    TOON TO THE TOP
    SEASON 1
    PS4

    Squad Report

    Starting 11

    GK: Asmir Begovic: 83: 9/10
    33 Apps, 13 Clean Sheets
Begovic was revelation for us when he came in. With 11 clean sheets in the league, all of them were for us, none for Stoke. He went until the second match of April without conceding and made some crucial saves for us that made our season. One of the signings that was so crucial to our incredible second half of the season to get us into the top 4. Will be kept and will be around for a while. An absolutely brilliant keeper.

    RB: Ryan Taylor: 75: 8/10
    28 Apps, 2 Goals, 2 Assists
The 30 year old Englishman started the season as second choice only playing in cup games. However, when Janmaat got injured he made the step up to the first team and I never looked back. A hell of a free kick and a knack for breaking into the box and setting up one of our attackers, I wish I could keep him. Unfortunately, he point blank refuses to sign a new contract so he will be out of contract at the end of the season. Hopefully Janmaat will do just as well as him next season.

    CB: Kolo Toure: 77: 9/10
    27 Apps, 1 Goal
The 34 year old Ivorian was signed in January on the cheap to sure up the defence, and he did just that. A formidable defender with decent pace and great strength, he didn't make any errors. Despite being partnered with the captain, he controlled the back line and acted as the defensive enforcer. However he will be slowly fazed out of the starting line up due to his age. A brilliant player and the second of my top 3 signings. Will be kept.

    CB: Fabricio Coloccini: 82: 7/10 (C)
    36 Apps
A good captain and still growing in overall at 33 years old. He won every header in defence and made every clearance. Was a lot better in the first half of the season but when Toure came in he was upstaged. It would have been nice if he was able to contribute at the other end of the field from corners but throughout the season he was a decent defender. Just like Toure, will be fazed out slowly throughout the season but will be kept.

    LB/CDM: Jack Colback: 74: 7/10
    34 Apps, 3 Assists
He started the season in defensive midfield with Tiote, controlling the play with his excellent passing, but the arrival of Ronaldinho caused a series of events that pushed him into his second position of left back. He played well, defending well and worked brilliantly with Aarons down the left hand side, good at overlapping and his passing was brilliant, able to play out from the back easily. Will be kept but may drop to the bench next season.

    RM/CDM: Moussa Sissoko: 76: 6/10
    34 Apps, 3 Goals, 5 Assists
This guy did not impress me much this season. Not in right mid and not in centre mid. He contributed to goals and decent plays, but when he got the ball he was never in control. Often got in the way of chances, running in front of a player as he tries to made a run and playing passes worse than anyone else on the team. Has pre-season to prove himself, otherwise on his way out.

    CAM/CDM: Remy Cabella: 81: 8/10
    39 Apps, 5 Goals, 9 Assists
In the first half of the season this guy was incredible, scoring and setting up goals. Making runs with the ball that would beat any defender, good passing, good everything. When Ronnie arrived I pushed Cabella deeper and, although it affected his performances initially he got used to the position. He was able to control the play from a deeper role, not getting the assists but starting the chances. I'm slowly adapting Cabella into a deep lying playmaker. His first touch is excellent and he can make a turn and send Aarons or Kampl flying up the wing. Brilliant player.

    RM: Kevin Kampl: 77: 7/10
    12 Apps, 1 Goal
Took a while for this guy to get used to the Premier League but he is a nightmare for defenders down the right hand side. Towards the end of the season he made a noticeable jump and was able to flick it past the full back and not be caught. His passing is on point and so are his runs. Best of all, his link up play with Riviere. They have a great passing move on with each other and seemed to connect immediately. I see him being a vital player next season.

    LM: Rolando Aarons: 71: 9/10
    37 Apps, 7 Goals, 5 Assists
Brilliant youngster. His link up play with Dinho was the best I've seen. Sudden bursts of pace and brilliant control. He has a knack for winning penalties, beating the full back to cut inside into the box. He usually is either brought down or scores. There was a couple of own goals this season that probably should have been credited to him but stats don't say everything. He is just amazing. I might loan him out next season as he is not growing as much as I would like.

    CAM: Ronaldinho: 79: 9/10
    13 Apps, 10 Goals, 2 Assists
Incredible. His passing is amazing, his finishing his amazing, his dribbling is amazing, everything is amazing. He can get a shot out of nothing, his link up with Aarons is incredible and best of all, he doesn't have to sprint. Just gets the ball and takes a few touches before it is with someone else. His penalty stats and free kick stats are brilliant as well. His only flaw is his stamina. Will be a crucial part of the team next season before I start to faze him out of the team. A bargain at £4 million.

    ST: Emmanuel Riviere: 74: 8/10
    26 Apps, 12 Goals, 3 Assists
Started the season as second choice to Papiss Cisse but when he got his chance, he took it and was brilliant. Linking up well with Kampl and getting quite a few goals in the second half of the season. Scoring was our problem in the first half but with Ronnie and Kampl feeding him he was able to finish as our top scorer. However, I will need a better striker for next season so Emmanuel will be dropped to the bench. He will still get chances though, he just isn't at Champions League quality.

    Notable Subs/Reserves

    ST: Ayoze Perez: 73: 6/10
    18 Apps, 6 Goals, 1 Assist
Not a bad substitute striker. Good on the ball and has quick feet. He has good ability and has popped up with crucial goals throughout this season. A good player. I shall try and loan him out next season.

CB: Virgil van Dijk: 75: 6/10
    7 Apps
Didn't get much of a chance to prove himself, however from when he played he seemed like a solid defender who can also slot into the midfield slot when needed. Will be put into the first team next season as I faze out the older players and bring in the younger ones.

    LB: Davide Santon: 76: 6/10
    23 Apps, 1 Goal
Was removed from the starting lineup after the series of changes following Ronaldinho's arrival. Colback stepped up brilliantly and to be honest, I don't see a future for Santon at the club.

    ST: Nelson Oliveira: 73: 6/10
    6 Apps, 3 Goals, 1 Assist
Not much of a chance to judge him, however he was terrible upon arrival. He played against Everton, grabbed a hat trick and played relatively well from then on. Will be seen more of next season.

CAM: Siem de Jong: 78: 5/10
    20 Apps, 5 Goals, 2 Assists
Not as good as Ronaldinho, Cabella or Perez who can all slot into that position. When he played he didn't perform at all. Will be sold in the summer.

    RB: Daryl Janmaat: 75: 6/10
    15 Apps, 1 Assist
Got injured in the first half of the season and didn't get a chance to come back into the starting lineup. Will be first choice next season.

    CB: Steven Taylor: 76: 6/10
    22 Apps
A decent defender but Toure completely pushed him out of the picture. Will be sold next season more than likely.

    GK: Jak Alnwick: 61: 7/10
    14 Apps, 7 Clean Sheets
A great goalkeeper. Brilliant reflexes and will continue to be my second choice keeper next season.

Guys, just thought I'd tell you. There is a FIFA 15 glitch that has affected me. If you sign a player from your youth academy you can't access the academy without the game crashing!

Oh wow, that is terrible. Hopefully you can find a way to get past the problem. That has never happened to me but good luck with it.

Also, good finish to the season. Nice work finishing in a Champions League position after a tough start.

            FIFA 15 - Season 2

            The Grecians

            Season Review

            Goal Keepers
Christy Pym - 46 appearances, 1 goal, 12 clean sheets.
Paddy McEleney - 14 appearances, 7 clean sheets.
            James Hamon - No appearances.

Christy Pym was solid in goal finishing in the top 5 for clean sheets in league play. He has improved each season and looks to be the favorite for first choice next season. Paddy McEleney certainly made a case for himself though. He was limited to cup matches only, but kept a clean sheet in exactly half of his appearances this year. He will be looking to challenge for first choice as soon as he can.

            Defenders
            Leon Robinson - 50 appearances, 1 goal, 3 assists, 13 clean sheets.
            Scot Bennett - 59 appearances, 1 goal, 1 assist, 19 clean sheets.
            Jordan Moore-Taylor - 49 appearances, 15 clean sheets.
            Liam Ridehalgh - 46 appearances, 3 goals, 5 assists, 14 clean sheets.
Aaron Dawson - 21 appearances, 1 goal, 7 clean sheets.
            Connor Riley-Lowe - 6 appearances, 1 assist, 3 clean sheets.
Matt Miazga - 21 appearances, 4 clean sheets.
            Danny Butterfield - 1 appearance.

Scot Bennet, the captain, was reliable all season as he appeared in the most matches of any player for the club. Ridehalgh proved to be the most versatile defender, showing his abilities moving forward with 3 goals and 5 assists to his name. Moore-Taylor and Robinson proved that the manager could rely on them as they each took part in double digit clean sheets.

            Midfielders
            Jake Hesketh - 41 appearances, 7 goals, 7 assists.
Yoell van Nieff - 45 appearances, 9 goals, 14 assists.
            Adam McCartan - 36 appearances, 4 goals, 8 assists.
            Aaron McKenzie - 40 appearances, 5 goals, 7 assists.
            Isaac Fryers - 14 appearances, 2 assists.
            Matthew Grimes - 10 appearances, 1 goal.
            Fraser Walker - 1 appearance.
            Andrew Wynne - 30 appearances, 3 goals, 5 assists.
            Jason Pope - 1 appearance.

Yoell van Nieff was a true midfield general finishing the season with 14 assists. He also showed a knack for set pieces as he scored on multiple free kicks throughout the season. Jake Hesketh proved to be a solid signing contributing both goals and assists, while Adam McCartan had a great debut season with the senior team playing in the #10 role.

            Forwards
Bradford Jamieson IV - 48 appearances, 27 goals, 6 assists.
            James Wilson - 50 appearances, 41 goals, 28 assists.
            Luke McClure - 45 appearances, 7 goals, 5 assists.
            Alex MacDonald - 43 appearances, 7 goals, 6 assists.
            Chris Dean - 19 appearances, 7 goals, 4 assists.
            Josh Ginnelly - 35 appearances, 15 goals, 3 assists.
            Hakeeb Adelakun - 11 appearances, 6 goals, 2 assists.

The true gem of the Exeter City club under Bumosix, the forwards had a great year all around. New singing Bradford Jamieson was unbelievable finishing with 27 goals. McClure showed promise on the left wing and will look to take the next step forward next season. Josh Ginnelly had a solid year with 15 goals, and Chris Dean proved himself a reliable bench option at striker. The true story is the play of James Wilson though. He finished the year leading the club, and league, in both goals and assists. 41 goals and 28 assists are absurd numbers, and Wilson proved that he is truly a complete forward.

The American international has had a solid season so far and looks to help Fulham to get out of the relegation zone. He will wear the number 6 shirt which was previously worn by Bodurov who moved to Nottingham Forest earlier this month after being transfer listed. Elsad Zverotic has also left the london club after being released. Young German Thomas Eisfeld has been loaned to League 2 club Morecambe for the rest of the season.

Update on the 1st of Febuary

I was surprised that you brought only four players with the money you had and none of them is a big name player. They are still pretty good players and I'm sure they will help you. Those games didn't go that well but you will get adjusted to the team soon.

I bought what I needed. They had some good players in the squad when I was hired they just weren't playing them. Also wanted it a bit realistic so I didn't go out and buy all the talents in the world. But come summer, See a clear out.

                      FIFA 15 | PS3 | Season 1 | 2014-15

                      The Swans

                      November 2014

                      Match 10
                      Everton 3-1 Swansea
                      EVE - Mirallas 5' Distin 45' Gibson 78'
                      SWA - Montero 21'

                      MOTM: Kevin Mirallas

Mirallas was put in by Lukaku. Amat didn't track Mirallas' run at all leaving him an easy finish. Ki won the ball back on the edge of our box and then Shelvey weighted a pass beautifully to the onrushing Montero who held off Coleman and finished past Howard. Mirallas' corner found Distin on the edge of the box and he just headed it carefully in. Gibson added the 3rd after passing us to shreds.

                      Match 11
                      Swansea 2-0 Arsenal
                      SWA - Ki 39' Dyer 80'

                      MOTM: Ki Sung Yeung

The Gunners came to Wales and after losing our last game against Everton we needed 3 points here. After several missed Arsenal chances Ki won the ball off Ramsey just inside our half. Arsenal were caught out as they had only Mertesacker covering. Ki easily beat him for pace and he shot with the ball going in off the post. Full of confidence a shot from Shelvey and a header from Bony quickly followed. Carroll replaced Shelvey and just after coming on he played Dyer in down the line. Dyer beat Debuchy for pace and finished confidently past Ospina. We came away with the 3 points off a disappointing Arsenal.

                      Match 12
                      Manchester City 1-1 Swansea
                      MCI - Aguero 87'
                      SWA - Shelvey 9'

                      MOTM: Lukasz Fabianski

A tough task awaited us at the Ethiad as we faced City in match 12. We got off to a great start when Shelvey scored in the 9th minute. I have no idea what Mangala and Kompany were doing. After bombarding our goal with shots Aguero was the one that equalized 3 minutes from time. Toure's shot was saved by Fabianski but Aguero was there to slide in and poke in the rebound. Hanging on we got a valuable point. Fabianski was a major part of it with an amazing 11 saves.

                      Swansea 1-0 Crystal Palace
                      SWA - Bony 72'

                      MOTM: Nathan Dyer

Palace were our visitors today and it was a tight game. We looked to just be the better team and proved it when Dyer crossed for Bony to head home on 72 minutes for his 12th of the season. We closed out the game for our 2nd win of the month.

                      Player of the Month

                      Lukasz Fabianski

He kept us in many games. Especially the City and Arsenal games where he made some great saves including 11 against City. He kept 2 clean sheets and was very unlucky not to keep one against City where their goal was a rebound. He picks up his 2nd Player of the Month award.

Alright finished my first season in fifa 15 and it was with Aston Villa. Finished 6th in the league, semi final finish in the capital one and fifth round exit on the Fa (Liverpool eliminated me both cups) . Schar, Ayew (LM one) and Luiz Adriano (from Shaktar) all arrived on a free. Shaw, Januzaj, Cleverley all went back to United. I bought Ricardo Rodriguez 16mil plus Aly Cissokho, Holtby and Lopes the Lyon GK on his last year of contract that Lyon sold me dirt cheap 4,5mil. Guzan wanted out after being nominated the keeper of the Barclay's and United got him.

The board gave me 31 million to start with I was like WHAAATT!?! THAT IS AWESOME.

Anyways I don't understand how I got into Europa League, sixth place gets in also?

I think they play in a "playoff" type entrance like how Mexico got into the WC this past summer. I think they had to go and play someone in the Oceanic region and whoever won those 2 games was in the WC.

Basically if a team that has already qualified for Europe wins the League cup or the FA Cup 6th place qualify for Europa League as well.

Btw, no playoff involved other than the qualifying round that most of the teams take past in

                              Match 1

                              Manchester United 1-2 Newcastle
                              Murnane 53
                              Rooney 61
                              Bony 90

We took the lead in this match through one of the two youth academy products that made it to the team before the game glitched and sent my best YA player into my team but unusable and the rest of my YA inaccessible. He headed in from Kampl's free kick. Rooney equalised, smashing into the top corner after a one-two with RVP. However we won it in stoppage time, new signing Wilfried Bony tapping in from close range after Lindegaard failed to stop Aarons' low ball in.

                              Match 2

                              Newcastle 1-0 Everton
                              Oliveira 86 (PEN)
Our second match of the season was against the reigning champions and they showed why, defending valiantly and forcing Begovic into some brilliant saves. We only won it late on when Riviere was brought down by Baines and substitute Nelson Oliveira stepped up to convert the penalty.

                              Match 3

                              QPR 1-2 Newcastle
                              Bony 4
                              Pattie 22
                              Dzsudzsak 63 (PEN)

Bony opened the scoring after an incredible move from kickoff. The ball was played out to Kampl who played a brilliant ball through to Clyne who made a terrific bending run down the outside. He ran onto the ball and flicked it into the box for Bony to volley in from close range. Pattie equalised with a header after Colback was outpaced down the wing. Dzsudzsak regained the lead from the penalty spot after Delph was took out in the box with a 2 footed tackle by Sandro.

                              Thoughts

Time to talk about my signings and sales. Well first of all I sold Taylor and Marveaux as they were surplus to requirements before PSG put in a £15 million bid for Cabella. I asked for £25 mil and the said 23, which I accepted. I had been handed a £20 million budget initially and I used the money to buy a new striker of a higher quality and I chose Bony of Swansea who has worked out brilliantly with his power and strength. I then sold Santon for not as much as I would have liked but I didn't want to stagnate his progress which is exactly what was happening and there were no other suitors. De Jong went after an awful first season for a lot more money than I expected to get and Sissoko went for double his value. I bought in Barkley, last seasons top scorer as a long term replacement who will work in rotation with Ronnie for the season. Then after a lot of players left on loan, including Perez and Aarons, I bought in my favourite defender, Nathaniel Clyne giving away fibreglass man Daryl Janmaat. Medel came in to control the space in front of the defence while Delph ventures forward and Balasz came in as our winger for the season until Aarons comes back. Finally I brought in Clichy after a run of bad games for Colback.

Mini Debate: Tactical Defending or Legacy Defending?

What say you? I just thought about it last night as I noticed that in this year's game I struggle to get the tackle right when my opponent has the ball near the corner flag and I assume it would be a lot easier in Legacy defending.

Personally, I like Tactical Defending more because that way you are in control of your tackles. In Legacy you pretty much just hold the button down and hope your player wins it. With Tactical I can jockey more efficiently and wait for the opponent to reveal the ball enough for me to tackle it away. Also if your opponent dribbles past you you know it's your fault you lost the challenge because you didn't tackle at the right time. I have a tough time getting the tackle right near the corner flag and that's why I've been receiving a lot of goals through crosses so I still have to work on that. Which style of defending do you prefer? Does anyone still use Legacy Defending?
