How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

So far my career mode with Guadalajara has went very well. I finished 1st in the Mexican Apertura (Mexico has 2 short leagues instead of 1 long league) and then won the playoff championship after defeating Cruz Azul with a resounding 8-2 aggregate score. With this I qualified for the Copa LatAm, which surprised me as I was expecting my championship to qualify me for the next season not this same one. America is the 2nd team from Mexico that also qualified so I think it's the champion of the Clausura and then the champion of Apertura the following season that qualify. I'm currently leading my group with 7 points followed by São Paulo (BRA), Deportes Tolima (not sure where they're from) and River Plate (ARG) it's been very challenging playing the Copa LatAm at the same time as the Mexican Clausura because of the calendar. I just played 4 games in 7 seven days. Managed to get 2 draws and 2 victories but my team is very tired both my starting and alternative lineups.

I'm only signing players that are signed IRL, and I remain loyal to the only Mexican players policy so I only scout in Mexico. Because the Mexican league is a farm for European leagues in the game, I plan to share my youth players with direct swaps to keep the league competitive. Many, many times I see teams sell their star striker to a European team and not make any transfers themselves to replace him so they field a 60 OVR striker the rest of the season. Nothing exciting from my academy yet I barely set it up in January because I am broke currently in March and sitting 3rd place of the league. My priority is the Copa LatAm.

Good start to the job, few issues aside from fatigue but I don't think you can escape that unless you move to an Australian or Saudi club. I've seen plenty of teams either stockpile players of one position or go nuts and refuse to sign replacements for their only one. When I was Nottingham Forest, Spurs sold Lloris and played Vertonghen in goal for 20-ish games. They conceded 48 goals in the first half of the season and were in 18th. Right now with Sunderland, Chelsea have Cech, Courtois, Sirigu, Walker, Blackman, Hilario and Begovic as keepers. I might raid them for a shot stopper in January!

Ideally yes, because terminating a several-year contract worth 60k/week would cost you millions in release fees. By swapping him for someone on a one-year deal who earns less than 5k per week, you only spend a few hundred thousand to terminate the deal.

Ah yes. That seems so obvious now! Cheers.

Right!? Same thing here, in the January window (disabled 1st transfer window) Chelsea signed Sirigu which I thought was odd as 1. Cech is still a beast and 2. They have Courtois coming back in 6 months.

Seeing as every single player in my team (except my 3rd keeper) is fatigued, I know I have to have a good youth academy for next season so they can be rotated. I have 10 players coming back on loan next season (7 already loaned out, 3 I loaned out) but I only plan to keep about 4. I'm also planning on extending my scouting system to the United States but only accept players with a Hispanic name like Kevin Perez or Carlos Johnson and just pretend that they are USA born players of Mexican descent (in Mexico, if a child with Mexican parents is born in the USA or any foreign country, he is still recognized as a Mexican by the Mexican constitutional law, therefore making him eligible for my squad of only Mexican players) Hoping that the game will actually find players like that for me and not only American sounding names!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                I'm a bit late to the party but playing the World Cup game with a few friends led me to finally succumb to this year's FIFA. I'm starting with my customary annual doomed attempt to lead The Albion to glory. They're in something of a state of flux this year, my line up looks something like;

                Foster 78 / Myhill 72

                Jones 70 / Reid 70
                Ridgewell 68 / Popov 66

                Olsson 76 / Dawson 68
                McAuley 73 / Lugano 74

                Mulumbu 77 / Morrison 73
                Yacob 78 / Dorrans 73

                Sinclair 73 / Gera 73
                Sessegnon 77 / Berahino 67
                Brunt 74 / Amalfitano 75

                Thievy 73 / Anichebe 72 / Vydra 73

Plus a few more largely irrelevant kids who'll mostly be gone after a season. I actually quite like this line up, the front four is fluid and largely blessed with scary pace and two excellent holders along with a competent keeper help mask a creaking defence. The problems only arise when considering that Sinclair, Thievy, Amalfitano and Vydra are all only loanees, while most of our other key players are reaching the age where they'll flirt with declining stats. Only Yacob and Mulumbu are really hitting their peak right now (both 26) with only Berahino and Dawson really displaying enough potential to be contributors amongst the younger guys.

I'll be trying to keep this relatively realistic, Albion have the philosophy of mostly dealing in free transfers and loans with maybe 2 or 3 outgoing fees per summer, as well as generally being passive in January. A lot of money has gone into the development infrastructure in reality also, so I'll be investing in a youth scout to hopefully unearth some gems.

Expectations are mid-table and round of 16. I suspect we'll manage the former pretty comfortably so mag end up going all in for a cup run as well.

                  Bristol City CM

I started a Bristol City CM a few weeks back, since i only joined operation sports recently i can't go into detail about the first season in League 1 as I've already finished it, we strolled through league 1 picking up first season by a big margin over second place Wolves, J. Emmanuel-Thomas was our main star, scoring over 40 goals in the whole season, young potential star Joe Bryan took home most assists with 21.
Here is a guide through the team and then we'll jump into the season of which we are 1st after 17 games but we'll get to that later.

Game Settings: I use Zjac7's natural feel sliders on legendary with 15 minute halves

                  Starting 11: 4-2-3-1
                  GK: F. Fielding(69)
                  DF: Ximo(70) Osbourne(71) Ake(69) Cunningham(69)
                  DMF: J. Bryan(69) L. Kelly(71)
                  RM/LM: A. Martial(70) S. Baldock(70)
                  CAM: Lobato(69)
                  ST: J. Emmanuel-Thomas(72)

                  Subs: Stech (69) Hazem Emam (62) Pack (68) Gauld (67) Reid (66) Burns (65) Chrisantus (72)

                  Reserves: Parish (60) Flint (65) Williams (68) Milanov (65) Kevin (71) Fontaine (69) Wagstaff (68) Pearson (63) Immobile (67) Azogue (64) Paterson (66) Adama (67) Krans (60)

                  Loaned in:
                  Adama (Barcelona B)

Bought This Season: (i use dollars because Im Australian)
Nathan Ake: $1,000,000 + Moloney from Chelsea
Anthony Martial: $2,000,000 from AS Monaco (was loaned in last season)
Ryan Gauld: $1,500,000 + El-Abd from Dundee United
                  Marek Stech: Free Transfer

                  Notable Players:
Martial is a 70 rated 18 year old, Immobile was from the youth academy, he's just 16 and rated 67, Baldock is the club captain, Bryan and Emmanuel-Thomas have been the two stand outs from last season.

You're pretty up to date with the squad now, i'm going to post again a bit later and then we'll jump into the season

                  Thanks

I need about 3-5 team suggestions please! I am looking for a club that is in one of the top 5 leagues (England, France, Germany, Italy or Spain) that has a decent budget of 7+ million sterling with relatively good young players BUT are not considered as one of the top teams. They should be expected to finish in the bottom half of the table.

Suggestions would be very nice thanks!

Southampton are the obvious ones. Players like Shaw, Ward-Prowse and Chambers coming through and a decent budget. Probably more mid-table than lower half but by no means among the elite yet.

Other than that Atalanta and Hoffenheim come to mind as more middling teams who have decent young players, but I've genuinely no idea on budget for either. And much as it pains me to say it as an Albion fan but Villa are interesting. Some young talent and a building block / cash cow in Benteke. Plus you have the whole restore to glory angle as they're former champions of Europe.

I play as Hoffenheim fairly often and they are stacked with solid young players. Their budget is $10 mil a year to start.

                            The Pride of Wales

June 28 – The 37-year old Brazilian Eleazar Neto has been appointed as Cardiff City’s new manager. In what was rather controversial news, Vincent Tan has decided to sack Malky Mackay, who had established promotion to the Premier league, and hire a rather unknown Brazilian manager. Neto joins Cardiff City from São Paulo, where he was the assistant manager of Muricy Ramalho. The 37-year old Brazilian has agreed a 2 year contract with the Bluebirds.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to take charge of Cardiff City. It has been a dream of me to lead a team to success in the English Premier League. I am looking forward to convince the fans that I am the right man for the job.” Said Neto.

According to Vincent Tan, Neto has the ability to take Cardiff City to a higher level than previous manager Malky Mackay. The controversial owner said: “I know it seems illogical to sack a manager who lead our team to promotion, but I couldn’t pass out on Neto. Several teams were interested in him and it was now or never for us.”

Malky Mackay has been reported to be disappointed. “I am very disappointed. I wanted to stay. I feel like this is a lack of respect towards me and the work I have put in.”

Neto’s first official game in charge will be against West Ham United on Saturday the seventeenth of August.

I know you want to play in the top 5 leagues but if you start one with the teams that were relegated last season you will probably be promted in the first season and they all have decent but ageing squads. QPR is a nice choice having some nice players in Hoilett, Morrison, Simpson, Phillips hitting their peak in the first three seasons and some decent ageing players in Barton, Kranjčar, Faurlín. Plus some great players in Taarabt, Mbia, Granero and the beast... Remy that come back at the end of the season.

I ended up going for Southampton. Some good youth, 8.5 million budget and LOTS of need for improvement. They hardly have any good depth so that's one thing I am working on. Trying to sign good young English players for depth but hard with my limited budget.

Surprisingly the league objective is to qualify for Euro League... I think it's possible if I perform very well but it will be very challenging.

I can't remember all of my signings and their prices but these are the players I signed. I did a lot of swap deals will post later the amounts and players swapped for.

                                Sam Byram
                                Simone Scuffet
                                Danny Ings
                                Connor Wickham
Ondoa (loan with future fee of 800k)
                                Jon Flanagan
                                Jamaal Lascelles
                                Nathan Aké
                                Eric Dier
                                Nathaniel Chalobah

Those are the ones I can remember. Tried to focus on young English talents and also got Scuffet as my new 1st choice goalkeeper because Boruc is 36, there was another old GK(Davis I think), then there was Gazzaniga and a 57 rated goalkeeper who I am never going to use. Ondoa was signed as my backup. He is 62 ovr, 17 yo with 80 potential

Eric Dier was part of a swap with Yoshida and he goes straight into the first team.

Flanagan is my backup to Luke Shaw while my RB position is occupied by Clyne with Chambers backing him up.

There is a shortage of wingers so I signed Byram with thoughts of using him as a RM not a RB

Chalobah and Cork are my backups for CDM with Wanyama and Schneiderlin being in my first team.

Dier and Lovren are my first choice CB's and Aké and Lascelles is the rotational players.

Currently Lallana is playing RM and Jay Rodriguez is playing LM. I don't have a backup LM but Byram is my backup for RM. If all else fails I'll play Shaw at LM or Gaston Ramirez

My two strikers are Wickham and Ings (both are really good to play with an nice potentials)

Currently Gaston Ramirez is my first choice CAM with Ward-Prowse backing him up

Thinking of swapping Ramirez for Raheem Sterling then I have another winger and I can play Lallana at CAM. Do you guys think I should do that?

Hopefully I'll save up some money to get a good scout before the end of the season I only have 500k left with 10k wages
