Picking up the game from the store today and really, really excited to get a new CM going. I will probably test it out with Newcastle as they are my favorite club, just to get the hang of it. From what I understand, the new Global Transfer Network is different, and I want to explore a bit first.

From there, like many of you, I will probably choose a League 2 team and try to make the leap from there.

Looking forward to sharing the CM journey with you guys.

Just opened the game. Naturally, I started with FUT. That's what got me hooked a few years ago.

Once I get some time to play, hopefully this weekend, I'll start a CM for fun before, hopefully sticking it out with Cheltenham Town. I may switch it up this year and find another League 2 team to bring up. Also, I'm thinking about bringing the Wolves back to the Prem.

A Polish league team, Slask Wroclaw is also an option.

So is pretty much impossible to play CM somewhat casually anymore? The player search thing is complete crap. We have to seriously scout pretty much everywhere just to get an idea of some elite players ratings? Am I the only one who thinks that EA may have dropped the ball on this and said "screw you casual fans, its time for a deeper CM"?

Im very disappointed that we need to "find" overalls for just about any player now.

picked up Chelsea FC, mainly due to good looking kits, would have chosen Liverpool had it not for the ugly away kits.

Transfers:

Traded FT for Suarez plus 27M sterling;
Traded Hazard for Pedro plus 10M cash;

Currently sitting 2nd at the table after 5 games (4-1-0). Damn it's so hard to score more than 2 goals on Legendary with semi/manual sliders. I only average like 8-10 shots a game (4-5 shots on goal).

Suarez is currently tied with Negredo in the goal tally with 5 strikes.

You are indeed correct, it's an awful implementation of an okay idea.

Save yourself some time and just use SOFIFA.

As stated in the comment before this, just stick with SOFIFA. Seems like EA are basically trying to turn this into Football Manager, but only the die hards will appreciate it. SOFIFA is still the way to go IMO.

I'm playing with Arsenal and am currently fighting my way through the ultimate group of death in the champions league (PSG, Real Madrid, Galatassary). Loving the new global transfer market, it's opening my eyes to some players that i might have never given a chance to before. I signed a german beast that i probably wouldn't have even enquired about in fifa 13 so from that standpoint the global transfer market is a really awesome idea imo.

Well I tried. I got the game yesterday, and started a VP career which I intended to use to get the hang of the game but I just can't do it. I feel like I play a lot differently in a player career and there's less to do so eff it. I think I'll start one Oxford United. I like their kits

I totally agree. I welcome the idea of FIFA becoming more like Football Manager but I understand how that won't sit well with everyone. Some people just want to pick it up and play which is fine. I've been very critical about the GTN as a CM addition but I've heard good things so far so I'm excited to try it out.

It's a crap implementation of a moderately good idea.

I agree 100%. I never in a million years thought someone saying they are trying to make it like Football Manager would be said in a negative way.

When they first announced GTN it sounded just a dressed up player search feature and nothing exceptional added to CM. It kind of ends up being exactly that, but I enjoy it because it provides a different way to play the game. It allows me to essentially send my scouts out with instructions on how I want to form up the squad and they report back occasionaly with players that match the scheme that I want to run. It forces you to build up a database of players so that in the future if a need opens up on your team you need to be in touch with clubs around the world and know what is out there rather than not using scouts at all and jsut doing a search for a name you found on the internet. Scouting becomes an important gameplay mechanic rather than a tool.

This is what I tried to explain to you over on the PES section, but occasionally I suffer from the "head full of sermons, mouth full of spiders" syndrome. I love the GTN, so far and am really looking forward to re-building Rangers into a Scottish power.

defend your statement. in past fifa's transfers have included scrolling through lists of 50 players at a time only to in the end buy the superstar player or the op player agreed upon by the community. the worst thing that the GTN is make you look at players you might not have given a look to in past fifas and if you give it a chance you might find some gems. what is so bad about that?
