Hey guys, thanks for all your suggestions. Nordveit was my top target but turned out to be more than I could afford. In the end I went for experience considering the nature of the position. I think you guys will like who I've signed.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Bologna S02
This week, we bring you the last press conference of the 2015/16 season with Bologna head coach Severo Bombo discussing everything from results and performances to laying down a foundation for the future of the club.
What's your assessment of the season?
It wasn't bad for our first year back in Serie A, was it? I think that we could have qualified for the Europa League if April had been a bit kinder to us, but we had a thin squad. By the time we had to play six games in one month it felt like we were running on fumes. I think seventh isn't bad considering we were limited in terms of what we could do in the transfer market, but we all wish we had put in that extra bit of effort to qualify for the Europa League.
Do you think you deserved European football?
I would say our performances in April did not merit qualification. You cannot simply take six games out of the equation and say that we deserved Europe on the back of 32 games. When you consider we had no cup football to pull our focus away from the league, it becomes difficult to make excuses. But we learned important lessons on how to handle these situations better, and I would like to think that we will be careful this season in those situations.
The squad was thin yet five players had fewer than 10 games.
You have to select the best team for each game. Having a robust squad is not just about numbers, but about having the right profile of player at your disposal. I said at the start of the season that everyone will have a role to play, but things change over the course of several months. We weren't able to do much in January because of the financial situation, and we paid for it.
Do you think your team played better than Lazio or Fiorentina?
Like I said, a season is a season. You cannot take away one full month from the calendar and say, 'We deserved it more'. It does not matter if you play beautiful or ugly football, because if you don't get the results you are not going taste the rewards. Lazio and Fiorentina were both very good in terms of the way they managed their season. We weren't, and it was not enough.
What needs to change for Bologna to achieve its goals?
Obviously we have to concede less and score more, but that makes it too simple. We want to be stronger in stopping attacks in midfield before they get to our defenders. We have to be quicker once we recover the ball and reduce the time between defence and attack. But most important is that we need to stop letting bad results influence the next game performance.
There is a feeling that your attack is one-dimensional.
This is not something I can deny. We rely heavily on Mancosu to score for us. It becomes very easy for other teams to isolate him and cut away the goal supply. This means other players have to take more responsibility and contribute to the team. It's not enough to play beautifully and look pretty, because you have to score and assist if you really want to help the team.
It feels like you're speaking about Bernardeschi.
Federico is a very talented player, there is no question about that. But now he has to improve his maturity on the pitch. I know he is capable of scoring and creating chances, so it is frustrating sometimes to see that his limited contribution is just in terms of improving the visual quality of our attacking.
Are you saying he's to blame for your failure to qualify for Europe?
Absolutely not. I am saying he is responsible for his own failure to meet the standards of his talent and ability. We require a greater application from the player because it is obvious what he can do. There is no question of talent or ability. I'm sure he has the desire to improve, and I want to see that he converts that into end product. The team relies on him to do more for us.
Doesn't this criticism risk alienating him?
I would not say this in public without speaking to the player first. Federico is not the type to cry over honest feedback. He's a very strong and stable human with every understanding of what is expected of him, only that at times his love for playing football can overrule his knowledge of what he has to do for the team. We realize that he has had a difficult time with injuries in the last 12 months. All we ask of him is to move in the right direction.
You've been linked with quite a few defenders lately.
We recognize the need to be more solid at the back. To sign a defender is the priority this season. I have a fantastic director of football who knows what I need and who I need. He works very hard so that I can relax and do my job in peace. There is plenty of time, and I am confident we will get our business done very quickly to add a defender before we begin the season.
Maietta improved your defence when he came back in. Why not him?
Domenico is a great player and very important leader, but he cannot play in every game. We have to manage the player due to his age and his medical history, so it is important to select the games he will appear in. Also he has to have enough rest between games depending on how long he plays, so it is important that we sign another defender who can offer a good situation.
Shouldn't we be looking at Zuculini for failing to shield his defenders?
There is no question over his future. Franco was very important in the first season I became head coach. He was the stable foundation for the midfield and helped us reach Serie A right away. Last season as well, he was a very important figure for us. You saw in the first 25-30 games that he benefits in a two-man pivot. We don't discard a player because he has five or six bad games, so there is no question about him leaving the club this summer.
Is it true you've named Casarini as the new captain?
The decision of who is captain involves the players and the coaches, not to me alone. Casarini is very important to this team. As a player, he improves us because he has been with this club for more than 10 years. Better than everyone else, he knows what it means to wear the shirt of Bologna. In the dressing room, he is irreplaceable. No player can be selfless and concerned with the benefit of his club as much as Casarini. There is no doubt about it.

- · We came up against a strangely familiar QPR side that named Joseph Gomez and Dwight Gayle.
- · Weale made some space on the edge of the box to strike the ball with upmost accuracy into the bottom corner just four minutes in.
- · Compton won and scored a penalty to make the score 2-0.
- · Byram made a run from deep to deliver a pinpoint cross to the head of Sergio Rodríguez who glanced the ball home.
- · Germain stopped us from getting a clean sheet but a neat one-two with Ward-Prowse allowed us to get a fourth after the ball was lifted over the last defender for Benzia who calmly chipped the keeper.

- · Conor Compton was forced off the pitch with an injury but insisted to play on for the last minute left of the first half. He came in and we discovered that he had broken his toe. Enquiries will be made against the medical staff for allowing him back on the pitch.
- · DeAndre Yedlin sprints up the wing from deep to deliver a great cross to the near post where Sanogo flicks his head back to head the ball up and over the keeper for the opening goal.
- · Robert Bauer scores with his first touch as a corner is whipped into the near post and he nods the ball in the back of the net.
Bee: - “We performed well this match and did what we needed to do. It’s great to see the new signings making such an impact I hope they can continue their form. As for the injury and medical staff, Conor will be getting a scan straight away on his toe. We hope he recovers quickly as he’s been such a massive influence since he joined. The medical staff will be assessed and an official enquiry is being carried out as to why they let Conor back onto the pitch.”
Conor Compton has suffered a Broken Toe and will be out for 3 months

Top Scorers:
Yaya Sanogo: (EXE) 9 Goals
Wayne Rooney (MUN) 5 Goals
Ahmed Musa (EVE) 4 Goals
The Manager’s View:
We’re playing really well! All of the new signings are doing all that I wanted them to and more! Yaya Sanogo was frustrated in the Swansea game because their defence isolated him well but he came out of nowhere with a wonder strike with his left foot from outside the area which just shows that he is a world class player and that he’ll take any opportunity and score when it seems impossible to score. Sergio Rodríguez is the Premier League’s top assister and that’s exactly what I got him for! Aké’s been solid defensively and chipped in with some crucial goals. He played magnificently in against his former club, Chelsea. He contained the likes of the Hazard brothers when in the middle he constantly was a problem for Matić. Aké’s partner, Kyle Weale, has been in scintillating form which has helped us dominate the midfield.
I can’t say we’ll stay second for long but I hope we don’t slip down the ladder too quickly and that we stop just under or around the top 5. It’s nice to see that we’ve got the best goal difference due to our dominating displays too!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Portsmouth FC
FIFA 15 - Season 4
Pompey's March to the Top
Winter Transfer Window
Transfers Out
LM, Josh Murphy, 72 OVR, 22 yrs old, England - £5,000,000 to Burnley FC
GK, Cody Cropper, 71 OVR, 25 yrs old, United States - £3,000,000 to Delfino Pescara 1936
Transfers In
GK, Daniel Bentley, 70 OVR, 24 yrs old, England - £1,100,000 from Southend United
After the surprise sale of Cody Cropper, Portsmouth had to move quick in order to secure a replacement between the sticks. Three targets were picked out and inquiries were sent to each of the clubs respectively. While Portsmouth was negotiating a deal for Karl Darlow, Celtic swooped in and completed a deal for him. The next in line was Daniel Bentley at third division Southend United. After a few rounds of haggling over price, the deal was agreed to at £1,100,000 on the last day of the window.
CAM, Charlie Telfer, 69 OVR, 22 yrs old, Scotland - £1,600,000 from Dundee United
Another attacking midfielder was a key target for the club, since Pereira was the only natural player in that position with the club. Portsmouth targeted two Scottish players in Charlie Telfer and Ryan Christie. Negotiations began with both clubs after both players were quoted around the same price. Telfer was the preferred option due to his wages being more affordable for the club to take on. In the end, Dundee United was the first club to reach an agreement, and Telfer moved to Portsmouth for £1,600,000, giving Portsmouth a young playmaker with big potential for the future.
GK, Mark Cousins, 61 OVR, 31 yrs old, England - £50,000 from Dagenham & Redbridge
With Cropper going out and only Makasi on the roster, the club needed to add a player for depth until another keeper was brought in. Mark Cousins from Dagenham was picked out as an experienced player that could come in and serve as a mentor for the younger players and also provide cover in case of injuries. After a few talks, a fee of £50,000 was agreed to, and the player will not be adjusting to life on the south coast.
ST, Joe Mason, 69 OVR, 26 yrs old, Ireland - Free transfer from Cardiff City FC
With Jamieson, Çiftçi, and Veldwijk all sitting time out with injuries so far this season, another striker was an ideal addition for the club as cover. Several inquiries were sent out, and Cardiff returned telling the club that the player was theirs as long as they took on his wages. The deal was quickly agreed to and Mason will fill in as a second choice target man behind Veldwijk.
RM, Marcel Tisserand, 69 OVR, 25 yrs old, DR Congo - Free transfer from AS Monaco
The sale of Josh Murphy left a void on the wing that needed to be filled. With Russell, Hahn, and newly promoted Mac-Intosh as the only options, an experienced player was needed to be brought in. Marcel Tisserand was a player that was targeted. He had spent his entire career with AS Monaco, bu was never likely to break into the line up. When the inquiry was sent in, the club was willing to let him go for no return in order to let the unsettled player get his wishes.
CB, Seb Hines, 68 OVR, 29 yrs old, England - Free transfer from Middlesbrough FC
Drey Beasant's lack of improvement this season left a lot to be desired in terms of back up options in the middle of the defense. Experience was needed, and they found that with 29 year old Seb Hines. Portsmouth contacted Middlesbrough expressing their interest, and they were all too happy to part with the player and get him off of their wage bill.
CM, Joe Morrell, 66 OVR, 21 yrs old, Wales - Free transfer from Bristol City FC
In one of the most surprising transfers of the window, Bristol City was willing to part with a promising young midfielder for no fee in return. It appeared that the unsettled player's relationship with the club was beyond the point of repair, and his wish to move on was granted since his contract only had 6 months left on the deal.
LB, Jonas Heymans, 68 OVR, 25 yrs old, Belgium - Pre-Contract agreement from AZ Alkmaar
After Jack Robinson returns to QPR at the end of the season, Blair Adams remains as the only LB on the roster. In a good move, an agreement was reached with Jonas Heymans to join Portsmouth at the end of his current deal with AZ Alkmaar.

Paulinho got the ball at midfield and dribbled through the defense to go through and across to the far post. Lamela crossed the ball in from the right wing and Eriksen got his head to it and directed it off the keeper's hands and in for the exclamation point on the match as Tottenham advanced to the final.

Pereira sent a corner into the box and Whatmough was able to get his head on it and loop it over the keeper. In a controversial decision, Angella was sent off for a tackle in the box against Williams, although it looked like he got plenty of the ball. Pack stepped to the spot and converted it into the top left corner. Battocchio got past the defense on the right side of the box and he played a ball to the middle where an unmarked Watson was there to direct it home for an equalizer. Çiftçi attacked the right side of the goal and used a fake to pull the ball back towards the middle and the fired it home into the bottom left corner.

League Play - Our lead at the top continues to grow. We are playing at an unbelievably high level when it comes to league games, and no team is looking likely to catch us. We can't look towards the Premier League just yet, but it is getting closer and closer to reality.
F.A. Cup - We opened up F.A. Cup play this month with wins over Crewe Alexandra, and a closer than it should have been win over Watford. We played several of our reserve players in these matches in order to rotate the squad due to the congestion of fixtures during this time of the year. Next we face Liverpool in the round of 16.
Capital One Cup - The semi-finals were not kind to us. We failed to get a result in the first leg in London, but still had optimism heading back home only down 1-0 on aggregate. Everything fell apart for us in the second leg. Paulinho and Eriksen had their way with our defense, and we were unceremoniously dumped out of the competition one step short of the final.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Behind the scenes at Bologna
Italian football is no stranger to divisive relationships between coaches and administrators, but that doesn't make it any easier to digest a breakdown in the relationship between one of Europe's brightest young coaches and his director of football. More's the pity since Severo Bombo and Paolo Altoviti have so far combined to engineer for Bologna some of the best budget deals of the last few years, chief among them Federico Bernardeschi's transfer from Fiorentina in July 2014, which cost the club nothing but the player's contract.
But now it seems all is not rosy between the two, with the man at the centre of their disagreement none other than Bologna's resident superstar, Matteo Mancosu. The Cagliari-born forward has scored 40 goals in 76 league appearances since arriving from Trapani in the summer of 2014 and is now the cynosure of eyes across Europe, but at the age of 31 with a birthday coming up in December, Altoviti is certain that physical followed by technical decline is the sole inevitable outcome. As such, he wants to make hay while the sun shines and cash in on Mancosu's feel-good factor after the Sardinian scored 20 goals in his first ever Serie A campaign, as many as the Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuaín, who oddly was named last season's sole Capocannoniere.
Bombo, on the other hand, wishes to keep Mancosu around having just handed him a two-year contract extension that nearly doubled his gross annual salary to €1.8 million. But more pertinently, Bologna's head coach is confident that Mancosu still has plenty to offer the team. His pace and dribbling make him a viable candidate for the wing should Bombo choose to implement a 4-3-3, though more likely is Mancosu's ability to slot into three or four different central attacking roles. The coach's final argument is that replacing Mancosu will prove costlier than keeping him, though Altoviti is certain Samed Yesil is ready to make the step up to the first team. The young German and former Liverpool reserve is of a similar mould to Mancosu — small, agile and nimble, though with less pace and far superior technique but, at the age of just 22, plenty of room to grow.
But Altoviti's train of thought has its merits. As a player who relies on rapid acceleration over the first five yards of his movement, Mancosu is much like Michael Owen and Fernando Torres in that his goals will dry up when he loses that burst of pace, unless he is able to adapt his game such that his timing and positioning make up for the slower burts of speed. Yet unlike the former Liverpool duo, Mancosu has experience as a second striker, a role not dissimilar to playing in Bologna's attacking trio behind the main man. If Mancosu is ready, willing and able to take on this deeper role, there is no reason to sell him. In fact, it would also let Ibrahima Mbaye drop back to his stronger and natural left back position, where he will flourish without taking up a valuable attacking spot.
Another bone of contention between them is squad composition. Altoviti is open about his desire to stock as few forwards as possible, his argument being they are more expensive than defenders and midfielders. He has repeatedly made public statements about his admiration for the versatility and variation of the 4-5-1 system. Bombo is rather keen on having four out-and-out strikers so that he can use his preferred 3-5-2 system, in addition to one versatile and creative forward who can play anywhere from midfield up. However, where both men agree is on the need to improve the squad from the back forwards, whatever the final outcome.
Join us next week for an in-depth interview with Bologna academy graduate and current first team regular Federico Casarini.Last edited by SnapeKillsDumbledore; 08-22-2015, 06:05 PM.Comment

January was a very bad month for us. We only won 1 game and that was only a cup game. Kramaric sold to Manchester United early on in the month, so we were lacking inspiration from him. We went out of the cup but achieved our aim.WE were waiting for transfers to go throuhg for this month, so we were a little distracted for the games we played. Still that is no excuse to lose like we did to the teams we should have been beating. If promotion is still to be achieved, we need to make the right signings and imporve on our defending. Scoring wise, we dont have a problem, scoring the most in the league, but we concede to many goals and that cannot carry on for the rest of the season.

February has been a great month for us. We only lost 1 game, which was a 1-0, a vast improvement on our previous form. We managed 3 clean sheets this month, which is amazing and won 4 games, pushing us closer to that top spot. This may be down to a change of formation, where we changed from a 4-4-2 to a 4-1-4-1, giving us a defensive midfielder to support the defenders. We also recruited Matthew Ryan (GK) from Club Brugge and Vetergaard (CB) from Werder Bremen, who have inspired our team defensively since their arrival. This addition of a new CB has also springed life into summer signing Hintergger, who has been in terrific form as of late when paying with Vestergaard. and with Ryan in goal making saves that Schmiechal unfortabany hasnt been able to make, maybe I have finally found the right defenders to move forward with. With Drinkwater as the new club captain controlling the midfield and Zivkovic scoring goals up front, we may be able to push forward and win the league.
Many thanks for reading. Any comments or suggestions are very welcome
Good luck for getting to the top spot!
Mellon's Shrews: December 2014
Spoiler
FA Cup: Round 2
Shrewsbury 1-1 Mansfield Town
SHR: 90' Collins
MAN: 55' Clucas
•Mansfield and Clucas got a lucky goal against the run of play. Just as Goldson was about to clear it, Clucas nipped in and scored under Halstead.
•However rightfully, we managed to equalize through none other than Collins. Connor Goldson had pushed forward to join the attack and played the ball to Collins who spun his man and fired a rocket off his left foot past Studer, who had had a terrific game.
•Somehow we didn't win but we'll take the draw and replay.
***
Jordan Clark sprained his ankle so he will be out of action for 3 weeks.
***
FL2: Match 21
Shrewsbury 5-1 Accrington
SHR: 71' Lawrence 74' 86' Collins 80' Woods 83' Vincent
ACC: 85' Naismith
•A dull enough game exploded into life in the last 20 minutes.
•Vincent slipped Lawrence in to open the scoring and then the winger put Collins through for the second.
•Woods scored the third, cutting inside and finishing into the corner.
•Vincent got a goal to add to his 2 assists.striking the ball cleanly to beat Lynch.
•Naismith got one back after he nutmegged Ellis on the edge of the box before shooting past Halstead.
•Collins completed a brace, taking him to 15 goals this season in all competitions, heading in substitute Mangan's cross.
***
Mickey Demetriou joins Clark on the sidelines after also spraining his ankle. We will be without him for 3 weeks.
***
FA Cup: Round 2 Replay
Mansfield Town (5) 1-1 (6) Shrewsbury
MAN: 86' Knight-Percival OG
SHR: 55' Gornell
•The second team played due to the first team being fatigued.
•They really should have won in normal time, Mansfield not even registering a shot on target in the entire 90 minutes.
•Gornell got us ahead, Griffith finding his run and the former Cheltenham man tucked it away.
•The danger when you only score one is that the opponent can get a little bit of luck and tie it up even though you dominate the game.
•That's what happened here. Leutwiler saved a shot from a tight angle and it bounced off Knight-Percival and into the net.
•It went to penalties and we prevailed even though Mansfield raced into a lead. Some good saves from Leutwiler and poor misses from Mansfield managed to keep us in the shootout. Leutwiler, our GK, scored a terrific penalty right into the corner and then on loan LB Ryan Haynes scored the winning penalty.
•Championship side Brentford, adrift by 4 points at the bottom, are our Round 3 opposition.
***
FL2: Match 22
Portsmouth 1-1 Shrewsbury
POR: 59' Taylor
SHR: 42' Collins
•Crucial clash as Portsmouth are a point ahead in 1st.
•A mistake by Robinson at the back allowed Collins to take advantage and net the opening goal.
•One chance was all it took though for top scorer Ryan Taylor to take his tally to 17 for the season.
•Portsmouth GK Paul Jones was also in sensational form making 6 saves, and all of them were important ones.
•I guess you can say that a point is a good result but it wasn't what we needed.
***
FL2: Match 23
Shrewsbury 2-0 Oxford United
SHR: 10' Gornell 46' McAllister
•Griffith played the ball into Gornell's feet and his turn left the defender on the ground before he slotted the ball away.
•Akpa Akpro got away down the right and his ball across the box was met by McAllister for 2-0.
•Leutwiler then had work to do to save Hoskins' penalty in the 53rd minute after Haynes gave it away.
***
FL2: Match 24
Hartlepool 1-2 Shrewsbury
HAR: 12' Miller
SHR: 32' Bates OG 83' Woods
•Halstead saved the first attempt from Hartlepool but Miller was there to finish the rebound from 18 yards.
•Bates had put the ball in his own net by halftime to level it up.
•Woods showed quick feet to get out from between two defenders and finish for the winner.
***
James Wesolowski suffered a bruised shoulder and will miss 9 days.
***
FL2: Match 25
Tranmere Rovers 0-4 Shrewsbury
SHR: 25' Mangan 44' Maksimenko 76' 90' (Pen) Gornell

•MOTM Gornell finished off a counter attack for 3-0.
•And Mangan won a penalty from which Gornell completed his brace.

It was a shame that you couldn't stretch that lead further away from Portsmouth after that 1-1 draw against them but Ryan Taylor was a beast when I was in the lower leagues with Exeter too!
Good luck for the rest of the season!
The man behind the Shrews
Spoiler
Micky Mellon, born in Paisley located in the Scottish lowlands, has been in charge of League Two side Shrewsbury Town for 5 months now and the halfway stage of the season has been reached. The 43 year old Scot played professional football for 17 years at a total of 11 clubs. His most prominent clubs were Tranmere Rovers where he made 173 appearances across 3 spells and Blackpool where he played under Big Sam. Under his guidance he played 138 times in midfield scoring 17 goals in all competitions. The Tangerines' fans voted him their 1995-96 Player of the Year for his performances as they narrowly missed out on promotion to Division One.
Mellon had a brief spell as Assistant Manager at Lancaster City, the club where he finished his playing career, before moving to another former club Burnley. At Turf Moor he took charge of the Clarets' Under-15 and Under-16 youth teams. Fleetwood Town came calling at the end of 2008 and he became their manager, leading the side to two promotions over 3 years, including a first placed finish with 103 points in the Conference National. He was sacked after a run of 3 defeats in December 2012 despite the club sitting 4th in League Two. He spent a year as Assistant Manager at Barnsley before being sacked and taking his current job at Shrewsbury Town.
32 games in and his team have had a 22-5-5 record in all competitions. So far they remain in the running for one cup, the FA Cup, where they are in the 3rd Round awaiting the challenge of Championship bottom dwellers Brentford after already seeing off fellow League Two sides York City and Mansfield Town. Although both went to replays and the latter to a dramatic penalty shootout. Mellon will be wary of Championship opponents having been knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Mick McCarthy's Ipswich in only his second competitive game. There was also disappointment in the Johnstone Paint Trophy losing out to Wycombe courtesy of an extra time winner from Steven Craig. The have fared better in the league however, sitting 1st after 25 games having accumulated 60 points, one more than their nearest title rivals Portsmouth. It has been a constant battle between the two for top spot and should it come down to goal difference, the Shrews have the advantage, boasting the league's joint best defence, 18, and best offence, 9 goals more than Portsmouth (49 to 40). They are clearly an effective side and will take some stopping on their way to promotion and to, hopefully for fans, the Sky Bet League Two title.
Central to this have been the performances of key players. Connor Goldson and Mark Ellis have formed a solid partnership at the heart of the defence while Mark Halstead behind them has been in terrific form. Veteran midfielder Liam Lawrence has always been assured in possession and his distribution from deep has been top notch. The young Ryan Woods has played with a freedom that makes him extremely hard to mark in the No. 10 role bringing creativity to the final third. To finish it all off, James Collins has been scoring regularly, whether it be from crosses, supplied by James Caton or Ashley Vincent, or from balls in behind the defence. The ROI striker is behind only Pompey's Ryan Taylor (19) in the goal scoring charts with 11 strikes, level with Odejayi of Tranmere Rovers.
The fine performers listed above are only the first team and Mellon has put together a more than capable B Team to rely on when the first choice XI are not fully fit, among other things. It all starts from Swiss goalkeeper Jason Leutwiler who is more than staking a claim for the spot of Halstead with his performances. 27 year old Knight-Percival has gelled well with both Maksimenko and Smith, now being able to play with either of them in central defence. Griffith has provided athleticism and power in the middle of the park with McAllister alongside him complimenting the partnership. The trio of Gornell, Akpa Akpro and Mangan offer the primary goal threat with Akpa Akpro and Mangan often switching positions, CAM and LM/RM.
Just what changes Mellon will make in the transfer window is uncertain, many pundits are saying that it would be disastrous to mess with the team at this stage. That only two or three new faces are needed to freshen the team up. Then there is the topic of the Youth Academy. Mellon has stated that bringing youth through is a big priority of his so we could even see one or two youth players making the jump to the first team over the course of the next few months.
Whatever happens, the future of Shrewsbury Town is looking very bright indeed. Missing out on promotion would take the biggest of collapses and surely won't happen.
Join us next week as we look at an under performing Accrington side who are at rock bottom.Spoiler
Looking forward to seeing how you handle the January transfer window providing what you said about messing up your team also. What positions are you looking at strengthening??

Our form seems to have dipped and it could be for a number of factors but it is no excuse. I think due to our huge gap at the top of the league we have just let it slip which is disappointing. We have had to rest several of our key players for the Champions League and I just hop it is worth it come the end of the competition. The month started well with a victory over Schalke but then just went downhill from their. A last minute goal denied us victory against FC Koln and Hamburg beat us 2 - 0 in what was probably our worst performance in a couple of years. We got through to the Quarter Finals of the Champions League despite losing the second leg to Chelsea 1 - 0. We can really start to see ourselves going far in this competition and we just have to believe in ourselves. Our first leg of the Quarter Final ended 0 - 0 which was a good result that means we only need the 1 goal to qualify in the 2nd leg.
April 2020

April started of terrible with our second 2 - 0 defeat in succession, the first time we have lost two in a row since our first season back in the division but again we had our minds set on the Champions League. We progressed in the Champions League on away goals with the clean sheet in the first leg proving to be the vital in the tie. We stopped the bad run we had been on with a 3 - 2 victory over Eint.Frankfurt but again conceded 2 goals which is unlike us and is something we are looking to fix in the coming weeks but however, this victory was enough to see us crowned champions of the Bundesliga for the second time. We lost again to Stuggart 2 - 0 but the fixtures are really testing us with many of our players feeling fatigued and struggling for form and we may look to recall some of our loan players to add a bit of a spark to the squad. In the Desucther Pokal we managed to go thorugh on penalties in a game that looked as if we were going to be winning in extra time only for Wolfsburg to respond quickly to going 1 - 0 down, taking the tie to penalties. In the Semi Final of the Champions League we drew Valencia which seemed to be the easier tie compared to the other 2 teams left but we can't underestimate them. In the first leg we got a 1 - 1 draw, scoring that all important away goal which puts us at an advantage going into the 2nd leg. The 2nd leg didn't go according to plan after we were outclassed, simple as that. We lost the game 3 - 0, we just didn't turn up but I was proud of my players for getting so far in the competition and the rest of Europe is really starting to take note of our recent success.
May 2020

With nothing to play for in the league, it gave me a chance to rotate the team and it seemed to have paid off in the first game of the month after a 3 - 1 victory over a Frieburg team who were preparing for a relegation play off match. Our last game of the season saw us pick up the trophy at Hoffenheim and although we only managed a draw nothing could dampen the mood after winning the league title. We now had a chance to win our second piece of silverware of the season in the Deustcher Pokal Final against FC Bayern in a game that started perfectly. We were 1 - 0 up after 5 minutes with Alex Telles choosing the perfect time to get his first goal for the club. That lead was then doubled after Aubameyang continued his good form since his January move with another goal and that all but secured the victory. We looked comfortable up unitl the 90th minute when Bayern's pressure paid off but it was too little too late and we picked up our first double.

RB Leipzig 2019/20 Stats

The player of the year for the 2019/20 season was a tough choice to make as we had some really top performers this year, but the fans voted for leading goalscorer Hakan Calhanoglu after helping to guide the side to a historical double this season. Hakan really stepped up this year and and handled the pressure of filling the gap left by not only Julian Draxler but also Max Meyer and the fans really appreciate the hard work and determination he put into the cause. He was instrumental in the side going forward and has now registered double figures in his last 2 seasons and we just hop he can continue this food form and help lead the side to even more success in the future.
Final Thoughts
So it was a successful season for us, winning the league and cup as well as building on last seasons Champions League run and next season we are aiming to get that one step further, the final. We have already stregnthened for next season with the arrival of Robin Knocke (82) and Yacine Brahimi (84) so we hope to be competing again next season. We are also delighted to announce that Josip Reinmann (17y 68ovr) & Tero Niemi (17y 68ovr) have signed their first professional contracts with the club and we look forward to seeing how well they develop over the coming years. There have been discussions with the board over the upcoming season and we decided that expectations are a little higher this year and we are expecting to win the league as well as challenge in the Deuscther Pokal again. In the Champions League we agreed that the Quarter Finals would be considered a good season as the competition gets tougher and tougher every year but we are confident that we can exceed that this time around. In terms of budget we have agreed on £23,500,000 and a wage budget of £110,000 which we feel is fair and a sufficient enough to strengthen the team ahead of the new season.
Thanks for reading guys and any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
Ten points clear from Bayern!? Very impressive! You also won the Pokal which is another amazing feat! Looking forward to seeing if your improve upon your Champions league performance next season!
Bologna S02
Spoiler

Spoiler

Getting Tottenham was always gonna be a difficult time and they proved it there! I say that you'll have much more of a chance next year after you've strengthened the team a little more. You are DEFINITELY in the Premier League so looking forward to seeing how you do!
Behind the scenes at Bologna
Spoiler
Join us next week for an in-depth interview with Bologna academy graduate and current first team regular Federico Casarini.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
I can't believe that Mansfield managed to fend you off until the last minute despite you ruling play. Then they get some luck in the replay and you've got to go into penalties! Well, at least you advanced into the next round which is what really matters.
It was a shame that you couldn't stretch that lead further away from Portsmouth after that 1-1 draw against them but Ryan Taylor was a beast when I was in the lower leagues with Exeter too!
Good luck for the rest of the season!
Very nicely written. It was interesting to hear about your previous jobs and it was a good overview of your current predicament too.
Looking forward to seeing how you handle the January transfer window providing what you said about messing up your team also. What positions are you looking at strengthening??
It was a shame but all that guy needed was one chance to score and he took it. I was surprised no one bought him in the transfer window actually.
Thanks about the writeup, Wikipedia came in handy for that! I've already done the window (It'll be up today/tomorrow) but I went into it aiming for some pre-contracts, winger and LB, I also wanted to get another winger in either on loan or permanently and offload one or two deadwood players. Any other moves were because of an offer too good to refuse.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Leeds United continue their outstanding form under new manager Chavez, who has gave significant importance to his team's defensive work. While the strikers are struggling to score goals still, the defense has been rock solid which has allowed Leeds to pull through with several 1-0 victories. Some fans are not happy with the way the games have been won, while others couldn't be happier as they were expecting a mid table finish this season. The fans' complaints about Chavez's playing style can be easily halted by Chavez's numbers though, with the club sitting at the top of the table and the team winning 8 matches in a row with the best defense in the league. Yes everything seemed perfect for the West Yorkshire side, but all good things must come to an end. Leeds quickly found themselves in a hole that they just couldn't get out of after losing their winning streak with a 1-1 draw against bottom of the table Brentford. We all thought the Peacocks would be able to get back on track with no issues but in the following 4 games they drew 3 and lost 1. With just 4 points in 5 games many began to demand Chavez's head, but the club's outstanding start to the season allowed them to hold on to the league leadership despite the recent drop of form. Leeds' strikers already had problems scoring, but now they REALLY couldn't score. Things only got worse as Alex Mowatt, the club's top scorer at the time, suffered a Dislocated Shoulder that would rule him out for 8 weeks. Losing the CAM to injury led Chavez to change formations from a 4-4-1-1 to a 4-4-2 with Steve Morison and Billy Sharp starting up front, but in the first game with that lineup Steve Morison suffered a Broken Ankle and it was announced he would be out for 3 months. The fans' morale at Leeds quickly dropped but the club still remained at the top of the table thanks to their fantastic start. Then, things finally changed for the better. Leeds finished November with 2 victories and 4 draws, and the month of December with 2 wins, 1 draw, and 2 defeats including victories against Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough. It may not seem like much but they were at least collecting points which kept them at the top of the table. The Whites went into the January transfer window in high spirits and in need of some serious reinforcements, as it was announced that their first FA Cup fixture of the season would be against their rivals Manchester United.
Transfer Window
Transfers Out
ST - Mirco Antenucci (Italy) (30yrs 69 OVR)
Sold to Parma for $1.3m
The Italian striker lasted only 6 months at Leeds before returning to Italy. Leeds' new owner's contacts in Italy brought Antenucci to the club, but new manager Chavez was never fond of the striker and wanted to find him a new club to make some room in the striker department which already had too many players.
CAM - Zan Benedicic (Slovenia) (19yrs 66 OVR)
Loaned to Ipswich Town
The young midfielder was able to score 2 goals as a B-Team substitute which no doubt caught the eye of Chavez, but the player publicly stated that he was unsettled and wanted a move away from Leeds. Chavez clearly does not want to lose him completely though, and so he has sent him out on loan to Ipswich. The staff are expected to sit down with Benedicic at the end of the season to discuss how the player feels about returning to Leeds or leaving West Yorkshire.
ST - Edgar Cani (Albania) (25yrs 64 OVR)
Sold to Birmingham for $725k
The 6'4" striker was effective with Leeds under Chavez, mostly known for his goal against Crystal Palace in the Capitol One Cup that equalized the score line and forced Palace to a penalty shoot out, where Leeds prevailed before being eliminated by Liverpool. With so many strikers on the squad though it was difficult for Cani to find playing time and thus the staff have decided that it would be best for him to leave.
ST - Lewis Walters (England) (19yrs 61 OVR)
Loaned to Chesterfield FC
Being a youth graduate trying to find a place in the senior team is hard enough, but it is nearly impossible when you are 7th in line at Leeds. With an excess of strikers in the squad the staff decided that it would be best for Walters to go to Chesterfield where he can further develop his playing style and gain experience.
GK - Alex Cairns (England) (22yrs 59 OVR)
Loaned to Colchester United
The reserve goalkeeper was unable to make an appearance under Chavez and is now headed to Colchester where he will be hoping to get more playing time and also gain experience for his subsequent return to Leeds.
Transfers In
ST - Omar Bravo (Mexico) (68 OVR 34yrs)
Purchased from Guadalajara for $1m
Omar Bravo has just recently became Guadalajara's all-time top scorer in league play with 124 goals, and is just 6 goals away from becoming Guadalajara's all-time top scorer in all official competitions as he currently has 149 goals. Becoming Guadalajara's all-time league top scorer was a very emotional moment for him, but he has now agreed to return to Europe where he hopes to redeem himself after a poor stint at Deportivo La Coruña in 2008 where he only managed to score 1 goal in 9 official matches. His time at La Coruña affected him so much he wasn't able to pick up his form again until finally returning to Guadalajara. Bravo isn't a tall striker, he's only 5'8", but he specializes in making runs in behind to the far post and is known for his tremendous volleys which he usually stays after training to practice. The Mexican striker is nearing the end of his career and we are not sure how long he will be able to keep up with the level of European football, but Leeds expect the experienced striker to solve their problems in attack.
CM - Conor Coady (England) (21yrs 65 OVR)
Purchased from Huddersfield Town for $1m + N'Goyi (66 OVR)
Coady is a Liverpool local that came up through Liverpool's youth academy. He was captain of the U21 side and was just starting to break in to the senior team when he was loaned out to Sheffield United. After his loan he was signed permanently by Huddersfield Town, and he is now heading off to Huddersfield's rivals Leeds United. A big change for the defensive midfielder, going from bottom of the table all the way to the top, but Chavez sees him as a player for the future. Leeds included the more experienced defensive midfielder from DR Congo N'Goyi in the deal, and Huddersfield are hoping that N'Goyi's experience can help them avoid relegation and stay in the FL Championship.
LM - Stuart Dallas (Northern Ireland) (23yrs 64 OVR)
Purchased from Brentford for $700k
Dallas was struggling to get consistent playing time at Brentford, who are struggling themselves at the bottom of the table, and he will be hoping to find more opportunities at Leeds where there is less wingers. In fact, natural wide midfielders are pretty scarce at Leeds at the moment so Dallas will definitely have more opportunities right off the bat. Dallas was given the #17 by Chavez, which did not sit well with Leeds' chairman Cellino who sees the number 17 as bad luck and is very superstitious.
RB - Steven Saunders (Scotland) (23yrs 61 OVR)
Purchased from Ross County for 350k
The final signing for Leeds is the Scottish right back from the Scottish Premier League. Saunders has been playing RB at Ross County this season but his preferred position is CB, and is expected to fit in nicely with the Leeds B-Team's back line of 3. Ross County had complicated the negotiations a bit by at first stating that Saunders was too important for the club and was not available for transfer. Chavez revised his offer and increased it to $350k which Ross County accepted almost immediately since Saunders' contract ends in the summer and this was their chance to at least get some funds from the player.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FA Cup - Round 5
Manchester United 1 - 2 Leeds United
LEE: Taylor (2)
MUN: Blind (1)
A shocker of a match at the Roses Rivalry with Leeds United unexpectedly triumphing over Manchester United. Chavez fielded a 5-4-1 formation as he had done against Liverpool in the Capitol One Cup, but this time he kept the 5-4-1 formation for the majority of the match unlike at Liverpool where he changed formations just a few minutes into the match. Leeds' homegrown left back Charlie Taylor (LM) was on a roll today, netting a brace that put his team through. In the first goal Rodolph Austin (LCM) sent a long, lobbed through ball to the left wing and Taylor was able to run past his marker Valencia who was caught flat footed. Taylor stepped into the box and barely managed to take a shot before the defenders reached him and his shot was too powerful for Victor Valdes to react in time.
In the second goal, Sam Byram (RM) sent an early cross looking for the new signing Omar Bravo (ST) who was making his debut today. Bravo was marked too closely to be able to take a shot on goal, so instead he knocked the ball back to the far post with the top of his head and Taylor was in the perfect position to smoothly put the ball in the back of the net with his inside foot.
A nice 2-0 advantage for Leeds that we truly weren't expecting but with the talent Manchester United has on the field you couldn't write them off just yet. Daley Blind scored in the final 15 minutes of the match that made the stadium go wild, but they didn't have enough time to equalize and the Championship side moved on to the next round being booed off the pitch at Old Trafford.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leeds went on to face Hull City in the FA Cup Round of 32 where they triumphed once again this time with a 1-0 victory and a goal by Omar Bravo. Leeds repeated the 5-4-1 formation and used it for the majority of the match before changing to a 5-3-2 in the closing minutes looking for the late goal which Bravo found. The club's form in the FA Cup have the fans dreaming for the title, but the announcement of the next fixture definitely sunk many of them. Leeds United are scheduled to face Liverpool in the Round of 16 at Anfield. The fans quickly remembered the 3-1 defeat they suffered against the Reds in the Capitol One Cup.
In the league Leeds have finally picked up their form. Chavez continues using the 4-4-1-1 formation in the league although it may be adjusted a little due to Mowatt's injury. The B-Team has been playing with a 3-5-2 formation given the team's lack of wingers. The new signings have been received well by the fans with Omar Bravo taking the spotlight. The Mexican striker has scored 4 goals in 5 matches, which has the fans more excited than ever since before his arrival the strikers were struggling to score. Stuart Dallas is the only player that has been struggling to find his form with his new club, and many are starting to wonder if the number 17 really is bad luck...
FL Championship League Table
1. Leeds United - 59 points
2. Watford - 54 points
3. Brighton & Hove Albion - 48 points
4. Derby County - 46 points
5. Fulham - 43 points
6. Wigan Athletic - 43 points
---------------
22. Blackpool - 27 points
23. Brentford - 24 points
24. Huddersfield Town - 24 points
Leeds United Top Scorer (All Competitions)
1. Billy Sharp - 8 Goals
2. Adryan - 7 Goals
Alex Mowatt - 7 Goals
Conclusion
I have finally made the jump up to Legendary. I wanted to play Legendary in a league 1 career that I have plans for, but that career has been postponed until FIFA 16. It was difficult to adjust to the legendary and I was drawing a lot of matches but I've gotten the hang of it now and it is really fun. I'm still using the default sliders though. The only changes I've made to the sliders are that the opposing team's injury sliders have been reduced all the way 0, and I've also decreased the opposing team's goalkeeper slider from 50 to 45. With the goalkeeper slider at 50 I felt it was unfair since every goalkeeper played like Iker Casillas and they were often MOTM. With the slider at 45 they still play well but they're not flawless like before. I hadn't thought of it before but do you think I should also decrease my goalkeeper's slider to 45? I barely thought of it right now but I think it would only be fair if I made my slider equal to theirs. Legendary is really fun though and so far I haven't scored more than 2 goals in a match, which I think is pretty realistic.
I signed Steven Saunders because I remember he was a key player in my Scotland team during my Wimbledon career but I was surprised to see his overall so low. I checked SoFIFA and his overall and potential are indeed lower than in 14. I think a lot of it has to do with his position being changed from CB to RB though. He played with the B-Team already and he played really well at CB. I hope I can help him grow past his potential and maybe even get him a Scotland cap.
Adryan has started to impress me. Since he was sort of a flop at the beginning of the season I thought I would cash him in in the transfer window but his recent performances with the B-Team made me reconsider. He's playing really well and starting to slowly break into the First Team.
Morison's injury has allowed our French striker Doukara to show what he's got, and he's definitely caught my eye. He's big, he's strong, and if it weren't for the injury I probably wouldn't have had a chance to take a good look at him since he was 4th in line in our original 7 striker set up. It'll be tough to decide who will continue to start with the B-Team when Morison returns.
Well I think I've pretty much covered everything I have so,
Thanks For Reading!

In the past we've had both a Wycombe and a Dagenham career on here, so have you guys seen Wycombe's goal celebration with the ball boy already? Amazing stuff literally put a smile on my face. I freaking love football :')

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Bologna S03
Transfer/Squad Review
OUT: Marcel Büchel — 73 OVR/age 25/Switzerland — €1,300,000 to Lazio
Marcel was unhappy about his reserve status over the last couple of years, and being told he wouldn't feature in the first team yet again just upset him even more. Despite having wonderful stats for a reserves player, Marcel has never really won me over. Lazio offered to take him off my hands for almost half his value, but I didn't want to make problems and let him go right away.
IN: Werther Carboni — 70 OVR/age 20/Italy — €1,000,000 from Cagliari
We relied on Koen Casteels last year after selling Angelo Da Costa for a big fee, and the Belgian from Wolfsburg was not eager to join us again because he knew his playing time would be limited. Carboni is a young and promising goalkeeper who was available for an absolute pittance considering the room he has to grow. We didn't have to think twice to get this deal over the line.
IN: Pierluigi Gollini — 58 OVR/age 21/Italy — €200,000 from Hellas Verona
Pierluigi is very much a reserve player, but once again he has room to grow and develop even without playing much. I like having three goalkeepers in the squad, and it's nice that I can rely on our internal system to provide it instead of having to go hunting every summer. That stability is a huge plus.
IN: Daniele Rugani — 75 OVR/age 22/Italy — €3,900,000 from Juventus
I said last season that a defender would be one of our two most important signings. Daniele brings strength and aggression to our defence, combining that with precise tackling and the ability to read what will happen. He's one of the outstanding Italian players of this generation, and it feels like a steal to pick him up from Juventus at this price, even if he asked for a transfer.
IN: Felipe Melo — 81 OVR/age 33/Brazil — €5,000,000 from Galatasaray
We departed from buying young, promising Italian talent in order to sign the highly experienced Felipe Melo. He combines defensive ability with incredible passing and impressive fitness you'd expect of a younger lad. Felipe is also
no stranger to Serie A, having played for Fiorentina and Juventus prior to his Turkish adventure. The experience he brings can't be taken for granted.
IN: Elia Zampano — 72 OVR/age 18/Italy — Season loan from Juventus
I was really surprised that Juventus agreed to loan us this fast, agile winger with fantastic dribbling and crossing. Considering they play a 4-4-2 diamond with no wingers, I suppose it was sensible of them to let Elia out on loan to a club where he could get regular games, if not an outright starting berth. I have no issues, though. We added depth to our attack for only the player's wages of €20,000, though Juventus said nothing doing about a future fee.
Substitutes: Carboni, Douglas (72), Chapuis (69), Casarini (70), Zampano, Riverola (73), Bentancourt (69)
Reserves: Gollini, Radakovic (67), Zuculini (74), Suárez (65), Cornet (66)
We now play in my preferred formation of 3-5-2. None of Rugani, Oikonomou or Maietta has pace to burn, so positioning and interceptions will be vital if we want to avoid leaking goals. The holding midfield pair of Felipe Melo (ball winner) and Cataldi (deep-lying playmaker) will help us control and influence games. Cataldi seems a controversial choice as a CDM, but 72 interceptions and 79 vision make him the perfect heir to Andrea Pirlo. On the flanks are a pair of wing backs who combine speed, stamina and defensive ability with crossing and physicality. Ikoko looks especially perfect for the role. In the hole is Bernardeschi, who is our best player by some distance with 85 in ball control and dribbling, 82 in short passing, 78 in vision, 77 in attack position, and 75 in long shots. In attack we pair the speedy and clinical Mancosu as our poacher with the more technically gifted Yesil, who blends dribbling and passing with a keen eye for goal (78 finishing, 77 ball control, 76 dribbling).
Notable names missing out on the first team but likely to be important from the bench and over the course of the season include Douglas, who has lost his place to Ikoko outright after the Frenchman had a storming preseason in which he provided assists for four of the five goals we scored while helping concede none. Chapuis looks like he will feature more frequently this season due to Maietta's poor stamina, and Casarini is our utility man. Zampano and Riverola will be our key impact substitutes when we need to inject pace and creativity, and Bentancourt has proven that he will score in tight situations.
The likes of Radakovic, Suárez and Cornet probably won't feature too often this season unless we need to rotate the squad, and one or two could even be on the way out in 2017. The shock omission from the first team, Franco Zuculini, finds himself with the reserve players due to his poor attitude. He's been complaining since the start of July, first about his wages despite being bumped up at the start of last season, and then later about not being used in preseason despite knowing full well that Felipe Melo needed the games to settle in with the squad. I tried to sell him, but we didn't have enough time to complete a move, so he'll be one of the first names out the door during the winter transfer window. He'll probably bring in a good €3-4 million or so.
Tactically, we're going with a blend of short passing and quick movement up the pitch. The central defenders have all been asked to stay deep, but not so deep that they open up huge gaps between them and the pair of holding midfielders, who are being asked to stay back while we attack. The men on the wings have a duty to come back and help out in defence, but they also need to stay wide in order to receive the ball when our midfielders face any pressure they can't handle. Our trequartista has been given full license to move about the final third as he wishes, with Mancosu pressing defences while Yesil tries to get behind them for a central through ball or wide cross.
I expect to lose at least two or three of my first 10 games while learning to adjust to a three-man defence after two seasons of 4-2-3-1, but once the system clicks and form hits higher levels, I think we can easily qualify for a Europa League spot as long as we stay focused on the task. Last season, it was a combination of arrogance and poor fitness that cost us the chance to play in Europe. That may have been a blessing in disguise, but we have to turn it around this year, especially since I promised the board we would.
