It's just that time of year I guess. The amount of detail you put in is entirely up to you. We, certainly I, aren't going to force you to put a lot of detail into your updates if you don't want to.

Yup, you chose the worst time possible for joining :P I'm sure that things will change in the next couple of months, though. The amount of detail you want to put in your updates is all up to you. If you feel like writing a long, detailed post, go ahead. If you don't feel like it's worth it or if you don't feel like spending much time typing it write a shorter one with less detail. Even though I enjoyed your first update I think a bit less detail is the way to go right now since there isn't much activity going on here. I miss last year's summer when there were ten new pages every day.

Also, I'll let the poll be up for a few more hours or a day or two. There have been four votes so far and every one of them have been in favour of Hertha. When I looked at the vote yesterday I thought if it would get boring for you, the reader, to follow two Hertha careers in the span of three months. I'd like to hear your opinion on this. Schneiderlin looks also very good.

Tabanou has been amazing this season. To achieve 7 assists from a LB position is remarkable and he have become a solid player for this team. He always makes runs, he does the defensive work and is always a presence on the field. He will definately be our key player next season.

Notable Mention
Marvin Emnes - 15 goals

Emnes has playing brilliantly this season. Technically, he should be worst striker in the team, given his finishing isnt the highest and his price tag and wages are well below others in the team. However, he has showed great determination in overcoming that prejudice and become on the greatest strokers in the premier league this season. He will no doubt me our main man next year.

End of Season Thoughts
Overall, it has been an interesting season. We scored 71 goals, the 3rd highest in the league but also conceded 69 goals, the second worst in the league. This is something that will need to be addressed next summer. The defence and goalkeepers are a clear weak point in the team and we will look to shuffle and stengthen these areas when we can. We will however need to try and maintain the scoring form that we had this year, although it will be difficult to replicate this. Holding onto our key players will be a must to progress next year, but we also have to make way for new players, to keep our team fresh and raring to go.

We had a good up run in the firt half of the seasona and one can only hope it will continue next year. We did not meet our aim of Europa League which is a shame, as our form started to pick up towards the end of the season. But we know what we are caoable of and I believe we can really go for it next season!

JC: The Cup performances were tough for you, going out to Arsenal in the Semi-Final and then out to Watford in the FA Cup. As for your league spot, I'd normally say 10th isn't too bad, but I know you are aiming for Europa League. Hopefully you can put a good run of results together for the last few months and work your way up. Edit: Just saw you had another update. You had some good results to close out the season actually, you dropped some points at the end that cost you 7th though. The gap between you and 5th was bigger than I expected, but it gives you something to aim for next year.

10cabee: Man I always get so excited to keep seeing Exeter updates. I'm glad you have continued to carry it on, and enjoy it like you have. Your updates keep getting better and better too. The changes you make, and the little things you add have been outstanding. On you your results! Top half of the table is actually pretty impressive. It's been great to see you come in and not set the Premier League on fire right away. It takes time to build up a squad that can compete, and you are doing it the right way for sure. Some good results in the closing months can really move you up though.

LukeWhu: What an improvement this year! You are really making the right moves and the results are obvious. 6 point lead for the top of the table is unbelievable! Eint. Frankfurt being up there with you is a surprise as well. With a few months left in the season the league is yours to lose at this point.

Moose: I'm a little behind, but I did see your end of the season video. What a great presentation to break down the title race. What a nerve wracking last day, but you did it! Congratulations man, a well deserved title. Your squad has significantly improved every season and I can't wait to see what you do with it now as the reigning champions of England.

TerpHamm: I agree that your first season was a success. It's tough to try to overreach your expectations when you only first come in. It takes 3 transfer windows to really make a team yours. I expect next season to be a huge improvement and I wouldn't be surprised to see you ending up in one of those European spots. Juan Dominguez is a great player too. He was always one of my centerpieces in my Deportivo career.

SnapeKills: What a great first update. Not too disappointed that you didn't go with Werder since you chose one that really appealed to you and that is what this is all about. A lot of activity in the transfer window too, but a lot of quality singings for sure. You got a great value for Gastaldello, and bringing in Douglas and then the value you got for Cataldi were some shrewd moves. Keep it up man! And I enjoy the financial breakdown as well. Sorry for the lack of activity around here, I know I have been guilty lately in terms of interaction, but I can assure you that it will improve if you stick around. This thread has been going strong for over 2 years and I can't see it dying it.

Simppu: I know you are likely bringing Hertha back and I can't wait for it, but I wanted to comment on your last Valencia update as well. You have really turned that club into a powerhouse. The squad is unbelievable! Just looking at your starting XI it is hard to imagine you not being a favorite to win any competition you are in. Your transfer windows have always been some of the most entertaining, especially since you aren't afraid to sell and then make great use of those funds.

I've done already two careers with the Berliners and even though this would be the same save it'd still be a third career with them. When FIFA 16 I'll do another career with them. 2016-17 Young Player of the Year: Andreas Pereira

The award for the best player under the age of 23 goes to Andreas Pereira. The 20 year old midfielder joined the club just this season, and he slotted right into the starting XI with tremendous success. Having come up through the Manchester United academy, the English game was nothing new to him. From his advanced midfield role he finished the season with totals of 11 goals and 12 assists, making him and Johnny Russell the only players at the club to finish with double digits in each category.

2016-17 OS Community Player of the Year: Marlon Pack

Marlon Pack is your Portsmouth player of the year as voted by the OS Community for the second straight season. In his first season wearing the captain's armband he put in performances just as impressive, if not more than he did last year. The step up in competition did little to phase him and his 17 goals from the midfield was a number that caught the eye of many people around the league. He added a further 8 assists and put in a lot of work tracking back on defense to really prove himself worthy of the choice to make him captain.

That's a solid finish to the season. Like you pointed out it was an up and down season but next season it can only be better. Some players you could like as defence options are Gary Cahill, Mamadou Sakho, John Stones and Steven Caulker.

Thanks for the suggestions. I thought about bringing in another CB with Coloccini undoubtedly close to retirement, but I have Lascelles returning from a loan spell so I think I am going to stay put. Brooks, Yanga-Mbiwa, and Lascelles is a solid CB trio for the future I think.

Okay, so you want a starting left back. If you're keeping this career semi-realistic I'd suggest getting Luke Shaw, Layvin Kurzawa, Lucas Digne, Jordan Amavi, Jetro Willems, Jon Flanagan, Aaron Cresswell or Kieran Gibbs. Shaw or Kurzawa would probably be the most expensive ones but they should all be available for under fifteen million.

I had to pay 20 mil to get Shaw in my Betis CM, They wanted 25 mil for him and I got him for 20, Kurzawa runs around 15-18 Mil in every CM I've done in this game

This month was faultless, with 4 wins from 4; it could not have gone any better. We were playing some amazing football at times and had the perfect balance of attack and defence. Scoring goals was no issue this month after scoring 9 goals and I have to mention the form of Haris Seferovic who netted 5 goals in those 4 games. We decided to switch the formation to a 4-2-3-1 just to be a bit more cautious towards the end of the season and it didn’t affect the amount of goals we scored and Seferovic as cemented his place as the lone striker which he played magnificently. This month was vital in the title race and now this puts us in pole position coming into the final hurdle of the race.

We did it, THE LEAGUE TITLE IS OURS!!! This was confirmed after victory over Hannover after the news came in that Bayern lost away at Hertha. It was a good month with 3 wins from 4 and those 3 wins meant that we had been on a winning streak which stretched back to 8 games which was a tremendous achievement in itself however it came to an end at the hands of Eint.Frankfurt in game which nothing really happened honestly. Our players already had the flip flops on whilst Frankfurt were still in with a shot at the Champions League spot which they deserved after being up there for the majority of the season. Even though the results were good I was disappointed with the level of performance and would have liked to have ended the season in style with a victory but I can’t complain too much because after all WE WON THE LEAGUE.

So we defied the odds and managed to win the league. Before the season started we were predicted to finish in 7th place but I think it’s safe to say we exceeded those expectations. We achieved the aim of European football with the Red Bull Arena set to stage the top clubs from across Europe next season which is something everyone at the club is looking forward to. I was shocked by how many points we won the league by, but after the slow starts and inconsistent form of many of the bigger clubs it was us who took advantage of that and it shows from the league table. I feel for Eint.Frankfurt after missing out on both the Champions League and Europa League after poor form towards the closing end of the season cost them but I’m sure they will recover for next season. This was a season that any team can win the league which is showing the strength of German Football at the moment.

This award could have gone to any member of the squad after the season that we had but it was Draxler who stood out the most this season. At times this season he was just untouchable, going around defenders as if they were not even there as well as chipping in with a couple of goals and assists, although i’m sure he will be saying that he could have done more. It was the level of performance that caught the eye rather than the goals and assists. He was playing consistently at a top level that both myself and the fans appreciated and i’m sure he will do the same next season.

With Matt Tubbs leaving the club and Michael Drennan still developing, bringing in another forward became a priority for Portsmouth. The manager once again dug into the list of old academy players and sent an inquiry to Dundee United for Nadir Çiftçi who was with Portsmouth from 2007-2011. Dundee returned asking for a massive fee of £3,100,000, but Berhalter countered with less than half of that at £1,500,000. Eventually a fee was agreed to of £1,600,000 and the dynamic forward who can play anywhere along the front will be returning to Pompey hoping to make a lasting impression this time around.

RB, Ryan McLaughlin, 70 OVR, 22 yrs old, Norther Ireland - £950,000 from Liverpool FC

After selling Tosin Olufemi, the club began looking for a new defender who was more in par with the quality the club needed. Ryan McLaughlin was targeted and Portsmouth sent an inquiry to Liverpool and the club returned a valuation of £1,300,000 for their young defender. Portsmouth countered with an offer of £750,000 which was flat out rejected, but their improved offer of £950,000 was agreed to and the Liverpool youth product is moving to the South Coast for his chance at first team football that he wasn't likely to ever get at Liverpool.

LB, Jack Robinson, 68 OVR, 24 yrs old, England - Loaned from QPR

Dan Butler's demand for a bigger role resulted in the defender being sold leaving a need for another left sided defender. Ryan McLaughlin's old Liverpool academy teammate was brought in on a season loan to fill that need. Robinson was signed by Liverpool at only 9 years old, but only managed a hand full of first team appearances before being sold to QPR in 2014. He should compete with Blair Adams on the left side for playing time as neither have distinguished themselves at this point.

Then to transfers. When did you manage to sell Tubbs? I can't find him anywhere in this update. You did well to replace the two fullbacks with better players and the Bosman signings look good, too. And then we get to the big signing. Nadir Ciftci has been reunited with Tex Bumosix aka Tex Bumoseis aka Berhalter once again! I'm sure the legend will bang a ton of goals for you again.

Semi-realism is always good, but I'm not too worried about that. Thanks for the suggestions though. I think my transfer budget is around $17-18 mil for the upcoming transfer window, and I have a few semi-expensive guys that I am going to transfer list (Siem De Jong the most expensive of them).
