Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

@Titan: October really looked like a rough month, but good to see you still in 3rd after that. Quite a crazy table going on there with Spurs and Everton as the ones above you! Much better results in November though. Two tough matches to start December, but you ended with a great win over Chelsea to stay ahead of them in the table! Good to see you up to second now.

@Simppu: Surprised to see AC Milan get you like that, and especially sucks that Valencia just had to score. Still, you're in no danger of missing out on advancing, and you are creating some separation in the league table. Sucks to see Benzema on such a dry spell after how good he has been for you though.

@Cruzerr: Quite a mixed bag of results in the first few months. You had some big time wins, and some unexpected losses. Real shame to get knocked out of the Capital One so early. At the end of it all though you are at the top of the Premier League and in the Champions League group. Really love the writing though, keep it up! You know how to keep us all invested in your careers.

@Indi: I agree with Chico in that when I saw the Brighton crest I thought I knew what was coming! You really threw a curveball at us, but in a good way. I am really looking forward to this career, especially if you continue this righting style!

@SHoward: Interesting to see a MLS career. I have always been a fan since I am American, but always felt too limited in a MLS career. Makes me happy to see someone finally get one going though since it has been very poorly represented in this thread. Just don't beat my Dynamo too bad

@Jagger: A Peterborough career, I don't know much about them but I've always been fond of lower division English careers. Hoping that you will find success early and build them up to become an English power!

@Jamie: Lots of draws and some unfortunate losses in this one. You played against a lot of tough competition though. Shame that you dropped below Chelsea in the table, but hopefully you can use that game in hand and get within 1 point. Such a heartbreaking way to get knocked out of the Champions League though, just 1 goal away from the final. You've got one ugly final month of matches coming up, I hope you can pull it off and edge out Chelsea!

@Chico: I see what you're doing. Trying to trick us with these 1 or 2 goal games, and them BAM 6 goals! That game must have been absolutely perfect! Awesome to see you move into the top position in the league, and by only 1 point will make an interesting end to the season. Your one youth academy prospect looks like he will be amazing! Looks likely to be a defender, but hopefully he can end up as a CDM and develop into an all around Yaya Toure type player.

@Moose: I swear you are putting out these updates faster than you used to! I'm still trying to catch up and you keep giving me more to watch haha. That's a good thing though since I will be able to keep watching and not having to wait until I finally do catch up.

What!? I never lied haha! Here's what I said back on page 880.

Hahaha I honestly wasn't expecting that huge win. We went into halftime 1-0 and they were playing really well against us. My guys just came out pumped up from the dressing room and Sabadell gave up. I was hoping he would be a CB since my captain is in his 30s already, but you're right I think it would be better if he ends up being an all rounder CDM. With his height I wouldn't mind dropping him down to CB when needed to. I THINK when I set the scout instructions I chose "winger" so he might end up being a LB/RB. Usually tall players aren't very fast though so I don't think he would work out there, in which case I would use him as CB anyway. I hope May is nice to him!

              OSA: Cuevas 8'
              BET: Molina 40'
Second vs Third and the scoreline shows just how tight this match was. This was Sportsfreak's opportunity to get closer to an auto promotion spot again, but Osasuna fought back hard as they try to overthrow Real Valladolid at the top of the table. Miguel De Las Cuevas, who ever since ending his scoring drought against Barcelona has been playing much better, scored the first goal of the night after the loanee Julian Luque played an incredible first-touch through ball to him from midfield that found Cuevas inside the box. Before the halftime whistle, Real Betis attacked down the right wing and crossed the ball into the box where Molina, the club's top scorer, was able to jump higher than Osasuna's defenders and head the ball into the back of the net. Osasuna would push forward the entire second half but Real Betis' goalkeeper Gimenez, one of the league's top goalkeepers, saved everything that was shot towards goal and finished the match with 10 saves and the Man of The Match award.

              INJURY NEWS
Victor Camarasa suffered a sprained knee during the match against Real Betis and will be out for 3 weeks.

              RC Recreativo 1 - 2 CA Osasuna
              OSA: Guillermo 45' Onwu 83'
              REC: Molina 87'
It looked as though Osasuna would be suffering from the same thing they did against Real Betis, as Recreativo's goalkeeper was at the top of the game and there was no shot he couldn't save. However right before halftime Sisi sent an early cross into the box with perfect timing as Guillermo made a run in behind his marker just barely avoiding an offside call. Guillermo would get to the end of the cross with enough space to head the ball comfortably into the back of the net giving Osasuna the lead! The second half would remain the same, with Osasuna creating plenty of chances but the Recreativo goalkeeper blocking everything. Jose David Ramirez dribbled past his marker in the 80th minute and crossed the ball into the box to find Manuel Onwu, who is great in the air and was able to head the ball in for Osasuna's 2nd goal of the night, finally giving Chavez a chance to breathe. Four minutes later Recreativo got one back through Molina, but they didn't have enough time to score another goal and Osasuna took the 3 points from their stadium.

              CA Osasuna 6 - 0 Sabadell FC
              OSA: Guillermo 36' Torres 49' Oier 62' Cuevas 65' 90' Ramirez 90'
Nobody, I mean nobody, was expecting this onslaught from Osasuna. Due to Camarasa's injury and Loe's participation with the Cameroon national team, young Mikel Merino started as CDM and the homegrown player's presence made a huge impact as he not only controlled the midfield in attack, but also stopped several of Sabadell's attacks before they reached the Osasuna centre backs. Guillermo scored the first goal with a header from a cross, and the first half ended 1-0. We were expecting a second half just as tight as the first half, but Osasuna came out of the dressing rooms ready to prey on their victims. In barely the 4th minute of the second half Roberto Torres scored the second goal, assisted by Merino, and this is what set the tone for the rest of the match. In the 62nd minute Torres would send Oier a through ball as Oier ran into the box, and the Spaniard would score Osasuna's 3rd goal. Now we were beginning to see Osasuna's dominance over Sabadell, and only three minutes later Miguel De Las Cuevas scored the 4th goal by bringing down a cross in the left side of the box and shooting it into the net. The match would remain 4-0 for 25 more minutes, until Sabadell really began to get desperate and sent all men forward, refusing to be humiliated without any goals in their favor. Osasuna took advantage of this, and right at the 90th minute Miguel De Las Cuevas dribbled past 2 Sabadell defenders, ran into the box and powered the ball into the net scoring the 5th goal through an incredible individual play. The referee still had the nerve to add 5 more minutes of injury time, and Sabadell received a 6th goal from Osasuna. The loanee Federico Palacios would receive a lob pass inside the box that was perfect for him to shoot first-touch, but the Spanish striker chose to pass it over to Jose David Ramirez who then just had to get the ball on target in an open net. The referee finally blew the final whistle and put an end to Sabadell's misery.

              SD Ponferradina 0 - 1 CA Osasuna
              OSA: Oier 77'
When news came that RC Recreativo had upset Real Valladolid and actually defeated them, we knew Osasuna would be pushing hard for the win against Ponferradina from the 1st minute of the match. As expected, Osasuna came out guns blazing pushing Ponferradina back in search for the win, but the Ponferradina goalkeeper was having an amazing match and was blocking everything that went towards goal. Ponferradina has one of the league's top scorers, Andriatsima, but their star striker wasn't able to get on the ball as much due to how high Osasuna were pressuring. The match was coming to a close and Chavez was really desperate now, looking to the sky annoyed with the Ponferradina goalkeeper's outstanding performance. Then in the 77th minute, the stadium exploded. Osasuna had a corner kick that wasn't able to find it's target, but the ball bounced towards Oier who was wide open on the opposite side of the box, and he took his shot to his near post that just barely went in in between the keeper and the post. Three points for Osasuna would mean the league had new league leaders, and the stadium erupted as Oier celebrated the goal with the away fans and his teammates. Ponfferadina's attempts to equalize the match were futile, and Osasuna retook the league leadership!

CA Osasuna Player of The Month

              LM - Julian Luque (Spain) (66 OVR 23yrs) (+3)
The loanee from RCD Espanyol was very close to winning the award last month before it was given to the top scorer Guillermo, but the young Spanish midfielder stayed consistent enough to give another great month. Luque is a starter with the Osasuna B Team, but he has also been a regular substitute for the first team especially when the team needs an attacking mind on the field. Luque plays as the brain in midfield and other teams have taken notice of this, making it common for Luque to receive multiple fouls when he comes in as a sub. When used out wide, he is a dangerous winger as he tends to cut in to the box and shoot. Luque replaced Roberto Torres at LCM in the match against Real Betis due to Torres' suspension, and although the team didn't hold possession as usual they played a very attacking style of football with Luque assisting Osasuna's only goal. The spaniard's contract with Osasuna would expire at the end of this season, but his performance and development should justify his option to buy and he may be staying at the club permanently if Chavez agrees to go through with it.

              Youth Academy

Pare Bulhoes Vinuesa Ramos - ?? (52-66, 78-94): The 16 year old from Spain immediately caught Chavez's eye when the youth academy resumed operations last month, and he is now in line for a potential call up to the senior team in the future. Ramos stands at 6'3" and has yet to decide on a position. With the youth teams he's played as a CB, CDM, Wide Midfielder, and Full Back. The youngster also hasn't chosen which name will be printed on his jersey when he does receive the call up...

              March Headlines

              Top of The Table!
Osasuna's season has been a difficult one with Chavez having a bumpy start in Spain, eventually becoming league leaders, losing the 1st place, and now getting it back. It may only be one point separating the top two teams, but what matters is that the Reds are in first! Chavez has developed a rivalry with Real Valladolid this season and it has been escalating as the season reaches an end. It all started in the Summer, when Chavez was trying to sign the young RB Ivan from Levante UD, as Osasuna desperately needed a fullback. Osasuna had reached an agreement with Levante, and were about to begin negotiations with the player, when Real Valladolid came in with a big offer for the same player. Due to the significantly bigger offer, Levante did everything they could to speed up negotiations, and blocked off Osasuna. Ivan would then join Valladolid, where his first team minutes have been minimal. The same situation almost happened 6 months later in January, when Osasuna were in talks with SD Eibar for Raul Albentosa. A fee had been agreed, and right when Osasuna began negotiations with Albentosa, Valladolid came in, bypassing Eibar, and tried to sign Albentosa on a pre-contract agreement. In this scenario, signing with Osasuna would benefit both Eibar and Albentosa, so Valladolid were not the favorites here and the player signed with Osasuna, where he has been an important starter. Now Valladolid are competing with Osasuna for the Liga Adelante title, and given both team's form it looks like it won't be decided until the final match of the season. The first time these two teams faced each other this season it ended in a draw, so predicting how their upcoming matchup will go is very difficult.

              Copa Del Rey

Next month we'll be seeing the match the fans have been anxiously waiting for: Real Madrid versus Osasuna for the Copa Del Rey. With Real Madrid participating in more prestigious tournaments such as La Liga and the Champions League, one would think Osasuna will have the upper hand since they must care more about winning the cup than Los Merengues, but Real Madrid is one of the clubs that is expected to win every competition they step foot in so they will surely be pushing for the trophy. Osasuna will be confident up front as they count with the cup's top scorer Guillermo in their ranks, but this will be a huge challenge even for the 21 year old striker as he hasn't faced players like Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas yet.

              Injury News

Victor Camarasa has made a full recovery and is ready to play at 100% in the first match of April. If he is to have any doubts about getting back into action Chavez won't be too worried as the youngster Mikel Merino showed he has more than what it takes to play in the CDM spot. Merino's performance in the 6-0 destruction against Sabadell will not be forgotten by the manager. Osasuna have been training hard in preparation for the decisive matches against Real Madrid and Real Valladolid, but the intense drills have claimed one of the players this week. Karim Ansarifard will be missing the rest of the season as he will be out for 4 months with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury. This unfortunate incident will serve as an opportunity for the loanee Federico Palacios to make some substitute appearances with the B team.

              Conclusion
Finally got the Youth Academy up and running. I was extremely surprised when Vinuesa appeared on my 3 star scout's first report. Just in time for a May boost. Fingers crossed! Merino continues to impress me and shows why it was a good choice not to sign a center midfielder for the B team in January. I guess I could say that he's a perfect example of why I like using B-Teams. He's only 64 overall, he hasn't grown in stats at all, but he is great on the field and is becoming a regular sub with the first team as well.

              Any feedback is appreciated,
              Thanks For Reading!

Very cleaver there chico Using me as the Betis manager. Im hoping Real madrid beats you in the cup so you can feel their wrath just like I did in my second leg against them

I'm actually looking to play a 4-3-3 formation with James as the striker he's tall and a little pacey at just 19!!!

Now I'm looking more forward to playing with him

Well I have to keep up with all of you guys! I see you guys pushing out a month every other day and I want to be able to do something similar in terms of quantity wise just to keep going with you guys, because I love reading all of the career modes here haha.

Chico: Wow, what a month! That 6 goal outburst was fantastic, and of course it looks like your use of B teams has really paid off for you with finding a few hidden gems to stick into the first team when you need them. Do you expect any bit of a let off of the gas pedal in the league with the Cup final coming nearer and nearer?

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Here we are, speeding down the A1. I've met with a number of clubs, and not one strikes me as the right fit.

"I don't get it, mate. Five interviews, and not a single one strikes your fancy? Don't tell me you've gone Billy Big Time."

"Come on, Liam. It just didn't feel right."

"What? All of them? What about Villa?"

"Lambert's a moron. As if I could do anything to convince him otherwise."

                        "Hull?"

"Bruce is fine, but that owner's mad. I can't imagine how the fans feel, what with him threatening to change the name."

"Okay, and what's your excuse for Sunderland?"

"Oh, that. Nothing, really. Poyet's just a c*nt."

"Jeez, mate. How picky can you get?"

"Sorry, Liam. I can't just pick a club because I have to. It's got to feel right, you know?"

"Yeah, I feel you, son. Let's see what else comes our way."

                        ...

                        "Liam."

                        "What's that?"

"You think I should just call Tony Bloom and ask to run the academy?"

"Are you bonkers, Indi? What was all that talk of not going backwards?"

"Doesn't look like anything else is gonna happen, does it?"

"Just you wait until I tell your missus you're thinking of giving up. Oh, she will have words for you, my boy."

"Liam, let's be honest. It doesn't look like my coaching career is going anywhere."

"Don't you lose heart, you b@stard. Not you. Of all the idiots out there waiting to manage a club, you are one of the few with the right combination of character, intelligence and heart. If you decide to give up on this, I will personally ensure a swift kick is delivered to your backside."

                        "Always the sweet talker, eh?"

"Who me? I'm right as sunshine, I am."

                        Mad b@stard.

                        ...

"Yeah, hi. Give me a lamb pasanda, chicken tikka masala, two kheema naans... uh, Liam, what else?"

"Hold on, mate. Getting a call. Yeah, hi, who's there? Oh, Nick. New number is it? Good to hear from you. What's that? Yeah, he is. He is. Uh huh. This Friday is good. Outside the stadium at 2 pm? We'll see you there."

                        "Who the hell was that?"

"Your bloody saving grace. Now get me a pineapple raita."

                        ...

"So you're dragging me along on a road trip, but you're not going to tell me where we're going?"

                        "Indi."

                        "Yeah?"

                        "Do you like me?"

                        "What?"

                        "Just give me an answer."

                        "Yeah, I like you."

                        "You trust me?"

                        "Of course."

"Well then, shut up and get in the bloody motor!"

                        ...

"So while we might not have a trophy cabinet as big as Arsenal or Manchester United, we are very much a historic side with plenty to offer. I hope this tour has given you a brief idea of what we're about."

"It has, Mr. Bell. I have to say, I've honestly been floored by the magnitude of this place. And your hospitality has just made it all even more enjoyable."

"Well, I'm glad you like it, Mr. Blue. This could potentially be your home, if you want it to be."

"Is that what I think it is?"

"It could be. I've heard enough today to be sufficiently impressed, and I will be passing on my recommendations to the rest of the board. Suffice it to say that should they consider my thoughts, and they usually do, there could be a formal offer within a few weeks."

                        "That would be... incredible."

                        ...

                        "So, happy?"

"Am I? It's perfect for me, isn't it?"

"Best part of my job, seeing you happy. That and my commission."

"Cheeky sod. Honestly, though, Liam. I owe you. Cheers, mate."

"My pleasure. Now call room service. I'm famished."

                        ...

                        "Hello, Mr. Blue?"

"Yes, may I ask who's speaking."

"My name is Charles Wynter. I represent Mr. Bell's organisation. I've been authorised to open negotiations with you and your representative. If you check your e-mail, you'll see a formal offer from the club."

"Just one second, Mr. Wynter. Yes, I do have the offer."

"Excellent. The board would like your contract to be sorted as soon as possible. I'll be sending you the address to my office. Would you be so kind as to meet me there at 3 pm tomorrow? Mr. Bell will be present, along with the rest of the club's directors."

"Uh, just one second, please. Liam, they want to meet tomorrow at 3 pm to sort out the deal."

"Blimey, looks like they really want you. You game?"

                        "I want this."

                        "Then go ahead."

"Mr. Wynter, my agent and I will see you tomorrow."

"Fantastic. Get a good night's rest, Mr. Blue. You likely won't have many after tomorrow."

                        ...

"So that's essentially how it'll work. This operational model has been used before to great effect. It ensures continuity in all aspects of the club. To make this happen, we're building a new football campus: training, research, analysis, development, recruitment, recovery, assistance, medical attention. It will all be available in one place."

"So, pretty much a replica of the Southampton model?"

"Yes, they were the inspiration for it."

                        "What's my role?"

"Nobody will interfere in tactics and team selection. In terms of training, games, or anything related to the playing squad, you are the absolute boss. Not even the chairman will question you, unless of course you are doing something blatantly unacceptable."

                        "And transfers?"

"Your targets will be considered. In fact, your say in the matter will be significant. However, squad auditing and analysis will be a combined effort. I will be involved, as will our director of football and head of recruitment. Your scouts must also have their say."

"It sounds ideal. I'm excited to be part of this."

"Great. Then why don't I show you to your office while Liam and Charles discuss the terms of your contract?"

                        "Lead the way."

I can't believe it. After all the rejections and uninteresting jobs, I finally found something that fits. Oh, how it fits.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen of the press. Let's get straight to the matter at hand. On behalf of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, it's my pleasure to announce that we have signed Indi Blue as head coach of the first team on a five-year contract. Indi is a young, talented coach with ample experience and many years ahead of him. Those of us involved with Sheffield Wednesday are optimistic that he can help us achieve our goals."

"I'm honoured and privileged to be getting my first chance as head coach of a club with one as illustrious and storied as the Wednesday. To echo Mr. Bell's sentiments, I'm looking to draw on my past experiences to help this club get to where it needs to be. Let's not mince words: we are looking to get promoted to the Premier League and stay there. It won't be easy, but I am confident that it is achievable."

"Indi, you have a number of respectable campaigns to your name with Brighton, though only as assistant coach. Being manager is a completely different game, one you're not familiar with. Does that worry you?"

                          Deaf c*nt.

"Mr. Bell has already pointed out that I'm not assuming the duties of a manager, but as head coach. You're right, though. The managerial aspect is one I have witnessed firsthand, though I've never been in the hot seat. However, coaching is something I have plenty of experience with, and it's something I excel in. I'm not worried. Quite contrary, I'm eager to prove myself."

                          That'll shut you up, idiot.

"Indi, are you confident about promotion this season?"

"To be honest, I've not had much of a chance to get acquainted with the club beyond the initial paperwork. Everything's been business documentation and getting settled. Let me get back to you on that once I've had some time with my players."

Dodged that one. Press officer looks chuffed.

"You seemed a natural fit to take over Brighton after Oscar Garcia decided to resign. Why didn't you?"

"Well, that's something you'll need to ask the people at Brighton & Hove Albion."

Bet they give you a dodgy answer and ask you to become an intern.

                          .....

"I think that went quite, well. What say, Carmen?"

"Not bad your first presser, boss. Though in the future, you need to be slightly less antagonistic towards James Baker from The Tribune."

                          "Which one was he?"

"Guy who asked about Garcia and Brighton. He's always been one of our strongest, most objective backers."

"Got it. I'll ring him to apologise."

"That would be a good idea."

                          "Indi! There's my boy!"

                          "Oi, Liam. How's it going?"

"Lovely, son. Listen, I just wanted to drop by and say good luck. You all sorted, right? Got your mobile connections and cars, flat is in order and all?"

"Yeah, only thing left to be sorted is the housekeeper. Frank said he'd look into it and have someone by the end of the week."

"Tidy. And how you holding up?"

                          "About what?"

                          "Come on, mate. Angela?"

"What are you gonna do, mate? I didn't think she'd split up because I wanted to move north, but hey. Some people are attached to their lives. I guess being 50 miles away from London was one thing, but to move up Yorkshire was just too much. It's okay. I'm fine, and I've got work to dive into and keep myself busy with."

"Yeah, that's the spirit. Okay, I'm off. You need anything, give me a ring."

                          "Will do, mate. Cheers."

                          .....

                          "Blimey. What's going on, then?"

"You have... three... new messages. First message..."

"BEEP. Hey, lad, it's dad. Just wanted to let you know that mum and I are proud of you. It's the kind of job you always knew you could get, and now you have something to show for all your years of graft. I know you'll be a smashing success. We love you, mate."

                          "Second message..."

"BEEP. Hey, boss. Frank here. Listen, I've got your car sorted. Just about to leave the dealership now, and I'm heading to get the accessories fitted. I'll see you at your place tonight, around 7. Cheers."

                          "Third message..."

"BEEP. Hey, Indi. It's Angie. Look, I just wanted to say..."

                          "Message deleted."

Fat chance. Nobody and nothing is going to distract me. I'm leaving it all behind, everything. If you haven't stuck by through the tough times, you're surely not welcome when I finally have some success. I have a job to do, and that's to make Sheffield Wednesday the best damn football club in the world. And nothing's going to get in my way.

Wow. That's all I can say. These two (and the earlier ones, too) were amazingly written and they were very interesting to read. I'm glad that you didn't pick a Premier League club because now we will enjoy your writing for a longer time. I really, really wish that you continue to write in this style.

Also, would you mind if I tried doing something similar for my updates? If it's fine I'll try doing something like this for the transfers in January and for the return to Verona.
