Some great transfers that can really improve and make an impact in the team straight away. Whilst I was reading about your transfers, I was most impressed with the acquisitions of Heung-Min Son and Hakan Calhanoglu. They've really have stood out for you in their first month too! (especially Heung-Min Son!)

You've had an amazing first month and you only dropped two points against Mainz which gives you (unsuprisingly) first place in the league table.

You've got a great squad and you can hopefully push for total domination this season and the seasons to come!

Wexford Youths (Season 3) (FIFA 17)

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Chico - You are having some poor luck with injuries. Luckily they are usually pretty short ones. You have been in great form recently! Arsenal, Barca, Sevilla... and you are second in the league. Great season so far and you could even snatch the title if Barca slip. Also, I just went on a little trip to pages 526-528. That's where we had our little Godfather reference conversation

Cabee - Only one loss and it was against Liverpool? That's a very good month! You're on tracks to European competitions right now and I'm still surprised about how well you are doing.

Jamie - What a season! The domestic treble is a huge achievement! The last league games must've been very intense with that little gap between you and City. Some players that I'll suggest are Varane, Otamendi, Iñigo Martinez, Eric Dier, Samuel Umtiti, Kaan Ayhan, Illarramendi and Mason.

Keano - Sami freaking Khedira scored against you?!?! I'm very, very disappointed. An up and down month but you're still sitting in sixth pretty comfortably. The Ecuador draw with Colombia didn't look that good. Then to Portsmouth. You're doing very well in the league but it's a shame that QPR beat you in the cup.Taylor is amazing for you.

Tex - Pretty much a perfect month. Beating Barca, Atleti and Zenit is very nicely done and you're very close to RM in the league! You could even win the league.

Cruzerr - Damn, that's a lot of transfers. At least you're making the squad more British. The results weren't that good but you probably need to get used to the new players.

Thanks for the suggestions. Otamendi was my number 1 target but Valencia wont let him go for any less than £40 million, which is way too much. I think I'll go for Mason and Martinez from those suggestions and I'll have to take a look at Ayhan.

Sorry if I have been lax in updating my Valencia CM. There were 3 factors.
          1. Real life work has been getting in the way.
          2. I've noticed that my settings were set lower than I thought, so I have been testing out a new set of sliders to give me a little more challenge.
          3. I started playing GTA V again. Forgot how much I love that game.
My teams: Cowboys, Knicks, Braves, Arsenal FC, Nittany Lions

I know, I know, how did that happen? My defence isn't strong enough. A couple more seasons and it should be built up a lot more. I'll take even a lower midtable finish since we don't have a great squad to be honest. That Ecuador game was one of those really frustrating ones where you can't score no matter what. Still its 4 points and 2 clean sheets so I'm happy with that.

QPR simply outclassed us with several good chances. In all fairness they should have won by more. Taylor has been a beast up front and as I've said before he had a good combination of pace and power which I love.

              January:

              Barclays Premier League Match:

              Everton 2 – Exeter City 1

              EXE – Konate (11’)
After a goal scoring drought of nine games, Konate finally gets a goal! Séamus Coleman wins the ball from Appiah on the right and passes back to Phil Jagielka who takes a shaky touch before being dispossessed by Konate who then bombs forward, uncontested. He gets into the box before smashing the ball with his left foot just inside the keeper’s near post.

              EVE – Zapata (49’)
The Everton squad cannot be tackled as the game re-starts and a one-two with Ross Barkley allows James McCarthy to be free on the left and whip the ball into Duván Zapata who rises above Ryan Inniss to head the ball into the top right corner.

              EVE – Zapata (68’)
James McCarthy slots the ball through the Exeter City defence and to the back post where Duván Zapata smashes the ball past Mabil and into the back of the net from a very tight angle.

              F.A Cup Round 3 Match:

              Cardiff City 0 – Exeter City 3

              EXE – Konate (3’)
The Cardiff City defence look a little rough as Robert Bauer sprints down the right and cuts the ball back to Inters Konate who’s rocketing shot hits the underside of the crossbar and over the line.

              EXE – Konate (32’)
Van Nieff slots the ball through the defence and to the feet of Jason Banton on the right. He makes his way into the box and then chips it to the back post where Konate can easily nod home.

              EXE – Sercombe (49’)
Appiah takes a corner from the right. He passes it to Inniss on the corner of the box who then delivers a strong, low ball into the near post where Liam Sercombe gets his toe to it. David Marshall makes a great save to get down low in a flash but the rebound falls straight to Sercombe again who then toe pokes it into the roof of the net.

              Our Best Performer: Inters Konate

              Barclays Premier League Match:

              Exeter City 2 – QPR 1

              EXE Allassani (26’)
Jason Banton skips into the middle from the wing where he unleashes a powerful shot along the ground. The keeper gets down low to get a hand to it but the ball pings out into the box where Allassani lifts the ball over the helpless keeper and into the roof of the net.

              EXE –
              Bauer (68’)
A corner from the left is cleared away to the edge of the box where Robert Bauer controls the ball before having an attempt on goal. The ball heads to the left post but a massive deflection by Steven Caulker makes the ball fly past the off-balance keeper and into the opposite corner.

              QPR –
              Leeuwenburgh (77’)
Young, Lars Leeuwenburgh tackles Liam Sercombe deep in the Exeter half and Lars sprints forward. Ryan Inniss cannot keep up but Anthony Acre Jr. manages to block the QPR man’s shot but all it does is roll back to him for and easy finish past Sylvain Gbohouo at the near post.

Our Best Performer: Anthony Acre Jr.

              Barclays Premier League Match:

              Exeter City 1 – Sunderland 0

              EXE Appiah (62’)
Reece Brown slips the ball through the Sunderland back line and onto the foot of Appiah who dribbles past the wide frame of Costel Pantillimon to easily guide the ball across the line.

              Our Best Performer: Kwabena Appiah

              Barclays Premier League Match:

              Southampton 1 – Exeter City 2

              EXE Appiah (20’)
Allassani chases the backtracking Jack Stephens, who’s eventually tackled. The ball trickles out into space where Appiah can run onto it and place the ball with his weaker left foot, into the bottom left corner.

              SOU – Rodriguez (56’)
Gastón Ramirez gets the ball on the right and whips a lovely ball into the near post where Jay Rodriguez heads the ball with the very top of his head so that it rises over Sylvain Gbohouo and dips at the last moment so that it goes into the far corner from a tight angle.

              EXE –Appiah (82’)
Appiah gets his fifteenth in the league as Jason Banton sprints down the right and delivers a hard, low ball which zips across the ground and into the penalty area where Appiah gets the necessary touch on it to just guide it into the far corner.

              Our Best Performer: Kwabena Appiah

              F.A Cup Round 4 Match:

              Everton 2 – Exeter City 0

              EVE Zapata (4’)
López Ruano clears the ball badly and the ball falls straight to Duván Zapata who flicks it past a challenge by Ryan Inniss before beating Gbohouo at his near post.

              EVE –Barkley (14’)
Reece Brown is tackled in his own half and the ball finds its way to Ross Barkley who smashes it from outside the area and into the top left corner.
It’s the first time that a team has got a clean sheet against Exeter since mid October.

              Youth Academy:

Aaron Davis (United States) 15 years old 65-69 OVR 87-93 POT
              - This 5’10 right-footer looks to be an amazing striker. His best attributes are his heading accuracy, shot power, finishing and ball control. This physically strong youth player should be the real deal once he joins the ranks of the senior team.

Danny Winnard (United States) 16 years old 50-54 OVR 81-87 POT
              - Danny Winnard is a midfielder playmaker who’s left-footed and stands at 6’0. He’s looking at being a very well-rounded player with a range of passing stats, good vision and formidable long shots.

              Manager’s Thoughts:

I am not very happy with the board. They sold Glen Mabil for one point three million! I got an offer a year and a half ago that wanted him for that much! I could have easily have got around five million for him if the board hadn’t stepped in. I’m not really sure what to think now. I’ve got this team through the leagues and I’ve stuck with them despite getting big offers from the top clubs that offer me so much more money but I’ve rejected them. Doesn’t that show how dedicated I am to the team? So if someone’s not happy, I would let them go but the board thinks that I would stab a player in the back so they step in without any knowledge on the matter and they sell him for a fifth of what he’s actually worth. Now that just dumps me in a position where I have to find a goalkeeper that is a hundred percent ready for the Premier League which is difficult due to my transfer network scouts losing their files on the players that they had scouted for me. So I pretty much had to shoot blindly into the distance and that’s how I found Jonathan Bond, who makes his debut in the Chelsea game in a couple of day’s time. If this happens again, the board better not get involved or it could be a deal breaker.

I’ve also been knocked out of the F.A Cup which is a real shame because the players and the fans deserve at least to go to Wembley but we could not give that to them. This does give us a chance to focus on the Premier League more and it allows the players to get some rest between games.

Talking on resting players, we only have three games next month that are far apart so there should be no reason for fatigue. Despite of this, we do have three very difficult fixtures up against Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle so we will have to plan accordingly and try to hit them hard.

              February’s Games:

              Chelsea (H)
              Spurs (A)
              Newcastle (H)

              * Denotes a cup game

Decided to enable the first transfer window, and it has made this career a lot more enjoyable than the stock team, which was lacking some very crucial components. Doubt I would have been able to get to January given how wonky that team was playing, but man... this side I have put together is FUN. I'll post in greater detail tomorrow. Fans of MLS and El Tri (Chico, that means you) keep your eyes open.

Great signings as usual and great month! You only received one goal all month which is impressive. Looking forward to seeing more of how Son is doing because so far it sounds like he's living up to the Korean Ronaldo name. I had the pleasure of using him in 13 when he was still at Hamburg, however I forced myself to trade him to Leverkusen since that had become his current team IRL. The champions league group you're in sounds very competitive, with Madrid and Benfica being your main obstacles. Your squad is looking really good though so I have faith you'll survive the group! Especially considering your team plays best against big teams

That's where we had our little Godfather reference conversation
These injuries are killing me, but at the same time it keeps me on my toes. What I hate on my disc is that when the injury happens I don't get to see what it is during the match so I have to wait until the end of the match to get the report. I'm seriously considering renting another copy of 15 and seeing if there is any other differences. I'm starting to wonder if I just got a glitched disc.
Ah yes, the Godfather quotes. One of my personal highlights of this forum. What's impressive is that we were able to keep it going for about 2 pages lol

Cabee Looking at your squad I can't believe that that's the team that has had you at the top of the premier league and on LEGENDARY! It has to be your tactics. I ran that very same formation wih Wimbledon in League 1 and that's the formation that qualified me to the Europa League. As for the board, we League 2 folk feel your pain. In every League 2 career the board is your greatest enemy. I didn't make peace with mine until about my 6th or 7th season :0

Jagger: You should open up the 'Possession' tactic details next time you're in your CM. I used to use it all the time as well until recently that I checked the numbers. I don't use it anymore and I've found my team plays a lot better without it.

Started season 4 of Swansea today. Have about £30million to spend but no idea who as I like my squad as it is and want to try and give my youth players chances. I have nearly 10-12 guys promoted now which I'm loving! Preseason update tomorrow!

I hate to put a dampener on your thoughts but i'm actually on World Class. I did once say that I was thinking about changing to legendary but i decided against it and will wait until my next CM to try it out

I am soooo fustrated with the board but i hear what you're saying, i'll just have to wait and proove myself even more.

Chico Excellent work disposing of Arsenal in the Europa League. I thought you might be done when they got those 3 away goals, but you pulled it out at the Emirates. Then you go and beat Barcelona on top of that. Palacios and Guillermo were really good this update for you. The Sevilla result was nice to see as well. It's real tight at the top of the La Liga table, but good to see you holding off Real Madrid and putting pressure on Barca. I'm liking the international management too. That was a real solid win against your rivals the USA.

Simppu I really like the transfer moves. A lot of quality German talent, supplemented by Son and Calhanoglu. Kalou still has his touch from last season where he scored those incredible 43 goals. The new signings seem to be paying off with Son getting player of the month honors and Calhanoglu also scoring against Dortmund. Your Champions League group looks manageable, so I'm excited to see that get under way. It's early in the season, but second is nice and I know you have no fear of Bayern anymore, so I'm interested to see if Hertha can defend their Bundesliga title.

10cabee Man Zapata of Everton really killed you in those 2 matches. Sad to see you out of the FA Cup. Still, good to see you in 4th place and Appiah leading the Premier League in goals. Sorry to hear about the board selling Mabil on the cheap to Aston Villa, that's brutal! February looks tough. Hopefully you can find your way through it with some results.

Cruzerr Love the English emphasis in this Manchester City manager mode. I'm doing something very similar, and it definitely adds another layer to the experience. Good to see you already taking home hardware with the Community Shield, but the rest of the month was a bit of a struggle. Sterling seems to be paying off immediately though, so hopefully some of the other new guys like Wilshere and Barkley can start contributing too.

texasbum Unbeaten in 18, wow! Great results against Barcelona and Atletico. With this form you just may be able to take La Liga. Hopefully you can keep it up. Still a lot of football to be played though, so it's best to just take it one match at a time. Zenit really gave you a scare in the Europa League, but nice that you advanced on away goals. Manchester United will definitely be a challenge. Sorry to see Guardado injured again. Definitely frustrating to lose such a quality player.

jamiec Domestic treble, nice! That was certainly thrilling with you edging out Manchester City. A four way tie for the Golden Boot is pretty crazy, but good to see Sturridge get in there and Mingolet take home the Golden Glove. Looking forward to what comes next.

Keano You are starting to gain some separation in League 2. Ryan Taylor was on fire with those 6 goals. Tough loss to QPR in the Capital One Cup, but still a solid effort against a Premier League side. Hopefully you can meet your expectations for the month of October and take 12 of 15 points. I believe you can, so looking forward to what unfolds.

History: FC Terek Grozny was founded in 1946 as Dynamo Grozny, changed its name in 1948 to Neftyanik, and finally settled on Terek in 1958. Hailing from the capital of the Chechen Republic in the North Caucasus of southern Russia, the club was disbanded in the 1990s due to the war in Chechnya and once re-established, did not begin playing matches again in Grozny until 2008. Terek worked it's way up through the ranks of the Russian football leagues and in 2004 won the Russian First Division to gain promotion to the Russian Football Premier League. In that same year, Terek won the Russian Cup to qualify for the UEFA Europa League, the club's first and only venture into European football. Terek was eliminated from Europe by Swiss side FC Basel, and also were relegated back to the Russian First Division following a 16th place RFPL finish in 2005. 2007 saw Terek finish 2nd in the Russian First Division to again gain promotion to the RFPL where Terek has been ever since. Since returning to the Russian top flight, Terek's best league finish has been 8th place in 2012-13.

Domestic Players (Russian Rule): To comply with RFPL standards on Russian players, Terek must have at least 5 Russians on the pitch at all times.

Transfer Targets: Terek will focus primarily on bringing in Russian talent in order to be compliant with RFPL standards on domestic players. The club will look for up-and-coming Russian youngsters, as well as established players that have fallen out of favor at bigger Russian clubs. On the secondary market, Terek will look at players from former Soviet countries, Eastern Europe, and South America as these players typically fill RFPL rosters.

                                Transfers

Diego Colotto signed for Toulouse for £1.2M, Felipe Mattioni and Juan Rafael Fuentes joined Granada for a total of £1.8M, Christian Stuani moved to Celta for £1.4M, Lanzarote signed for Almeria for £1.8M, David Lopez moved to Real Sociedad for £2.6M, and Abraham Gonzalez joined Levante for £1.2M. After the board had taken their cut of the £10M we had raised, we were left with a total of £13M and more than £150K in wages.

I brought in Yassine Chikhaoui from Zurich by swapping Sergio Garcia, who was valued on paper at £4M. Rodri's contract with Barcelona B was expiring, so we picked him up for £2.8M. Jose Juan Vazquez signed for us from Club Leon in Mexico for £4M, and Osvaldo Alonso joined from Sounders in the MLS for £4.5M. On deadline day, we brought in Frank Bagnack from Barcelona B for £1.2M before making a pair of loan signings in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Guillermo from Athletic Club.

Released from the club were Aday, Rober, and a number of other academy players who would never realistically make the first team. I am also yet to begin urgent contract negotiations with Victor Sanchez, Raul Rodriguez, and club captain Kiko Casilla. But we now have a 23-man squad that should be capable of achieving slightly more than our target of a mid-table finish.

                                Preseason

                                Espanyol 1-0 Empoli
                                6' Caicedo

Not much to write home about. We scored early, bossed possession, and had a late scramble to keep our slender lead. It wasn't the best performance, so I played around with the tactics to create a more cohesive shape during the build-up phase.

                                Saint-Etienne 0-2 Espanyol
                                18' Vazquez
                                31' Chikhaoui

Our opponents fielded a weakened side, allowing our two of our new boys to score a couple of crackers. Vazquez put in an inch-perfect pass that Caicedo rocketed towards goal, but their keeper punched the ball back to Vazquez, who put his foot through it from the edge of the box. Chikhaoui tricked two defenders with a pirouette before blasting a shot into the top corner.

                                Espanyol 3-1 Frankfurt
                                2' Valdez
                                6' Montañes
                                11' Montañes
                                24' Bifouma

We conceded early but came back with three goals in the first half, so there are signs of improvement. Now that the tactics are sorted, we have been using different formations. The custom 4-3-1-2 seems unfit for La Liga, or at least for the players I have right now. Today's choice was a 4-3-3 false nine with Montañes filling the role, picking up a brace and assist for his efforts.

                                August

                                Almeria 0-1 Espanyol
                                38' Victor Sanchez

Using a 4-2-3-1 with three attacking midfielders, we managed to hold 67% possession. But despite taking a first-half lead, Almeria were all over us in the second period. Casilla was our trump card, making 11 saves to keep a clean sheet and deny Almeria the equaliser. Caicedo made a poor case for starting our next game, having failed to make any sort of impact since his goal against Empoli.

                                Espanyol 5-1 Sevilla
                                24' Chikhaoui
                                30' Chikhaoui
                                36' Salva Sevilla
                                39' Bacca
                                56' Bifouma
                                75' Chikhaoui

I moved Chikhaoui from wide right to centre forward, bringing in Bifouma to replace him on the wing. Our man scored a hat-trick to repay my faith, one of the goals being a stunner hit from distance with the outside of his right boot. Salva Sevilla was handed a start following a failed attempt to farm him out on loan, scoring a goal before injuring his rib and being ruled out for up to 2 weeks.
