Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

    March 2018 - Season 4
    FIFA 15 (PS4)

    CA Osasuna (B-Team) 0 - 0 Granada CF
A goalless match, but not a boring one. Granada's goalkeeper Roberto was given the MOTM award for making a total of 8 saves and ultimately being the main reason Osasuna were unable to score. Granada were confident that they could beat the home side, and in the final ten minutes of the match they went all-out attack with one of their CBs pushing forward to play as ST. This was Osasuna's perfect opportunity to hit on a counter attack, but they simply weren't able to get the ball moving fast enough when they would steal the ball away.

Champions League - Round of 16 (2nd Leg)
    Chelsea 2 (3) - (4) 3 CA Osasuna
    CHE: Benzema 10' Hazard 15'
    OSA: Guillermo 33' 45' Palacios 90'
Chavez fielded the same 4-2-3-1 that saw much success in the first leg, with Palacios on the bench and Davila at CAM, but the Spaniards did not look nearly as focused as they were in the first leg and Chelsea capitalized on it. Only ten minutes into the match, Eden Hazard humiliated youth graduate Romeu on the wing by dribbling past him with skill, and then crossing the ball into the box aiming for Karim Benzema. Benzema was tightly marked by Raul Albentosa, who is taller than the Frenchman, but Albentosa didn't even jump and allowed Benzema to head the ball into the net from a short distance and put Chelsea ahead on aggregate. Osasuna looked really bad on that goal, but things would only get worse. Just five minutes after the goal Willian dribbled past Grimaldo on the right wing, Chelsea again showing superiority on the wings, and after cutting into the box he put in a ground cross towards the edge of the box where Eden Hazard met it and powered the ball into the back of the net. 2-0 for Chelsea, 3-1 on aggregate and also an away goal for the English from the first leg. Chelsea had a comfortable lead and Osasuna seemed really out of it. Immediately after the second goal Osasuna switched formations to a 4-3-3 Attack, with Davila shifting wide to RW and Roberto Torres moving in to play CAM. The formation change led to improvement, but Osasuna still couldn't put together a dangerous play. That finally changed in the 33rd minute as Sergi Darder passed the ball over to the main man Guillermo, who dribbled into the box with the ball close to his feet. He managed to cut in to his right foot, and took a shot on goal that had little to no power behind it but it was struck low. Courtois stretched his foot to reach it but it was too late! The ball had already gotten past him and went into the net! Osasuna were still alive!

With only one more goal needed to tie the aggregate and put the away goals rule in their favor, Osasuna did not take their foot off the gas and continued to press high. Roberto Torres was in the spot light now, as he proved dangerous when he looked up with the ball at his feet. The captain even managed to hit the crossbar with a shot from outside the box which surprised us all since his body positioning wasn't comfortable enough for a shot. Right before halftime, Torres received the ball at the edge of the box and put a soft through ball into the box. Guillermo beat Martinez in the race for the ball and he took a powerful first time shot strong enough to beat even Courtois' reflexes. Osasuna had equalized the match!

We went into halftime with an incredible comeback on our hands as Osasuna had climbed back from a 2-0 deficit and now had the away goal advantage, but will they be able to hold onto it? The closer we got to the end of the match the bigger Rodriguez became, as he instantly became the key figure in the match when Chelsea went all out for the goal that would put them through. Seeing Rodriguez become the most important player on the field for Osasuna was worrying, because any time the goalkeeper is the main man it means the rest of the team isn't doing their part. We finally reached the 90th minute and the only thing keeping Osasuna with a foot in the next round was Rodriguez's amazing goalkeeping. Chavez's bench was tense as they checked the clock hoping the referee would blow the whistle soon, but right when Chelsea were at their most dangerous second half sub Federico Palacios launched a counter attack with Roberto Torres using a wall pass that would leave Palacios completely through on goal. Palacios sprinted into the box with no mark and powered the ball close to the near post and past Courtois. Osasuna had taken the lead for the first time in the two legs and had virtually secured their pass to the next round!

An unbelievable match even more so when the referee blew the whistle and Osasuna celebrated at the Stamford Bridge. Thibaut Courtois, arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the world, had a disappointing night in which he was only able to make 2 saves. On the other side of the field Jose Antonio Rodriguez made 8 saves and although Guillermo was MOTM, the Osasuna fans voted Rodriguez as the MOTM on the club website.

    Elche CF 0 - 3 CA Osasuna
    OSA: Guillermo 20' Torres 44' Sisi 90'
Three years ago when Osasuna were first promoted to La Liga under Chavez, Elche welcomed them with a dominant 3-0 scoreline. Today was a completely different story though as it was Los Rojillos controlled the match from start to finish and showed it on the scoreline. For this match Chavez came out using a 4-3-3 Holding with Roberto Torres moving in to LCM and Federico Palacios playing RW. The formation changed proved to be a great decision from manager Chavez as Osasuna's midfield trio Torres, Darder, and Campaña were having a ball in the middle of the pitch frequently finding spaces to put each other forward. Twenty minutes into the match, Jose Campaña sent Guillermo a through ball from midfield as Guillermo was making a run into the box, and Guillermo powered a shot into the net with so much force that it caused him to slip and fall. Despite Guillermo's slip the ball still beat the keeper and put Osasuna ahead! The away crowd was making quite some noise as their main striker had not only gave them the partial lead, but was also adding to his Golden Boot run. Osasuna continued to control the match and worry the home side. Almost right before halftime, Federico Palacios made a dashing run down the right wing past his marker and continued to sprint down the right side of the box. He went all the way to the end line and crossed the ball into the box where Roberto Torres was sprinting in. Torres wasn't fast enough to meet the cross, but he jumped up in the air with his leg extended and volleyed the ball into the back of the net! An unbelievable goal that went opposite of the goalkeeper's dive!

The match went into halftime with Osasuna clearly the better side. The Basques continued to dominate the pitch in the second half but Elche's defending improved and they prevented Osasuna from scoring again. Their defense was doing great work, but their attack was not able to get past Osasuna's defensive half. Chavez's substitutions in the second half included Davila for Palacios (RW) and Sisi for Lopez (LW), and both of these players would partner up to conclude Osasuna's dominant performance. In injury time, Ulises Davila received the ball on the right wing and sent a lobbed through ball far to the left wing where Sisi brought the ball down with great control, sprinted into the box, and took a well placed shot with his inside foot that made it past the keeper, hit the post, and went in!

As mentioned, a dominant win that reflects really well on Chavez's decision to change formation from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3.

    Champions League Update
After the shocking elimination of Chelsea, Osasuna are moving on to the Quarter Finals in their first ever Champions League showing. As we get closer to the Final the competition becomes even more exciting as the strongest teams push through. There is no "easy" opponent anymore, and Osasuna will now face another huge challenge as they have been drawn to face the Italian Giants Juventus, another club known for their amazing defensive work. Prior to the Quarter Finals, the competition was dominated by England as they had the most teams in the knockout round, but surprisingly they were all eliminated in the Round of 16. Arsenal was eliminated by Portugal's Sporting CP, Tottenham were eliminated by the French side PSG, Chelsea were eliminated by Osasuna, and Manchester City were eliminated by Italy's Juventus. Spain is now the dominant country in the competition with the most representatives: Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Osasuna.

    CA Osasuna (B-Team) 2 - 2 RCD Espanyol
    ESP: Tejera 23' Stuani 82'
    OSA: Palacios 67' Kodro 85'
Chavez tried to experiment with the B-Team, and he was punished for it. Ulises Davila usually plays ST in the B-Team's 4-2-3-1, but tonight it was Federico Palacios who came out as the striker. Palacios really struggled as the lone man up front and Osasuna were quite harmless in attack. Twenty-three minutes into the match a free kick was awarded to Espanyol after Vinuesa Ramos committed a foul near the right corner of the box and Espanyol's Tejera positioned the ball to take it. Tejera has the reputation of scoring on Osasuna's Rodriguez through free kicks frequently, but now it is Riesgo who plays between the sticks for the B-Team. Tejera wasn't intimidated though, and he placed his shot right into the top right corner just barely missing the woodwork! A beautiful goal that made us wonder if Rodriguez really was weak at blocking free kicks or if it has just been that Tejera is a phenomenal free kick taker all along. Osasuna continued to be weak in attack up until the 67th minute where Luis Martinez sent a corner kick to the near post and Federico Palacios, perhaps the shortest man in the box, actually reached it and headed it into the net!

Just the confidence boost Palacios needed but Chavez was still unhappy with the Spaniard's performance. Kenan Kodro was brought into the match in the second half, a completely different striker than Palacios, to replace Vinuesa Ramos while Palacios was dropped to CAM and Martinez to RDM. The team looked much better, but a terrible mistake from Asier Riesgo allowed Espanyol to take the lead. A long ball had been sent from midfield to the edge of the box and although there were Osasuna defenders holding their mark, Riesgo still decided to come off his line. Of course, he didn't get to the ball on time and Stuani was able to head the ball into the open net without much problem. Osasuna reacted just three minutes later though as Martinez passed the ball to Kodro inside the box and the 6'4" striker took a low shot that just sneaked into the net from under the goalkeeper.

Despite suffering the majority of the match, Osasuna were able to save a point this week. Espanyol's captain Hector Moreno looked really good on the field and looks ready for the upcoming World Cup with Mexico.

    UEFA Champions League
    CA Osasuna vs Juventus
A difficult test for the current Europa League title holders; hosting la Juve at El Sadar. Juventus is one of the biggest clubs from Italy and they count on a solid defense and dangerous attack. Global legend Gianluigi Buffon is no longer the man in goal, but Sirigu has been a fine replacement. Their big summer signing, Javier Hernandez, has also had an amazing season with the Italians and is currently the team's top scorer in the Champions League with 3 Goals. Juventus come out with a 4-4-2 Diamond Narrow, while Osasuna step onto the field with the 4-3-3 Holding used against Elche with the only difference being Davila replacing Palacios at RW.
    Spoiler

    Valencia CF 1 - 2 CA Osasuna (B-Team)
    VAL: Feghouli 31'
OSA: Palacios 34' Martinez PEN 75'
Osasuna's B-Team continues to struggle without their star man Ulises Davila and Simppu's Valencia made them suffer. Feghouli opened the scoreline in the 31st minute by catching Osasuna's defense off guard and heading the ball into the net. The Basques responded right away though with Sisi dribbling up the right wing and sending an early cross to which Palacios was able to get to using his speed and equalized the match.

Simppu was notably furious on the sidelines as he couldn't believe his defenders let somebody as short as Palacios beat them to an aerial ball. The match went into halftime with Valencia as the better side. Osasuna's attacks were more than easy for Valencia's defense to handle, and despite his goal Federico Palacios was starting to become the villain of the match for Osasuna. That all changed in the 73rd minute though, as Palacios got past his marker with a nutmeg but was taken down by the defender Valiente. The referee immediately called the foul and awarded Osasuna a penalty. Luis Martinez stepped up to take the penalty and he placed his shot to the right at mid-height. Valencia's goalkeeper dove the right way and even managed to touch the ball with his fingertips, but the ball still made it through and Osasuna were in the lead!

Needless to say, Simppu's face was red with anger on the sidelines and he immediately called his backup goalkeeper to warm up but alas, he was out of substitutions. The B-Team were just barely able to hang on to the lead to the final whistle and although many will consider it undeserved, they have taken the three points.

CA Osasuna Player of The Month

    LCM - Roberto Torres (c) (Spain) (75 OVR 29yrs)
With this month's formation change, Roberto Torres has switched from playing RM to LCM, becoming the center of attack. Torres hasn't played in this position since Chavez's first season, but he needed no time to readjust to it and quickly became the danger man in midfield. With him in the middle Osasuna are much more dangerous on the ball now. In the past he's always been the top scorer behind Guillermo, but this season he hasn't been able to find the net as often at RM. From what we've seen of him at LCM so far, he will surely be back to his scoring ways.

    B-Team In Need
Ulises Davila has had a wonderful season with the B-Team, becoming the side's top scorer and consistently being in such a great form that has now led him to the First Team. A great accomplishment for the former Chelsea midfielder, but unfortunately his teammates in the B-Team have been unable to adjust to life without him. Palacios has struggled to fill in Davila's shoes and as a result the B-Team has struggled finding the net. Fans are now wondering if the B-Team will be able to keep up with league play while the First Team try to make history in the club's first ever Champions League.

Jose Garcia Called Back From Loan

Center attacking midfielder Jose Garcia, 21, has been called back from his loan at RCD Mallorca. Garcia made 3 appearances in the Copa Del Rey and also scored a goal for Mallorca. An official statement as to why he's been called back to Osasuna has not been released, but it is believed Chavez was unhappy with his game development at Mallorca.

    Conclusion
I finally made up my mind and tried out the 4-3-3 Holding. So far I've really enjoyed the formation and I think we'll keep it. This is what how the team shapes up

The CBs are left with no instructions. Both fullbacks are instructed to always overlap. Darder (CDM) is instructed to stay back while attacking and cut passing lanes. Campaña (RCM) is instructed to stay at the edge of the box for crosses. Torres (LCM) was adjusted forward and converted to CAM. He is instructed to get into the box for crosses. Davila (RW) is instructed to cut inside and get in behind. Lopez (LW) is instructed to stay wide and get in behind. Guillermo (ST) is instructed to stay central and press the back line.

I'm having a tough time with the B-Team right now. Palacios is struggling and it's really hard to score goals right now. Next month I might have to make some adjustments although ideally I wouldn't want to relegate anybody to the reserves since they had all been playing really well before.

We're getting closer and closer to my favorite time of the year: May 1st. I cannot wait to see who I can promote, with my main youth player being our physically strong striker Santana. The B-Team could really use a striker and I think he will fit in perfectly. There are several other players I want to promote as well though so the B-Team may have a lot of changes next season. Our first game next month will be the second leg against Juventus at Juventus Stadium. Until then
    Thanks For Reading!

As far as money, here is how it has stacked up in all competitions so far:

      J. Paint Trophy - £6,239

      Capital One Cup - £13,258

      F.A. Cup - £298,349

That first play was with the grounded cross. It's one of my favorite ways to score is to dribble down to the end line and try to pick out a player with it. That play in particular lined up really well since I saw him move towards the inside and sent the ball there rather than just across the face. The strike afterwards was perfectly inside the far post too.

I'm glad that you like the highlights! I thought it would be a good idea and I'm glad that some of you guys have liked it.

I think the FA Cup alone has already doubled your starting budget! And I saw that you're in the semis too so you must have gotten a nice paycheck from that! Congrats by the way. Really hope you can shock the country and make it to the final! Has that happened before IRL by the way? A League 2 club in the FA Cup final? That'd be amazing. Hope you still have your notes from the Aston match in the Capital One so that you can go into the match with an estimated game plan. Good luck!

Chico Great job against Chelsea! Luckily they scored early on and you had a lot of time to equalise. A draw against Juve is also a good result and I believe in your chances in the second leg. The B team struggled a bit and the Espanyol draw was a poor one. You could still win the league, though! Also, I love what you did with the Valencia game, especially in the part after the penalty

To find the most players with a $750 wage you're gonna have to stick with players from League 1 and 2. I'm not sure how much the players from the Irish leagues get paid but all of the players in league 2 will be getting $750 and most of league 1 as well. Without GTN scouts you won't be able to see their value/wage but a little trick is that during the transfer window click on a player and go to "approach for loan" and the next screen will show you their wage even if you have not scouted them. After that you can either send the loan offer, or just back out and try getting them on a permanent or future deal. Check if John Egan has a $750 wage. From what I can remember he was one of my Irish players at AFC Wimbledon and he did well. At Wimbledon I only signed UK players. It seems like you have set yourself up for failure, but that's what this career is all about! Getting knocked down and kicked by the Irish FA with nowhere to go and being reborn in the English system!

Thanks! I think I'll keep it Irish now! Oh yeah, I'm only gonna get people from league 2 & 1 to make sure that they have 750 wages and also to not get anyone who's a bit unrealistic to join the club. If I like the look of some Irish players in the Irish league, I might even go and take some of their players too! Oh yeah, I always do that loan trick to see how much they ask for!

I'll have a look at John Egan. I swear his name is familiar. What position is he? I haven't given it much thought but I also know that Graham Cummins is Irish and only asks for £750! (i think)

Sounds good! Egan is a CB I believe. I haven't checked him out in this game but like I said I had him in 14 and he was good. Not the best but good enough. He should be a great fit for your lower league side though! I think he's in League one so hopefully they don't ask for too much. Cummins would be an ideal player for your squad he should be easy to get!

I can't believe how lucky I've gotten with the draws to be honest. Leading up to the semi-finals I have faced only just 1 Premier League team, and that was Burnley who has 1 win in the Premier League in this career. And now the second one I face is Aston Villa, who isn't exactly a world-beater. Although I did get knocked out of the J. Paint Trophy by Chesterfield, so you never know what will happen.

                  LEVERKUSEN

                  NOVEMBER

                  LEVERKUSEN 4-1 BORUSSIA M’GLADBACH
The stakes were high in this local derby, but it was Leverkusen who came out flying high with a dominant display, sealed by a hat trick from Steffan Kiessling. The German striker scored his first goals since his return from a long absence, with Daniel Opare also scoring shortly after half time. Peniel Mlapa’s late strike was nothing more than a consolation, and had no impact on the jubilant home fans.

                  FRANKFURT 1-1 LEVERKUSEN
In a warm up for the upcoming cup meeting between the sides, Frankfurt showed their capabilities at dealing with the bigger sides in an impressive performance against the league leaders. They took the lead shortly after the interval, Inui capitalising on a defensive mishap from Daniel Opare. Leverkusen knocked at the door thereafter, and were finally rewarded when Christian Tello nodded in Cahlanoglu’s cross 3 minutes from time, although the Turk appeared to be offside before playing the ball into the box.

                  LEVERKUSEN 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
After a pulsating 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, Leverkusen slipped to defeat to United at the BayArena in a vital Group G clash. The only goal was scored by Dutchman Daley Blind, taking the Red Devils top of the group with 1 game to play. Leverkusen are dependent on United slipping up against Twente in order to finish top of the group, and need a draw themselves in Lyon to secure qualification to the next round.

                  LEVERKUSEN 1-1 HOFFENHEIM
After a tough defeat in midweek, Leverkusen struggled to recover in a disappointing performance and result at home to Hoffenheim. Kevin Volland, a former player under Wetson in his days at Freiburg gave the visitors the lead just after half time, and they were seemingly in control when Stefan Kiessling equalised for the hosts with 20 minutes to go. But the league leaders’ lack of impetus was consistent, resulting in more dropped points at home.

                  Monthly reviews:
Overall I would class November and December as relatively successful. It was a critical time of the season in the build up to the winter break, with Champions League qualification for the Round 16 secured, and a handy league position going into the new year. The goals have been evenly spread to be honest, although the injuries have highlighted key areas to me in which I will need strengthen, partly in January, but more so at the end of the season if I continue to stay at Leverkusen.

On that point, I am half-looking for a move away. The career just isn’t ticking all the boxes at the moment, however after January, if I make some good transfers then I may well change my mind. I have browsed around in the job section, but it seems impossible to be accepted anywhere which sucks, and I rarely get offered another job in Fifa. But I don’t want to start another career and lose all the progress thus far.

Thanks. Araujo is a clinical striker. I'm hoping to purchase him from Boca Juniors, but his price may be too high. I feel he's a player that can be serviceable even at the La Liga level. I would recommend you going for him.

Well, a perfect start to the season with two big 3-0 wins that surely have the press placing you as the team to watch out for this season. Shame to see you will have a player out for 4 months but at least he wasn't a starter. How old was that player? I hope he wasn't too old because I hate it when a player begins to decrease in stats while he's out for an injury. Watch out for Barcelona B. They may be at the bottom of the table but they have some great individual talent that can cause damage.

Thanks. Fernandez is 28. Not too old, but not that young. Like you said, he wasn't a starter, but the injury will test my depth. I know from my scouting that Barcelona B has many good players. I even tried to get Halilovic in my Rubin career. I'm glad you like the tables too. Weird about the phone thing though.

I've decided not to do Hertha. Instead I'm going to do my home town team, Preston. I thought it would be more of a challenge and more enjoyable. Sorry if you was looking forward to the Hertha one. Hopefully Preston will be better. I'll keep you all up to date!

                          Match 10

                          Newcastle 3-4 Liverpool
                          Aarons 15
                          Balotelli 45
                          Cisse 45 (PEN)
                          Sturridge 56
                          Gerrard 81
                          Perez 84
                          Henderson 90

What a game! The North-Eastern side took the lead after Mignolet flapped at the ball from a corner, leaving young Jamaican winger Rolando Aarons able to nod home easily. Balotelli equalised with a stunning strike into the top corner from distance. Cisse regained Newcastle's lead soon after from the penalty spot after Perez was bundled over by Clyne. We equalised again, Sturridge heading in with a diving header on the rebound of Sterling's shot. Elliot was forced into a good save by Balotelli as we piled on the pressure. We took the lead when Gerrard fired in excellently from the edge of the D, finding the back of the net with power. Newcastle equalised through Perez curling in after capitalising on a mistake but there was more to come. We won the match in stoppage time, Henderson firing in on the turn, hard and low beyond the keeper.

                          Champions League Match 4

                          Liverpool 2-3 FC Schalke 04
                          Lambert 4
                          Huntelaar 16
                          Borini 27
                          Huntelaar 41
                          Allen 51 (OG)

Lambert opened the scoring in this game with a perfectly placed free kick into the bottom corner. The German side equalised soon after, Huntelaar firing in at the near post from a perfect low cross by Meyer. We took the lead again through Borini, curling in beyond Fahrmann after being played through to be left one-on-one with the keeper. Schalke equalised again through the Netherlands international striker, this time smashing into the top corner from the edge of the box after Draxler cut the ball back. They got the winner when Allen bundled the ball into his own net from a powerful, low cross. We desperately searched for an equaliser but couldn't break the defence down.

                          Match 11

                          Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea
                          Costa 27
This was quite a dull game between two of the top teams in this league. We had the first chance of the game, Balotelli forcing Courtois into a good save. Costa gave Chelsea the lead, prodding in off the post from the edge of the box, as Mignolet unwisely ran out and was beaten with ease. Coutinho forced another good save and Sturridge made the Belgian keeper make an unbelievable reaction save in the last minute as we just couldn't find the back of the net.

                          Match 12

                          Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool
                          Jedinak 81
Crystal Palace got a deserved win in this match as we just didn't turn up. They missed multiple great chances but continually tore apart our defence. Castro missed a great chance when one-on-one, firing well over the bar. Borini forced a decent save but Palace got a deserved win when Jedinak stroked in after the ball was played across by Castro.

                          Champions League Match 5

                          Liverpool 1-0 SL Benfica
                          Balotelli 85
This was search an undeserved win, Benfica were all over us. Their first chance of the game came to Amorim, his header being tipped over the bar with a great diving save by Mignolet. Mignolet made another brilliant save to deny Jonas, making a wonderful diving save to just tip the ball wide. Lima then dragged his shot wide when left in open space from the resulting corner. The Brazilian striker missed another great chance, hitting the post from point blank range, the goal gaping, as the ball was played to him at the far post. We finally got our first chance of the game, Henderson whipping a perfect curling cross in for Balotelli to head into the back of the net. Unfortunately, Sterling broke his metatarsal and will be out for up to 8 weeks.

                          Match 13

                          Liverpool 2-0 Stoke
                          Sinclair 68
                          Sinclair 88

Stoke had the first opportunity of the game, a great one-two resulting in Crouch firing the ball high and wide. Odemwingie gave us a scare soon after, firing powerfully just wide. At half time we brought on 18 year old Jerome Sinclair, who would prove to be the difference. He received the ball out wide and cut inside to get into the box to let fly. His shot took a slight deflection to find the back of the net. He then almost found a second, hitting the post on the half volley. He got his second from a brilliant counter attack, a wonderful through ball to Borini who played the ball square to Sinclair who calmly curled in.
