I should have my first monthly update for Bastia in the next few days. I've been sick and work has been kicking my butt, but I should have time to play Saint Etienne and do a write up by Friday or Saturday. I actually like 16 way better than 15.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Northeast Football Reeling
Football in the northeast of England is staring at a major crisis. The region's major clubs, Newcastle United and Sunderland AFC, are at risk of alienating two of the most passionate sets of supporters in Europe with continued failure to deliver on the immense resources at their disposal.
Newcastle, since finishing fifth in the 2011/12 season under Alan Pardew, have failed to crack the top half of the table barring one season in which they finished 10th. Sunderland, since finishing in that same position in 2010/11, have been caught in a perpetual fight for survival in the Premier League.
And now, the two are in similar situations with unpopular caretaker managers leaving major leadership vaccuums that need filling as soon as possible. John Carver was never the answer for Newcastle, and Dick Advocaat's refusal to stay on as permanent head coach of Sunderland is probably for the best.
Considering that both clubs have top-of-the-line stadiums and the backing of some of England's most dedicated fans, it staggers the mind to realise that neither has managed to enjoy a campaign free of the threat of relegation in recent years, let alone finishing high up the table or winning a cup competition.
But the winds seem to be changing for at least one of the nation's sleeping giants. While the Mike Ashley regime at St. James' Park shows no sign of relaxing its stranglehold over all things Newcastle United, Ellis Short looks ready to accept greater responsibility as chairman of Sunderland.
Short – who understands finally that his manager carousel has done nothing to improve the long-term future of Sunderland – is said to have accepted failure in trying to run the club like those in Spain and Italy, with a head coach and director of football. Those in the know say he is ready to go back to the manager model.
When managers such as Sam Allardyce and Brendan Rodgers are available, Sunderland fans could be forgiven if it proves true that Short is prepared to appoint a promising but unproven assistant coach from England's second division. But according to reliable sources, that's exactly what is poised to happen.
Indi Blue, the assistant first team coach at Brighton & Hove Albion, is thought to be the leading candidate to replace Dick Advocaat in the dugout at the Stadium of Light. Those in charge believe him to have the same potential Sir Alex Ferguson showed at Aberdeen, long before the treble and the knighthood.
One could argue (with validity) that Ferguson had already won a number of trophies with Aberdeen before he was made boss of Manchester United, including the European Cup Winners Cup. It was that winning history that convinced United's board to give him full control of the way the club was run.
Blue, if he shows even a portion of Ferguson's acumen and winning ability, could prove to be the smartest move in Sunderland's proud history. And while there is little doubt that many of the top people at England's biggest clubs agree that he has the potential, it is still a huge risk appointing such a raw talent as manager.
Even more pressing is the level of freedom Blue will be given at the Stadium of Light. Will he be given final say on transfers or total control? Once he brings in his own people, what if he wants those who don't buy into his philosophy sacked? As it is with any young manager, will his subordinates respect and obey him?
These are questions that Short and the Sunderland board must address before making the decision to appoint not just Blue, but any new manager. Once they lock in their man, they must then resist the pressure to pull the trigger when the inevitable slump in form or bad season rears its head.
Bringing in new coaches every season offers no promise of improvement or sustained growth. What the club needs now is someone who can give it an identity, just as Brian Clough did for Nottingham Forest and Arsène Wenger has done for Arsenal. It would be a shame to see this opportunity wasted.Last edited by indiblue; 11-19-2015, 06:25 AM.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Any suggestions for players that would be realistic for Lazio? Mainly looking for fullbacks and a centre half. Ideas for other positions are welcomed too however. Still playing '15 so keep that in mind! I just want you guys to be more involved in the career. Thanks guys!Comment

Bastia Player of the Month
CAM Christopher Maboulou, 72 Ovr, 25 years old, Congo
Christopher Maboulou edged out Floyd Ayité as Bastia's Player of the Month for August largely due to the fact that Ayité missed two penalties on the month, including a costly one that could have pulled out a draw for The Blues at Saint-Étienne. Maboulou's natural role is as a striker, but manager Urs Meier has opted to place the Congolese player in the attacking midfield. Maboulou found the back of the net twice in a 3-0 opening day win versus Rennes, while also earning Man of the Match honors. He created many more chances throughout the month, but Bastia found scoring goals more difficult after their initial success.

Manager's Thoughts
An up-and-down month as our club is really struggling to find consistency. We exploded out of the gate with a stunning 3-0 win over Rennes, followed by a solid 0-0 draw at league leaders Marseille. However, we dropped 2 of our last 3 matches in the month, and in 3 of our 5 matches we failed to score a goal. The transfer window is still open, but we have limited funds. With that being said, I would like to find at least one attacking player to give more punch to our offense. 7th place isn't bad, considering the board only requires us to avoid relegation, but I'm still frustrated as I felt we let some points slip away, particularly because we missed a couple penalties we should have buried.
September 2015 - Schedule
9/19 - vs Nice
9/23 - at Lyon
9/26 - vs Toulouse
I'm gunning for 6 out of a possible 9 points with this month as we should beat Nice and Toulouse if we can be more opportunistic on our chances. Lyon will be incredibly tough, but Alexandre Lacazette has handed in a surprise transfer request, so we may not have to face such a great player. I know it's a long shot, but I would love to qualify for Europe. After a mediocre August, we need to step things up if we are to achieve such lofty dreams.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
I hadn't thought about it until now, but I think you're on to something. I don't feel as addicted as I have in previous FIFAs. And I think we're all feeling it cause this thread has never been this slow this time of year. I mean the game barely came out like 2 months ago and everyone's already somewhat bored. As for me, I have fun playing but I think it's only because I'm using my favorite team. One thing I have noticed is that it is rare when I have 60% or more possession. It's either always balanced, slightly in the opponents favor, or it's completely in the opponents favor. I've been playing on legendary for this whole career though so I'm not sure if that's why.

The Games
Lazio 2-1 FSV Mainz
Stamanakis 19' (Klose)
Koo Ja Cheol 42'
Rozzi 50' (Anderson)
Young players were given a chance here against Mainz, including youth products, Stamanakis and Sciaudone. Experienced heads Klose and Ciani were also included with Felipe Anderson on the wing. It was the 37 year old German who made the opener, playing a one-two with Angelos Stamanakis who finished it coolly. Mainz equalized a couple of minutes before halftime then Rozzi restored our lead with a header from Anderson's corner. It was a good game with Aké and Cataldi impressing in midfield and Stamanakis in the No. 10 position.
Manchester City 2-1 Lazio
Keita 41'
Toure 83'
Aguero 90'
Our strongest lineup took an against the run of play 1-0 lead into the dressing room at halftime. Keita on hand to knock the ball into the net. City got some of their own luck with the equalizer deflecting off Onazi and over Marchetti. Aguero grabbed the win in the dying moments when he was played through and there was no way he was going to miss. Debutants Santon, Ranocchia and Montoya performed well in a totally new back four.
Lazio 1-0 Angers SCO
Gonzalez 13'
Aké 36'

Review
Firstly the transfers, I managed to get 4 young players loaned out of which Minala and Lombardi have good potential. I would have liked to have gotten a couple more loaned out or sold off but with Europa League football this season, that could be a blessing in disguise. On to the sales, Djordjevic is obviously the big one, he did well last season when he played but he never really displaced either Klose or Paloschi as the main striker. €17m for a thrid choice striker is a no brainer in my opinion. The youngster Bryan Perea is more than capable of being our 3rd striker and, along with Tounkara, will get plenty of time this season, especially early on in Europe. Radu wanted to leave so I gladly take €6.5m for him while I wanted to reduce the age of my midfield and Biglia was the first one to be approached out of him, Parolo and Ledesma. €6m from Valencia will be put to good use in January. Cana and Basta were two defenders over 30 that weren't going to get a look in as backups because I want Rugani and Ake to see some action this season. Unfortunately for Elez, we felt it was best for him to find regular football elsewhere.
The arrivals are plenty self explanatory, Klose isn't getting any younger so we decided to bring in Italian forward Zaza who has a bright future and can compete for the second striker with Klose. We feel the challenge will benefir both players. Montoya and Santon are both quality fullbacks with the added bonus of Davide being Italian. We wanted to upgrade our fullbacks this summer and we truly did that. Wanting to bring some extra beef into the midfield, the little Chilean pittbull, Gary Medel was brought in from league rivals Inter. Our original target was Sandro of Spurs but he was unwillingly to move to Italy. Having said that, we are more than happy with Medel. Saul has big things in his future and is even good enough to start now, at 20. He was brought in to bring youth to the midfield alongside Onazi, Cataldi and Stamanakis. Rannochia also arrived on a pre-contract from Inter and will take a starting place in defence, partnering de Vrij.
Preseason went fairly well with good wins over Mainz of Germany and Ligue 2 side Angers. The blue half of Manchester gave us our only defeat of our German tour. They simply had us under pressure all game, we coped well in defence until a deflection beat Marchetti and then when we pressed for a winner, Aguero's pace and quality got us on the break. Overall we learned some good things in preseason.
Lineup
Subs: Berisha (72), Ciani (74), Parolo (76), Ederson (75), Anderson (75), Klose (79), Zaza (75)
Reserves: Sciaudone (64), Strakosha (65), Catadli (70), Stamanakis (72), Rozza (70), Vinicius (65), Ake (68), Rugani (68), Perea (73), Tounkara (65), Filippini (63), Ledesma (75), Cavanda (72), Gonzalez (73), Lulic (77)
Thanks for Reading!Comment

Montoya, Ranocchia, Santon, Medel, and Saul. Big changes to the lineup with those guys being inserted into the Starting XI. I like Zaza too (even though he's a substitute for now). Good looking squad and interested to see how you do in Serie A and Europe.Comment
