    Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    I'm just glad when it's all said and done that Lord Bendtner is gone from Arsenal. Signing with Wolfsburg on the free transfer where they said they "Lowered the standards" They were also quoted "We dared to touch the top shelf of players" As well as "It's empty now so we need to look a bit further down." Um... what does Lord Bendtner have to say to that?

        ROAD TO RECOVERY
        SEASON 3

        Match 35

        Coventry 1-0 QPR
        Moussa 10
        The only goal of the game came when Eccleston's shot thundered off the post but Moussa slid in to convert. We tested Ruddy multiple times throughout the game.

        Match 36

        Coventry 1-1 Middlesbrough
        Gornell 34
        Adomah 37

        Gornell smashed in but Adomah broke down the defence to slot in and get an undeserved draw.

        FA Cup Quarter Final

        Chelsea 0-2 Coventry
        Dagnall 85
        Thomas 90

        What an amazing result. We are going to Wembley! Dagnall opened the scoring, curling in from close range and Thomas scored a stunner, smashing in off the post from distance.

        Match 37

        Charlton 2-2 Coventry
        Morrison 34
        Dagnall 41
        Dagnall 47
        Cousins 83

        Simmed.

        Match 38

        Coventry 3-0 Wolves
        McGeouch 34
        Eccleston 42
        Dagnall 45

        McGeouch got his first goal for the club since resigning on loan, squeezing the ball under the keeper from close range. Eccleston made it 2 with a deflected volley before Dagnall chipped the keeper on the volley for one of the goals of the season so far.

        League Table

        1. Fulham 88
        2. Blackburn 79
        3. QPR 78
        4. Coventry 70
        5. Wigan 67
        6. Reading 62
        -----
        22. Bournemouth 30
        23. Leeds 27
        24. Millwall 21

        Press Conference

        Some good results this month, namely the win against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

        Yes. I did not expect to beat Chelsea, but the way we did was excellent. We set up defensively with the objective to counter attack and it worked.

        Will you be trying to win the Cup now?

        Of course. We are in the semi-finals, it would be stupid not to.

          Better, Best, Basque

          Transfers:

          In:

          -

          Out:

          -

          January

          Athletic Bilbao 4 - 1 Levante, Copa del Rey Round of 16
          Aduriz 23', 81', Beñat 45', 61'
          Ivanschitz 89'

          Levante 2 - 1 Athletic Bilbao (3-5 agg), Copa del Rey Round of 16
          El Zhar 47', Ruben Garcia 65'
          Ros 2'

          Real Sociedad 0 - 2 Athletic Bilbao
          Aduriz 26', 51'

          In the first Basque derby of the season Athletic Bilbao took a clear victory over their rivals, Real Sociedad. Gancherribia's side was far better in every aspect and Aritz Aduriz's two headers secured the three points in the Lions' campaign for a top four finish. Bilbao's centreback pairing San Jose - Laporte continued their great play and Sociedad managed to get only two shots in the whole game.

          Athletic Bilbao 3 - 0 Almeria
          Gurpegi 5', Susaeta 39', Kike Sola 72'

          Sevilla 1 - 2 Athletic Bilbao, Copa del Rey Quarter Final
          Gameiro 12'
          Beñat 59', 83'

          In the sides' second match-up in one month the Basque side came out victorious and they got two important away goals. The game started terribly for Bilbao when Kevin Gameiro slotted a shot past Kepa Arrizabalaga. Athletic Club attacked and did all they could but Sevilla defended well. Gancherribia decided to make a goalkeeper change during halftime which payed off when Ruffier made a great save in the 50th minute to keep the Basque team in the game. Then the goal came. Beñat received the ball on the left edge of the box. He cut in, ran past two defenders and shot a powerful shot to the bottom right corner. About 25 minutes later the midfielder got Bilbao the winner from the rebound after a shot by Aduriz. Bilbao had an advantage going in the second leg.

          Athletic Bilbao 1 - 0 Deportivo
          Ibai Gomez 56'

          Athletic Bilbao 2 - 2 Sevilla (4-3 agg), Copa del Rey Quarter Final
          Muniain 49', Aduriz 90'
          Rabello 17', Vitolo 27'

          Athletic Bilbao came in to the game leading by a goal. Sevilla pushed hard and they managed to equalise on aggregate after the young Bryan Rabello curled in a shot to finish a counter attack. However Bilbao were still going to the semifinals on away goals. That changed ten minutes later when - once again- Sevilla finished succesfully a counter attack. Another youngster, Vitolo, grabbed the goal with a shot which went past badly positioned Ruffier. At that moment the Basques were going out.
          Right after the beginning of the second half Iker Muniain cut in from the left and he curled a ball past Beto giving Bilbao the lead. In the last minute Aritz Aduriz headed the ball in to give Bilbao another goal. The Basque team was in the semi final and the opponent was FC Barcelona. The two teams faced in the cup final 2012 and Barcelona won 3-0 then.

          Eibar 1 - 2 Athletic Bilbao
          Jota 72'
          Ibai Gomez 43', 60'

          FC Barcelona 2 - 1 Athletic Bilbao, Copa del Rey Semi Final
          Tello 58', Rakitic 90'
          Muniain 54'

          Two big teams. Two teams fighting for fourth place. A team from Catalonia and a team from Basque country. A cup semi final. Everything was ready for a great game of football on the full Camp Nou. And the game started.
          Bilbao played well, passing the ball and keeping possession. The first half wasn't anything special. But the second half was something different. Athletic took the lead after a counter attack which ended in Muniain's powerful shot. Only four minutes later Cristian Tello got in the box and he shot a weak shot from left to right with the outside of the boot. The ball hit the post and bounced in the net. 1-1. Barcelona kept on pushing and Bilbao's defence wasn't on it's best. Barca managed to hit the post twice and they got the ball in the last minute. Ivan Rakitic received a pass. He dribbled past Laporte and he shot a powerful shot to the near post which went in. The stadium completely exploded and the whole team and bech of Barcelona were celebrating. But Athletic Bilbao had an away goal...

          Thank you for reading the post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback and suggestions are appreciated!

            ROAD TO RECOVERY
            SEASON 3

            Slew 4
            Slew 26
            Sise 31
            Eccleston 44
            Marshall 49

            What an awful result. Slew slotted in after some brilliant play down the wing. He slammed in after intercepting a defensive pass and Sise knocked in from close range. Eccleston headed one back but Marshall headed in to restore the 3 goal lead.

            Match 40

            Coventry 2-2 Leeds
            Eccleston 6
            Austin 23
            Eccleston 55
            McCormack 56

            Simmed.

            Match 41

            Ipswich 1-0 Coventry
            Ebanks-Blake 28
            Not the result we were expecting. We couldn't break them down and Sylvain headed in.

            Match 42

            Coventry 2-1 Fulham
            Campbell 19
            Mitroglou 41
            Azogue 90

            A great result against the league leaders. Campbell turned the defender and smashed in at the near post to give us the lead. Mitroglou headed in an equaliser but Azogue got onto a rebound and knocked in to win it in the last minute.

            FA Cup Semi Final

            Liverpool 0-2 Coventry
            Moussa 72
            Dagnall 86

            We're in the FINAL!! And deservedly. We dominated Liverpool all over the park. Moussa curled in the opener and Dagnall settled it, rounding the keeper and slotting in off the post. Get ready for Manchester United.

            Match 43

            Coventry 3-1 Huddersfield
            Gornell 22
            Vaughan 49
            Azogue 54
            Mkhwanazi 73 (OG)

            Gornell headed in the opener before Vaughan equalised on the rebound. Azogue managed to convert after being tripped, getting up immediately and slotting in. His hard ball in was turned into his own net by Mkhwanazi.

            Match 44

            Leicester 2-2 Coventry
            Nugent 29
            Eccleston 45
            Eccleston 64
            Willie 88

            Nugent converted after McCarthy ran out of his box but was beaten to the ball but Eccleston tackled the defender and smashed in. He gave us the lead, heading in and came within a whisker of completing his hat trick. Willie got the equaliser, beating the defender with tricky footwork before slotting into the bottom corner.

            Match 45

            Coventry 2-1 Nottingham Forest
            Clarke 15
            Aguirre 75
            Dagnall 77

            Simmed.

            Match 46

            Reading 0-0 Coventry
            Such a dull match. Reading dominated and Alex McCarthy kept us in the game.

            Press Conference

            First of all congratulations for reaching the playoffs

            Thank you.

            Nobody expected your side to be in the playoffs at the start of the season. Did you?

            No. I was outspoken at the start of the season of the lack of money and the size of the squad. I said there would be no way we could finish as high as we did last season. Glad to see the lads proved me wrong.

            You also have the FA Cup Final against Manchester United coming up. How important is that?

            It is important but even though the cup would be great, our first trophy since '87, we have to focus on the playoffs. United have basically qualified for Europe already, which means so have we. If we are in this division next season, there will be way too many matches to compete. Promotion first, trophies second.

            You finished the league season with an unbeaten home record. How crucial has that been to your season?

            Very. We made the Sixfields Stadium a fortress and got points there. If we didn't have that home form, we would not be where we are now. I hope we can carry it on next season, especially considering our return to the RICOH.

            You're going back to the RICOH?

            Yes. The owners finally agreed to pay the rent, using money from our success in the Cup to do so.

            You play Wolves in the playoff semi finals. How will you prepare for that?

            As normal, with any other game. Credit to Wolves, we seem to working at the same pace, promoted same season, playoffs same season. Nobody saw them coming. Wigan, Forest and Boro were hanging around there and Wolves just slowly climbed the table.

            Good luck and thank you for your time.

            Thank you, it's been a pleasure

              Europa League:
              Olympiakos 0 - 0 AFC Wimbledon
              A disappointing loss for Wimbledon who needed a win in order to improve their chances of passing the group stage. Jack Midson and Luke James created several chances up front but were not able to finish. This draw leaves Wimbledon 2 points and a lesser goal difference behind Olympiakos and Wolfsburg with only 1 game left to play. Wimbledon will HAVE to get a win vs RB Salzburg and will depend on Olympiakos or Wolfsburg losing in order to pass.

              AFC Wimbledon 3 - 0 Cardiff City
              WIM: Hanson 7' 37' Harvey 82'
              An impressive performance at Kingsmeadow against the Welsh club who are currently in the relegation zone. Chavez faced Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall who is his go to goalkeeper with Scotland. Marshall will no doubt be upset to receive 3 goals from his international manager's club, especially with the press saying that he is one of Scotland's weak points.

              Swansea City 1 - 0 AFC Wimbledon
              SWA: Beric 34'
              Wimbledon came into this match with high hopes after a big win against Cardiff, but Swansea came to avenge their compatriots and took the 3 points. Fans and possibly even players alike will be pointing their fingers at the Dons goalkeeper Ross Worner for Swansea's goal. Beric cut into the box from the left and shot straight at Worner, who dove to his left instead of standing still to block it. Even Beric looked surprised to have scored a goal like that. The Wimbledon captain simply stayed on the ground and shook his head, immediately realizing he had made a terrible mistake that could, and indeed did, cost his team the match.

              Europa League:
              AFC Wimbledon 1 - 0 RB Salzburg
              WIM: Gornell 81'
              Wimbledon NEEDED a win in order to progress in this year's Europa League and you could see the desperation in the team's faces. Salzburg, who had no chance whatsoever of going through the group stage, sat back and did their best to end their streak of 5 defeats in a row. Chavez was frantic on the sidelines as he saw Luke James and Jack Midson create little danger. At halftime Chavez subbed in his star striker Terry Gornell for the 33 year old Jack Midson hoping that Gornell and James could use their speed to get the goal. Finally, 9 minutes before the end of the match, Gornell scored! 17 year old goalkeeper Adam Cowie made some impressive saves before the final whistle and gave Wimbledon the win! The stadium and the bench erupted in celebration! All that was needed now was for someone, anyone, to lose in the Olympiakos - Wolfsburg match. Smiles quickly turned to frowns as the Wimbledon players and fans checked their cellphones and learned that Wolfsburg and Olympiakos had played to a scoreless draw, securing a pass to the next round for both of them, and elimination for Wimbledon.

              AFC Wimbledon 1 - 2 QPR
              QPR: Ambrose 29' Phillips 44'
              WIM: Hanson 37'
              Wimbledon had just been eliminated from Europe and now lost to relegation zoned QPR. Again, Ross Worner had a bad match and didn't make any saves today. Worner has won the Golden Glove award 3 times in a row with Wimbledon, but has been disappointing this season. Could the pressure from the armband be taking his focus away from his game?

              Arsenal 0 - 0 AFC Wimbledon
              A huge surprise, as Wimbledon held Arsenal to a scoreless draw at The Emirates. Actually, it was the other way around, as the Arsenal goalkeeper Fabianski was awarded the Man of The Match award for making 8 very impressive saves in the match. On the other side of the field, Worner was hardly called into action since his defenders completely neutralized Giroud and Özil.

              AFC Wimbledon 2 - 2 Everton
              EVE: Baines 7' Barkley 23'
              WIM: Hanson 9' 58'
              Everton's first goal came from another mistake from Worner who dribbled the ball in his area inviting pressure, and when he finally tried to kick the ball away it rebounded from an Everton player and landed at Baines' feet who simply had to tap it into the empty net. Wimbledon couldn't afford a loss today and were barely able to get a draw thanks to James Hanson, who is the club's joint top scorer with Terry Gornell at 8 goals.

              Notable Youth Academy Players

              Craig May - RB (38-52, 80-86): This 6'5" 16 year old from Scotland is a right back, but due to his defensive mentality and height would be a better fit at centre back.

              Dean Rhodes - LB (52-56, 86-92): Same as above, this 6'6" 15 year old player from Scotland would be a better fit at centre back.

              Mark Watt - GK (51-57, 77-85): This 6'2", 16 year old player from Scotland has been developing really well with the U-17, and should be receiving a senior contract by the end of this season.

              Richard Odhlambo - CM (51-61, 84-94): One of England's biggest promises, this 16 year old could be promoted to the senior squad after he finishes this season with the U-17.

              Scott Moore - CDM (41-45, 79-89): This 15 year old from Scotland will have plenty of opportunities if he's promoted next season because of the position he plays.

              Scott Wilson - ST (53-65, 79-94): This 15 year old from Scotland has been outstanding in front of goal with the U-17 so far, and with Jack Midson retiring this season he could very well receive a call to the senior team once he meets the age requirement. He has been described as being technically gifted.

              "Yeah all good on this end."

              Nice. Nice. Alright then let's get started. "Inconsistent" has been a term frequently used to describe Wimbledon this season. What do you have to say about those remarks?

              "Well if I'm gonna be honest then I'd have to agree. There was a point in the season where we were actually just 3 points away from 6th place, and we lost the match. Now we're in 13th place and 3 points would only take us as high as 11th place. We know we won't be relegated as we were predicted to, but we've been going up and down the mid table. I've been very satisfied with our gameplay, but we just haven't been able to clinch the results."

              I agree one thing you've been consistent with is your gameplay but some mistakes have caused you points. Which brings us to our next subject: Ross Worner. Worner (70) has only 7 clean sheets in 25 matches - all competitions. While on the other hand Adam Cowie (61) has 4 clean sheets in 5 matches, 3 of those being in the Europa League. This kid has Potential To Be Special, will he be given an opportunity to show himself in the BPL and maybe even become the starting goalkeeper?

              "Cowie is a great player but you have to remember he's only 17 years old. Worner may have made a few mistakes here and there but he's an award winning goalkeeper and just needs to refocus. At this moment, Worner is our #1."

              Very well. Next subject, last year your team reached the Europa League semifinals and this season you weren't able to get out of the group stage. Would you consider this performance a failure compared to last year's.

              "It definitely hurt to be eliminated the way we were but I wouldn't call it a failure. The only thing that kept is out was goal differential and we actually finished with more points than many of the other teams that finished 2nd. Unfortunately, only the fans will remember that we were left out by the little detail. Reality is we were eliminated. The reason I don't call it a failure is because it gave is the opportunity to see many players that aren't considered for the starting 11. One example being Cowie (61) and the other being Matthew Saah (61) who did a great job at CDM in all the matches he played."

              For our last subject lets talk about transfers. Are you considering selling Luke James now that more users have also signed him as well as Terry Gornell to their squads?

              "If I'm considering what? James and Gornell are with AFC Wimbledon what do you mean other users have signed them??"

              Fantastic! Moving on. What positions are you planning to reinforce this transfer window?

              "...Okay. Well, we have a very limited budget still so we haven't been able to decide yet where we will reinforce."

              Okay that concludes all of our questions today. Again, thank you for being with us today Mr. Chavez.

              "Always a pleasure. Goodnight everybody."

              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
              AFC Wimbledon will travel to Newcastle to face the Toons in their next league match. Newcastle United have recently parted ways with outstanding manager Jamie who accomplished great things with the club. Their star manager may be gone but he left behind a great set of players who defeated Wimbledon 3-0 earlier this season. That is all from us today. Always a pleasure to report to you with the latest Wimbledon news.
                ROAD TO RECOVERY
                SEASON 3
                Playoff Semi-Final Leg 1
                Wolves 0-2 Coventry
                Caddis 82
                Eccleston 89
                In an even game, Caddis opened the scoring, playing a one-two with Eccleston to break down the wing before drifting into the box to smash home. Eccleston made it 2, heading in on the rebound of Clayton's effort.
                FA Cup Final
                Coventry 0-2 Manchester United
                Doumbia 11
                Mata 56
                We fought them hard, but we couldn't do it. Doumbia rounded the keeper to slot in and Mata headed in to make it 2. Eccleston, Moussa and Clayton forced good saves but we couldn't win.
                Playoff Semi Final Leg 2
                Coventry 2-2 Wolves (4-2 agg)
                Sigurdarson 6
                Evans 41
                Baker 57
                Gornell 81
                Sigurdarson headed in and Evans smashed into the corner to equalise on aggregate. Baker pulled one back and gave us the aggregate lead, smashing in from close range before Gornell headed in Campbell's cross to book our place in the final.
                Playoff Final
                Coventry 1-0 QPR (aet)
                Pugh 116
                Dagnall and Viola had threatened each keeper throughout the match, but there was no beating either, until late on. It was the goal for promotion. A free kick from 40 yards played short to Marc Pugh. He shaped up and struck it, flying from 30 yards into the corner. PROMOTION!!!!
                Press Conference
                Firstly, congratulations on promotion
                Thank you. All the hard work of the season has come together. We prepared well for the match, and we took the victory.
                Yes, and in dramatic fashion
                Yes. Marc shaped up to shoot and I was thinking what is he doing. But then he hit it, it was one of the best strikes I have ever seen and it will go down in the club's history.
                Now, on a lesser note, you failed to overcome Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
                It was a disappointment, but no-one can say we didn't give them a game. They had to defend, but unfortunately their quality was just too much.
                Thanks for reading. The Premier League begins...
                  That is exactly what I thought of when I saw Wolfsburg and Olympiakos tied. I wouldn't mind it if they tied 2-2, but come on 0-0?! Such bull.
                  Man it really is a struggle. From top of the table in the past 3 seasons to having to play each match like it's a cup final. Btw, still waiting on the Dagenham update!
                      I don't have the money to make many. Raiding the Championship and League 1, along with Lower half Premier League substitutes.
                        Just hold off until January when you'll have the prize money from the Europa League group stage. If you pass to the next round you should be getting around 4 million in prize money $D
                            I made a few signings that I think will help me until January. Then I can go use my prize money and get the players I had targeted
                              Man rough going in the Europa League after such a successful run there last season. It may be a blessing in disguise though (other than losing those additional funds) since you are going to be able to focus on the Premier League better, which btw you aren't doing bat in at all. Sure you're not fighting for a European spot right now, but it's still impressive considering it's your first year in the EPL.
