My first career will be Chelsea and then a team from La Liga/Bundesliga/Serie A/Ligue Un. Won't be getting '17 for a while though, maybe not until Christmas, too sucked into FM.

One my biggest regrets from my current GT CM is that I didn't stay long in the A-league so I'd be giving y'all the J-league for at least a full season.vrabbit

Euro League - Group Match 2
FC Twente - FC København (1-0)
Børven 77' (van der Lely)
ter Avest 32'
Katsikas 53' (Sprained ankle, 3 weeks)
In a game that was much closer than I would had liked Torgeir Børven saved us inside the last 15-minutes to give us three big points we really needed at home. København managed to control possession (58%) but even with that we outshot them 7-6 (3-2 on target) and needed every bit of that to finally break through. Unfortunately we did suffer a couple of losses in Katsikas' injury and also ter Avest will lose the next Euro League game due to accumulation of yellow cards.
League Match 8
FC Twente - SC Heerenveen (0-0)
This is concerning. We were able to have all 5 of our shots on target but couldn't break this deadlock against a Heerenveen team that shot a lot (8) but was only on target once. We should had won this game which is very frustrating.
Veldwijk's header off a corner kick is saved at the goal line by Mauro.
League Match 9
SC Cambuur - FC Twente (3-1)
Overgoor 27'
Rosheuvel 42'
Andriuškevičius 88'
Nangis 90' (ter Avest)
Ok no, THIS IS CONCERNING. One of the worst squads in the league embarrassed us and we really need to re-group and snap out of this funk. The opportunities were there for us (11 shots) but we didn't take full advantage of them (5 on goal) while Cambuur kept being very opportunistic, scoring on 3 of their 4 shots on goal.
Euro League - Group Match 3
Spurs - FC Twente (2-1)
Chadli 12'
González 35' (Aké)
Kane 47'
The struggle is real. We actually did an excellent job limiting Tottenham's attack on their own turf as they were able able to take 3 shots but the 2 they put on target turned into scores and we were unable to be as effective with our 6 shots (4 on goal) to suffer back-to-back defeats as a team for the first time this season.
League Match 10
FC Twente - PSV (4-1)
Willems 4'
Børven 30' (González)
Børven 45+' (González)
Børven 61' (González)
González 81' (pen)
Maybe we should all, including me, give up on trying to figure out this squad. I still have a lot of confidence on this roster but even I couldn't have imagined a win so resounding against a league title contender like PSV. It's difficult to outplay someone who scores a hat-trick and yet that is exactly what Derlis González did as the Paraguayan assisted in all three of Børven's goals then scored a goal of his own on a late PK (our regular PK executioner, Lars Veldwijk, had been subbed out) to finish with a near-perfect game rating of 9.8. EXCELLENT end to this month to hopefully put us on the right track for the rest of the season.
Torgeir Børven's performance so far this season is solidifying his position as a starter for the club.

Review: that statement win over PSV to close out the month certainly balanced our performance in October and it's hard to be so harsh on the team after a game like that but overall we really had a poor month and need to do better if we want to be successful this season. Those who know me know that I'm quick to praise Venezuelan talent but I have to go the other way here and call out Juanpi Añor who, after having an excellent debut with a couple of assists against Heracles Almelo at the beginning of last month, has been a ghost on the stat sheet and has consistently finished with low game ratings. The play at the CAM position is crucial in my diamond midfield so it's difficult to not connect the scoring struggles on his poor form. In addition, there really isn't a challenger for him at this position (Shadrach Eghan is really best suited for his sub role) so our only option here is for Juanpi to step up his game. If his struggles continue the move I'd consider would be bringing González to CAM and inserting Alessio Da Cruz out wide but I'm not too stoked about that idea. Meanwhile, Ajax remains undefeated and if we don't turn this around quickly they may run away with the league title early on.
In academy news, the youth squad keeps growing as we continue to get reports from our scouts in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany:
RW - Luciano Wildschut (62 OVR, 85-94 POT)*: the board is ecstatic about recruiting arguably the top local prospect to our academy. At just 15 years old Wildschut joins the youth squad as possibly the most talented prospect and he possibly offers the potential to be really special. We're hopeful he'll meet the hype.
CAM - Jeroen Claes (62 OVR, 82-94)*: This 17-year old from Belgium joins Wildschut right away is being considered the second highest rated prospect in the academy. He's considered a "playmaker" who has the ability to put good curve (75) on the ball and has good vision (69) which the club hopes can help him become a great passer from this position.
CB - Phillipp Kübler (60 OVR, 80-94): 16-year old from Germany who is physically strong (80 strength, 77 aggression, 75 jumping). I'm really excited about his potential and working on his defensive skills to get him ready for a promotion maybe as soon as next season.
CB - Manuel Kratz (55 OVR, 81-91): 18-year old from Germany who is actually too short (5'10) for this position but flashed too much potential to pass up. He'll be developed to be either a fullback or a CDM.
CB - Rico Kehrer (51 OVR, 76-94)*: 15-year old from Germany joining a pipeline of centre backs from that country in our academy. His young age makes him an equally interesting prospect in comparison to his countrymen at this position so it'll be interesting to see how he develops (currently 5'2" and 143lbs but described as "physically strong").
RW - Nathaniel Drost (54 OVR, 73-87): 15-year old from the Netherlands flashing outstanding pace (75spd/79acc) and agility (75) for his age. We're very excited local talent like him sign with our academy.
LW - Joris Peters (53 OVR, 72-92)*: 16-year old from the Netherlands with a good first step (75 acc) who will want to immerse himself into the academy for at least one full season to properly develop his skill set.
RM - Jens Schuermans (53 OVR, 74-82): 15-year old from Belgium described as a playmaker. He's only 4'8", 116lbs at the moment but he's crazy agile (75) for someone his age. He flashes some nice potential.
CDM - Michael Kabasele (44 OVR, 72-86): 17-year old from Belgium who currently projects as more a future backup. Doesn't possess ideal size (5'6", 143lbs) for the position but also doesn't have the speed to play out wide.
CDM - Denis Buysse (41 OVR, 71-91)*: 16-year old from Belgium described as "playmaker" who is very raw at the moment but offers solid potential. Academy trainers will need to develop him quickly early on.
CDM - Daniel Yabo (58 OVR, 73-81): 15-year old from Germany described as defensive minded. His defensive skills are actually pretty advanced for someone his age and his stamina is already good enough to at least play in a backup role so he's set to be a contributor for the club well before his 18th birthday.

2022 WC - CONMEBOL Qualifying
Venezuela - Brazil (1-1)
Oscar 15'
Del Valle 90' (pen)
Rosales 21'
Possibly one of the most difficult match-ups we could have gotten to open up this qualifying but luckily we had had some friendlies against Brazil leading up to this and even though we trailed for most of the game we were able to keep it close throughout and our effort paid off in the end when a righteous PK call in our favor was well executed by Yonathan Del Valle to allow us to earn a point out of this tough game. Neymar had actually missed a penalty kick of his own in the 4th minute but Brazil also got lucky in the 84th minute when a free kick my Romulo Otero was miraculously saved by Diego Alves.
Venezuela - Argentina (1-2)
Pastore 61'
Rondon 84' (Otero)
Agüero 88'
Unfortunately we were unable to also get a good result against the other powerhouse in South America even if our game plan was nearly flawlessly executed. We had 60% possession but we were unable to get much done in the last quarter of the pitch and were limited to just two shots (both on goal). Argentina also had just two shots on target but they scored on both, Sergio Agüero breaking our hearts just four minutes after we scored what we felt was a deserved equalizer. While we only earned 1 out of 6 points I come away pleased with how we performed against the top teams in this side of the world and feel good about what we can do in the qualifiers if we repeat these kind of performances.

11/15: at Paraguay (WC Qualifying)
11/19: vs Bolivia (WC Qualifying)
11/23: at Roda JC
11/28: vs Spurs (Euro League)
Good opportunities next month as they only game against team ahead of is one we should be able to handle at home against Vitesse but we really need to start taking care of business in games against lower opponents. Two more games in Euro League also may dictate our future in that competition so those will be important as well, and after a very difficult start in WC Qualifying I'll have two must-win games with Venezuela otherwise the local press may really go after me.
Wish me luck

SpoilerNot getting better luck in their tough group in Champions League as they currently sit in 3rd place after a draw with Olym. Marseille with just that point to show for while FC Bayern (9pts) and FC Porto (6) seem well ahead. Wouldn't it be something if they end up joining us in the Euro League? They continue to be in 7th place in the Süper Lig at 19 points, 6 behind the leader Beşiktaş.

League Match 11
FC Utrecht - FC Twente (2-2)
Veldwijk 5' (Juanpi)
Ebecilio 27'
Ludwig 53'
Ludwig 80'
Andreas Ludwig's brace in the second half kept us from stealing a win on the road in a game in which the home team dominated possession (60%) but wasn't able to do much with it (5 shots, 3 on target).
Euro League - Group Match 4
FC Twente - Hearts (3-3)
Juanma 19'
Juanma 25'
ter Avest 35' (Veldwijk)
Veldwijk 64' (pen)
Oshaniwa 73'
Eghan 90++' (Børven)
Shadrach Eghan scored a dramatic equalizer about a minute past the added time announced by the officiating crew to help us avoid an embarrassing loss against a Scottish club determined to not lose a fourth consecutive game in group play. Hearts jumped out to a 2-0 lead within 25 minutes courtesy of an inspired Juanma but my guys kept their composure and just 10 minutes later we had cut into the lead which helped me deliver a more efficient half time speech. We needed every bit of that composure in the second half since even after we evened up the score halfway through Hearts continued to be relentless and they went ahead once again in the 73rd minute by taking advantage of a broken play. We threw the kitchen sink at them thereafter but we kept just missing the mark (12 shots but only 5 on goal) but our last effort would pay off when Torgeir Børven switched roles with Eghan and played a through ball into the box for Ghanian attacking midfielder who one-timed a shot into the back of the net to set off a wild celebration by the whole team.
League Match 12
FC Twente - Vitesse (1-1)
Qazaishvili 36'
Børven 69' (Aké)
Vitesse is having a really good season and proved a tough opponent for us at home as were only able to muster a draw against them despite taking four times many shots as them (twice as many on goal).
League Match 13
Roda JC - FC Twente (2-0)
Paulissen 16' (pen)
Paulissen 51' (pen)
Børven 84' (Sprained ankle, 3 weeks)
Roda sets up in a heavily defensive mode which makes them tough to crack and the early lead they took made them commit to clamping down on defense even more. Highly frustrating game culminating with Børven's injury which is going to test our depth at striker. The Norwegian striker has been a pleasant surprise for us this season and we hope he can recover quickly.
Euro League - Group Match 5
FC Twente - Spurs (1-1)
Pritchard 26'
Ebecilio 83' (Olaitan)
Alderweireld 90+'
This game will soon be added to the dictionary as a reference under "missed opportunity. If we wanted a chance to overtake the English club for the top spot in the group we absolutely had to have a win in this game and, to the lads' credit, we certainly did everything possible to accomplish that (12 shots, 6 on target). But the shots just weren't going in against an inspired Hugo Lloris until Michael Olaitan, who got the start in place of the injured Børven, set up Kyle Ebecilio nicely for a shot at the top of the box that finally beat the French goalkeeper. We finally seemed to have grasped the momentum and looked like we got a good brake when Toby Alderweireld was late to a tackle on Olaitan in stoppage time inside the box but the ensuing penalty kick was saved by Lloris despite a great effort from Lars Veldwijk. The silver lining? We clinch a spot into the next round.
Ebecilio finally equalized the score in the 83rd minute on this shot from the top of the box
This late tackle by Alderweireld on Olaitan in stoppage time of the second half led to a red card for the Belgian defender and a penalty kick for us
Veldwijk had a good effort on the PK, shooting it high but not far enough from Lloris who guessed correctly

Review: Gotta say it was an underwhelming month with no wins in league play. It's really a shame we weren't able to build on that 4-1 win over PSV at the end of October and I know the criticism needs to fall on me. I'm definitely happy with clinching a spot in the Round of 32 of the Euro League before the end of group play but I have higher standards for this club and really would had like to win the group, definitely would had like to at least be in contention for that until the last game of group play. On the flip side I guess that last game will allow me to play some guys that haven't been getting much PT so that's a positive. Being in the bottom half of the table isn't a good look at the moment but a win in our next game would put us back in the top half and we're still very much in contention for a top-5 finish and even a Champions League spot. Unfortunately Ajax is showing no signs of slowing down so our league title chances aren't looking good at the moment, though there's still a lot of season left.
The enticing prospects continue to come in from the reports of our scouts in Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Here's the latest look at our academy which has been filled to full capacity as this time:
RW - Luciano Wildschut (63 OVR, 84-94 POT): the board is ecstatic about recruiting arguably the top local prospect to our academy. At just 15 years old Wildschut joins the youth squad as possibly the most talented prospect and he possibly offers the potential to be really special. We're hopeful he'll meet the hype.
CAM - Jeroen Claes (63 OVR, 82-94): This 17-year old from Belgium joins Wildschut right away as being considered the second highest rated prospect in the academy. He's considered a "playmaker" who has the ability to put good curve (75) on the ball and has good vision (69) which the club hopes can help him become a great passer from this position.
CB - Phillipp Kübler (61 OVR, 81-91): 16-year old from Germany who is physically strong (80 strength, 77 aggression, 75 jumping). I'm really excited about his potential and working on his defensive skills to get him ready for a promotion maybe as soon as next season.
CB - Manuel Kratz (56 OVR, 83-89): 18-year old from Germany who is actually too short (5'10) for this position but flashed too much potential to pass up. He'll be developed to be either a fullback or a CDM.
LW - Roy Verrips (49 OVR, 78-94)*: 16-year old attacking winger from the Netherlands flashing pace (75acc/71spd). We're very excited about his potential and he joins a good crop of local talent whose development will be interesting to watch.
CB - Rico Kehrer (53 OVR, 76-90): 15-year old from Germany joining a pipeline of centre backs from that country in our academy. His young age makes him an equally interesting prospect in comparison to his countrymen at this position so it'll be interesting to see how he develops (currently 5'2" and 143lbs but described as "physically strong").
RW - Nathaniel Drost (55 OVR, 78-86): 15-year old from the Netherlands flashing outstanding pace (76spd/79acc) and agility (76) for his age. We're very excited local talent like him signed with our academy.
LW - Joris Peters (53 OVR, 70-86): 17-year old from the Netherlands with a good first step (76 acc) who will want to immerse himself into the academy for at least one full season to properly develop his skill set.
RM - Jens Schuermans (54 OVR, 76-82): 15-year old from Belgium described as a playmaker. He's only 4'8", 116lbs at the moment but he's crazy agile (75) for someone his age. He flashes some nice potential.
CDM - Michael Kabasele (44 OVR, 74-82): 17-year old from Belgium who currently projects as more a future backup. Doesn't possess ideal size (5'6", 143lbs) for the position but also doesn't have the speed to play out wide.
LB - Jules Claeys (42 OVR, 71-85)*: 16-year old from Belgium who becomes our first prospect at the fullback position since my arrival. He's raw so he'll need time in the academy but I'm hopeful he'll develop quickly.
CB - Dominik Hoffmann (52 OVR, 73-81)*: We went back and forth with our scout in Germany on whether to sign this 18-year old prospect and finally decided his 6'6", 187lbs frame to go with his potential was too good to pass on even if he's already an adult. He's physically strong (79 strength and aggression) so we'll try to develop him as quickly as possible.
CDM - Daniel Yabo (59 OVR, 73-79): 15-year old from Germany described as defensive minded. His defensive skills are actually pretty advanced for someone his age and his stamina is already good enough to at least play in a backup role so he's set to be a contributor for the club well before his 18th birthday.
CDM - Denis Buysse (43 OVR, 67-83): 17-year old from Belgium described as "playmaker" who is very raw at the moment but offers solid potential. Academy trainers will need to develop him quickly early on.
GK - Nill Oulare (48 OVR, 63-83)*: This 15-year old from Belgium becomes our first goalkeeper prospect in the academy since my arrival. The youth coaches are excited to work with him to better gauge his potential.

2022 WC - CONMEBOL Qualifying
Paraguay - Venezuela - (0-1)
Del Valle 90++' (Rondon)
We had to have this win after the difficult start against Brazil and Argentina last month but Paraguay was being a pest despite of our dominance (55%, 13 shots, 7 on goal). It looked destined for a goalless draw till we finally broke through on the last play of the game:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/DulFd8DL3-4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Venezuela - Bolivia (2-1)
Saaevedra 37' (OG)
Martinez 62' (Juanpi)
Eguino 81'
Martinez 32'
This is why we can't have nice things. The two most winnable games on the schedule and we had to sweat them both out. In the end we walk away with the 6 points which is really what matters. We again had a lot of shots (11, 7 on goal) and it was our relentless attack that finally forced a mistake by Saavedra on a strong shot from Rondon. Then Juanpi, who although struggling with Twente continues to being in good form with the NT, set up Josef Martinez nicely for the goal that would end up providing us with breathing room.

12/21: vs Feyenoord
1/16: at AZ
1/21: vs Roda JC

So yeah the next updated will be juicy packed with nine games and transfer news, so I guess you could say you'll want to keep an eye out for it. If we don't start putting together some winning streaks soon we'll definitely have no shot at catching up with Ajax so the time is now.
Wish me luck

SpoilerOfficially eliminated in Champions League with just two points after five games with Porto (9) and Bayern (15) well ahead of them. They're currently in third place with the same amount of points as Marseille but a better goal differential so they have a shot at jumping into the Euro League but close out group play against Bayern which will be tough. They remain in 7th place in the Süper Lig at 24 points, 8 behind the leader Trabzonspor.vrabbit

Cheltenham seems to be a bit more reliant on loaned in players for their starting roster, so it looks like Morecambe has a bit more long term talent (if you can call it that). But I like that you chose the 2 lowest rated teams! Im hoping it will be a lot more challenging this year with all the new goals added in.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Long time. I've been playing the 17 demo and I'm absolutely loving it. Let's hope the game plays like this out of the box.
I was thinking of starting with Chelsea.
1. Overhaul the defence
2. Sell and replace Courtois and Pedro
3. Get a midfield general
4. Balance the midfield
5. Give at least 3 youth players 10 starts each
And then moving on to a team on the continent, probably Malaga or Serie A.Comment

Pedro I think can be useful so I'll keep him around but maybe sell Moses. Solanke will be the third striker behind Costa and Batshuayi and Oscar will probably move on as well. Maybe someone like Koke/Matuidi will come in.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Heya, Sorry for the inactivity. I've been so busy with work recently, that I only played 3 games on the fifa 17 demo.
Things look to calm down in the upcoming weeks, which is great for me. I'm thinking about starting my first Fifa 17 career with OGC Nice, and get Balotelli to finally fulfill his potential. Seems like a funny little side project.Comment
