How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going? - Operation Sports Forums

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know OS now has an official Discord that you can join right now. We’ve kicked around Discords for individual games in the past, but it felt like the right time to make it more of an official thing.

Steve and I have wanted to get this going for a bit because we obviously still hear from y’all who are unhappy with some stuff on the forums, plus when there are forum outages we still want to have a place for everyone to hang. My overarching goal for the longer term is to have both Discord and the forums ultimately work together. There are some logistical issues with the vBulletin forums that don’t allow things to sync right with Discord so there will be a little maneuvering as we try to get mods and forum members any proper roles/tags they need on the Discord, but we can work through that stuff easily enough as people join.

Our general goal is to give people more options to interact with OS community members, whether that’s Discord, the forums, this newsletter, or improved apps. If people want to stick more to the forums, that’s cool. If people want to stick more to the Discord, that’s also cool. In my perfect world, we do a lot of BSing and day-to-day chatting on the Discord about games and sports, and then more of the “in-depth” discussions or hefty things like long slider breakdowns or analysis of gameplay end up on the forums so that can act as a sort of “best of” area for anything OS community related. That said, you all will ultimately shape how the ecosystem shakes out, I just want to give you spaces you like so you can have a good time with other folks in the community.

The same general rules will apply on the Discord as they do on the forums, and we’ve brought most of the forum categories to the Discord as well so there should not be too much confusion as you navigate around.

With the Operation Sports and Discord announcement now out there, it’s also worth mentioning our OS premium newsletter, which quietly launched a couple of weeks ago. Built off the Not Just Another Roster Update newsletter, it offers a mix of retrospectives, guides, interviews and deeper dives into the sports gaming world—covering both current and classic titles.

There's apparently a huge patch coming to Xbox One in the next few days or so that makes a massive difference to gameplay. I think I'm going to wait on it until I begin with Carpi. It's insane to see some of you have already finished a whole season. Loving the passion!

My Thought's

We have hit a bad run of form at the worst time possible and have now slipped from 6th to 8th. We could have overtook Bor.Dortmund had we got the results but now we have to focus on the remaining 4 fixtures and hope that those above us drop points. I can't complain about the performances at all we have been playing some good football at times, just lack that killer instinct in front of goal, even Thorgan Hazard is struggling in front of goal at the moment. We seem to be conceding first in every game which is making every game even more of a challenge which isn't ideal and is something we need to work on. We will now go into every game like its our cup final and will give everything to try and finish in that top 6 come the end of the season.

Very glad to see this is underway. I'm not sure what formation you plan on using, but I've found that two strikers is almost required to create enough chances in FIFA16. I suggest you try a traditional 4-4-2 since the lack of a number 10 doesn't seem to be as big a problem as it was in FIFA 15.

So.. I’ve decided to start a career mode with 1. FC Nürnberg. They’re in the 2nd Bundesliga and looking for promotion as soon as possible. This seems like a fun team to use with a decent budget and some decent players.

Q. Let’s start off with the obvious. Welcome to the club. What’s your plan for the future?
A. Thanks. First of all, I would like to thank the board for trusting me and signing me. I’m confident enough to say that I will try my very best for this club. My plans are quite clear, as off now. I want to promote to the Bundesliga as fast as possible, and I want to build one of the best youth academies.

Q. Let’s talk about the youth academy. We understand that you want to use the youth academy to recruit young players and talented players from all over the world. How is this going to work?
A. Well, obviously those players won’t be starting at the beginning. They have a trial at our club for a few months to show us their potential and their mind set. The players whom impress me and the club will be signed on a youth contract. Then they’ll have enough space and time to develop into world class players.

Q. Interesting take on. We’re excited to see how that’s going to work. About the summer transfer window; your budget isn’t going to be big. How are you going to spend the amount that you got?
A. I’m looking at a few players that I want to sign on a loan deal. I think that we need to look at those constructions, because it will strengthen our squad and add some depth as well. I’m not looking for particular positions or players, though.

My Thoughts
This season has got off to a great start. Our aim this season is to achieve a mid-table finish and I have played my first month of games without a loss. We also managed to beat Spurs, which was not an easy task. We were very late at adding to the squad in this window, so the players that we have added have not really featured so far.

Okazaki (ST) is the stand out player so far, scoring 5 goals in the opening 4 games. Vardy (ST) has been great in a wide position so far, grabbing two assists. I chose to have him out wide because we have 3 other strikers who would play best as the target man, and Vardy has the pace to cause trouble on the outside. Kasper Schmeichal (GK) is also in good form at the moment, making some great saves and keeping me in a lot of games. He will be key for us this season.

New ownership appoints Alan Shearer as Magpies manager

In an unprecedented move, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has agreed to terms to return to Tyneside to fill the club's manager role, left vacant after management's sacking of John Carver. Newcastle's all-time leading goalscorer and former England captain, Shearer will immediately forego his duties as long-time BBC pundit to take over his new role with the Magpies.

As you can recall, this is not Shearer's first go-around as Newcastle manager; he was appointed as the interim manager in 2008-09 for the club's final eight Premier League matches in an attempt to save the club from relegation. The team ultimately failed and Shearer was replaced at season's end by Chris Hughton. This, however, will be Shearer's first full-time managing gig since retiring from football.

In terms of what exactly Shearer has planned at Tyneside, that remains to be seen. Based on his passion for the club, and based on comments he has made at BBC, one would expect the legend to look to grow the Newcastle brand, along with the trophy case, globally. Look for a resurgence in an attempt to grow the youth academy under Shearer, who has been critical of the club in the past.

The new ownership group is not only excited about bringing Shearer back to the club full-time, but willing to immediately back his plans financially, something fans were critical of former owner Mike Ashley for never fully doing. Coming off a mere 15th place finish in the Premier League, the club has already made a splash in the transfer market heading into the 2015-16 season. Look for that to continue, and then some, with the appointment of Shearer.

A great start to the month by comfortably beating Sassuolo at the Stadio Olympico. Wingers Candreva and Anderson both bagged a goal each while veteran German Miroslav Klose also got on the score sheet.

A hard loss to take especially after being a man up for almost the entire second half. Marchetti had a howler when he left in Cuadrado's near post shot with 9 minutes remaining.

A Klose brace was enough to secure a much needed 3 points. The 36 year old showed his poacher instincts to slot home a rebound from Anderson 's first time effort. Antonio Candreva created the chance superbly. Klose then used his strength to hold off the defender, allowing the ball to run into his path before he finished low past the keeper. Federico Marchetti managed to keep Ibarbo and Cagliari out, earning MOTM and a clean sheet.

This was a lot closer than it should have been. Djordjevic scored a brace after being given the chance to start while Galano also scored a brace for Bari. The 89th minute equalizer was a devastating rebound. Goalkeeper Etrit Berisha was the hero of the shootout, saving one before scoring the deciding penalty. AC Milan will be our Last 16 opponents.

A disappointing result to say the least, as we have to win these games if we want to be challenging for the title. Antonio Candreva scored a tap in to equalize the match after Verdi opened for the hosts. We unfortunately wasted chances to turn the draw into a win and now must prepare for the challenge of Chievo Verona in our next game.

A rock solid defensive display in which Stefan de Vrij and Lorik Cana were central to. The made 7 clearances, won 2 headers, made 5 interceptions and made 3 tackles between them in an impressive performance. Marchetti kept his 6th league clean sheet while Fillip Djordjevic scored his 3rd goal in 2 games when Candreva found the Serbian at the back post for an easy tap in.

End of Season Thought's
We underachieved this season and it was ultimately our inconsistencies that cost us. A 7th place finish isn't disastrous don't get me wrong, but looking at the point's that we dropped with all the games we drew, we could have easily snuck into that top 4 but we will look to put that right next season. Thorgan Hazard has a remarkable season for us with 18 goals and 6 assists and scooped not the clubs player of the year award but also the Bundesliga player of the year and we will be doing everything in our power to hold onto him for next season. Recruitment has already begun and we will look to address our weaknesses ahead of the new season. We will use Pre-Season to see who we will be selecting for the 25 man squad list for the upcoming 2016/17 Bundesliga Campaign.

I'm Dissapointed to say that I have been relieved of my duties as manager of Bor.M'gladbach after they deemed the season not good enough. I felt that we were building something good for the upcoming season but the board had differnt ideas.
I have however accepted a job from another Bundesliga club so expect an update soon.

I also recommend you try out the 4-3-3 attack. If you want Payet to run the show, there is no system that gets the most out of a solitary CAM the way this one does. I played about a dozen games as Chelsea using this formation. Fabregas assisted 14 of the 17 goals I scored in that time. All you need are a pair of quick players cutting inside onto a target man. Try it out for sure.

He’s a constant thread and he’s breaking many defences down. It’s good to have such fast and technical winger in our club. Too bad that he’s here on a temporarily loan deal.

So there was a lot of movement in the window, mainly departures rather than arrivals but we did manage to bring in 4 players alongside the arrival of Daniel Didavi on a Pre Contract. The first of those arrivals was a double swoop for Andreas Christensen & Martin Odegaard for a combined fee of £2,200,000. These are two players I know well from my time at Bor.M'gladbach and I was determined to bring these two players with me and continue their development here at Bremen. We also bought in Swiss midfielder Steven Zuber from 1899 Hoffenheim for a fee of £1,500,000 + Yildrim. Zuber is a talented midfielder who we see as someone who can add not only assists but also goals to the side. He is a player with a good right foot and has a good shot on him. The final signing is one of the hottest prospect in German football Timo Werner who arrives for a small £500,000 + Gebre Selassie, a deal which we were determined to complete. Still only 20 Werner already has a lot of experience and is destined to for great things. We see him as a great investment for the future and is someone who can make a real difference in this side. Although a midfielder, he is a player that I see myself converting into a striker as he improves his game.

So we have made a terrific start to the season with only 1 loss as well as winning 7 of our first 10 games. Aaron Johansson has been in really good form of late scoring 5 goals but to be honest everybody is performing at the moment. Even in the loss to Dortmund we still had a real go and on another day would have come away with all 3 points. The new boys have all settled in really well with Odegaard on 1 goal & 2 assists, Zuber on 2 assists, Werner on 1 goal & 2 assists, Didavi on 2 goals and down the other end Christensen has helped keep 5 cleans sheets so it has been a good summer recruitment process for us. As it stands we currently have the best goal difference and have scored the most as well as conceded the least, a good combination. We know hope to carry this form on into the January period and we will see where we are then.

Just finished my first season. Objective was to win the league, but I ended up winning the promotion playoffs to get promoted to League 1.

End of season comes, and I'm sacked.
