Wanted to get away from all the FUT talk and talk career mode instead? You came to the right place! Welcome to the thread man, as Tex said it's always great to see new faces. It's kind of slow on here right now but don't worry it will pick up and get crazy. We're like Sand People. Some of us may leave every now and then but they'll be back, and in greater numbers. :P Thanks for the shout man really means a lot to still hear about the Wimbledon career. Sounds like when you start a career you're in it for the long run so looking forward to seeing who you pick. Don't underestimate Spain though. Yes, it is one sided as you said since you know the champion is either gonna be Madrid or Barcelona, but that's also what makes it difficult. You know you have to play amazing each week in order to catch up to them and there's several teams in the league that will really make it difficult for you to keep up with them.

Anyone think that the AI knows your tendencies when trying to save penalties? I went on a long streak where I never saved one even though I would change up which way I was diving. I then noticed that they went up the middle on like 4 straight attempts over the course of the season and so the last one I had called against me I left my keeper in the middle and sure enough I saved it.

So was the CPU just reading that I always dove and started chipping it up the middle? Or is it just a weird coincidence?

Interesting theory, but I don't think so man. I mostly dive and I'm pretty confident going into penalties. Check the opponent's power bar right before he takes the shot. If he hardly powered up his shot chances are he's chipping it down the middle. Like I said though I mostly dive. This was going to be on my next Osasuna update before I decided to discontinue it. 1-0 victory over Sporting Gijon, which would have been a draw if Asier Riesgo hadn't saved this penalty.

Sorry but we prefer to use the less racist term Tusken Raider.

A fellow Star Wars fan! One of the greatest series ever. I can't wait to see what Disney pull out for Episode VII, but I'm not expecting anything all that good. Thanks for the welcome, man. Yeah, it really gets annoying when you want to discuss building a team and every other guy says 'Get TOTS Ronaldo or IF RandomPaceyPlayer'. I think I'm going to enjoy my stay here! Yeah, Spain looks like a real challenge and I'm leaning slightly towards either there or Germany, mostly because the football in both countries is played the way I like it to be.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Okay, I've sort of figured out a few clubs I'd want to do a career with, but I need your help to pick one. The first choice is Malaga, who have a monstrous midfielder in Camacho to build around. I'll need to buy a striker right away and possibly a CAM as well, because Duda is just way too decrepit to fit into my style of play. I think the budget is around £7.5 million to start with, so I can probably get both if I sell a couple of spare players. The second choice is Getafe. They also need a striker and midfield general, but there's only about £6 million to work with, so I might have to sell one of the better players.

Another place I explored is Germany. Mainz have a really good squad for a club their size. There's not much depth, but they have some really good first team players like Okazaki and Geis, who I think develops into a titan of a midfielder. Hamburg have a strong budget and their actual stadium. I'm not a fan of Lasogga, so he'd be sold in 2015 to pay for a new striker, and van der Vaart would also need to be replaced after a season. The last club I'm looking at there is Werder Bremen. I've never used a team with green kits, plus they have some really quick players in Hajrovic and Di Santo to play a counter-attacking game with.

The last country I checked out was Italy, but I only found one club that really interested me. Sampdoria have great current and classic kits but *******, their squad is all over the place! They have more than a dozen players out on loan and a similar number with the club. But I did read that the president is a crazy guy who wants to build them a new stadium, so that might be fun to include somehow. Eder Martins looks so much better with his post-January update, so he'd be the one I build around. England isn't somewhere I really want to manage right now, but if I do I'll probably go with Middlesbrough.

I see a lot of you guys use Straw Poll for these situations, so go ahead and leave your vote for where you think I should manage. I'll take the results into account when I sit down to start the career tomorrow afternoon.

Very curious. Any reason you have Rupp, who is listed as a RM, playing in the middle of the park? The 4-2-2-2 is notoriously weak through central midfield without a third man in that zone, especially since you have Hajrovic as one of your CAMs and he has a low defensive work rate. Unless you've got him set to track back, which would somewhat negate the gaps that I think are opening up for you. Might I make a suggestion? Feel free not to try it out if you'd rather not. You may find a bit more success with the 4-1-3-2. To achieve your goal of scoring more without sacrificing defensive solidity, you can have the CDM stay back and the wide midfielders get in behind. You might want to combine that with quick passing tactics for maximum effect.

I've voted for Bremen, Hajrovic is my favourite player of fifa 14 and 15 got such a nice left foot on him and has a beast of a shot. Been amazing for my RB Leipzig career so far.
Hamburg could be good as well they have a pretty solid team and would only need 2 or 3 players to make them europa league contenders. It's weird how they have struggled in the last 2 years really.

As a huge fan of German football and careers I'd love it if you did a career with Mainz, HSV or Werder but since there was a short HSV career here and Mainz aren't too interesting I decided to vote for Werder. They have a solid (pre-summer transfer window) squad with the likes of Di Santo, Hajrovic and Junuzovic but they also need a lot of improvement in many areas. They also made a very nice U-turn last season as they almost got into the Europa League.

Also, you shouldn't say "a fellow Star Wars fan". You should say "at least four fellow Star Wars fans" since at least Chico, Indi, Jamie and myself are very into SW. You may have read about the big Star Wars discussions we had some weeks ago :P

I'm very excited for the new movie, too! I think JJ Abrams is a solid sci-fi director and he'll bring something exciting and new to the mix. It hurts to say this but at least George Lucas isn't the director anymore. Why? Well...

And he wanted to make the last Indiana Jones, the third one, about a ghost house and Marsians. I still enjoy the Star Wars prequels, though.

Rupp changed to a CM after one of the last updates, he has done a solid job so far but next season I feel like a need to bring in a big name in the middle I'm considering Geis and Goretzka if I have the funds.
In terms of formation I normally go 4-2-3-1 but for some reason it just wasn't working for me in this career and the lack of goals has really forced me to go 2 up front. I'm guna try out a couple of formations including 4-1-3-2 to see what to use for next season. Not sure I'm guna have anything to play for really as I'm 12 points of Europe but focusing on the cup for now so kinds gives me a chance to try new formations and players.

Forgot to mention, we get a little off topic every now and then and the most recent off topic discussion was a Star Wars one. Sounds like you'll fit in nicely here! I'm really looking forward to December solely because of Episode VII. I think Disney will do a lot better than if Lucas was the one making the movie. So glad Disney is bringing Star Wars back. I give them the benefit of the doubt since they have made some pretty good non-animated movies in the past.

Thank you! I finally understand what Tex meant by that! I'm very happy that our Star Warsian brotherhood is growing each day and each night. Soon we should start a rebellion (pun not intended) and change the name of this thread to "How is you Star Wars fanboying going?". Who is with me? Because if you're not with me, then you are my enemy.

Seriously speaking, let's have another Star Wars discussion. We covered the balance of the Force, our favourite characters and moments, what else could we talk about? Maybe about Jar Jar Binks being technically responsible for the downfall of the Jedi and the Republic?
