Other teams that would be fun in my opinion:

Germany:

Bayer Leverkusen, VfL Wolfsburg, FC Augsburg, Werder Bremen.

Leverkusen have a good squad with many very good young players and they are very interesting to watch in real life, especially since they have a good and fast attack. Wolfsburg slot pretty much into the same category. Augsburg on the other hand are having a terrible season right now and they could use some improvements. Bremen are just a midtable team with a 'meh' squad.

France:

Stade Rennais, Olympique de Marseille.

Rennais have an interesting squad with a mixture of youth and age and they resigned Gourcouff in the summer. They also have the pacy Ntep. Marseille on the other hand got demolished in the summer as they lost half of their squad and they haven't been able to reach the days of glory of the past.

Italy:

Roma, Palermo, Sassuolo.

Roma are a very good team with many good players and winning the scudetto and challenging for the CL title would be a good read. Palermo have a poor squad and pink kits. Sassuolo have the gem Berardi, at least on loan, and they tend to steal points from the bigger teams.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm liking Stoke too with them bringing in players like Shaqiri etc. I'll definitely keep the other teams that you have suggested too in mind when I choose my next career!

@Sportsfreak, I voted for Paris FC because I like the idea of another Paris team rising up to challenge PSG at the top of the league. Good luck with whoever you decide to use!

Our visit to Portugal turned out to be an exciting one. We breezed through the group round undefeated with some cracking goals, such as Coloccini's 20-yard strike against Werder Bremen and Aarons' volley against Gijón. It ended pathetically, but I gained a bit of insight into what my best side is.

We lost the final primarily because of my team selection. I went with Tioté and Anita in holding midfield, which would have been fine if I hadn't dropped Wijnaldum for Sissoko in the hole. The midfield was too static, leaving us with no creativity in the final third. We created too few chances, if any.

The defending wasn't good enough, and while I'm sure Mbemba will bounce back into form against Southampton in our opening Premier League match, Coloccini seems at the end of his time at Newcastle. Lascelles displayed a great measure of maturity in Portugal. I'd say he's ready for the first team.

This save differs slightly where it will be more centered around me as a manager - I'll be taking jobs as and when I see fit; It's not about the club as much/

I voted for 1860 Munich pretty much because they are German. I love the Bundesliga and playing in it is nice. I also like the idea of the little brother becoming the dominant force.

It's great to see that the forum looks to be picking itself up again with all the strawpolls around. I look forward to reading about all of these once they are posted. Sorry I have not been around very much and sorry that I haven't commented on anyone's strawpolls and careers for while due to being limited on free time.

Seems like most will have FIFA 16 soon... Might have to upgrade to 16 myself and crack on with a Barnet career if I have enough time

Just finished my first season with Wolfsburg. It was a rocky season, it got eliminated in our round 32 game of the pokal, and in the group stage of the Champions. I decided to start with summer window disabled to make it realistic.

I was having a hard time finding a good formation, when I did I was already out of the competitions. When the January window came I went to town though. I only bought players with expiring contracts so I got them on the cheap on January and didn't wait for the season to end.

I got Pato, Feghouli, Bellarin, Bazoer, Sule and Kramer.

Naldo wanted out and Real got him and Luiz Gustavo, got sold to Schalke.

With these players I was able to go from 9th to 4th and clinching a Champions League spot, at least my season wasn't a total mess.

This off-season I went after players with expiring contracts again. I got Gotze and Howedes for 20mil each. Also bought Fischer from Ajax, Berahino from West Brom. Sold Kruse to Bayern for 50mil and shipped Bendtner, Dante and Jung out.

Hopefully now this new season I'll do better in Europe since I got a better team.

Haidara's height isn't great, but he has decent pace and defending to make up for it. Aarons gets back well enough because of the Come Back On Defence instruction, so I don't really have much of an issue. But certainly not a player I would continue with past the first season. Not on the wing at least, and certainly not in the starting team. Coloccini, meanwhile, looks like he might be lucky to get 10 games this season.

Aarons is going to be one of my key players, for sure. I've already got one eye on him taking that number 10 spot in a couple of seasons. He's already a good dribbler, and that will only improve as he plays. Training has begun to make him more well-rounded in passing and shooting. The rest of my spine is going to include Adam Armstrong, who's out on loan; Jamaal Lascelles, who's really stepped up in preseason; and a promising goalkeeper and deep-lying playmaker, who I will splurge on in the next two windows.

I had the pleasure of watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens today and man, that movie was great! JJ Abrams did a very good job with the movie. The characters feel real and they are well built, there is real chemistry between the actors, the action scenes are fast-paced and thrilling, the lightsaber combat looks amazing and real instead of it being over-choreographed or just dudes poking with sticks and the camerawork is beautiful. My only problems are that I have to wait two years for the next one and that the movie had many Star Wars (or A New Hope)-like moments in it. This might be a small spoiler, even though it's not giving any plot aspects away, but there is a Starkiller base in the film and it's basically a third Death Star.

Overall it is a very good movie! Much, much better than the prequels but not as good as Star Wars or Empire Strikes Back. Still, it's a great film.

Also, yes, I do know that it comes out on the 18th in America :P

Hey guys..

So, I've been thinking for the past few days. The problem is that I didn't keep up with my own updates of my OGC Nice career, which resulted in me taking notes but not posting anything. I've posted the roundup of the first season, and that was my last post. But I'm in my fourth season right now, and I've been thinking of posting details of those seasons, or just continue and update from here on.

I've decided to do the latter, and I'm terribly sorry. I promise that I won't do this again on my next career

Anyway, here's the current XI (fourth season)

I'm still running a 4321 (X-Mas tree formation) and truly liking it. I'm playing with 5 offensive players, and 5 defensive players. I kept Biglia on Stay Back, so he rarely contributes offensively. This grants me a 5-man defence, which I really like.

Starting XI;

GK: Dragowski (85) (Ab-so-lute monster. He wanted to leave just a few months ago, but luckily he turned around and signed a new contract. He’s still just 21!)

RB: Lichtsteiner (78) (Retires after this season, but what a player. Dominated that right flank)

CB: Boscagli (83) (Our own product turned out to be a beast. He turned out as a decent playmaker as well, definitely keeping him.)

CB: Kompany (86) (Bought for just 19 million! his contract was running out, so I swooped him up)

LB: Juan Bernat (83) (Probably the most skilful wingback in the game. After Alaba, that is. Silky smooth dribbling, amazing crosses, and decent defensively)

CM: Coutinho (86) (Bought for 50 million after I sold Angel Correa for 50.5 million. Correa couldn't score at all, whilst Coutinho is on 7 goals after 8 matches. I rest my case)

CDM: Biglia (84) (He just went down, so I have to replace him soon. Absolute beast in midfield. If you're looking for a solid CDM who has outstanding passing qualities, look no further.)

CM: Ben Arfa (83) (I placed him on the midfield after the summer transfer period because I signed Correa and Brahimi. Tried him as a CM, and he’s so good. He contributes way more as a central midfielder, because he doesn’t push forward that much. He’s probably one of the best dribblers in game, absolute machine)

LF: Brahimi (83) (Started on the bench, but worked himself into the starting eleven. Has the same problem as Correa, which is the fact that he rarely scores. But, unlike Correa, this man dribbles past defenders all day. Fast, very technical, and a decent passer. I like him, especially just in-between the CM’s and the striker. Bought him for just 17 million, only had 12 months left on his contract)

RF: Niang (83) Love-hate relationship with this man. Every time when I’m on the brink of taking him out of the squad he turns up and scores a hattrick or something like that. He’s like Balotelli. Rarely useful, but when he’s finally giving it all then he demolishes everything in his path. Won’t sell him though)

ST: Ben Yedder (84) (Yes, 84 isn’t really that high for a striker in a team that is challenging for the title and the champions league. But his stats are unreal. 91 finishing, 90 jumping, 89 dribbling, and so on. He’s my kind of striker. I don’t like strong, slow goal poachers. I want a striker who can dribble, and take on defenders. This man can do just that. 5* weak foot helps a lot, plus the fact that he scores whenever he wants. He’s so consistent as well. He’s been the topscorer of the Ligue 1 since his first season at the club, scoring 21, 22, and 22 goals. He finished second last season on the Assist charts as well. What a player)

BENCH:
Hendrix (81) (He’s still decent, but no longer first squad material. Too bad. Biglia outshines him)
Yedlin (76) (This man is fast. Basically his only quality, though)
Dier (83) (Massive growth on this man. Backup CB and CDM)
Sisokko (80) (I like him. Bulky midfielders are always good to have as a backup. Only costed me about 12 million)
Rémy (82) (Signed on a pre-contract from Chelsea. Decent back up striker. Does his job whenever called upon)
Cabaye (76) (Bought for 8 million. Overpaid a lot, but what the heck. I wanted another playmaker that sits deep between the centerbacks)
Fernandinho (82) (It’s usually either him or Brahimi. When Brahimi doesn’t play, Fernandinho takes Coutinho his spot and Coutinho moves to the LF position)

Rivierez (58, youth academy)
Thomas (58, youth academy)

I've heard great things about him and he's apparently the best hidden gem in the game. Speaking of which, I'm totally signing him up in the summer with Hertha.

Edit: I think Stoke could use some younger, English fullbacks and a younger central midfielder. The Chelsea squad is quite perfect. If you could get a good price for them, the likes of Jon Flanagan, Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers, Danny Rose and Aaron Cresswell could work. Good central midfielders would be Dele Alli, James Ward-Prowse, Ryan Mason, Jonjo Shelvey or Will Hughes.
