I enjoyed this season a lot and I know that the next season will be a good read, too. Good luck in the league and in the Champions League! I can't believe Zenit won it.

Nice month there, a perfect one if I'm not mistaken? Surprised there is still someone ahead of you in the table! Although I don't think they will be ahead of you for long.

Great season there! I'm sad that I came in late and didn't get to follow much of it all the way through. Tough loss to Atletico though, but it gives you something to fight for next season, and a little extra motivation the next time you play them

        FIFA 14
        Season 3
        2015/16

        Objectives:
        League -
        Avoid Relegation
Cup - Reach Round of 32

        August 2015

        Transfers

        Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi <-----Yeovil Town 90k

The 25 year old RB from England returns this season after spending last season on loan. He will be used mainly as cover for McCoy.

        Luis Valencia <-----Envigado Season Loan

23 year old Valencia is brought back on loan this season to give us an extra striking option. He could be a vital asset this season.

        Pre-Season Friendly
        Wycombe 0-0 Rayo Vallecano

        Our Best: Jimmy Ryan

        Recap:
Our 2nd Pre-Season friendly came against Spanish opposition in the form of Rayo Vallecano at home. 20 minutes in Agard and Pittman played a wonderful one two with Pittman unable to guide the ball home on the stretch from the 6 yard box. It ended 0-0 but we had some good chances to win it.

        Capital One Cup Round 1
        Newport County 1-3 Wycombe
        McClure 24' 72'

        Zebroski 31'
        Stewart 49'

Man of the Match: Matt McClure

        Recap:
In the early moments Widdowson cleared a ball off our goal line to save us from going behind. Then after some pressure from us McClure put us in front with 24 minutes gone. He tackled the CB on the edge of the box and then slid the ball underneath the keeper. Newport then equalised 7 minutes later with a lucky goal. A cross was volleyed and Walker made a brilliant save. Zebroski was there for an easy tap in. After the break a pressured back pass went out over the end line to give us a corner. Wood swung it in and Stewart got his head on it to give us the lead. A McCoy cross in the 72nd minute found the head of McClure at the back post and it ended up in the net to give us a 3-1 lead going into the last 10 minutes. We march on to Round 2 against Peterborough.

        Match 1
        Wycombe 0
        -0 Watford

Man of the Match: Paris Cowan-Hall

        Recap:
Our first game in the Championship was a home fixture against Watford. We looked to get our season off to a good start at Court Lane. We were under a lot of pressure in the opening stages and Watford struck the post in the 20th minute. We didn't manage a single shot in the 1st half. We held our own in the 2nd half and McClure had a great chance to snatch all 3 pouts in the last minute but his header was saved by the Watford keeper. A solid point for us.

        Match 2
        Wycombe 2
        -0 Bolton
        Angol 69'
        Agard 87'

Man of the Match: Marvin McCoy

        Recap:
It took until the 69th minute but there was a breakthrough. And it was for us! Angol won the ball off the Centre Half and hit it first time into the bottom corner from the penalty spot. Agard struck his first league goal for Wycombe when him and the other substitute, Pittman, combined with 3 minutes left to play. Pittman won the ball in our half and hit a lobbed ball over the defence from our half way line for Agard to run on to. He got to it on the left corner of the box and turned inside to finish it past the Bolton keeper. This gave us our first league win of the campaign.

        Match 3
        Blackburn 1-2 Wycombe
        Pittman 23'

        Ruben Rochina 48'
        Ryan 79'

Man of the Match: Jimmy Ryan

        Recap:
Our first away game of the season was at 3rd placed Blackburn. We looked to keep our form going and it was when Agard and Pittman combined again in this match when with 23 minutes on the clock Agard received the ball to his feet. He turned and played it in between the Centre Half and Left Back to find the run of Pittman. He took a touch and blasted it home with his right foot. We piled on the pressure for the remainder of the 1st half with 2 more shots from Pittman and 1 from Scowen, all of which were close to finding the back of the net. However Blackburn equalised just 3 minutes into the 2nd half with a Ruben Rochina header. On 75 minutes Blackburn were awarded a penalty when Pittman mistimed a challenge just inside the box. Fortunately the penalty struck the crossbar. We counter attacked and the resulting corner was badly cleared falling to Ryan on the edge of the box. He had a shot and it went in of the post to give us a 2-1 win.

        Match 4
        Wycombe 1
        -0 Sheffield Wednesday
        Kewley-Graham 72'

Man of the Match: Jordan Wordsworth

        Recap:
Youth Academy product Jordan Wordsworth got his first start in this one and he impressed. We dominated the 1st half with 6 out of 6 shots on target. A bad clearance from the keeper in the 72nd minute went up in the air. McClure won the header and he headed it to Wordsworth. He delicately chipped over the defence to Kewley-Graham who was in between the penalty spot and the edge of the box. He struck it on the half volley past the keeper. Wordsworth got an assist and Man of the Match in his 1st professional start.

        Match 5
        Doncaster 1-2 Wycombe
        Robinson 31'
        Kretzschmar 38'
        Agard 55'

Man of the Match: Paris Cowan-Hall

        Recap:
An away match against a side we were promoted with last season. We expect to take all 3 points from this game. Disaster struck as 17 minutes in Ryan dislocated his shoulder after falling heavily on it. It got worse as in the 31st minute Robinson scored for Doncaster. The Doncaster winger got inside the box and pulled it back for Robinson to finish it well. There was nothing walker could do. But we responded brilliantly pulling one back 7 minutes later. Cowan-Hall swung a cross in from the left for Agard to attack. He didn't win the header but it fell to Kretzschmar on the corner of the 6 yard box and he made no mistake. We had some chances from corners before halftime but the half ended 1-1. We came out pumped up and 10 minutes in Agard had put us in front. Cowan-Hall put him in down the line and Agard got inside the box, turned and fired it home. We were under some pressure in the last 10 minutes but we held out for the win.

Jimmy Ryan is out for 8 weeks due to a dislocated shoulder.

Obviously it's only been a month into the season, but it looks like you have set yourself up for a run into the premier league. Can't wait to see how this season plays out over time especially since I haven't ever gotten a chance to follow you since I went missing when you came around. Good luck!

If we're talking about victories both of the months were perfect which was really surprising. The team was playing really well together and my attackers were good. A lot of the teams I faced in those two months use only three defenders which may have had an impact on the results.

I'll give you a very small spoiler for January: after the first league game of the month I'm in first. To be honest I don't like that because it would be extremely unrealistic and strange to win the league with a team like Verona. I would prefer to finish in a place between third and fifth.

Great beginning to the season! I think you can make it to the Premier League but maybe it would be better for you to spend two seasons in the Championship to improve the team. Good luck in each case. Also, was your budget really bad or did you just not need any other players?

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Hey guys, first of all, thanks for the feedback. It's been a good start to the season, but so much can change so quickly. The board wants us to finish mid-table, but we really should be looking to qualify for the Europa League, so it'll be important for us to kick on with this good form and keep punching above our weight to achieve that.

I'm also trying to implement the Ajax-Barcelona style of play. This means keeping at least 60% possession in each game. When we have the ball, we play loads of passes ranging from short to medium to long. Essentially, we want to overload one side of the pitch and tire the opponent, forcing them to make a mistake or give us an opening. When we don't have the ball, we want to press fiercely as high up the pitch as possible, trying to recover the ball as quickly as we can before starting all over again.

Tactically, we will be using moderately quick build-up with a variety of passes. There won't be much risk in our passing, nor will we look to cross from wide areas too often, but we will be ready to shoot when possible. Both build-up and chance creation will be organised. Defensively, we'll be using high pressing, aggression and width (to avoid losing our shape).

What better formations to employ than those which proved so successful for the geniuses who perfected the system? I'll be using Cruyff's 3-4-3 and Guardiola's 4-3-3, choosing whichever one better suits the given opposition.

Sorry for the boring tactics talk!

No, it's not boring at all. I find it really interesting when we (especially you) share our tactics and create custom formations that fit the playing style. You always explain things clearly and interestingly and they are easy to understand. I'm looking forward to seeing what you will come up with this time. When you're ready make sure to explain your game plan to us.

You'll have to let us know how this goes after you get a good sample of matches played. I don't mind tactics talk at all! I actually like it, I know Chico really likes talking tactics as well.

I didn't use a 4-3-3 much in FIFA 14, but in 15 that has been my main formation for Exeter and it has been very effective. I haven't been playing at very high levels of competition yet of course, but I have a lot of fun with it.

I played 4-3-3 with Bilbao the whole season and it was a new, yet very good experience for me. If you have pacey wingers with good ball control, you can easily chop in, plus going on counters usually is deadly due to the same wings.

I do feel like that the CAM role is actually the most important one, simply because the distributor has to get those passes through the defense and to the striker for the easy tap-ins. I felt while playing Muniain it was a lot easier, due to the fact that his ball control was a lot better than Thiagos. Even though he wasn't strong on the ball, his quickness and acceleration with the ball got him past defenders with ease.

Your CMs have to be defensive minded, as 4-3-3 leaves gaps between midfield and defenders (teams like Real can destroy you in counters, or Zenit in my experience ). Also, the other teams wingers can get left quite open in situations.

Sorry for the wall of text, but all in all, if you are playing against a team that will defo not kill you on the counters, 4-3-3 is quite good. If you do play a team like that, you must be certain that you don't let them counter you.

                    Nice post though Indi!

@ Simppu12 - Great month you had there, I do feel like Wickham should have been the POTM, since Toni scored a few pens, yet to eaches own I believe. It is a fairy tale story you got there, being second in the league.

You beat Inter, a big team, true, yet not even in the top six? What place are they one?

@ Keano16 - A really good start, obviously, you had a tough first game, yet you seemed to be beasting in the others! I know your goal is to avoid relegation, but that seems really unlikely, however, getting promoted would truely be sick.

YES! Completely agree with the bolded points. The first signing I made for Exeter was a playmaker to take over that CAM spot, Ryan Williams who I had used in my previous career with Morecambe, and he led League 2 in assists my first season, and he is having a hell of a season this year both scoring and assisting.

As for the other 2 CM spots, I made an effort to find one with really good marking/tackling stats, and that would be Yoell van Nieff who's a CM with a secondary position of LB. The other spot I use a guy who can really go box-to-box and play both sides effectively. Exeter already had Liam Sercombe and I quickly found out he was perfect for me in that role. He has been one of my key players, and has played in the most matches for me of anyone aside from my captain who plays at CB.

Keep in mind these are league 2 players haha, so not the most talented group, but their stats hold up well compared to the level of competition in the categories I talked about above.

I love reading tactics talk. It's great, and I have been experimenting to get the perfect one for my team in my upcoming career.

Personally I have never used the 3-4-3 of FIFA and the 4-3-3 hasn't appealed to me because I haven't got the hang of crossing on 15. It was my favourite to use on 14 but it just doesn't work for me on this.

I might capitalise on this talk to tell people a tactic that worked incredibly for me in my Liverpool career. I played a narrow diamond with Sterling on the tip having a free roaming role, Gerrard in front of the defence with the cut out passes tactic. I had Balo as a target man and Sturridge to run in behind the defence. I would go more in detail but I'm not with my PS3.

This year I have used the "2014-15 Ancelotti 4-3-3 (one attacking midfielder and two central, not defensive midfielders)" which has worked well for me but like you said it's vulnerable to counter attacks. Last year I was a big fan of the "2013-14 Ancelotti 4-3-3 (one defensive and two attacking midfielders)" and I loved it. This year I find it good as well but I haven't had that many chances to use it. In the 4-3-3 with one defensive midfielder in my opinion it's really important to have a really defensive midfielder who doesn't attack at all so he can cover the defenders. A favourite of mine for that role is Nemanja Matic.

Like you said the wingers are really important in the 4-3-3. In my playing style they cut in a lot and go for goal, just like Ronaldo does in real life.

On every FIFA I have liked the 4-2-3-1 a lot and FIFA 15 isn't an exception. I like the stability of the formation because it has enough defensive players and enough attacking players and that's the formation I used with Hertha. Now, with Verona, I'm using a 4-4-2 with two defensive midfielders and it's working really well. The other one of them is set to attack and the other one sits in front of the defence. The wingers are important for me because I use them a lot in creating chances and the partnership of my two strikers (Toni and Wickham) is great. They both have nine goals and a total of nine assists.

I completely agree with you and Cruzerr. The CAM is the most vital part of any of my teams to distribute the passes. If I am playing with 2 midfielders, I always go for a good tackler as it is important to hold that midfield line because if that goes to ****, you've suddenly got a 3 on 2 situation as I play with attacking full backs. It's why in DM I make them cut out passes as it can completely end an otherwise threatening attack, especially if your defence is shaky.

You beat Inter, a big team, true, yet not even in the top six? What place are they on?
Thanks. It was a hard choice and I had to think a bit about who to choose as the POTM but at the end I decided that Toni deserved it more because he scored one more goal I think and because he assisted more goals than Wickham did. I still don't understand how I'm in second.

Yes, they are a big team but haven't been doing too well in the last four years. I'm not sure but I think they're in seventh with a point less than Sassuolo.
