Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Hello, I actually just made an account on here for this forum, and this forum alone. If you couldn't tell by my name, my favorite team are the Gunners. My favorite squad Arsenal was the invincibles (How could they not be?) So, for my career I decided to mix it up. I am going to randomly assign teams to different leagues, so Bayern could be in the A-League while Dortmund is all the way in the Scottish league, or something like that. I'm not sureat team I am going to take yet or what league they will be in, but I am going to try to build a team that sort of represents the Invincibles. Or... that is the beginning goal. Not too sure the targets I have, I guess I'll just go with the flow.

EDIT: The sort of team I am thinking of taking over is a team with a pretty nice budget, but not a very established squad. FC Shakhtar? I'll look around for some other teams as well.

EDIT: Also, the league I go in I would like to be Champions League eligible. Get back to you on this as well.

      Notes

      • Sam Baldock is on 20 goals in 26 games, and Kevin Doyle of Wolves leads the league with 24 in 25. Prolific.

      • Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is on a ridiculous 14 assists from 26 games, almost 7 more than the next best playmaker. Vision.

      • Lalrindika Ralte has 11 goals in the league, with 8 of them in his last 12 games, all starts. Bargain.

      • Judging by the offers on the first day of January, I could get a combined £6 million for Baldock and Emmanuel-Thomas. Jackpot.

      • Form has been trailing off a bit thanks to a recent spate of injuries to Nicky Shorey, Liam Kelly and Brendan Moloney. Misfortune.

      • As of now, I'm not making any signings in January, but I will be chasing a couple of Bosman deals. Thrifty.

        ROAD TO RECOVERY
        SEASON 4

        Transfers IN
        Mark Beevers: £725,000 from Millwall
Scott Dann: £825,000 from Crystal Palace
Barry Bannan: £2.2 million from Crystal Palace

        Transfers OUT
Pedro Azogue: £425,000 to Sheffield Wed.
Nathan Eccleston: £2 million to FC Kaiserslauten

        Match 1

        West Brom 4-0 Coventry
        Osvaldo 25
        Brunt 45
        Mulumbu 53
        Morrison 90

Osvaldo stroked in from 6 yards before Brunt made it 2 from a similar position. Mulumbu cut inside and smashed in and Morrison struck from 25 yards. So, less than an ideal start...

        Match 2

        Coventry 1-1 Crystal Palace
        Bannan 45
        Ze Eduardo 70

We are improving. Bannan got the first Premier League goal for the club, 15 years after they were relegated from the division, striking from distance. Ze Eduardo slotted in to equalise after Cole had a few shots saved.

        Match 3

        Manchester City 3-1 Coventry
        Cavani 6
        Cole 45
        Vidal 45
        Pogba 75

Manchester City showed us why they are champions. Cavani curled in but after Pantilimon dribbled to the half way line he was tackled and the deflected effort found Cole to tap in. Vidal immediately responded with a long range strike and Pogba smashed in after a brilliant one-two.

        League Cup Round 2

        Coventry 2-0 Southend
        Cole 43
        Campbell 76

        Simmed.

        Press Conference

Some fans are questioning your dealings this summer. Can you explain them?

Well I bought in Mark (Beevers) and Scott (Dann) to increase the quality in the centre of our defence. We needed more defenders as I have switched to a 5 at the back in the hope of conceding less goals. Barry (Bannan) joined as he has the quality to dictate the play. Pedro left because he didn't like Coventry, simple as. Nathan is player I regret letting go, he easily has the quality to cut it at this level but we got good money out of him.

You moved to 5 at the back to reduce goals let in. Well that clearly hasn't worked has it?

Not yet. It takes time as it is a new system. We played with a diamond formation for the last 3 seasons, it takes time to adjust.

Q: The unbeaten streak finally comes to an end after 33 straight games. Needless to say, this run was something that absolutely nobody expected. With just 3 months left in the season you seem poised to earn promotion. Could you talk about the magical run and how it has played into your chances at promotion?

A: The run was nothing short of amazing. It is something that will go down in club history and be remembered for a long time. I'm happy to have been a part of this and I can't even begin to tell you how much work the players put into it as well. We are sitting 11 points ahead in the table right now, and without this run who knows where we would be. I am happy that we proved we not only belong in this league, but we are among the best of them in this tier. Our goal isn't to stop here though, we won't settle for anything less than promotion at this point.

Q: You made an amazing comeback to push Manchester City to a replay in the F.A. Cup. But, now you have to go into the Etihad and win in order to advance. That is no small order. What are your club's chances to steal a win there?

A: It is going to be one of the toughest matches we have every taken part in. But, we refuse to back down from the challenge or to be intimidated. Manchester City can look forward to a hard fought match, and if they think they can overlook us then they will be surprised.

Q: In more cup news, with the 2nd leg draw against Rotherham United, you are now advancing to the final of the J. Paint Trophy. This will be your first chance to win some hardware at Morecambe. What will be your approach heading into such an important match?

A: This is something that I, as well as the entire team, is excited about. We want to absolutely be the ones hoisting the trophy once the match is over. We are going to approach it like any other match though in order to do our best to keep the nerves away. This is something we feel we have a great chance at, and we don't want to waste it away.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

            November

            Southend United 1-1 Coventry City
            Gauld 38'
            Wilson 83'
Surajreet9 met one of the best managers in the world in Jamiec47 as his Southend United side faced Coventry City. Jamie is a two time Champions League winner and Surajreet9 touched upon that topic as he talked to the press. "Jamie won two Champions Leagues in a row with his Newcastle side and had won the 2016 Euros. He's a fantastic manager and it's an honor to face him." For all the excitement heading into the match, it turned out to be quite scrappy. Jamie Gauld was given an opportunity to impress for Southend following his promotion to the first team and he did just that, scoring the opening goal after a nice turn and shot from outside the box. After that, Southend defended for their lives as Coventry threw everything they had at them. Callum Wilson equalized in the last ten minutes with a superb volley to end the match.

            Portsmouth 1-2 Southend United
            Munir 12' 45'
            Taylor 53'
A match between the promoted sides here as Southend United faced Lethalfish's awesome Portsmouth side. The match was highly entertaining and Southend dominated the game, scoring early on with Munir. The Spaniard dribbled past three Portsmouth defenders and slotted into the net. He extended the lead just before halftime after being set through on goal by Aaron Mooy. The youngster used his pace to burst free of the defense and powered the ball into the far post. After that, Southend fell back and relaxed but they relaxed too early as Taylor the ginger easily converted to pull within a goal of equalizing following a poor clearance from Luke Prosser. Portsmouth pressed and nearly got a goal after Bentley's save saw the ball hit the post and could've trickled in if not for Iliya Milanov. Southend claimed the three points despite the late pressure.

            Southend United 2(4)-2(2) Bradford City
            Špiranović 3', GORNELL 8'
            McLean 20', Stead 34'
Southend United required penalties to defeat Bradford City after throwing away a 2-0 lead to advance in the Johnstone Paint Trophy. Špiranović had gotten Southend off to a flying start with a towering header to open the scoring. Terry Gornell then scored a goal of the season contender. The forward received the ball from the edge of the box and and powered it into the opposite side of the net. Roots Hall had been celebrating as their side seemingly sealed their progress into the next round and they had continued after Aaron McLean somehow headed the ball into the back of the net despite being 5'7. Roots Hall fell silent fourteen minutes later after Stead received the ball and shot it into the far post. The second half proved to be dull and penalties were needed after a remarkably close extra time. Daniel Bentley once again showed maturity beyond his years, saving twice to send Southend through.

            Port Vale 0-1 Southend United
            Gornell 73'
An astoundingly dull match. Practically nothing happened because both sides defended excellently. Gornell got the only goal after a clearance fell to him and he finished easily.

            League after 17 games
            Southend United 45
            Wolverhampton 38
            Doncaster Rovers 36
            Barnsley 35
            Coventry City 35
            MK Dons 29
            ----------------------
            Walsall 15
            Chesterfield 11
            S****horpe United 9
            Tranmere Rovers 6

            Southend United 2-0 Crewe Alexandra
            Gornell 55', Chrisantus 85'
Following extensive talks with both Indiblue and Chavez, Surajreet9 decided to test out a 4-5-1 formation and allow Gornell to be the spearhead of the attack. The former Cheltenham striker did not disappoint as he was magnificent in hold up play, making 12 passes forward to allow teammates to attack. Gornell scored the opener after a drab first half after a bad goalie clearance allowed the forward to take the ball and just tap it into the back of the net. Crewe threatened after the goal and took advantage of all the space in the middle of the field to launch attack after attack. However, the attacks bore no fruit and Macaulay Chrisantus finished off the scoring with a simple finish.

            Notts County 0-1 Southend United
            Clifford 47'
The 4-5-1 was used again today as Southend United faced Notts County at Meadow Lane. However, Southend were thoroughly dominated. Chrisantus had been given a starting role and he disappointed greatly, unable to hold the ball or run for it. Notts County had plenty of freedom to attack and it took the trusty hands of Daniel Bentley to keep the match scoreless. The one attack Southend had resulted in a goal. Conor Clifford impressed once again, capitalizing on a goalkeeper error to slot into the back of the net.

            Exits and Possible Entrances
Bedsenté Gomis, John Egan, Tarik Çamdal and Macaulay Chrisantus are players expected to leave this January. Gomis and Egan handed in transfer requests following a lack of playing time and Surajreet9 has agreed, thinking he already has enough squad depth to manage. Çamdal and Chrisantus are expected to leave due to horrific form. Ryan Leonard has also been rumored to leave.John Souttar, Tom Eaves, Jean-Marie Dongou Tsafack, Gyasi Zardes, Cristian Ramirez, Declan John, Sam Gallagher, Elliot Hewitt, Leandro Paredes, Richard Lásik, and Ahmad Benali are all targets for Southend United.
Souttar will replace Prosser and add youth to the side.
Eaves or Gallagher will add height to the front line as a back up.
Either one of Dongou or Zardes will join to be a winger in a possible 4-3-3.
Cristian Ramirez, Declan John and Elliot Hewitt are lined to replace Çamdal and possibly White next season.
Leandro Paredes, Richard Lásik or Ahmad Benali will replace the influential Leonard. However, if Paredes is signed, Southend will stick to a 3-5-2 but will go to a 4-3-3 false nine if necessary.

            Youth
            Adrian Alvarez 15. Overall 38-48. Potential 63-81
            Fernando Monzon 16. Overall 47-59. Potential 64-82
            Max Burns 15. Overall 47-55. Potential 73-85
            Pablo Munoz 16. Overall 39-49. Potential 69-87
            Scott Esson 15. Overall 60-64. Potential 82-88
            Steven Woods 16. Overall 49-51. Potential 73-77

            Thoughts
Well Chico, Gornell has finally stepped up lol. He has done very well. I hope this wasn't too long of an update for you guys. I'll definitely try to cut down my reviews on the matches. I know how Paredes has been for you vrabbit so I decided to try and get him as well but it may be a stretch. I don't know how much his wages are and I'm down to around £40,000 or so on my transfer budget so it depends on how much I can leverage from the Chrisantus sale. I could swap Chrisantus for Dongou. Would be quite interesting. As for my youth academy, it's coming along. I'm excited for Esson though. If I can pull another May 1st update, he'll be amazing. I'm also hoping Max Burns turns out well. Anyways, thank you for reading (if you did lol) and bye!

Edit: Also @Indiblue, the 4-5-1 is not working out for me. Gornell was great for it but I found myself chasing the ball into the center of the field with my wingers because there wasn't enough support in that area. Thanks for the suggestion though! I appreciate it.

Suraj I'd be impressed if you got Paredes he's expensive but he'd make you a major force to be reckoned with

Dagenham update hopefully coming later today. Not a somber update.

The mighty ginger got me through some tough games last year. A lot of people seemed to be struggling against Portsmouth so you did a good job beating them!

I will be posting an updated of my my new career later. I'm taking time off Coventry for a little bit as, lets just say we are awful. We have conceded 14 goals in 5 games, scoring 3
