I have always liked writing stories (one of them featured an Italian mafia haha) and other texts in school. I think it's also good that you, Jamie and Tex are sticking to to "old-school way" because now we have mixture of everything. Man, this thread is amazing! When I joined it I couldn't have even imagined it becoming what it is now.
Me, Tex and Chico flying the flag for the old. Damn youngsters with their hip new style! Us 3 old boys will stick with our recaps. Back in our day, that was the cool thing to do :P

No, seriously, I agree with you. I'm glad there is the mixture of styles. If everyone has the same way, it becomes a bit boring but everyone has their own identity with their own styles.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Time to catch up on some careers before I post my Squad Review.

Rabbit: First off Alcorcon; A really good month in league play. Lopez, Correa and Farago are running the show in terms of your attacking play. A shame to lose to Arsenal but they are a good side and I still fancy you to get out of the group. Good to see you opening up a 6 point lead at the top of the table. I really hope Courtois' injury doesn't derail the team. A bit disappointing with Argentina seeing you slip down to 3rd but you qualified which is the main thing!

Now Dagenham; A rough start with that loss to Fulham but the rest of the month was very good especially that 1-0 win against Bayern! Locadia has finally decided to pick his form up and very good news to see Reyna back. He had an instant impact!

BiloxiSmitty: Good to see it's started! As others have said Valencia have a decent squad with good potential but also has some work needed. A brilliant looking destruction of Malaga! Word of advice, maybe use a smaller crest?

Tex: Gatt went for a good bit of money so I suppose you couldn't turn it down. You've brought in some depth for RB too with Brosinski and RM with the Pre-Contract of Jantscher and the loan of Green. I'm sure they'll do well for you! (Jantscher when he joins next season.)

Cabee: Some games are tight and others you score for fun! Sinclair had a great month in front of goal! You have opened up a massive lead at the top of the table! I hope you can win the J. Paint Trophy also!

Simp: Tough loss against Juve to open the month but they are a good team so no shame in that. You picked it up towards the end of the month and I hope that you can get into the Semis of the Europa League next month! Choupo-Moting has been in great form making up for Dybala's disappointing month. It's looking really tight at the top of the table so it should be an exciting next few months!

Cruzerr: A really rough month you had there, even rougher than January. Very surprising loss against Cardiff. A good win in the Champions League to end the month thanks again to Welbeck and Ozil. A bit like real life now in seeing that Mourinho has a 7 point lead!

Jamie: I see you prioritized the Champions League over the FA Cup. Why on earth would you do that?!?!?! (JK haha ) A good win over Dortmund though! Very good to see you overcome Schalke as well and reach then FINAL! I wish you the best of luck against Barca! It should be an exciting end to the season!

        FC St. Pauli

        STP - van Nieff 40'
        MOTM: Lacen

After St. Pauli failed to clear a corner, Caldirola collected the ball and played it over to Lacen who struck it home. Borsinksi was brought down outside of the box and van Nieff stepped up to expertly convert on the free kick chance off the crossbar and in from 22 yards out. Garcia took advantage of hesitiation from Rakovsky to collect a ball and beat him to it for the goal. Tah missed a tackled allowing Lacen through on goal to finish easily on the near post.

        FC St. Pauli 3 - 1899 Hoffenheim 1
        STP - Khedira 5', Çiftçi 43', 64'
        HOF - Elyounoussi 10'
        MOTM: Çiftçi

Çiftçi took the ball down the right side of the goal before sending a cross to the middle that Khedira was able to head into the top left corner. Elyounoussi received the ball outside of the box and turned to avoid a tackle before blasting a right footed shot into the top right corner. Khedira played the ball to Çiftçi who reversed directions before jumping over a tackle and finishing past the keeper. Werner played Çiftçi down the right side of the box who avoided a tackle from behind and then beat the keeper to secure his brace for the night.

FC St. Pauli 2 - FC Koln 2
        STP - van Nieff 35', Çiftçi 77'
        KOE - Risse 33', Helmes 58'
        MOTM: Helmes

Van Nieff lose his man in the box as Risse got behind him to receive the ball and slot it inside the near post. After Werner was brought down outside the box, van Nieff lined up over the ball and placed the free kick into the top right corner. Helmes made a run into a gap in the defense on the right side of the box and got the ball before hitting it into the top right corner. Werner sent a corner kick into the box and Çiftçi was able to hold his man on his back and rise up to win the header and place it into the goal for the equalizer.

St. Pauli Player of the Month

        Nadir Çiftçi

Nadir Çiftçi reminded the fans that he his the talisman for the club with his 3 goal performance in 3 matches this month. He was the difference maker against Hoffenheim taking part in all 3 goals, and scored the goal that secured the draw against Koln.

        Press Conference
Q: A less than idea month with a loss to Werder Bremen and a draw against Koln. Are you disappointed in the performance of your squad?

A: It is extremely disappointing to drop points this month, especially in matches that should have been winnable. We didn't take care of business and now we have to hope it doesn't hurt us.

Q: Next month looks to be a tough one, you have league matches against Bayern Munich, Bayern Leverkusen, and a local derby against Hamburger SV. Each team has given you trouble in the past. What do you need to do in order to ensure you take points from these matches?

A: This is the big reason why it was disappointing to drop so many points this month. We should have been much better, but now we have to go out there and be our best in each of these to ensure it won't come back to haunt us. We are capable of winning these though, we just have to stay focused.

Q: Outside of league play, you also have the quarter final of the Deutscher Pokal against VFR Aalen, and both legs of Europa League play against St. Etienne. How confident are you that St. Pauli can advance in both competitions?

A: We have a great chance in my opinion. It will be tough to manage the amount of fixtures this month, with 4 league matches, 2 Europa League matches, and a Deutscher Pokal match. That is up to me though to make sure that everyone is rested, and we are able to play a squad that is good enough to win in each match.

The defense not so much, seeing as you were the team that received the most goals in the top 8, but those 92 goals catapulted your goal difference to allow you to win the league. Looking forward to seeing your Champions League run next season.
Thanks! I'm really looking forward to the Champions League! It'll be a bigger challenge competing against those better quality teams in Europe. My attack was amazing! Bony being a massive part in that. I think he contributed close to 50 of all my goals this season with all his goals and assists. I'm looking to sure up my defense for the new season to try and keep more clean sheets.

No wonder you kind of gave up hope until the trophy presentation started! Unreal figures from Bony. You'll have a task turning down the massive (and I mean massive) offers that will surely come your way from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester United, and so on and so forth.
Thanks! City are extremely hard to play against. They dominated the attempts but just couldn't bag a goal more than once. It was nerve wrecking to say the least. It was a very tight finish to the league alright. It gave me incredible satisfaction coming out on top in the end though! Bony is definitely not going anywhere!

Time to aim for doing the same but with the Champions League instead!

I really tried to make it work with Wimbledon since it was perfect for my creative wingers and overlapping full backs, but I failed. I ended up going with a 4-2-2-2 which I ended that career with. However, this was on 14 before player instructions were introduced. Now I am inclined to give it another go in the future since you brought up your use of custom instructions. Makes me wonder how we ever played without the player instructions option! Glad you've found a formation that works for you, and good to hear that Mackay-Steven continues to cut inside even though he's told to stay wide. Some may call that being tactically indisciplined but hey, if it works it's best to not say anything. Let him do his thing haha. As for Osasuna, I was also very surprised to defeat Napoli but even more surprised when I kept a clean sheet against Atletico. I was able to own their 4-2-2-2 really made them feel weak, but in the final stages of the match they changed to a flat 4-3-3 and that's when they began showing the damage they can really do. I knew I would lose the midfield battle when I saw them make that change given the much stronger players they have in midfield compared to mine. Fortunately I was able to hold them just enough for the final whistle.
I've been rolling with a 4-4-2 Holding and it works really well for me with the players I've got. I always seem to do better with 2 Strikers up top so I try to use a pair when I can. I want to try and get Sigurdsson involved this year though but I don't know how I could get 2 CDM's, 2 Strikers, 2 Wide Players and a CAM all in one team. Haha. Time for some tinkering me thinks!

A bit of a mix! Can't move on from the old but don't want to miss out on the new. Caught between 2 minds! Haha.

An ok month you had there. A tough way to open it with a loss but Çiftçi turned it on this month earning you 4 points and pushing ye up to 4th. I hope he can keep the form going during the 2nd half of the season! Next month looks like a slog with the fixtures. Hopefully you can pull out wins against Bayern, Leverkusen and St. Etienne.

                TOON TO THE TOP
                SEASON 3
                PS4

                Match 35

                Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
A drab match in which neither side could really break through the defence. We stifled the creativity of Willian and Oscar while the were able to keep Bony at bay, something that destroyed us.

                Match 36

                Newcastle 4-0 Spurs
                Barkley 12
                Barkley 42
                Bony 63
                Boateng 82

That's more like it. An absolutely excellent result. Barkley opened the scoring, curling in from the edge of the box after Bony knocked it back to him while shielding the ball from the defender. Barkley then made it 2, beating his man to strike into the bottom corner. In the second half, Walker was beaten down the right hand side and Schurrle whipped in for Bony to head into the top corner. Boateng headed in to complete the rout from a corner, finding the to corner after out-jumping Fazio.

                Match 37

                Newcastle - Stoke
This match, if we win this, we win the league. If Stoke lose this, they are relegated. Stoke dominated the match, controlling the play but they were unable to break down the defence for the majority of the match. Darlow commanded his area, playing ahead of contract rebel Begovic in act of spite by the manager. In the 45th minute, the ball was played through and curled into the top corner. The only goal of the game.
                Spoiler

                Match 38

                Newcastle 3-1 Reading
                Davies 5
                Bony 9
                Bony 79
                Cummings 85 (OG)

The final match of the season. Davies opened the scoring for Reading, firing in after capitalising on Darlow's bad distribution. However, Bony equalised with a diving header from Kampl's floated cross. Bony then gave us the lead late on, smashing into the bottom corner on the half volley after a corner was blocked to deny Coloccini. Cummings diverted Kampl's effort into his own net to make sure of the victory for Newcastle. Retiring captain Fabricio Coloccini able to lift the league title one last time.

                Champions League Final

                Barcelona - Newcastle
0' KICK OFF. And in the teams is possibly one of the ballsiest moves in a European final, Karl Darlow starting in goal ahead of goalkeeper of the season Asmir Begovic.
8' Darlow makes an excellent save to deny Messi
14' Schurrle curls over the bar from 20 yards
22' Schurrle straight at keeper from the same distance

                81' Kampl denied by Bravo
                90' Alba puts wide
90' GOAL. LUIS SUAREZ! The Uruguayan curls into the top corner after dispossessing Colo.

                  The Return
Stephen A. Smith has been named the new manager of Southampton F.C. This is a shock move for him, quitting his job at ESPN First Take and coming to England to become a football manager. More to come.

You have to start somewhere. That's my motto with this career, not sure how long I'll do it, this is just a CM to get me back used to posting CM's and just in general playing them. It's been a while. The reason I chose Southampton is because I wanted to start with a BPL team, and if you look at the real life table, Southampton have just been shocking. I'll see if I can come anywhere even close to that. As far as posting goes, I think I will borrow some things I see along the thread to try to make my posts better, as you all have been posting amazingly. In this forum's 961 pages, it has come a long way. Almost to 1K.

                    FIFA 15 - Season 3

                    Die Freibeuter der Liga

                    February 2017

                    Deutscher Pokal Quarter Final
                    FC St. Pauli 0 (3) - VFR Aalen 0 (0)
                    MOTM: Fejzic

After a scoreless full time and extra time went by, the match was decided in the ensuing penalty shootout. Michal Mak converted first, followed by Green and then Gießelmann. The real hero was Stanek on goal. He completely shut out Aalen, saving all 3 penalty attempts to advance St. Pauli to the semi-final.

SC Freiburg 1 - FC St. Pauli 3
                    SCF - Osvaldo 61'
                    STP - Rubin 4', Çiftçi 53', Werner 71'
                    MOTM: Werner

Storm played Werner through on the left side of the goal who then found Rubin in the middle for the strike to the right side of the goal. Storm attacked down the right wing and played a low cross into the box that Çiftçi was in place to tap in to double the lead. Osvaldo pulled one back with a great shot from just outside the box that settled in the top left corner. Çiftçi found Werner on the left side of the goal who then took his time to square up and fire it past the keeper to the right post.

FC St. Pauli 2 - FC Bayern 2
STP - Michal Mak 11' (Pen), Çiftçi 54'
                    FCB - Ribery 72', Dembele 87'
                    MOTM: Çiftçi

Michal Mak converted from the penalty spot into the top left corner to put St. Pauli ahead early. Khedira found Çiftçi up the middle for the easy finish to double the lead. Ribery dribbled into the box and cut it to his left foot before firing to the top left corner and cut the lead in half. Sobiech missed a clearance and the ball bounced to Dembele who fired inside the near post for the equalizer late in the match.

Eruopa League Round of 32 Leg 1
FC St. Pauli 2 - St. Etienne 1
                    STP - Green 42', Rubin 87'
                    STE - Erdinc 13'
                    MOTM: Werner

St Etienne opened it after Bomeheuer and Brosinski both missed a clearance and Erdinc pounced on the ball and hit it to the right post. St. Pauli found the equalizer as Werner hit a corner into the box and found Green's head who directed it into the top right corner. With time winding down Çiftçi and Rubin pushed back on the counter and played the ball back and forth until Çiftçi got free down the left side of the goal and slid it across the box for Rubin to tap in for a 1 goal lead going into the 2nd leg.

Hamburger SV 4 - FC St. Pauli 5
                    HSV - Steinmann 12', Muller 47', van der Vaart 72', 82'
                    STP - Çiftçi 5', 45', 49', 69', Hallberg 90'
                    MOTM: Storm

Hallberg found Rubin at the top of the box who laid it off for Çiftçi to strike home. Steinmann equalized after getting free on the left side and placing it into the top left corner. Storm then found Çiftçi up the middle for an easy tap in past the keeper. Muller equalized with a tap in after Beister beat his man and sent in a low cross across the goal. Çiftçi answered back after Storm made his way down the right wing and played the ball across the box for the tap in. Storm then sent in a corner that Çiftçi was able to rise up and head inside the near post for his 4th goal of the night. Van der Vaart then perfectly struck a free kick into the top left corner to pull one back. He equalized 10 minutes later timing his run perfect on a ball over the top and sliding it past the keeper. With time almost out Mateusz Mak found Hallberg up the middle for a left footed strike to the far post to win a wild and crazy night of scoring.

Europa League Round of 32 Leg 2
                    St. Etienne 0 (1) - FC St. Pauli 1 (3)
                    STP - Storm 90'
                    MOTM: Stanek

In a match that was all about the superb form of St. Pauli keeper Jendrich Stanek, a clean sheet was well deserved. Turning in an impressive 10 saves in goal, St. Pauli are advancing to the round of 16. Storm officially sealed the deal late with a 90th minute goal after Green played him through on the left side of the box. The whistle blew just seconds after the ensuing kick off to put the match in the books.

FC St. Pauli 2 - Bayer Leverkusen 1
                    STP - Storm 37', Çiftçi 90'
                    B04 - Son 75'
                    MOTM: Rakovsky

Storm dribbled in from the right wing towards the center before cutting it back to his right and hitting it strong off the keeper's hands and in. Alex Sandro sent a cross in from the left wing that Tah completely misplayed and Son was able to get his head on it and place it in the top left corner. With time running out the ball was played ahead to Michal Mak to counter down the left wing. He attacked the box before lofting a pass over the defense to the far post that Çiftçi tapped in for the winner.

St. Pauli Player of the Month

                    Nadir Çiftçi

Nadir Çiftçi takes home a second straight player of the month award, and it was hardly in doubt. His outstanding 7 goals, including his 4 goal performance against cross town rivals Hamburger SV were heavily needed this month. He also added a couple of assists to his tally to show how dominant he truly was this month.

                    Press Conference
Q: A very impressive month, winning all matches aside from the draw against Bayern. What can you tell us about the how your team performed this month?

A: I am happy, although it could have been better. The draw against Bayern was one we should have won being up 2-0. Also the defense was horrid against Hamburger SV, and we were lucky Çiftçi played out of his mind. Other than those two though, our defense was actually in some of the greatest form I've seen from us this season. I am hoping we can take that and continue it into next month and beyond.

Q: You have advanced in the Duetscher Pokal to the semi-final against Schalke. You have seemed to have Schalke's number this season, do you see your club moving on to the final?

A: Each match is something new, and how we have played against Schalke this season, doesn't mean it will translate to this match. We want to have a chance to defend the cup, and to do that we have to take this match serious and take care of business. I think we are certainly good enough to beat them, but they are also good enough to beat us on certain nights as well.

Q: Another competition you are moving on in would be the Europa League after taking care of St. Etienne. You will now face Roesnborg in the round of 16. Norwegian club's aren't exactly known for their top tier talent, and you should go in as the favorites. How does it feel to be favored for once?

A: Picking favorites in a competition like this is just silly. To have gotten to this point, they have had to beat some quality teams. Anyone left can win it all, and while I think that can be St. Pauli, there's no guarantees.

Congrats on the League and Champions League double! I bet the final was sickening for them to equalize in the last minute. But at least it wasn't the winner and you still had extra time in which you did the same with my man BONY! Looking forward to next season and seeing who you bring in. BTW you said that Spurs were from Merseyside in that headline at the bottom.

What a month where you rightfully should've won all your matches but for that late equalizer for Bayern from Dembele. That Hamburger match lokked like a thriller! Çiftçi was outstanding again this month. Good luck in the Cup Semis and the Europa League last 16!

                                Hellas Verona

                                April 2016

                                Hellas Verona 0 - 2 Fiorentina
                                Iakovenko 18', 65'

"We were terrible today but Fiorentina got very lucky. They had two shots and both of them went in. We had eight shots in the game but our strikers wasted way too many chances. This loss means that Juve are three points ahead of us and I think we won't be able to win the league anymore."

                                Quarter Final, 2nd leg
                                Olympiakos (1) 0 - 2 (4) Hellas Verona
                                Milik 45', Dybala 59'

"And we are through to the semi finals! The boys put in a good performance away from home and everyone had a good game. I'm glad that Paulo (Dybala) scored again. Hopefully he can keep it up."

                                Inter Milan 0 - 3 Hellas Verona
                                Junuzovic 29', Dybala 79', Guarin 86' OG

"We were amazing in this game! The attackers had a good game and the defenders were solid at the back. Inter didn't have many chances and we controlled the game. Now we have a day to rest before facing AC Milan at home."

                                Hellas Verona 2 - 1 AC Milan
                                Choupo-Moting 28', pen, 45' pen
                                Nocerino 90'

"We had another good game against the other Milan side but I would've preferred to win the game with beautiful goals, not penalties. The referee was fair and Eric (Choupo-Moting) scored the penalties nicely. Nocerino's goal was an amazing long shot from over 30 yards out and it impressed me."

                                Torino 1 - 2 Hellas Verona
                                Quagliarella 15'
                                Valoti 3', Longo 52'

                                Simulated.

                                Semi Final, 1st leg
                                CSKA Moscow 2 - 2 Hellas Verona
                                Tosic 11', Eremenko 45'
                                Choupo-Moting 44', Florenzi 88'

"CSKA are a good team and the game was played in the cold Russian weather. I think an away draw is a good result. Bad defending lead to both of their goals but we did a good job to come back. Paulo (Dybala) was horrific today. He needs to find his old form."

                                Hellas Verona 3 - 2 Pescara
                                Longo 21', Milik 47', 84'
                                Maniero 37', Caprari 54'

                                Simulated.

                                Semi Final, 2nd leg

                                Spoiler

"Yes! We have reached our first final in many, many years! Our home ground was once again a tough place for the opposition. Eric (Choupo-Moting) did an amazing job to score a hattrick and to secure our place in the final. We will play against Sevilla or Saint Etienne depending on tomorrow's score and I think we can beat both teams."

                                Player of the Month

                                Kaan Ayhan

Surprisingly the player of the month award doesn't go to Eric Choupo-Moting even though he scored six goals in April. Choupo-Moting would've gotten it if he hadn't wasted so many chances. The young Ayhan played very well in every game he played, no matter if he was used as a centre half or as the holding midfielder in a diamond.

                                Hot

                                Kaan Ayhan

He was the player of the month thanks to his great playing in the defensive part of the pitch.

                                Eric Choupo-Moting

The Cameroonian was the main goal threat in April and he scored six goals in seven appearances and the goals were always important. He combined well with Arkadiusz Milik who replaced Paulo Dybala in the starting eleven.

                                Zlatko Junuzovic

Hellas Verona changed their old-school 4-4-2 formation to a modern diamond in which Junuzovic got a more offensive role. The 28-year-old did a good job in it and he created a few goals.

                                Not

                                Paulo Dybala

The Argentinian continued to under-perform in April. He did find the back of the net twice but in other games he wasn't able to score from lots of chances to save his life. Dybala also lost his place as the league top scorer thanks to his bad form.

                                Eric Dier

The centre back of the team had another poor month in April. He made some defensive errors and he lost his place in the starting eleven to Jose Gimenez. Right now Hellas Verona are unsure about buying him after the season.

                                Romulo

Romulo had a defensive role in the 4-4-2 and he was meant to have the same role in the diamond. Sadly he failed to adjust to the new formation and he didn't do a good job. He didn't pass that well and he wasn't physical and defensive enough.
