronaldo, Messi, Ribery, Zlatan, Bale, Suarez and James."
Match 3
Arsenal 1-2 Newcastle
De Jong 6
Aubameyang 19
Doumbia 74
De Jong smashed in the opener off the post before Aubameyang ran clear and smashed in to the far post. Doumbia got one back, smashing in on the rebound.
